Crazy...isn't it..
How much can some events shatter a person so deeply that they stop feeling everything. They just hibernate in the worst kind of sad...numb.
Truth sucks often times when the one person you love the most, who you thought is the most wonderful person in tbe universe, turns out to be the one filled with loads of bull crap. It eats people alive...
But then there are actual wonderful people who may not be filled with wonder probably but some can be...can't really say. These wonder filled people are in everyone's life at one point or the other and it's just to recognize that it's our bounty period and we should just go ham crazy and live it to the fullest with them.
Not wait.
Not lie down and over think if it's the right thing...of course it's the right thing, you idiot!
Just dive already!
A stretched out limousine...which it already is...stretched out.
She came out with Edward, wearing a black hair net and huge oversized sunglasses…
Sunglasses under the moon...not so much a good combo...She thought
She had to do it to conceal herself.
The same restaurant, same wooden massive royal carved gateway and she couldn't help but smile.
They entered and the same scent lurked up her nostrils...she again went towards the same spot glancing sideways and in front of her and she didn't see...
He isn't here today...and why on earth would anyone come to the same restaurant two days in a row? ...She thought
She took out her phone which she remembered to bring with her today and inspected her face closely in it.
And that's when someone tapped on her right shoulder.
She turned around instantaneously.
"Mr. Flint wants you in the banquet area." The waiter stood behind her who wore the exact same dress as Jacob except for the black chic pants and a bow tie and a half jacket which the waiter had extra or to be correct they had nothing in common except for the white shirt.
She followed the waiter who went by everyone's table where people ate and she realised something peculiar in the moment.
Why are all these people the same as yesterday?...she thought.
They were all laughing and chatting just like yesterday as if it was a movie or a play where everything was the same no matter how many times you watch it.
This restaurant was a theatre with the same movie playing over and over again.
Weird..she thought
Tables and people and the granite floor, she passed it all reaching a corner in the restaurant.
"Wait here, Madame." The waiter said
He went past her and she got busy in her phone again. That's when all of a sudden, he grabbed her wrists, tying them together with a stiff band. She screeched loud enough for everyone in the whole restaurant to hear. Kicking and punching to free herself from the grasp of the waiter but all that it did was hurt her wrists even more and more.
What's this band made of...she thought
She kicked back and it did hit something but then he dragged her to a nearby pillar and tied her there. Her arms stretched backwards paining her shoulders and stretching her arms intensely. She groaned with pain. The handbag which Edward handed over to her inside the car on the way was lying on the floor now. The waiter picked it up and ran out of her sight.
"Hey, please help me... ANYONE!"
Tons of people in front of her sat on different tables in different areas of the restaurant but shockingly, nobody even looked at her. How crazy that these people were laughing and talking and eating and doing everything else but didn't look at her as if she didn't even existed.
WOW!...she thought
"Help me!"
"It hurts like hell...!"
"Please, ANYONE!"
"Please..."
"I beg..."
Her throat felt dry and croaky due to the fact that she'd been shouting for help but no one even looked at her.
Why doesn't anyone look at me...am I dead?...she thought
"YOU BLOODY IDIOTS... DON'T YOU SEE ME!"
Her breathing got heavier and heavier and it seemed as if her chest might explode.
"Hey... don't."
It was Jacob.
"Oh my God...it's you."
"Don't speak." He whispered as gently as it was an ASMR. He unbuckled her hands and he held her by the shoulder and took her to the rooftop which seemed to be the only vacant area.
It was cold here and the night looked so perfect and animated as if someone just drew the moon by a dark white crayon and the perfectly twinkling stars adorning the black veil of sky like diamonds on a dark lady. She hugged herself to provide herself some of the warmth but futile it was in that frost biting night.
"Are you okay?" He asked
"Yeah..."
"What happened back there?"
"I don't know...this guy just came and said that Edward was calling me."
"Edward?"
"My husband."
"Oh.."
"Then, he took me to this area and tied my arms to a pillar and I screamed out for help from all these people but not a single one of them budged."
"They're all fake."
"What?"
"They're just a projection."
No way...she thought
"How?"
"Yes...I know it sounds like a big fat lie but the reason they can't budge is because they are not what they seem to be."
"There is no possible way..."
"It's a fine innovation in science which makes the surroundings appear that way."
"That's crazy." She had an urge to go downstairs and perceive them all once again.
"Where's Edward?"
"How can I know?"
"Did he sent him?" Jacob added
"The waiter...?"
"Yeah"
"No...can't be. The waiter, I told you already, was trying to hurt me."
Jacob fell silent and went towards the railing of the rooftop gazing down on the street lit with neon yellow street lights. She trailed behind him.
"I want to go back."
"Back in there?"
"I don't know...I wanna be with Edward right now."
"I am afraid you can't meet him."
"Why?"
"The men under this roof are all predators for..." He stopped
"For..?"
"For people like you. Innocent lives."
A lie...she thought
"Edward is innocent as well. He is my husband...I know..."
"If he were... he'd be dead by now." He cut her words off.
"Be clear!"
"You think it's all safe as your own house? People if got a single change would slit your throat open and the shocking thing is...no one will know about it. Not the police...not even Edward. They are cleverer than the fox."
"Why would anyone want to kill me? I am not a part of anything."
"I guess your husband must be. Otherwise...you getting coiled up in all this mess is almost incredulous to my eyes."
"Come again...my husband is in what?"
