Arriving onto the campus Hitori gets lost and encounters a mysterious senpai. He begins his first day in the hero course but is distracted by the events that happens early.

U.A. High School - Musutafu, Japan

Since he got off the train Hitori felt the guilt inside of him resurfacing. He kept seeing the mans head in the corner of his eye, only to turn around and see nothing. He almost missed his stop if it wasn't for a kind man asking him if he was going to U.A. because of his uniform.

Walking through the main gate of the school, Hitori was reminded of what Ms. Mika said, that walking through those gates made you feel a sense of accomplishment , yet the boy only felt a sense of dread.

He walked through the hallway, not minding his way as he was lost in his thoughts. 'I was ready this morning, yet now I want nothing more than to go home? Is it because this is where my journey truly begins?' He reached a stairwell and ascended upwards.

'Do they know that I applied here? Are their spy's already here? Am I being watched right now?' He stops at the corner of a walkway upon hearing a loud squeak behind him. He turns around, completely ignoring the face in the wall directly next to him, and sees some students down the hallway walking away from him.

He looked around confusingly for what made the sound but found nothing, 'I know I heard that but where did it come from? Maybe my Quirk acted up again? Wouldn't be the first time that happened.' Just as Hitori was going to resume his walk he hears the sound of someone clearing their throat to his right.

He slowly turns only to be met with a face in the wall staring back at him. The boys beady blue eyes stared him down as the blonde smiled at him, "Hey there first year! You know you're on the wrong floor right? Let me show you-." He cut himself when he noticed Hitori's face turn white as a sheet as he stared at the senior, "Uhhh you okay there buddy?"

Hitori didn't hear a word the older boy said to him as he instead saw the hero's disembodied head looking back at him twitchingly. Without saying a word, the boy ran away and booked it up the stairs while ignoring the boy calling out to him.

Students moved out of his way as he kept running up the steps until he eventually reached the top and slammed the rooftop door open. He fell to his knees as he tried to calm himself down. His vision became blurry as he silently cried while attempting to breathe. His control over his Quirk was starting to slip as small waves of black rippled underneath his skin.

Just as Hitori felt a panic attack about to overwhelm him a comforting warmth blanketed over his body. He blinked away tears and noticed that he was lit ablaze by blue flames yet wasn't in pain. His Quirk receded back into his body as he gently tried to put the flames out but wasn't successful. Instead he looked around and found an older student resting against the roof ledge, who stared at back him with an indifferent look, "You gonna be alright if I stop my Quirk now or what?"

The older boy had blue hair with an orange stripe of hair going down his slicked back hair that reached his neck. His eyes were a mix of both blue and orange hues as they swirled within his irises. Despite being seated the boy looked tall and slightly muscular while wearing his loose-fitting U.A. uniform. What intrigued Hitori the most was the web-like scar on the seniors left cheek that spanned from his jaw to almost reaching his lips.

Hitori hesitantly nods and slowly the flames receded as the senior absorbed them back into himself. Hitori stood to his feet and slightly bowed, "T-Thanks for helping me sir. I almost lost control of my Quirk which could have been dangerous."

The older student stared at him for a moment before bluntly speaking, "You joined the hero course with a Quirk that you can barely control? Doesn't sound smart."

Hitori winced at his words but sensed the student wasn't being cruel to him but was most likely just very blunt. He tried to fix his hair while answering him, "Y-You have a point but I assure you I have control over my Quirk. It's just that this morning didn't start off so well and I haven't even started class yet."

The student shrugged his shoulders at him, "If you say so kid." The student glanced at his watch and grimaced when he saw that class was almost about to start, "Class is about to start so we have to go now if we want to make it in time."

Hitori nods and follows the senior down the steps as they speed walk down the steps without saying a word to each other the whole way. Hitori continued following the senior but eventually he found the floor his classroom was on. He stopped by the stairs and turned to look at the senior who continued his climb up the stairs and stopped to face Hitori.

Hitori bows, "I almost forget to introduce myself. I'm Yotsubashi Hitori and thanks for escorting me to my floor sir." He looks up and stares at older student expecting a response but is only met with a blank expression. After a moment of tense silence, he decides to walk away after assuming he wasn't going to get a response from him.

