Hello everyone! And welcome back to MHA:E!
And… well… this chapter has been a trip as honestly; I've been struggling with it for a while. Legitimately I've been struggling. But now I decided to work with it!
However, as such, I am sadly going to have to inform that the 'quirk analysis' chapter is going to have to wait. I'm still going to introduce the character but as for why the analysis itself is going to wait… it'll be explained in the story as well in the author's note.
But for now? Enjoy!
My Hero Academia: Elphis
Chapter 6
Ketsubutsu for All
As the sun rose the next morning, Izuku would slow open his eyes as the light shined through the window. Glancing around the room, he could see everyone still in their onesies sleeping. He noticed everyone was kind of curled up into one another, leading to a massive pile of people.
However, he then looked over and noticed a sleeping Manami curled up into Maguma. And almost instantly, the girl would wake up and see the position as she jumped awayed with a loud "EEP", almost tumbling away.
…This then caused a chain reaction. Manami jumping back would cause her to bump into Chojuro, startling him as slammed his arm down. That would then startle Tamao who rolled onto Konako's stomach, which caused the white-haired girl to release a cloud of dust in the room. This caused everyone to wake up coughing as Oboro rushed over to the window and opened it, letting the dust escape.
What followed was a moment of silent as everyone got their bearings… before all ten of them burst out laughing. Konako was blushing in embarrassment as she turned Tamao. "What the hell was with the wrestling stomach piledriver!?"
"Hey! Don't look at me! I was startled by the random fist slam by Chojuro!" The bee girl said this as the chimera boy held his hands up in a defensive pose.
"I was minding my own business when I got startled awake myself!" Chojuro said this as everyone turned to Manami who was blushing in embarrassment as she stuttered out apologies. This made everyone shake their head and chuckle as Maguma patted the young girl on the shoulder.
As they laughed though, they were then interrupted by a text message going off on Yumiko's phone. The teens themselves turned to her, slightly confused as the archer looked at the message.
Taking a moment to read it, Yumiko turned to the others as she nodded. "It was Kaina-sensei. Apparently, Ketsubutsu finally finished the hiring process for a new quirk analysis teacher. And she wants us to head to the school to have quirk analysis sessions."
Those words peaked the interest of everyone within the room as they started to ponder on it. After all, this would be professional assistance with their quirks and give them a boost with their repertoire. The group was feeling almost energized and intrigued.
However, within the group, Izuku felt… off. He wasn't sure how to explain it as, for the most part, he knew to be happy and excited. This was a chance to for his friends to grow and he was always excited about their quirks. And yet, there was a strange feeling within himself that he just didn't get-
Oh.
After a moment, it clicked in his mind. What that feeling was.
Jealousy.
He wasn't afraid of losing his friends. His friends have proven time and time again that they would stand by him no matter what. However, that didn't take away from the fact that… this was something that he truly would never have a chance at.
He would never experience the feeling of making a new discovery with a quirk. He would never experience the feeling of having a power unique to himself and watch it grow. He will never have that feeling of… societal identity the others have. Because while the others could experience both sides, he could only truly experience it all as an outsider looking in.
Hiding his expression, Izuku would nod and give a smile. "I'm going to go ahead and change in the bathroom first if that's alright?"
The group would nod in understanding as he would leave the room… though one would keep a close eye before turning to the others.
…
…
…
After heading back home and parting ways with his friends temporarily, Izuku would find himself standing in front of his house, waiting for his ride.
What he didn't expect to come was Kaina-sensei driving a blue mini-van with Yumiko sitting in the passenger seat. The others were sitting in the back as Izuku blinked in confusion before turning to Kaina who had a slight tick mark on her forehead.
As the sniper heroine stepped out of the vehicle, Izuku couldn't help but speak up. "Is… that a mini van?"
Kaina looked away for a moment before turning back with a serious expression. "…It belongs to my partner."
However, Yumiko poked her head out of the passenger window. "It's her car. She's just embarrassed about it." This caused the sniper to turn with a blush and a glare as the archer girl quickly peaked back into the car as she snuck into the back seats with the others.
Izuku blinked as he stared at the two as Kaina sighed. "Yes. It's my car." She then looked at Izuku with a glare. "No jokes… got it?"
The boy held his hands up and nodded rapidly. "No jokes." Getting a nod in response, the boy entered the car's passenger seat, that Yumiko escaped from, as he looked at his sensei preparing to drive. "So… is it normal to be both excited and nervous?"
A small smirk appeared on Kaina's face as she nodded. "If you weren't, I would question what happened to the brat I took under my wing."
