We are getting dangerously close to the thing (TM) Place your bets now, you have until the second I finish writing the next chapter, because that's when it will be posted. No clue if it will be out slow or quickly, it could go either way with how much I've thought about it
Also, my emails seem to be down again so just in case that's a common issue again, this is my second upload since that started
Some1call4MR-E: man, the filler episodes in Super really were the best episodes. Genuinely "I forgot my tractor" is one of my favorite lines in the series, It is so funny
Qinlongfei: Many thanks they are fun to write
And it is really hard to powerscale things between GT and Super. Both are pretty inconsistent in power scaling, and Super is especially vibes based. If I were to think about giving it a set comparison, I'd probably want to place SS4 around SSG, but below Blue. But again I wouldn't necessarily say that's concrete since how strong a character is in super is essentially how strong they need to be for the plot. Z also has some issues with that, but it's far, far more noticeable in Super
Also, since this review was specifically on chapter 104, I should mention that this is the second chapter since then, just in case 105 was missed due to the aforementioned emails issues I've had
Guest: Honestly, I do not think SS3 really effects that much. Maybe it could have some detriment in Goku not being used to using that much energy at once, but Goku also adapts quickly so even then I don't see it being a huge setback
I glanced out the window as the sky faded to black suddenly, but not unfamiliar. A few minutes later, it turned back to blue.
Huh.
"Guess someone used the Dragon Balls," I thought out loud.
"You know what it is?" Seventeen asked. He did that occasionally, probing to see if I knew what was about to happen. Which has literally always been no up til now since I don't know Super's timeline.
But this time it was more of a "probably not," I said.
"Probably?" Seventeen perked up.
I shrugged. "I dunno. I know Frieza's supposed to be brought back eventually. I didn't know how though. Makes sense enough that it'd be Dragon Balls. Kinda thought that was way later though. Not that I really know the order of things anymore, just the vibes."
I thought about it more. "I'm probably wrong anyway. I'm fairly certain it's not til later." I know he was brought back to help with the tournament, which I'm pretty sure was at the end of Super. There's also the Resurrection F movie, which is most likely before that, but it's probably not that far before. So the next thing I knew would probably be the future thing.
Or I could be entirely wrong and there could be other arcs I don't know about. Or I could have messed up the order. But with the knowledge I have, that's the way that made the most sense.
Goku did just join Vegeta in training with Beerus though. Narratively the show could have used Frieza to showcase their new power. It was weird to think about the logic of a show when you're living it though.
Whatever. Whatever happens, happens. I couldn't sense Frieza right now so that makes it even more unlikely.
There was no way for me to tell where the wish was made anyway. It was probably just Pilaf or something.
…
Huh.
You know. After a few months past, I kinda forgot about the whole wish thing. Now at least six months had gone by and I only remembered because I sensed the familiar malice of a ki signature approaching the planet.
Guess I was wrong about the timeline of events after all.
Weird that I didn't sense him then though.
"Hey Seventeen, I think I was right."
"Hm? About what?"
"When I said Frieza might have been revived."
Seventeen blinked. "What? Wasn't that months ago? What took so long?"
"Yeah, no clue. Planning. Maybe even training. Guess I should probably go and help deal with it. You coming?"
Seventeen look out the window, looking somewhat conflicted. "I'd hate to leave the island unattended, especially not even knowing how long. It's just Frieza, right? It's not like that's a real threat."
"Yeah. I'm pretty sure he's supposed to get a new form. I thought it was later but I could be wrong, I don't think he'd come to challenge us without being stronger than he was before at least."
"Is it a threat?"
I leaned on my palm. "I'm pretty sure it's comparable with the form after the Super Sayain God. Blue. Dunno if that's its actual name, it's just what I call it. It'd probably be an issue for The Ultimate since I don't even know how it compares to the standard Super Sayain God form."
"I could always just not let him transform…but that might cause issues later…" I sighed, leaning back.
"How could not letting him transform cause problems?"
"Something to do with a tournament later. I don't really know. Pretty sure he was only recruited since he's so strong, but if he doesn't use that form, he won't be seen as that strong."
"Is that a bad thing? Why would you want him in some tournament?"
I sighed. "I don't really know. I don't know the details of the tournament, other than it was like, the highest stakes possible. Like, universe destroying high. So if not having Frieza in it messes with it- I dunno. We have stronger people here too."
Well, did we? Zangya was certainly up there, but other than that, I don't think anyone added really messed with the scaling much. It'd still be Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza in the top three.
"Guess I'll just let the cards fall as they want. Things will work out one way or another. You're fine either way. I doubt it'd be super necessary for you to go."
…
Frieza
Well, Frieza was positively tickled as he approached Earth.
He'd spent some good years in hell and now he finally takes his revenge. On this planet, and the monkeys that inhabit it. What's more, his scanners said that neither Goku nor Vegeta were on the planet. While a shame that he couldn't torment Vegeta some, their absence did mean he could exact revenge on the inhabitants, razing the planet before they even showed up.
That had been his plan before the purple-haired one showed up, now hadn't it? He should take extra care to find that one specifically as well. That one deserved a much more personal, and slow death.
The baby monkey was also of note. However, while his defeat at her hands was humiliating, it did come with the knowledge of the existence of true Super Sayains. For that, he will reward that one with a faster death.
Yes. After four months of training, plus a bit extra for a, personal project, he was quite certain that there was no being that existed that could stand in his way. Lord Beerus notwithstanding.
He glared back as the ship shook upon entering the planet's atmosphere. That foolish captain had best take great care in piloting this ship. Even the dullest dolt on board should know well and good just how important its cargo was.