He only took a couple steps down the hallway before he heard the students voice call out to him, "Houyama Yaketsuku." Hitori turned around to see the student standing at the bottom of the stairs looking towards him, "My name is Houyama Yaketsuku and I'm in Class 3-B. I believe you and I share similar reasons as to why we're in the heroics department."

Hitori narrowed his eyes warily as he questioned Houyama, "You just met me and you think you know me?"

Houyama merely nods as he turns away and walks up the staircase but not before leaving with parting words, "Your here not by personal choice but because you believe you have to be. You don't belong here and quite frankly neither do I, but yet we're both here anyways because of our circumstances."

Hitori stood shock still at his statement before quickly shaking his head and speed walking away. In his mind he mulled over Houyama's words, "He's not exactly wrong about what he said. Though the difference is this was the only legal way of achieving my ideal vision of Liberation."

Hitori couldn't waste any more time before his father would make his move.

Hitori now stood outside his classroom. He could sense the emotions floating around in the room like anxiety, irritation and a variety of other negative emotions that simmered beneath the surface.

However, he only sensed 19 people beyond the door which confused him since he was sure there were 20 people beyond the door, 19 students and the teacher. He believed he was the last one to arrive since he's almost late. After a moment of hesitation, Hitori slides open the classroom door and steps into the class.

Upon entering he's greeted with a small amount of noise emanating throughout the room from the chatter of his classmates. He turned towards the podium and locked eyes with who he presumed was the teacher, who gruffly spoke to him, "Just before the bell kid. Try to be more punctual next time alright? You're sitting in front of over there."

The teacher points towards an empty desk that near the doorway. He made his way over to his seat and places his backpack onto the hook underneath his desk and takes his seat. The bell rang loudly through the school as the class slowly quiets down and faces towards the teacher.

The teacher loudly cleared his throat as he addressed the class, "Morning everyone! My name is Kan Sekijiro, or better known as the Blood Hero: Vlad King. You may refer to me as Kan-Sensei, Vlad-Sensei, or just Sensei as I am your hometown teacher this year so I hope we get along well." He stepped to the side of the podium and continued his speech, "With that being said, I want each of you to come up to the podium and introduce yourself to the class and state what your Quirk is and something about yourself."

One by one his classmates went up and introduced themselves to the class. Hitori internally panicked as he didn't really have the best social skills. Sure Ms. Mika had done her best to get him to be more social when he was younger but with his Quirk always sensing peoples underlying negative emotions he decided it wasn't worth putting in the effort to maintain friendships.

"What should I even say? I don't have any hobbies that sound interesting! Even with my Quirk I'm still a boring person." Hitori thought to himself. Once again his Quirk rose to the surface as it came crawling out of his palm this time. He scratched at his Quirk in a way that seemed soothing but when that doesn't work he instead focuses on reading the syllabus laid out on his desk.

Suddenly, Hitori felt a light kick to his foot that startled him and he would've jumped out his seat if it wasn't for the fact he didn't want to embarrass himself. He turned to his right to be met with a pretty girl that was looking at him curiously with her charcoal eyes. She had long black hair that reached halfway down her back with a long bang swept to the right of her face and a plain black choker.

However, what intrigues him more is the fact that she's almost invisible to his Quirk. He could faintly feel inklings of negative emotions within her and yet it's enough to register her invisible to him if she wasn't in his vicinity. "It's rare for someone to be able to repress their inner emotions unconsciously or maybe she's one of those 'live in the moment' people?" He thought to himself.

He was broken out his trance when the girl kicked him again but harder this time and whispered, "You okay dude? You were staring at me for a bit there."

Hitori quickly adjusted his expression to a more indifferent look as he answered, "Sorry, I was just thinking of what to say for my introduction."

She gives him a small smile, "Ah I see. Is that why your hands gone all black? Your Quirk do that to you or is that something else?" She points to his still blackened hand.

Hitori mentally forces his anxiety down which causes his hand to go back to normal. He never liked forcefully shutting away his feelings since it felt wrong but often times his own emotions get him into uncomfortable situations. He awkwardly answers her question, "Y-Yeah that's my Quirk at work. Once again I'm sorry if I've made you uncomfortable about it."