…
…
…
Izuku stood there and blinked as he looked up at the building in front of him. "This is really happening… isn't it?" He turned to a smirking Kaina as the group, with the exception of Yumiko, all stared.
"Yep. It is." Kaina walked over and placed a hand on Izuku's shoulder with a grin. "Welcome to Ketsubutsu brats."
Sure enough, the group was standing in front of a front gate before a large school where a bunch of students wearing dark red blazers, dark brown slacks for the boys, dark brown skirts for the girls, and a striped, blue tie for the boys and blue bowtie for the girls.
The school itself was rather large but still at a smaller scale than UA. There was a main fountain in the front along with benches and trees, a large clock at the front that all the students outside could see, and what appeared to be a few different side buildings.
As Izuku gawked at the school, the sounds of footsteps could be approaching. Turning his head, the boy's eyes widened as he saw a familiar man walking forward towards them. "AH! Kaina! There you are!"
The approaching man was an older man with a sturdy muscular physique with spiky, red hair jutting forwards in one place and backwards in two. He was wearing a crimson outfit with a long, red cape with the collar very high and wide with the edges ripped and a three-piece mask over his mouth and nose. His eyes were a fierce crimson and stared down the trio as he stood there confidently.
Kaina gave a small smile. "Hello Principal Haneishi. Is the gym I requested available?"
"BAH! I told you before Kaina! Just call me Akira!" Turning to the new boy who was staring at him shocked. "Ah! Hello there young man! My name is Akira Haneishi! The principal of Ketsubutsu and-"
Izuku cut him off as he pulled out a notebook. "OH MY GOD YOU'RE CRIMSON RIOT!" Yumiko gave a small smile as Kaina sighed. Izuku ignored them as he opened to his page on Crimson Riot and held out the notebook. "CAN I GET YOUR AUTOGRAPH!?"
"BWAHAHAHA!" The man let out a loud hearty laugh as he patted the boy on the shoulder. "Of course! Anything for a fan with such a manly spirit!" Pulling out a pen, he signed the page as he stopped and tilted his head a bit. His eyes then widened in realization. "Oh! You're Izuku Midoriya right?"
Izuku stopped and stared in shock. "Y-Yes. That's me. W-Why do you ask?" He knew that the school would know about him due to Aldera but to know of him specifically. Of course, he didn't notice the others getting on edge as the man waved his hands.
"Whoa, easy there young man! All of you! Just curious to see the young man Kaina brought to my attention." The man sighed and shook his head. "When the HSPC said UA denied a student entry to take the entrance exam, they decided to send a message to all the other schools. I originally was going to agree considering it painted such a twisted individual… but Kaina then explained how it was, and pardon my language, absolute bullshit!"
Kaina shook her head with a fond smile. "Yeah, Principal Haneishi tends to say actions speak louder than words. So when I brought up your drive, he was on board immediately."
"Exactly! BWAHAHAHA! And Kaina, I told you to call me Akira! Can't have my staff be stuffy around me! BWAHAHAHA!" The man walked over and slapped Kaina on the back a couple of times as a tick mark started to grow. She was right now cursing the fact that she couldn't punch him… his quirk hurt.
"Wait… so…" Izuku looked like he was processing this information. "So it wasn't because I was quirkless?"
Akira raised a brow in confusion. "Quirkless? Why does that matter!? No matter the quirk or even if you have no quirk, what determines a hero is their manly spirit!" He then patted the boy on the head. "And I can just tell that by looking at you…" The chivalrous hero watched as a fire was burning behind the boy's eyes. A fire that has face hardship but has slowly been burning brighter once more. "…That you've got a manly spirit like none other!"
However, the principal paused and looked in confusion as Izuku was standing there extremely teary eyed as the others shook their head fondly.
Once the boy calmed down and the group headed off, Akira would stand there with a smile on his face. "Looks like we're going to have a brand new generation of top heroes… I can just tell."
Entering the building, Izuku gawked a bit at the size. "Well brats. Welcome to Gym Zeta." The gym was rather expansive and held a bunch of test courses, targets, a sparring ring, changing rooms, and so on. There was a lot to it. However, Kaina just chuckled and shook her head. "Don't expect the other gyms to be like this. Ketsubutsu isn't at UA levels of funding, but they still gave as much as they could, especially for the gyms. The other five gyms function for the different kinds of hero training offered."
Yumiko, who left the group before everyone else, exited the girls changing rooms and was now in sports gear, nodded. "Gym Alpha tackles battle heroics. Gym Beta handles limelight heroics. Gym Gamma handles underground heroics." She then looked around this gym. "Gym Delta is for twilight heroics, Gym Epsilon is for rescue heroics, and finally Gym Zeta was made for quirk analysis and quirk training."
