"Holy fuck.." Maxine muttered, making herself a cup of coffee. She wasn't expecting to walk past her parents room and see Moxxie laying on his side with his knees drawn up to his chest.
"Dad?" She called out softly, "Are you alright?"
He slowly opened one eye, before just muttering, "Maxie, something's really wrong with me. My stomach's never hurt this much before..." He curled up into a ball.
Maxine placed a hand on his forehead. He felt rather fevered to the touch, not to mention that he's been feeling extremely weak. "I think I heard this in an episode of M*A*S*H. You know, with Major Houlihan-"
"Oh, crumbs, the pain's getting worse-" Without warning, Moxxie began to clutch his side again, eyes closed, and screaming in pain.
"Well, is it left or right-" Maxine mumbled, checking for the pain. As soon as she pressed at McBurney's point, Moxxie let out a rather girlish shriek, and Maxine immediately knew it was somethin' serious. "Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no..." She murmured.
Moxxie suddenly stopped, opening one eye and staring at her. "What?" He asked weakly.
"I think you have appendicitis," Maxine informed him.
"Appendi-what?!" Moxxie cried out in alarm.
"Appendicitis is a disease caused by inflammation of the appendix," Maxine explained. "You know, like what Eliza had in The Wild Thornberries. If it becomes blocked, it can swell with bacteria and cause infection. In severe cases, it can rupture."
It didn't help that Millie, Loona, and Blitzo were on a six-day mission to find a target, leaving the rest of the crew behind. "Shit," she mumbled to herself, "I need to call 911." She grabbed her phone, dialed the number, and waited for someone to pick up. After several rings, a voice finally answered, "Hello, 911. What's your emergency?"
"Hi, my name is Maxine Knolastname, and my father, Moxxie, has appendicitis," Maxine said quickly. "Do you know where I can find a doctor?"
"Hold on, please," the operator said. There was a brief pause before the voice returned, "There's a hospital nearby. Can you give me your address?"
Maxine gave her father's address and hung up. "They'll be sending an ambulance soon," she told Moxxie. "Just hang in there, okay?"
Moxxie nodded weakly.