The girl tilted her head at him curiously, "It's alright dude. No harm no foul, though I'm curious on what exactly your Quirk is. It's gotta be either an Emitter or Transformation Quirk right? I mean you're kinda lanky but you could have one of those 'don't judge a book by its cover' type of Quirks and be really strong."

He notes that she was incredibly talkative and intrusive. Not that it was a bad thing but he was unused to these types of people. Hitori somewhat dismissively tells her, "You'll find out soon enough if you're so interested in it."

Her smile grows a bit wider at his dismissal and instead of being put off she grows more intrigued, "Ooh I do love a good mystery even if it is temporary~." He blushed slightly at her tone as she stood up out of her seat and glanced at him with a smirk plastered across her lips, "You and I are gonna get along with each other very well friendo."

She walked towards the front of the classroom with a relaxed gait, almost as if she didn't have a care in the world. She steps in front of the podium and turns to face the class with a wide smile, "Hey there everybody the names Kikazawa Izumi and my Quirks called Hyper Dense Cloth or HDC for short!"

Suddenly tendrils of thick cloth come out from behind her and started forming something humanoid. It formed the top half of a human except it was made from black cloth that had black mist radiating from it. The most striking part of the thing was its head, which was in the shape of a pyramid and had a black void as its face.

Honestly, it looked straight out of one of those horror games that Ms. Mika plays at home. Yet, Kikazawa stands next to the thing with a wide smile as she pets the back of its head. "HDC here is a sentient being that comes out of my body and fights alongside me. He can think for himself but can't actually talk, which is unfortunate but he makes up for it with his personality!" To prove her point HDC begins extending out towards the class giving out high fives to anyone willing, though his face unnerved some of the class.

Kikazawa continued speaking, "Anyways HDC's great but so am I! Something I could say about myself is that I like exploring new places around the world. Ooh like this one time my brother took me to Mount Hakodate and we had to hike up the mountain, which was fun."

Hitori was listening from his desk as Kikazawa ranted about her trips when HDC came over to him seemingly ready to high five him. However, the living cloth paused in front of him. Hitori was about to say something when the Quirk got closer to him and stared at his face unnervingly still. "Did I do something wrong? Why's it looking at me like that? Is it ... my Quirk that it senses?" Hitori muses to himself despite feeling uneasy at the cloths staring.

After a moment passes HDC gives him a thumbs up and turns away from him to retreat back into the approaching Kikazawa. It's in the moment when Hitori locks eyes with her that a realization hits him, "She must be Monarchs little sister. They have the same last names and bear a striking resemblance to each other, though they have different Quirks."

She plops back onto her chair and looks over to him as the next person goes up, "So friendo you got my name now and you know what my Quirk is. Any thoughts or feedback hm?"

Unsure why she's asking him for his thoughts Hitori reluctantly answered, "Can your Quirk sense the Quirks and emotions of others?"

Kikazawa faces drops into a slight frown, "That's your question? So lame, but to answer your question he can to a certain degree. Think of it kinda like how a dog can notice their owners behavior." She narrows her eyes at him slightly, "Also don't call HDC an 'it' he has a name and has his own will, that's a quick way to get yourself on my bad side."

Hitori eyes widen slightly as he quickly apologizes, "O-Oh my bad. It's just I've never encountered a sentient Quirk like HDC before so he peaked my interest." She giggled at his explanation and he awkwardly fixes his hair back into its swept back form.

After several classmates introduce themselves it's Hitori's turn to go. He walks over to the front of the classroom with a neutral expression despite his internal thoughts spiraling, "Should I try to appear outgoing or should I just be my usual self? Ms. Mika wanted me to at least make a friend today but she wouldn't understand that my Quirk lets me sense the worst in people. I'll just stick with a neutral approach to this."

He stands at the podium and lets out a half-smile as he speaks with a formal tone, "Hello, my name is Yotsubashi Hitori and my Quirk is called Negative Zero. Some things I like doing in my spare time is meditating and reading books."

He wanted to leave it at that but a hand went up in the back of the class. Kan-Sensei cleared his throat to speak, "You have a question in the back young Yotsubashi."

Hitori looked over at who raised their hand and saw a guy with slick blond hair and a contemptuous smirk plastered on his face, "I noticed that you didn't mention what your Quirk does exactly and I was just curious as to why?"