Kaina nodded as she turned to the others. "She nailed it completely. Currently Principal Haneishi is going through the finalization of the positions… but a new Quirk Analysis teacher has been hired. We're just waiting on him right now."
"Hopefully not too long." Entering the room was the man Kaina met the night before as he scratched the back of his head. "Was busy with some work."
However, a girl around the teens ages scoffed behind the man. She had black medium length hair that she wore up in pigtails on the sides of her head, short bangs that hung halfway down her forehead, and two shoulder-length, thick strands of hair left out to frame her face. Her eyes were dark brown, almost cat-like, while her outfit consisted of a NASA bomber jacket, a plain light mint green shirt, a pair of jeans and a pair of familiar red shoes.
The girl gave the man a glare before she turned to Kaina. "This idiot stayed up late because he had to 'finish the limited time raid' on his videogame."
"I'm the guild's top AOE Wizard! It was a mob rush event!" The man looked at the girl with a look stating that it was serious.
However, the girl just gave a deadpan stare. "…really?" She would also raise a brow as if this was a conversation they have had many times in the past.
"ANYWAYS!" Turning to the group, he gave a nervous smile and scratched his neck a bit before a stop. "Sorry… nervous tick. Ahem! Introductions!"
He gave a nervous smile as he gestured to himself. "My name is Tenko Shimura and I'm Ketsubutsu's new Quirk Analysis teacher." He then turned to the girl next to him. "And this is my younger sister Hana."
The girl gave a grin and a mock salute. "Heya. Sorry for this dork's flakiness. He's a game nerd who doesn't do the whole talking thing."
Tenko rolled his eyes and nudged Hana a bit. "Oh ha ha. Very funny." Turning to the group, he smiled. "Anyways, I'm hear to assist in buffing up your skills."
Izuku smiled at this as he felt a hand pat him on the back. "In that case, want an assistant?" Rumi was standing behind him with a grin as she grabbed one of his notebooks. "Cause Greenie here is the biggest hero and quirk nerd around."
The verdantette groaned as he Tenko took the notebook. "Seriously Rumi, it's fine… my rambles aren't-"
"Well what do you know? A possible tactician class!" The boy turned to Tenko who was looking at the notebook impressed.
Even his sister looked shocked. "Wait what? Don't you normally find rookie analysis as crap?"
"Well, yeah. Rookie analysis." Tenko shook his head with a smile. "But considering this is number 11 of however many, it's clear to see that the kid's progressed in the skill tree." He looked down at the notes with a nod. "It's still obvious that it's a self-made build but with more fine tuning… he could become a top ranker."
Izuku blinked in confusion before his jaw dropped a bit. "Wait really?"
"Oh yeah. Of course, there is much to improve on as you tend to go either completely into strengths or miss a few steps here or there." Tenko would close the notebook and hand it back to Izuku with a grin. "But given enough time, considering this is all self-taught? You can go far kid. How about you take a look at how I tackle things here for some extra lessons?"
The verdantette would nod as his friends chuckled. Tenko would then turn to the others with a grin as he clapped his hands. "So, let the character build study session commence!"
Izuku would nod and start to walk over towards Kaina-sensei as he wasn't really going to participate. Kaina-sensei looked at him with a slight smirk as she then looked past him, making the verdantette confused.
Turning to the group, Izuku, Tenko, and Hana would notice that they all seemed rather unmoving. After a bit, Chojuro would speak up as he scratched the back of his head. "If it's alright with you… we all kind of want to avoid the quirk analysis for now."
This was a shock to not only Tenko, but Izuku as well as he spoke up. "Wait what?"
"I kind of figured." The two would turn to Kaina with an exasperated smile. Looking at Izuku, she shook her head but still held her smile. "You really do leave an impact, huh brat?"
Tenko, starting to understand, would hold up a hand with a smile, stopping Izuku from speaking. He then looked at the group. "I'm guessing there's a reason as to why?"
"Yep." Tamao would speak up this time as she grinned. "We don't want our hand held all the way to the finish line."
Maguma would then step forward. "It was something that we discussed in the morning together. Truthfully, the quirk analysis felt like a golden opportunity… but also one that we want to avoid until we pass the exam."
Following up would be Konako with a smirk of her own as she nodded. "Yeah. If we can't figure out shit with our own quirks before the exam, how can we honestly say we gave it our all?"
Finally, Rumi stepped forward. "Besides…" She would walk over to Izuku and sling an arm around his neck as she brought him over to the group. "How can we do this if we don't got Greenie with us?"
