It has been almost over a week since Poppy became a resident of Player's home. He had shown her every room in the house and everything she would need to know to comprehend or use modern-day electronics like the shower panel. Despite this, she still had some trouble getting used to these electronics as she had with the flat-screen TV.
And when Player means trouble...He means trouble.
When she was helping him whisk together ingredients to make cookie dough, one of Poppy's pigtails got caught in the electronic whisker 'cause she wanted to lick the dough. Player still had no idea how her pigtail managed to stay intact.
She tried to help him with the laundry and mistook a Pure-Pod from the Pods Dispenser as gummy candy. He stopped her before she could even pop one into her mouth.
As he was hewing through the Playtime Co. website again, Poppy went to his game room to try his VR headset. Long story short, she left a rectangular hole in the wall. The good news, Player had what he needed to repair it as good as new.
Besides electronics, he also tried to get her to sleep in her room, but time and time again, whenever it was a nightmare or loneliness, she would always come back to sleep with him. Player gave up but wasn't fazed sharing his room with Poppy, though her snuggling made it a little tough for him to sleep.
Another thing, Player always has to remind Poppy to get dressed after she finishes a shower. He understands she's been in a case for most of her life, but she needs to remember to do that and not to answer the front door, especially after what happened a couple of days ago.
When the mailman, a young lad who started this job, knocked on the door to deliver mail. Rather than Player answering the door, he was instead surprised by the sight of Poppy's naked pale body, making him faint, never seeing her face. Quickly, Player closed the door and wrapped a towel around Poppy before reminding her not to do that.
He wasn't annoyed or mad about it, she was still getting used to it. Plus on the bright side, due to the mailman fainting immediately, he woke up thinking what had occurred was all in his head.
In all honesty, the only thing that's been bugging him is the lack of information about Playtime Co. he's been trying to look for. He's one of the best hackers and practically one of the best detectives around, and he couldn't find anything else about the company. All he managed to get was some info and or picture on some of the toys, nothing else. So to avoid stressing out, he decided to take a break from it and relax. After all, he's been trying to hack it for days.
As it was the afternoon, Player was in the kitchen, cooking some burgers with a side of fries. Meanwhile Poppy was over in the living room on the couch. She was wearing a blue shirt with a short skirt, leaving her legs uncovered, and short high heels, watching a movie on the big TV that Player put on.
"Soo Poppy, do you want some fries with your burgers?" Player called over to the living room with a smile, placing the rest of the burgers onto their buns, only to receive no response. "Poppy?"
He looks over at the living room now to see her facing the TV, but she doesn't seem to be paying to the movie. Her eyes were still, following none of the movement on the screen. Worried, Player walked over to her.
"Uhh...Poppy?"
Player waved his hand in front of her face, getting no reaction from her. "Poppy!"
"Ah!" Poppy jumped, blinking several times before looking at him confusingly. "...What?"
"I was asking if you wanted fries with your burgers."
"O-Oh." Poppy looked down at her exposed lap. "Yeah...Sure."
Recognizing an all too familiar tone in her voice, Player sat down beside Poppy and looked at her with empathy. "Hey, Poppy, what's wrong?" He asked as she looked at him. "You've been acting weird lately...L-Like you've been dazing off, looking at the walls or the TVs...Is something wrong?"
Poppy looked away and soon sighed. "I...I just keep having nightmares about my friends..." She answered, looking back at him. "They're still trapped in Playtime Co. and I can't do anything about it...I'm trapped here..."
"Trapped? Poppy you're not trapped here, this is your home." Player assured, confused yet surprised she would even think that. "And your friends won't be trapped forever. We will go back to Playtime Co. to try and save them."
He's serious about helping her save the others but at the same time, he is slightly nervous about it. Huggy Wuggy stalked him around the facility, then chased him down, and tried to eat him. While that should've given him enough reason to avoid helping, recalling what Poppy said to him back in Ludwig's Office will always remind him that what Huggy did was not of his control.
"If I'm not trapped, then why do you keep bringing me back in whenever I want to go outside?" Poppy asked as she leaned toward him with a slightly stern gaze. "You even take me back inside when I'm only in the backyard."
Beads of sweat slid down the side of Player's head. Whenever Poppy was mad or glaring at him, it made him nervous, he's not sure why, it just made her look cute.
"I-I don't want you to get lost out there or be spotted by anyone that's walking by. You don't know what it's like out there, and someone might recognize you as your toy counterparts and have you taken away. We can't let that happen, plus we don't have anything to disguise you with yet."
"Then let's go back to Playtime Co. at least there's nobody around there to see me." Demanded Poppy, presumably pointing in the direction of the establishment. "And we have to go and save my friends...I want to save them!"
"I know! ...I know, Poppy. I want to go back too, but we-" Player sighed. "We can't go back...Not right now. I still need to look through their website for any more information or anything that could benefit us when we go like the layout of the building. Whatever was watching us leave could still be there, waiting for our return. We need to find another way in and we need to prepare, otherwise, going back will be suicide for us."