Hitori could feel everyone's eyes on him now since the question was brought to everyone's attention. Feeling the peer pressure rack up he reluctantly answered, "I am able channel negative emotions such as Anxiety, Anger, and many more and convert it into raw power. It also allows me to increase my strength and size."

A boy from across the classroom jumped up from his seat and pointed at him as his grey eyes widened in recognition, "I remember you! You were in the same zone as me! Man you were so fucking awesome out there, especially when you demolished that Zero Pointer in a single shot!" The boy was wearing a headband that kept his long spiky black hair from reaching his eyes, if he remembered correctly his name was Awase Yosetsu.

Some of his classmates gazed at him in awe and others in respect, though Hitori wasn't sure what to do with that information. He went back to his seat quietly and the class introductions continued normally.

After everyone introduced themselves Kan-Sensei marched to the front of the class and said, "With introductions finally being finished we can now head on over to the auditorium for the orientation." The class groaned as a collective at the reminder of orientation before their teacher continued, "However, we will also have a Quirk Apprehension Test afterwards to evaluate everyone's Quirks. So look forward to that."

With that said everyone headed for the auditorium.

Hitori walked out of the locker room and headed towards the P.E. Grounds. He could hear his classmates following after him while chatting about the orientation.

"The principals speech went on for so long I thought it would never end. His speeches remind of that man's speech's yet they're clearly different tones." Hitori thought to himself.

He walks ahead of the boys and attempts to tune out their conversations but the blond boy from earlier walks up to him and matches his pace. Hitori was planning to ignore him but he sensed an inkling of nervousness within the boy despite his outward confidence and it made him curious.

The boy, who he learned was called Monoma Neito, spoke to him with a casual tone, "So Yotsubashi what did you think of the principals speech?"

Hitori sighed, "It's inspiring I guess? I personally think it dragged on too long. Though I wonder why Class 1-A didn't show up, the principal didn't even bat an eye to their absence."

Monoma nodded as a frown overtook his face, "I heard rumors about their teacher from some upperclassmen when I got here this morning." He adjusted his collar as he shared his knowledge, "Apparently the teacher expelled his entire last class due to not believing they had potential to be heroes. Can you believe that?"

They walked through a door that led outside as Hitori shrugged, "Well the principal did say that the teachers have free rein on how to run their classes. If we put in the effort we won't have to worry about Kan-Sensei expelling any of us."

"Guess you got a point. Anyways I wanted to ask you something if you don't mind." Monoma asked him. Hitori gave him a nod and continues, "Well as you probably heard in class earlier my Quirk is called Copy and it allows me to use anyone's Quirk after I make physical contact with them for a limited time."

Hitori raised an eyebrow at him, "Your point is what exactly?"

Monoma took a deep breath before answering, "Well I was wondering if I can copy your Quirk and use it on the test? You aren't obligated to do it but my Quirk relies on using others Quirks to make me useful."

Hitori turned away and thought about what to say. Despite not knowing Monoma too well he could tell that he seemed somewhat anxious at a potential denial. Admittedly, he was curious to see how someone else would use his Quirk and see if he could maybe learn something new about it. Plus the guy asked him face to face instead of just using his Quirk without asking, so he could respect that.

"Sure why not. Maybe you could provide a different perspective on how to make use of my Quirk." Hitori half-smiled at the boy.

The blonds eyes lit up as a wide smile spread onto his face, "I can definitely help you with that. You won't regret this Yotsubashi." Monoma extended his hand out enthusiastically towards Hitori, "Anything I should know about your Quirk? Like is it the type that uses a stored resource that you built up over time?"

Hitori accepted the handshake with a firm grip, "My Quirk kind of uses a stored resource but you shouldn't need to worry about that." At Monoma's confused look, Hitori merely shrugged, "Negative emotions give you power and positive emotions lower your power. Quite simple but yet I'd say it's a pretty versatile Quirk when you understand it."

Monoma chuckles back at him, "I would've never guessed you can be cocky from my first impression of you." Monoma felt the foreign Quirk enter his body and immediately brought forth its power to the surface. He felt an immense pressure weigh his body down as he stopped walking and gritted his teeth, "W-what's h-happening to m-me?!"