"I think he is alive."
"Edward?"
"Because if he weren't, then you'd either be absolutely safe or shot dead instantly."
"I don't wanna be involve in any of this."
"I am afraid you'd never be able to get out of this."
"Why is that?"
"Because the one thing to set you free is also binding you to this vile process."
"What is it?"
"Edward...kill him."
The wind whistled through the dark starry night making the human voices fall silent and the nature to rise.
"Get the hell out of here!" She yelled.
"I know you want him dead."
"Edward charged with drug trafficking who has been overdosing on crack for decades now. Surely, his wife must be well aware of the various occurring facets and different faces of him." He added
"What are you talking about?"
"Are you happy with him?"
"Your expressions don't say that you are." He added
"Stay out of my area."
"Husband who is an addict and is involved in drug trafficking back and forth having illegal contracts and deals...huh? Interestingly enough, I wonder what else could he be like."
Silence on her part...
Who is this Jacob Black...pilot or a detective? She thought
"Is he abusive?"
Her eyes shot up at him with dread lurking within. The cold wind drying up her unblinking eyes making them water.
Abusive... physical or mental...she thought.
"I don't share my marital private details with a stranger."
"Physically abusive...I can't really say. He must be working on it. But emotionally abusive..." He grinned looking at something far in the space.
"You're scaring me."
"Not more than your husband, I think."
"What do you want?"
"Edward is dead."
"Already as I said it." He added
"Stop selling your crap to me."
She took out her phone and searched for his contact in her contact list.
"It's futile...if you do it nonetheless, you'd be calling a pretender, not the actual Edward."
"Put a cork stopper on your bloody mouth."
She put the phone to her ear listening to the ringing sound and went a couple of steps away from him.
"Hey...Edward?"
"Where are you?" She added almost instantly.
"Bel, he's…I'm so sorry." Patty answered back sobbing hard and her voice got all muffled due to the uncontrollable shaking.
"Hey Patty, are you listening to me?"
More sobbing...
"Hey Patty...can you please..."
"I am so sorry, Bella."
The crying doesn't stop.
She turned around and looked at Jacob in disbelief as if someone just hit her as hard as possible with a sledgehammer. The blood within her broiled with suspicion, agony and a deep inexplicable grief. Her face got hotter and her own skin stung her.
"Patty please...talk to me." Her eyes stung due to the cold wind mixed with the tears.
"Can you please..." She added
Patty just couldn't talk to her. She was in shock but so was Bella...
"Might as well ask me."Jacob said grabbing her attention.
"Patty?" Her voice cracked as if she was gonna burst out crying any minute.
"They don't know."
"Patty?" She ignored him
"I wish..." Patty spoke and the line went dead.
"Patty... Are you there?" Her nerves freaking out at the line just cutting off like that.
She phoned her back.
"She wouldn't answer."
"And why is that?"
He grinned mischievously.
And she didn't answer.
"No one has your answers...except me."
"I don't care about your goddamn answers. Where is Edward? Tell me...WHERE IS Edward!" She screamed
"You heard her correct. He is no more. I offer my deepest condolences."
"I don't give a crap about your filthy condolences! Tell me..." She advanced towards him as if charging at him with a pistol. "You...I swear, I am going to kill you! Where is Edward? What did you do to him?" She grabbed his collar dragging him in.
"But that's what you wanted... isn't it. Him to be dead?"
"Shut up! SHUT... UP!" She screeched on top of her lungs.
She loved Edward despite of what he had become. Nevertheless, she did ...and right now, she did even more.
"You wanna know who killed him?" He asked
Hot tears streaming down her eyes making the whole vision blurry. Her body shaking uncontrollably feeling the cold air but also the rage within.
"You!" He spit out, "It was you who killed him."
"What!"
"Yes...you took that sharp silver knife slicing his throat and then hitting him with the same dagger in his belly."
"I think it's you and that's why you're making up anything and just saying it." She said
"Try to remember what happened on 8th of February?"
8th of February...a normal day with not so much to do. She stayed in the hotel whilst Edward went out to play golf with his buddies.
"I was home and he went out."
"Is that it?"
"Yeah...but why are you asking me that?"
"8th of February... Edward's murder."
"And today is..."
"8th of February."
"What!"
"He has been murdered today."
"How?"
"You did it."
"No...I didn't. I can't."
"Yes, you did."
"Where were you before arriving here?"
"I was in the hotel."
"Where was Edward?"
"I don't know. He has been to a multitude of places today...first golf and then..."
"And then...?"
"I can't remember."
"You're lying!"
"No I am not!"
"You killed him with your bare hands...you can't forget that...can you?"
Did I...but I was in the hotel sleeping. Or no...I did wake up but that was just two hours of cooking and then I went back to sleep...she thought
"What did you do all day long." He asked
"I cooked for a couple of hours and chopped some vegetables."
"Chopped?"
"Yeah"
"With?"
The knife...she thought
"The knife..."
"And then...?"
"I drifted back to sleep."
"I wish you did." He said
"When did Edward arrive?" He asked
"Evening."
"Were you up at that time."
"I was getting ready."
"For...?"
"He told me we had to come to this place again so..."
"Okay..got that."
"But I can't understand one thing... Why would I kill him?"
"In order to save him."
What!
"Don't talk in circles."
"Who do you think can kill him if not you."
"You can."
"I don't have that power."
I don't have that power, it rang in her ears.