Poppy's expression softened as she discreetly looked at his mentality, seeing he was frank with her. He really wanted to go back to Playtime Co. with her but felt it wasn't time yet, he...He was scared, yet, he wanted to do this, he wanted to help, regardless of what he feared.
"Please, Poppy, I promise we'll go back there. She focused back on Player. "We just need a little more time, okay?"
"..." Poppy looked at the floor and stood up. "...O-Okay..."
"Poppy..." Suddenly she stepped away and ran to her room with her hair shielding her eyes. "Poppy, wait! What about your-" He flinched when she almost slammed her door shut. "Lunch..."
After hearing the door lock from the inside Player groaned out of guilt. He only wanted to keep her safe, not to get hurt, taken away, locked up, and tested on, and he didn't want her to feel trapped in the house.
She's not a plaything or some relic that needs to be preserved, she's a living being who needs a broad horizon. A chance to enjoy things she never got to experience. A chance to be human, despite abnormality and immortality.
He needed to make it up to her...But how?
With a sigh, Player pinched the bridge between his eyes, thinking of what to do. Letting go, he looked over by the door of Poppy's room at a folded-up delivery box that was left beside it. It came in yesterday, containing some clothes she had picked out for herself before she emptied it and set it out of her room this morning for him to recycle.
An idea came to mind and made Player smile a little. "She has been getting her things online...Maybe it's time to change that." Getting up from the couch, he walked over to his office and opened his laptop, turning it on to a delivery sight as he purchased a few items. "When this arrives, we'll be shopping tomorrow in no time."
Slowly, his smile faded as he sighed, hoping greatly that this'll help Poppy feel better.
Later at Night
At the edge of his bed with a remote in hand, Player watched the weather channel as the weatherman announced it would be cloudy with a chance of rain and thunder. He didn't want to watch anything else at the moment, not feeling interested in watching entertainment at the moment, due to being worried about his friend.
Poppy was still in her bedroom, which was still locked. She didn't want to come out of her room, even when he told her that her food would be in the fridge in case she wanted to heat it and eat it later. And when he tried to convince her to come out, she would always respond with the word, "No." until he stopped trying.
So right now, he was making sure everything would turn out great tomorrow.
Finishing up checking the weather, Player sighed and began to surf the channels available, until he felt a vibration and heard a beep from his phone.
"Huh?"
Pulling it out of his pocket, he saw the notification coming from his security camera app. Something was detected in the back of his house. Quickly, he tapped into the app and selected the camera for the backyard. In seconds, the screen flashed to reveal Poppy, sneaking her way outside from the covered patio, looking around as she slowly shut the door.
Player gasped. "Poppy!?" He immediately covered his mouth.
Because he left the camera's mic unmuted, Poppy heard Player's shout, making her jump and yelp. Looking up at the camera, she froze in shock and ran out of view a second later. Without pause, Player shot up from his bed, bolted out of the room, and down the stairs, grabbing his shoes and putting them on in the process.
Hoping on one foot to put his other shoe on, Player made it to the covered patio and got it on before barging out the door to the backyard. "Poppy? Poppy?!" He looked around until he noticed a couple of handprints at the top of the bricked fence in the back. "Oh no..." Running over to the fence, he pulled himself up to look over it, only to catch glimpses of nothing but grass and the woodland through the dark.
Poppy's nowhere to be seen.
'How could she be gone so fast?' Player quickly wondered what to do to find her. The weather is supposed to get bad tonight. If he doesn't locate her before it rains, the lightning will. 'Think, think...That's it!'
Dropping down from the fence, Player bolted back into his home to grab the souvenir he..."Received" from the company.
Meanwhile
Running past trees as fast as her legs could take her with only the clothes on her back, Poppy looked around before stopping behind a tree. She was out of breath, huffing like she had finished a 6-lap marathon. Leaning with her hand against the tree and the other on her thigh, Poppy breathed in and out, decreasing her heavy breathing.
"I...I have to...Get back..."
Poppy inhaled deeply and sighed, relieved from the slight burning in her lungs. She felt it was a miracle she gained the height Player was at, otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to run as fast as she did. If she was still stuck at the size of her toy counterparts, she would've been out of breath in seconds.
Standing up straight, she raised her head and combed her surroundings with her eyesight. "This way." Looking in the direction of Playtime Co. Poppy ran to it.
"Poppy! Wait!" She turned to see Player coming down from the trees, sporting the GrabPack on his back with a clip-on flashlight attached to one of the straps. The moment he landed, the red hand retracted back into the wrist of the device he was using.
"No, leave me alone!" Poppy bolted, forcing Player to chase after her. "I don't care how long it'll take to run there, they need me!"
She tried running faster, but that wasn't enough as Player used the GrabPack to swing from the trees above to launch himself forward and catch up to Poppy. Before she can make a quick turn to try and lose him, he drops down from above and catches her with a bear hug. Poppy could only gasp as both she and Player tumbled to the ground until he pinned her to the floor, staying right on top of her as she tried to squirm out of his grasp.