For a fleeting moment, he wondered if he should have left it up on his main ship With Berryblue. But he dismissed it just as quickly. That would suggest he had any possibility of losing. Which of course was not only impossible, but laughable.
Even if something were to happen, he could always make another. Though he loathed the prospect. He liked this one. And he'd do better than his father. He'd get it right the first time.
But the fact was, there was nothing that could hold a candle to his current abilities, and so there was no risk at all.
The only reason the thought had even occurred to him was because Berryblue herself suggested leaving it. He could admit he allowed her more leeway than most. Had anyone else suggested it a swift execution would be all that awaited them. But he was admitted soft on her. It was only natural, she was his primary caretaker in his own infancy after all.
But no. It should be here with his greatest victory. Then he could finally get back to what was really important. Conquering the universe and building his empire.
He walked out onto the landing as they entered enough of the atmosphere that it wouldn't terribly depressurize. He raised a single index finger and erased a city from the map.
That should get the planet's little heroes' attention. And sure enough soon they came scurrying in. Headed by none other than the baby monkey and the remarkably hard to kill Namekian. The short earthling from Namek was here as well.
"My, all we would need is Vegeta and this would be quite the reunion, now wouldn't it?" He greeted. "Such a shame he doesn't appear to be here. I'm sure he'd be quite disappointed."
"Yeah probably," the baby monkey responded, "his own fault though."
And though Frieza couldn't help but agree, he did not appreciate the casual and uncaring nature she took in responding.
But he could not allow such trivial matters to disturb him. He took the moment of levity to observe the others who gathered. Most were clearly Earthlings. One with three eyes and another with long hair. Vegeta's foolish lackey, Nappa was it? He was also there. An earthling woman with blonde hair stood close to the short one.
There was a woman with orange hair and blue skin- was that a Hera? Even he was not aware there were any of those left. Frankly, they were one of the few species he would have once wished to avoid had he known. But he supposed it wasn't out of the question for one or more to have been defeated here. After all, if Goku had beaten Majin Buu and faced Lord Beerus, a measly Hera or two would certainly not be an issue.
The real mystery was how they got one to play nice with them.
No matter. If they could tame Vegeta thus far, clearly nothing was out of the question.
His interest was piqued as a primitive earth vehicle flew onto the scene. And soon after flew in- well that's mildly interesting.
A woman with blue hair tried to exit the vehicle but was immediately intercepted by her pursuer. One he had been told was dead.
"For the last time-" the long-haired Sayain cast a weary glance towards him and his ship, "we are leaving."
The woman refused. Saying she wanted to see the proceedings.
Frieza gazed unimpressed. Well, death wish or not it was beneath him to go out of his way to kill such a weak insect. She could just wait to die with the rest of the planet.
The other though…
"Is that one not supposed to be dead?" He inquired.
The long-haired monkey looked wearily towards him. "Aren't you?"
Well. That one has grown some gall in his absence. Not much, evidently as he made no move to step in front of the woman. In fact, he was slightly behind her as he was pulling her away.
"Yes. But that would imply any would care enough to resurrect you."
The monkey scowled. Good, a proper reaction. Those seemed to become rarer these days.
"Uh yeah. That's why it didn't take, what, like 15 years to bring him back." The baby monkey couldn't seem to help but butt in.
Frieza refused to acknowledge such trite statements. He was well aware it had taken his empire far too long to resurrect him. He was also aware that they have shamefully allowed themselves to fall from power in recent years. However, what was important was that he had now returned and shall rectify such failures.
"Oh also, just so you and anyone else on your ship know, the dragon balls can only bring someone back once, so that was your one second chance. Hope you didn't just waste it. You could have just gone on doing what you do and we'd have never known."
The baby monkey insisted on such a casual tone in conversation that it was irritating. He could appreciate a bit of pre-battle banter, but no due respect or fear was being shown. She truly did not seem to care.
And what an absurd precaution to give. Not only was his failure an impossibility, he had no reason to believe she would tell the truth. Why would the wishing orbs have such a ridiculous restraint?
"I think you'll find I'm using it perfectly." He turned and signaled his soldiers to attack. On his order, hundreds of armored soldiers of many species rushed forward.
He didn't actually expect them to win. Certainly not. But at the very least they should tire the fools. Perhaps even eliminate some of the weaker earthlings. They seemed to waste even more energy as most of them went out of their way to avoid killing. The only ones actively killing his soldiers were Nappa and the Hera. He was sure the long-haired Sayain also would not have cared if he wasn't too preoccupied with the woman. Acting like he was protecting her, but in all reality was likely avoiding combat.
How they could tolerate such a coward was beyond him.
The baby monkey wasted no time in sparking her hair that infuriating blonde. The Namek had equally grown to massively outgrow to efforts of his army. Truly the only ones who were even slowed by his forces were the earthlings. Even then, the woman with naturally blonde hair seemed just as effortless in her actions as any of the non-earthlings.
His attention shot up as a stray blast flew towards his ship. He flashed over and blocked it himself.
"Fools." He muttered. He tracked where the blast originated and shot that soldier down himself.
No fool without a shred of basic common sense had the right to remain in his forces.
No matter. It wasn't as though his prize wasn't on the opposite side of the ship. No stray blast could reasonably harm it. That didn't change the fact that it was unnecessary to bring damage to his ship. Even the slightest disturbance was more of a reason to lose the right to life.
A fact of which would not be forgotten by his crew now that a proper example had been made. And any who follow suit would meet the same fate.
Still, while he would normally be content to allow the fools who lose here to wait to die, his army had grown sparse in recent years. He contacted Berryblue to bring down a ship with a plethora of healing pods. He allowed his own crew to transfer to that one in order to aid in bringing in the injured.
They would receive their punishments, but he could allow some leeway until he was able to build his forces once again.
