In the enchanted forest, James stood in the middle of the woods waiting for David and his mother. David and Maleficent landed in front of James in their dragon forms. They morphed into their human forms. Maleficent smiled and walked over to her son. "James it's good to see you" she said hugging him.
"It's good to see you too mom" James said. David just stood there awkwardly.
Maleficent pulled back from him. "So what did you need" she asked.
"Well I really need to speak to David for a little while. I figured it wouldn't look too bad to dad if both you David left the castle together" James said. David looked at his brother shocked.
"Your father's out of the kingdom right now. He'll be back tonight for David's engagement party" she said.
She looked at David and smiled. "I'll leave you two alone" she said. She turned back into a dragon and flew away.
David and James just stared at each other for a moment. "Listen James about what happened that night…" David started to say but James shook his head.
"I'm not interested in talking about what happened" he said.
"Then what do you want from me" David asked keeping his guard up. He knew he couldn't fully trust James.
"Me and Regina need your help" James said.
David nodded his head furiously. Maybe this was good. Maybe James and Regina would actually forgive him for what happened. "Of course. Anything you need" David said.
James smiled and walked over to his brother. "Perfect" he said wrapping an arm around David's shoulders. David was confused. James had not been very receptive to the idea of forgiving him before but now he seemed all about it. James walked them further into the woods where Regina, Hansel and Gretel were waiting for him.
"Who are they" David asked James.
"Hansel, Gretel" James said pointing between the two siblings.
"They will be helping you David" James said. "This is my brother David and he will be assisting you guys" James said to the siblings.
"What's going on" David asked.
"Follow us" Regina said walking further into the forest. Regina noticed Gretel holding a compass her father gave her. "What is that" Regina asked.
"My father's compass. He gave it to me so I could find him but now it's broken" Gretel answered.
"When are you guys gonna tell us where we're going" David asked.
James and Regina stopped walking. "This is close enough" James said.
"Close enough to what" Gretel asked. James and Regina turned to David, Hansel and Gretel.
"The home of the Blind Witch" Regina answered.
"That doesn't sound good" Hansel said.
"The Blind Witch? As in the Blind Witch that dad made blind" David asked.
James nodded. "That's the one" he said.
David shook his head. "Forget it. Whatever it is you want isn't worth dealing with the Blind Witch" he said.
"She stole something from us and we need you guys to get it back" Regina said.
"What is it" Gretel asked.
James looked at his brother. "Something that can reverse the magic dad used on Regina that night" he said.
David looked at him shocked. "Wait! Are you serious" he asked. They both nodded.
"It's kept in a black leather satchel inside her house" Regina said.
"Why don't you get it yourself? How come you need us" Gretel asked.
James and Regina looked at each other. James held out his hand and a force field appeared. He pulled back his hand quickly. "Unfortunately my father banished us from this part of the land" James said.
"The house is protected by magic. I won't be able to enter" David said.
James waved his hand and a veil appeared in his hand. "You will with this" he said handing David the veil.
"What is it" David asked taking it from his brother.
"It will give you the essence of a child so you will be able to get through the defenses" Regina answered.
"As you know David the spell doesn't work on children" James said.
James looked at his brother pleadingly. "Please David. This is mine and Regina's only chance to reverse what dad did" James said.
David sighed. "Fine" he said. He opened the veil and went to drink it but Regina stopped him. "It only works for a few hours and you guys will have to wait until nightfall, and then, once the witch is asleep, you guys can sneak in" she said. "If we do this, you promise you'll find our father" Gretel asked.
"Oh, indeed we will" James said.
"You two will not have to worry about the witch. That's why David's going with you guys for the magical assist" Regina said.
"He will deal with the witch while you two get our property back" James said.
"There's one more thing. The witch's house is unique" Regina said. Hansel and Gretel looked at each other confused.
"It's made of candy. No matter what happens when we're inside, no matter how you're tempted you can't eat anything" David explained. James and Regina nodded. Regina pulled back a branch and revealed the witch's house. Hansel and Gretel looked at each other than at David.
"We'll do it" Gretel said.
James smiled at them. "Perfect. Like we said wait until nightfall" he said. Hansel and Gretel walked away.
"Thank you David. This means a lot to us" James said.
David nodded. "Of course. I'm glad I can help" he said.