Hitori let go of Monoma's hand and stepped to his side, "Well your using too much of one emotion that it'll weigh you down. You need to balance it out with positive emotions otherwise you also risk losing control over yourself. Take a couple deep breaths and feel some positive emotions, you'll manage it pretty quickly."

They stood with some of their class waiting for the others to arrive when Kikazawa walked over in a relaxed manner. She tilted her head in confusion at Monoma's concentrated face and looked back at Hitori, "What's up with him? He looks constipated."

Hitori had an amused look as he answered, "He wanted to practice using my Quirk and well . . . he's trying to at least."

The blond heard their chatter as he hmphed indignantly, "I can still hear you!" He managed to stand straight as the inky blackness manifested on his face, though it had a slight yellow undertone to it. He took a deep breath and relaxes his body as the Quirk simmers back into him, "Okay I think I got it under control. That was an interesting experience and even now I'm still trying to maintain a good balance of it. How do you do it?"

Hitori was about speak up when Vlad King marched up with the rest of the class in tow. The class gathered around as their teacher stood in front of them with a clipboard.

Vlad clears his throat loudly, "Alright maggots it's time for your Quirk Apprehension Test! You'll be performing in the same series of tests that you did in junior high but this time with your Quirks." He stepped to the side and motioned towards a circle in the middle of the field, "Yotsubashi, since you came in second in the Entrance Exam come up here and perform a demonstration of the ball throw with your Quirk."

Hitori nodded as he made his way to the circle while internally spreading his Quirk into his right arm. The arm rapidly turns black as it bulges and increases to double the size of his normal arm. He felt everyone's eyes on him which in turn made him more anxious, which also in turn empowers his Quirk further.

Upon reaching the circle Kan-Sensei tossed the ball at Hitori who caught it, "What was your ball throw record in junior high kid?"

Hitori stretched his empowered arm out as he answered, "67 meters sir."

The teacher nods at him, "That's an impressive throw for a kid but now try it with your Quirk this time."

Hitori swirls the ball in his enlarged arm as he looks towards the sky and takes a deep breath, "Since I'm being used as the benchmark for the class to surpass. Guess I should set the bar high then."

Hitori spread his feet out with his knees slightly bent as he got in position for his throw. He could feel his Quirk trying to empower him further but he restrained it ever so slightly as to not lose his control. He wound back his arm to throw the ball but just before it left his hand, a large wave of energy rippled through his arm and released a large shockwave that sent ball booming into the sky.

The class stared in awe as some of their jaws dropped at the display of raw power. They could still hear the slight booms the ball made as it traveled further into the distance.

Monoma gulped audibly as he looked down at his hand to see the same inky black swirling in his hand. He whispered to himself, "So this is the power you possess huh?" The swirl in his palm pulsed rapidly as it grew in size but he quickly tampered it down as he tried to figure out what emotion he was feeling.

Hitori slowly rescinded his Quirk back into himself as he made his way back to the class silently. He turned to Kan-Sensei and asked, "What's my score sir?"

The teacher looked at the tablet before showing the class that it read 1,079 meters. Hitori merely shrugged at his score, once again indifferent to his score while his classmates had shocked looks.

Kikazawa repeatedly slapped his back enthusiastically, "Way to go Friendo! I didn't think your Quirk would be that powerful but you know what they say, looks can be deceiving." Hitori turned to her with a unamused look though she continued to smile at him.

Vlad King whistled to get the classes attention and smirked at everyone, "Well then kids it's time to get to the rest of the tests." Some of students groaned when they remembered that it was still a test and moved onto the gauntlet of tests.

At the end of the school day students began pouring out the entrance and made their way home. Though despite this, a lone student made their way up the staircase to the rooftop.

They stepped through the door and saw a man standing on the railing overlooking the school. The man wore a black suit and tie with a white undershirt and black slacks The man's black hair was slicked back and he had relaxed gray eyes.

The student blankly stared at the man and eventually called out to him, "Madokoro-Sensei you called for me?"

The man turned to him with a wide grin, "About time you got here Houyama. You're late by the way."

Houyama shrugged as he walked over, "Not my fault you told me at the last second to meet you here." The young man yawned loudly as he leaned against the railing, "So why did you want to speak to me anyways?"