"Wait what!?" Izuku turned to Rumi shocked as the rabbit girl had… a gentler smile.
"You were as slick as you thought this morning Greenie." Rumi then pointed to a nervous waving Manami. "Pinkie noticed your look this morning and relayed it to us."
Izuku turned to Manami who blushed in nervousness as she started to stutter and speak. "I-I… w-well… … l-last night was a m-mystery for me." She would grip her arm in fear as she nodded. "There w-was always belief I h-had a quirk. Only we n-never knew how it worked or h-how to access it. So for so long… I w-was considered quirkless." Looking up at the verdantette with a determined expression, she continued. "And I c-could tell the signs r-right away because I was used to them m-myself."
What Izuku didn't realize was that tears were starting to form within his eyes. The others gained a smile as they formed around and faced the two professors, both smiling with understanding.
Rumi, grinning wildly and arm still slung around Izuku's shoulder, pumped her fist a bit. "So sorry, but you're going to have to hold on those lessons. Cause we're in this together!"
The group remained determined as Izuku composed himself. Turning to the teachers, Izuku stood tall and smiled. "Well… they said their piece. I guess I should say mine." Pulling out the makeshift weapon that he created that one night, he looked up at Kaina. "If I'm guessing right… you got a more complete weapon created for me, right?" Receiving a nod in response, the verdantette smiled. "Keep it until I pass."
Turning to his friends, the boy… the young boy who not long ago had been standing alone as the world beat him down. In a brief moment, a memory of him all alone appeared before vanishing to the truth before him. Izuku does not need to bite his tongue anymore. His friends are standing with him.
The verdantette would turn back to his teacher and smile. "I still have to prove that I can truly make it with everything I got…" He then shook his head. "No… WE have to show that we can make it with everything WE got." Standing triumphantly, he smiled.
Nearby, however, Hana would be frowning as she clenched her arm in frustration. She couldn't even stop herself from speaking. "Why are you so determined to avoid the help?"
Turning to the girl, she had a frustrated look. "Wouldn't it just be easier to just take the help? I mean, you pretty much have the path forward set for you. Isn't it just better to take it?"
However, what the verdantette nor anyone else knew… Hana was more projecting then anything. Because she was holding a secret within herself.
After all, those shoes she was wearing were familiar for a reason. She was born quirkless just like Izuku and those were a pair of Primordial Reds. However, unlike the verdantette, Hana actually had a quirk. The official story was that she was a late bloomer who had an energy stockpiling quirk that had similar aspects to her deceased grandmother's quirk. The true story was much more complicated.
For Hana was the ninth wielder of One for All. A quirk passed down from generation to generation. A legacy that her grandmother had carried once before and now she did.
And even with her struggles with the quirk, she finds herself stuck. She loves her grandmother, she really does. But this quirk inside her was the same thing that destroyed her family in the views of her father. And while she doesn't fully believe that… she can't help but worry that following the path given to her would cause her to fall in the same struggles.
But she would be dragged out of her thoughts as Izuku chuckled weakly and nodded. "You're right. It would be easier to accept the help. And honestly, what we're doing is probably so much more difficulty for no point what-so-ever." Hana would go to respond but Izuku continued. "But we're still going to do it."
He had a determined fire within his eye as he stepped forward and stood in front of the younger Shimura. "What we're doing is reckless and problematic. And we're going to face hardship after hardship. But we're doing it because we choose our own path. We're going to show we have what it takes and no matter what, we're going to do it our way."
…
A moment of silence would pass… and the sounds of a girl laughing could be heard. It wasn't a laughter of malice or anything. Rather, the group would see Hana laughing with slight tears of her own as she stood in front of Izuku. Taking a glance down at her hand, she continued to laugh with a smile. "Is it that simple…"
Could she follow her own path?
Feeling the energy pulsing underneath her skin, Hana froze when she thought she could hear a voice. One that she didn't know but felt comfort and connection with.
"Fly free little flower."
There would be confusion until what appeared to be an array of purple wisps of wind formed around her. Tenko's eyes widened as the girl started to slowly float up into the air. After a few moments, she would start to fly around the room before landing in front of the group.
Laughing still with a big smile, she would wipe some tears from her eyes. "Sorry… just… you ironically helped me out." She pointed down to her shoes which made Izuku's eyes widen. They were the same shoes as Izuku's… Primordial Reds. "Yeah. I'm a late bloomer. And it's been impossible." Sighing a bit, she gained a sad smile. "My quirk is an energy stockpile. A strong one at that. And it was a lot like my grandmother's quirk and my stepdad's quirks. So, I just… thought I had to follow in their footsteps."
