AN: Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've uploaded a chapter for this story, so I decided I should. Have a good day and enjoy the chapter (probably not because it's quite short) :/

Saturday 27th August

Today, I woke up to a sound I thought I would never in the season we were in. I got out of bed, opened the drapes and pushed open the window. At first, I thought I was hallucinating and nothing peculiar was going on, but when I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, I knew this wasn't a trick. It was raining, Lemmy was outside in his bare feet and pyjamas, catching raindrops with his tongue.

"What the hell are you doing?" I shouted at him out the window.

"Enjoying the rain!" he yelled back. "British people normally do this after a few really hot days!"

"Why?"

"Because they think it's nice to cool down after hot days, so they stand out in it and have fun! Come on, check it out!"

Reluctantly, I shut the window, grabbed my robe, slipped on a pair of sneakers and went downstairs. I stood by the backdoor watching Lemmy until he saw me and rushed inside. Grabbing me by the hand, he said, "Look! The pool's filling up even more. Isn't it nice to have this sort of weather for a change?"

I hesitated before replying, "Uh…I guess it's a bit of a change, but I think it's a little too cold for me."

I had been standing by the door for a while and I was starting to get a bit cold, so I decided to go back upstairs, put on some clothes that I didn't mind getting wet and go outside. "Wow." I said after me and Lemmy had been out there for some time. "This is actually quite nice. Hey, look! The ground is starting to dry."

I had noticed that the patio by the porch was damp, but it was starting to dry up. Rosie told us that the slabs had been so hot over the past few days that they were not used to cold rain, so that's why the water was being dried up. When I thought about it, that was practically the same thing that happened to me while I was standing by the door in my robe and sneakers. I had been close to shivering because I wasn't used to the cold, but more likely, it probably would've been the fact that I had just got out of a warm bed. However, now I was adjusting to the temperature and my clothes were getting wet, but I didn't care because I was going to dry off and get changed anyway. Soon, me and Lemmy got bored and went back upstairs. When we reached the hallway, Wendy was just coming out of her room. As she closed the door, she gave us a look that said, "What the hell have you guys been doing? Whatever it was, it must've made people think you're weird!"

Lemmy looked up at me, a little hurt.

"Don't worry." I said. "She's just being Wendy."

To avoid being seen through the window, we shut the drapes whilst getting dressed. As if anyone was crazy enough to be outside in this weather, and I doubt that there are any weird people out there who would want to spy on preteens in their underwear. Also, we were shutting out the rain because apparently, bad weather affects your emotions. Luckily, throughout the day, the water dried up completely and the sun came out. Me and Lemmy asked Rosie if we could go in the pool again and it was a yes, but when we looked into the water, there were bugs and leaves in it, so we had to fish all the gunk out with small nets and finally, the water was okay to sit in.

When we had both changed into our trunks and ran up the grass to the pool, there was something I had completely forgotten about. A couple of hours ago, so much rain had fallen and the pool was almost full to the brim, so first, I decided to test it. I slowly stepped in and sat down. When I crouched down as far as I could, all the water spilled out over the sides, but I thought that was the best thing to do if we were to get just the right amount of water. Eventually, we got enough out so Lemmy could get in. We loved relaxing in the pool with music in the background but we were only in there for about half an hour before Rosie called us in for lunch.

We must've had pretty disappointed looks on our faces because she let us eat outside at the table underneath the gazebo. As we were eating, Rosie said to us, "Do you know if your school uniforms still fit you?"

My heart sank. Oh god. I forgot it was like another week until we went back to school and I hated shopping for my new school uniform, especially now there was more to wear. Only a shirt, tie, an optional v-neck pullover, and a blazer, and that was just the top half. Most of the kids at school don't wear the pullover because there's a little bit too much black and our blazer is black as well, so it looks a bit weird. We couldn't go back to our old house and fetch our old uniforms, so we had to buy a whole new set. Rosie said it would arrive in about three days, but because Lemmy is still in Primary school, his uniform will most likely get here earlier than mine, probably because there's less to wear.

But still, I wasn't looking forward to trying everything on. To be fair though, it is for school and I wouldn't want to feel uncomfortable in too-small clothes for six long hours. If only there was one way of retrieving the uniforms from our old house. It seems like I'm causing a lot of drama just because I have no other choice but to try on crisp new clothes, but now after some thinking, I don't think it's going to be too bad…