Madokoro chuckled as dropped back down onto the floor, "Tired already kid?" Houyama glared at him to which the man ignored him and continued, "Moving on, you happy to be a third year already? Time flys by so fast now that it feels like just yesterday you walked into my office asking me for help two years ago!"

Houyama shook his head, "It doesn't feel any better to me. Life goes on and yet I still think about my first year and what happened then." He sighs deeply as he gets lost in thought. Madokoro is quick to wave a hand in his face to get him back on track, "Now will you tell me why you wanted to talk to me? I have training with Masonori later and I don't plan on missing it."

The teacher nods at him as his grin finally drops into a neutral look. He looks down at the school entrance as he talks, "What do you know about the incident that took place in Hamamatsu 10 years ago?"

Houyama looks over at him with a pensive look, "Well not much was made public about it so I don't know a lot. The news described as some sort of turf war between rival villain groups that destroyed a quarter of the city." The young man strokes his chin as thinks deeply, "Though I do recall that you were the hero on the scene and brought an end to the fighting."

Madokoro stayed silent for a moment as he observed student leaving the school. He eventually answers, "That's the story the Hero Commission put out to please society but that's not the actual story." Houyama leans in closer, intrigued by this.

"I received a lead from an anonymous source that lead me to the Meta Liberation Army making a deal with a mysterious person. I had backup in the form of Hyperion but even then that didn't prepare us for what we walked into." Madokoro explained with a grimace. Houyama was about to speak up but was interrupted again by the teacher, "The Grand Commander of the Meta Liberation Army and his elites were there. We were already overwhelmed with only just the two of us but then came the third party, the self-proclaimed Demon Lord of the world."

Houyama noticed that the man was clenching the railing harshly given that his knuckles were turning white. Houyama didn't know who this 'Demon Lord' was but understood that he was incredibly dangerous. He decided to respond with his usual bluntness, though with slightly hesitant tone, "While I am glad you survived Sensei, is there a point to this? I understand that you faced some of the most dangerous villains around but why tell me this?"

Madokoro let go of the railing as he let out a deep sigh, "You know, with that attitude your chances of getting a girlfriend are near zero." Houyama's eyebrow ticked in irritation but let the teacher speak, "The point is there was a child at the center of that showdown. Now to anyone else they might think he was a hostage but me? No no no! That child was being protected by that army fiercely so the child had to be someone important."

He outstretched his arm and pointed down to the entrance to a group of students making their way out of school. Houyama recognized Yotsubashi being dragged by a girl with black hair, while another girl and two other guys walked with them talking animatedly. He narrows his eyes questioningly when he noticed that his finger was pointing in Yotsubashi's direction, "You believe Yotsubashi is that same child from 10 years ago?"

Madokoro nods at him with grin, "Of course I do! He looks exactly like that kid from back then, except he's obviously older now." The man paused for a moment before tilting his head at the teen, "Wait a sec, how'd you know his name already?"

"He came onto the rooftop this morning looking like he's seen something horrifying. I happened to be on the roof already and calmed him down before I helped him get to his class." Houyama let blue and orange flames dance between his palms as he spoke, "He's a troubled kid, like me but seems like a good one. Yet, you're suspicious as to why he's here, aren't you?"

Madokoro shoots him a thumbs up, "Exactly! There has to be a reason he's here and I intend to find out." His smile falters ever so slightly, "If there's a chance I'm wrong about all of this, then I'll apologize. But I just know that boy is connected to the army in some way and I will get that information from him."

The young man can sense his teachers determination to his investigation and wonders how he'll go about it. However, a ping goes off from his watch. Houyama checks the notification and starts walking away though not without parting words, "Anyways I'm late to training so I'll be going now. Whatever you plan on doing, just make sure you don't get overzealous about it like you always do."

The rooftop door closed as the student left his teacher on the rooftop alone. Madokoro leaned his back against the railing and lets out a long sigh as he looks up at the sky, "Well looks like another path just opened up. I just hope I can make some progress this time."

And so the first day of the new school year went by.

Apologies if the formatting isn't perfect, I don't got a creative writing degree nor the experience. Characters from the main series will probably somewhat OOC but I'll try my best. Won't have a schedule for this since I go to college and have work so updates will be random.

Constructive Criticism and Feedback is appreciated. Uploads will be random or sporadic so don't expect a schedule. Adios!