"But because we talked about carving our own path…" Izuku was slowly catching on with how they unintentionally helped. And he was ignoring his friends behind him who were passing around money. Of course they made a bet, because why wouldn't they?
Hana nodded with a smile. "It made me think about how I should do the same." She then looked down at the wisps around her. "And now it's felt like a burden's been taken off of me."
Before anything else could be said, Yumiko would walk forward and hold out a hand. "It seems you were pulled into the friendship of Izuku as well. Welcome to the Shrubhead friend group." Izuku blushed as all the others nodded along.
Hana blinked for a moment before she laughed once more. "Well damn. That makes it sound like a joined a cult or something."
Izuku facepalmed as his friends were snickering. "You make ONE tired text… ONE!"
However, they would all stop as stepping forward, Kaina had a smile on her face with closed eyes. "Now, ignoring the 'power of friendship' jokes… I am proud of you. You completed one of the tasks I gave you, which was to created ten connections." A tick mark then started to form on her head. "However… When it came to deciding to decline the quirk analysis…"
But before anyone could say anything else, the teens then felt a familiar miasma form around Kaina-sensei as she stood there with crossed arms and a twitch to her eyebrow. "None of you couldn't have said anything BEFORE we booked this gym for the whole fucking day!?"
…The group was silent as they stood there. The sniper heroine just shook her head as she transformed her arm into a rifle. "That's it. Evasive maneuvers training. No quirks or there will be special punishment. Starting in one minute."
As soon as she said that all the teens grew pale as Oboro yelled out loud. "EVERY MAN OR WOMAN FOR THEMSELVES!" The comradery fell immediately as all ten teens rushed to the main doorway, getting stuck a bit. Some were hopping onto others while they burst through the bottle neck and booked it.
Tenko and Hana started to laugh, but then Hana froze as the miasma slowly shifted to her. "Oh, you're part of their group now floaty brat. That means you're part of this training… and there's only thirty seconds left."
"…DAMN YOU SHRUBHEAD!" Hana rushed towards same doorway, slowly catching up to the group. As she reached them, she turned and glared at Izuku. "Why did you convince me to join your group NOW of all times!?" A blank round suddenly flew past them as Kaina started to chase after them.
In an instant, all nine other teens turned to Hana and yelled at the same time. "POWER OF FRIENDSHIP IS A BITCH!"
"OH COME ON!" Izuku yelled out loud as the eleven teens started to laugh and scream.
What followed was an event the older students and teachers would remember for a long time. For the next generation was running across the school field while being chased by an ex-heroine who was firing blanks at them. Despite that, large smiles were on all their faces.
…
…
…
Looking down at her phone, Hana smiled as she stared at her new background. It was a picture of her with her new group of friends. They were all slightly bruised and didn't fully escape the sniper heroine's rain… but they were all smiling.
Reaching her front door, she pocketed her phone. "I'm home!"
Walking into the living room, Hana watched as a woman walked out with a worried expression. She had light brown eyes, similar coloured hair that parted in the middle from her face in bangs with uneven waves that grew to her shoulders, a curvaceous body, and what appeared to be a prosthetic left arm. Her appearance was a simple black shirt with a corduroy skirt and a pair of slippers. This was none other than Nao Shimura. "Hana… was everything alright? Tenko came home before you and- are you injured!?"
The girl sighed as she looked at her mother with a smile. "I'm fine Mom. It actually went really well. As for these… well… blame the power of friendship." The mother looked confused as Hana chucked a bit. She then looked over towards the kitchen to see four plates set up as she turned to her mom with a cheeky grin. "Oh? Are they coming home for once for supper? Wishing you could have a romantic dinner of two?"
Nao blushed as she stammered. "H-Hana! That's not it at all!" She then rubbed her prosthetic arm with her other arm as she looked nervous. "We can have something like that another time…"
Hana listened as she gained a frown. "Mom." Once the mother turned to the daughter, the girl smiled. "I know I'm teasing… but seriously mom… I know how hard it is for you, so don't worry."
The girl never said much about it, but the family came from a dark place. Her father, Kotaro, was a massive hero hater. So much so that whenever she and her older brother Tenko tried to look at heroes, he freaked out. Hana was too young to fully understand but liked heroes, especially her grandmother… something that angered Kotaro.
Her mother tried to protect her and Tenko, but Kotaro wasn't having it. It wasn't until the freak accident that it occurred. The ending result was dangerous that resulted in loss of life as well as her mother losing her arm.
However, they did find a shining light that day. Said shining light knocked on the door. Entering the room was a very skinny man with sharp, angular features and long limbs. His neck extended and his eyebrows were absent while his hair was blonde, wavy, and was with two long strands coming down from his hairline and framing his face. He was also wearing a baggy suit that didn't fully fit him.
Seeing the two, he gave a big smile. "Ah! Nao, Hana! Sorry for being late."
Hana hid a snicker as her mother blushed. Nao gave her daughter a look before turning to the blonde entering. "Ah no! You're not late. I'm still working on supper. Hopefully it will be a nice meal after a long EASY day of hero work, right Toshi?" She then gained a serious expression. "You're have been taking things easy… right?"
Toshinori Yagi started to sweat a bit as he turned to Hana. The girl just shook her head as she pulled up her phone and showed it to her mother. Nao took the phone and read what Hana brought up with a frown. "…All Might stops twelve villains, seven robberies and helps one old lady across the street… all within two hours?"
Hana just took her phone from her mother. "I'll go get the cave gremlin." And walked away as Toshinori stared at his stepdaughter in slight betrayal.
Yes… stepdaughter. After the freak accident, her mother struggled to care for them… until they were found by Toshinori Yagi, aka All Might. It was a shock to learn that their grandmother had a student who vowed to help take care of them since he felt that he failed their grandmother.
Time passed and Toshinori became the father they were desperate for as well as Hana watching her mother and Toshinori dance around their feelings for one another. It was as painful as it sounds and it took forever but the two married, becoming Nao Shimura-Yagi as she couldn't fully remove that past. Hana stuck with her last name being Shimura.
Standing outside of a door, Hana looked up to see the name tag on the door. Tenko Shimura. When it came to the accident… Nao, Hana and Tenko were the only ones to have survived that night. Kotaro, their grandparents, and their dog sadly did not.
Opening the door, Hana starred at the room filled with game systems, video game posters, and picture frames with family photos. Walking into the room, Hana saw Tenko leaning over his desk groaning.
Hana rolled her eyes as she walked over and gave the man a whack on the head. The man's face went forward into the table before snapped back up and gave the girl a glare. "What the hell Hana!?"
The girl just shrugged. "That's for bailing on me for earlier. Sure, it was nice to hang out with new friends, but you were my ride dammit. Also, Mom says its time for supper. And for you to get out of your gremlin cave." Looking down at the desk, she raised an eyebrow. "Another commission?"
Tenko nodded as he sighed. "Yep. While the quirk analysis job is what I dreamed for… I'm still not starting until the next school year. But I also still wanna work as a hero costume designer." However, he groaned as he placed his face in his hands. "I swear, these heroes really screw up too much. Some complain about pricing, others the design… but… quality of quantity dammit. Don't they understand why durability is important?"
Hana snorted as she gained a small grin. "Hey. Less gamer speak please… I dealt with it enough earlier today. And I'm not like your girlfriend who can stand that for some unknown reason."
This caused the man to blush and push his little sister away with a huff. "Cheeky brat." Hana just laughed as she moved to leave the room. However, before she could Tenko turned to Hana. "Oh yeah. I got your first draft of your hero outfit finished. Want me to email it to UA?"
This made Hana stop for a moment as she remembered what occurred earlier on that day. Gaining a smile she turned to him and shook her head. "Nope. Send it to Ketsubutsu."
Tenko raised a brow but had a big grin on his face. After what happened earlier in the day, he expected this as the girl started to leave the room. "Alright then. Make sure to tell Dad about this decision though. Apparently he had some sort of plan."
Hana nodded and left the room, returning to see Nao standing there with a newspaper and crossed arms. Meanwhile, Toshinori was sitting in seiza as he was sweating nervously. Hana decided to throw her stepdad a chance. "Hey Mom? Before you kill dad, can you let me talk to him about me changing my choice of schooling?"
This made the two adults stop as they turned to her. Toshinori looked confused at Hana. "Changing choice- Are you not going to UA?"
"Nope. Ketsubutsu." Hana gave a smile as the purple wisps of wind appeared around her again, causing her mother to gasp and Toshinori's eyes to widen as Hana floated up lightly with a smile. A smile similar to that of her grandmother. "I don't want to leave my new friends." She continued to smile as she thought back to today. "They are crazy, chaotic, and overall a blast to be around. Plus, with all of them applying to go to Ketsubutsu, it just seems like the right choice."
Toshinori would nod at her words but would have a small smile. "I see. Though, Ketsubutsu is not the only school you can go to for that. Have they not thought about applying to UA or Shiketsu?"
Hana would then frown as she remembered one of the conversations from before. Where she had asked about why they all decided to go to this school… and just how much of a leader, (despite him not knowing it), Izuku was. "Well… they kinda can't. One of them was sabotaged and is blacklisted from Heroics programs, including UA."
"What? Why?" Nao would speak up concerned and confused. Was this friend of hers a hooligan?
Hana would give a pained smile and point down to her shoes. "Well… he's quirkless like I am- I was. But he has a chance to get into Ketsubutsu and is working hard." She then turned to Toshinori with a chuckle. "He's actually a lot like you dad… wanting to bring a smile and show the world that anyone can be a hero."
"…Then I can't wait to see him as a hero in the future." Toshinori had a smile on his face. "Very well. While it throws my plan to be a teacher for you at UA in a loop… that doesn't mean I can't figure out a way to help out in other ways. No matter the school, I will support you no matter what." He then gave her a stern but caring look. "You know that your path will be different then before… potentially more difficult?"
At those words, Hana gave a big wide smile as she stood determined. "And I wouldn't have it any other way." In that moment, she thought she felt a comforting hand on her shoulder as she stood tall. And in that moment, stepfather and daughter looked at one another, ready for the future.
However, after a bit, Hana would stop then gained a bit of a smirk. "As a side note… mind helping me with something funny?"

FloatinButterfly: Got lucky. Ran into All Might and got an autograph to the Cult Leader.
CloudinMonkey: …That would do it.
ShrubinBunny: APIHSDOAJINPKSDOSFNWIPSACDJONQGIKBFBSA
RockinBee: Damn. He's not even responding to the cult allegation. You really broke him.

Izuku Midoriya's Ketsubutsu Analysis for the Future – Book #1
Entry 5: Tsumuji Kazetani
- The wisecracking final member of the former Volcano Thieves. Met him on a roof [which they won't let go] after helping him and Konako escape the police.
- Quirk: Fan. Instead of fingers, Tsumuji has fan blades which when combined with his ability to rotate his wrists, allows him to produce wind with it. From what he talked about, Tsumuji can only use his quirk for a maximum of a minute at a time or else he'll suffer from Tenosynovitis. But could there be a way to work with the time limit rather then try to extend it?
- Just to be curious, I talked Tsumuji about other school options and he asked if I was okay in the head. Needless to say, I stopped asking questions about it but then again… with Maguma and Konako sticking to the path of Ketsubutsu, I doubted the idea of him not doing the same. They are a trio after all.
- Tsumuji is rather crafty with trying to trip the opponent up with his quirk. He uses his quirk mostly for combat but has been getting into using knives as well as a Japanese war fan.
- Tsumuji, as stated before, is the wisecracker of the trio. He tends to speak before the filter in his mind stops himself, leading to sometimes angering people… mainly Konako. However, he tends to be rather airheaded with his nature. But he's always someone who can help bring a laugh whenever needed.
Overall Review: Tsumuji is sometimes too fast like the wind he generates with his quirk. He rushes ahead, presses the wrong buttons, and is easily the younger brother of the trio. However, while he's not the most down to earth and wise, he is still rather skilled and adaptive. He's a tricky foe but an incredible friend who is usually a blast to be around… even if he sometimes puts his foot in his mouth.
-TO BE CONTINUED-
Hello everyone! Void here!
Sorry for the delay. Been struggling with this chapter for a while to be completely honest. So many decisions and so many choices as to how to write it.
But HERE WE GO! SO LONG CANON! We're going full throttle with this!
Because our eleventh member of the cast is none other than the ninth holder of One for All… Hana Shimura! Also… yep MadTitan9. You noticed the hints I laid out! Mwahahaha!
Like I said, Canon is pretty much dead at this point.
So, before we go to the big elephant in the room, I'm gonna go over a few things. Mainly about the staff members we have seen in this chapter. …One also being a big elephant in the room.
First up is Akira Haneishi aka Crimson Riot! Now, why on earth did I make Crimson Riot the principal? Simple.
The principal has to be an individual with three things. Experience, Wisdom, and Leadership. Crimson Riot, while not much is known, is known to be a wise hero with a strong feeling of leadership. Plus with his age, he's got lots of experience.
Plus, Ketsubutsu? It literally translates to "Heroic Figure". And I figured, (no pun intended), that a strong figure to lead these heroes would be none other than Crimson Riot. Crimson Riot is going to be, in a way, kind of like the All Might of Ketsubutsu combined with Nedzu in some respects. He's not going to an 'unkillable god' like All Might. Nor a 'genius mastermind' like Nedzu.
Instead, Crimson Riot will shine more as time goes on! But man… Kirishima and Tetsutetsu are going to be so jealous.
Now, for the big elephants in the room… I feel like I should tell you all a tale. A tale of how my choice of One for All successor for this story came to be. See, because the original plan for this story consisted of following the canon plot, I wanted a user of One for All. And I was going through the options.
I COULD have gone with the easy pick of Melissa Shield, but it just… didn't feel right. See, Melissa was motivated to be a hero like her father. A support gear inventor. So taking that away just didn't feel right for this story.
Nor did giving Togata the quirk feel right. I wanted to stick to the source material on how the quirk worked. …If you know, you know. If you don't know? Spoiler alert.
But One for All, for the ninth user, could only be handled by someone Quirkless. Look into the history of Hikage Shinomori. For those who don't know, Hikage was the fourth user of One for All who trained alone with it for years before he passed it on. He was slowly dying of old age… … he was 40.
So, I needed a different option. The first pick I had was Chikuchi Togeike from the General Education course. Some people have used her in the past and truthfully, I planned to use her too. But then I started to change the cast around and realized that… I didn't have much story wise. Like, yes. She had One for All… but I wanted more to it.
This lead to another deep dive of characters. And through it all, I ended up looking into Nana Shimura… which lead to Hana Shimura… and the lines connected.
The timeframe is a little wonky, but Hana just felt like the right option. I went through other choices but none quite fit like Hana did. Which lead to the prospect of being adopted by Yagi Toshinori.
…And then that's where things got weird. See, at first, Tenko was still Tomura. But as time went on, I kinda made some changes to the prospect I had. First was Nao Shimura surviving as well with it somehow leading to the relationship between her and Yagi. And then after a while, it somehow led to the prospect of Tenko having family that cared for him.
Which ended with our result of older brother Tenko, Yagi being the father that stepped up, and a happy family for the Shimura's.
Which then led to me making Tenko the Quirk Analysis teacher! My reasoning for this one is much simpler. He's a gamer while also being rather intelligent. He was literally able to count the tells of Eraserhead during the USJ Arc. He's a smart guy and would be a cool role to have.
As the QA teacher, I wanted to keep the concept that he is shown in the media to be an intelligent man. In the USJ fight, he literally counted the gaps between Eraserhead's quirk use. And as shown in the chapter, his quirk shows a priority for safety and control, which I feel is something that will be DESPERATELY needed.
…
As for a big thing… why did I change my mind on the quirk analysis chapter?
Answer: It's not the right time.
Like I said in the chapter, I realized that giving quirk analysis now? Would make it kind of pointless when we got into the main story. And it made me realize that if I went with the analysis now, then I would be giving too many options and opportunities. And that's not really the message of this story? The story is about becoming a hero through determination and hope. How the training with Kaina is just training.
But the quirk analysis feels more specialized and that's why I started having second thoughts. Because that's turning these teens working their hardest into teens being given every opportunity. And the truth is that… that's unrealistic.
Which is why I had them decline the analysis. Additionally, the story is about the comradery of these students, and I feel like this moment would show their determination to work together. Same with Izuku declining the weapon right now. It's a rite of passage.
Hope that explains the reasoning.
…
And finally, one more thing.
The first is that… YEAH! I am going 100% start to calm down on the massive group chapters. I want the characters to feel special and while I will have chapters with multiple characters… Yeahhhhhh it's a lot of characters.
So for my sanity and yours, I will try to make this work.
…
Now… did I miss anything else?
-peeks at comments-
…Huh?
Kuronoka: I am confused, I have read the 4th chapter with Rumi dut in ch.1 Izuku referenced her as the hero Mirko. Is it a mistake, you forgot, it doesn't matter? I like your take of the story Void and I'm not going to be like "tHisH iSh trRaSh" just wanted to let you know.
Did I?
-peeks back-
…Well shit. I did. Thanks for pointing this out!
Yeah, I'll be real. I'm only one guy. So that was honestly just a mistake/forgetting about it. See, I'll admit… I'm making the cast as I go along. It's why this 'Entrance Exam/Training Arc' is taking so long.
Once I have the characters, I can focus more on their stories and expanding out the characters. But right now, I'm stuck figuring that out.
But as for the mistake, yeahhhhhh this was back when I first posted. Back then, it was called Vindication instead of Elphis as I was focusing on 'villain' characters to be heroes. Problem was that most of the characters were USJ villains and I've found myself enjoying them as side characters.
So back then, I had no intention of using Rumi as a character for the cast. Soooo I forgot about that after so many months. Thanks for reminding me about it! I fixed it really quick!
Also, yes. I read the comments. I'm slow but I'm always keeping an eye out. If you guys have character suggestions, feel free to comment them! Though, if it helps… I use the Wiki for a lot of this so please let me know if you can find them on their or not.
Now… onto the cast list!