"Please, enough Poppy! Listen-" Poppy shot her knee up, hitting him in the crotch. "Oow!"
While Player rolled to his side, clutching his lower region, Poppy got back up and looked down at him. "I, am, going, back. Whether you want to help or not!" She turned back in the direction she was going and ran.
"N-No, wait!" Player got up as fast as he could and hurried after Poppy. "Don't go that way!"
Poppy ignored his pleas and kept sprinting until she tripped over something hard and flew forward before falling on the now solid black ground. Panting, she pushed herself up with her hands and knees to get back up before noticing a familiar light, making her angry.
"LEAVE ME-"
She let out a gasp when she turned to the source. Her eyes widened, realizing it was a large semi-truck, driving straight toward her with little to no signs of slowing down. Like a Deer, Poppy froze in place, looking on in fear as the vehicle grew larger and the lights grew brighter.
In that moment her life flashed before her eyes as visions of her past flew through her mind, starting from her living with Player to her time in that case at Playtime Co. This kept going up until it reached the 1st of her memories, where she woke up and was hugged.
Suddenly, another memory flashed in her sight, but...This wasn't a memory she ever recalled going through. It was of her, lying in a hospital bed, attached to some device that was beeping, resembling an old TV, and a pouch full of clear fluid with her body covered by a blanket. Outside the rails of the bed were adults wearing blue masks.
However, one adult stood out from them.
It was the figure...The figure shrouded in darkness, but, she can tell now from the figure's form that it was a male. His eyes were now visible, white like a pair of lightbulbs, and he was...Crying. His hand was wrapped around hers, seemingly consoling her as her vision faded, the beeps from the device became rapid, and then came a long ring.
Suddenly Poppy found herself staring back at the truck that blared its horn. Before the vehicle could reach her, Player landed beside her and scooped her up. Using the blue hand of the GrabPack he launched it and had it pull them off the road in time, the truck missing them by a couple of feet.
The branch Player grappled the blue hand to snap, as they fell, he balled himself around Poppy, cushioning her fall when they hit the ground. They had reached a full stop after a roll, reaching a flat surface as Player let go of Poppy with his arms flopping to the sides. They were on their backs, breathing heavily, having had the wind knocked out of them.
After regaining oxygen back in her lungs, Poppy pushed herself up slightly to look at Player, her hands on his shoulders. "You...You saved me? ...After I tried to run away, yelled at you, hit you, you saved me?"
"Yes..." Player asked, his body still sprawled out, still catching his breath.
"W-Why...?" Tears ran down Poppy's face. "After all I did, why!? Why save me?!"
"Because...Because I care for you..." He inhaled. "You may be stubborn and a little inane, but you're still my friend...And friends don't leave friends to die."
When he placed his hand on Poppy's shoulder she blushed, both from that and his answer. Seeing he was still gasping for some air, she rolled off of him until she was beside him, sitting down with her knees over her chest, hugging them.
"I...I'm sorry, for all of this...I just wanted to go and save my friends. Huggy...Kissy...Mommy...The others. T-They're scared, hungry, a-and alone...They want it all to end."
Player looked worried, but immediately sat up when he caught a glimpse of Poppy's undergarments. Of all the things to wear, why did she select a skirt that hardly hides the thighs?
Taking a deep breath, Player spoke. "Poppy...I know you want to save them, but you need to listen to me. You can't go back there alone. Other than being far away, after what I've witnessed and experienced for what felt like minutes of dread, you'll only be heading straight into danger. Even if you had the right equipment and supplies, it'd still be a death wish to try and do this solo."
"Then why not come with me? You have the GrabPack we can go right-"
Player raised his index in front of Poppy's lips, avoiding contact due to touching the ground.
"I want to, but we can't go back yet, remember? We need to prepare for it first. I need to try and get info to see if there's another way for us to get in without using the front entrance where that..."
In Player's memory of when he and Poppy drove away, he can recall looking into his rearview mirror to see the large but shadowed figure watching them drive away.
"Thing could be. We're going to also need my equipment for this, along with snacks that can last us long enough to explore further into the facility." He then adds. "And besides the road over there, there aren't enough places for you to sneak by the public and get there. You're a living doll that looks like several others by face, you need a mask to keep your identity a secret."
Poppy touched her face and sighed. Regardless of the changes she's been through, she's still a Poppy Playtime doll. Her makeup is permanent, she still smells like a Poppy Flower, and she can't even straighten her red hair...And no, she's not going to cut or dye her hair, she likes to keep it the length and color it is.
"Ok, you're right. But...Why do all this for me? Keeping me safe, letting me live with you, helping me save my friends...I-I'm just a toy..." She looked down as tears threatened to pour from her eyes again.
"No, you're not."
Poppy blinked a few times before looking at Player.
"Poppy..." Player paused, hesitating to answer her question before letting out a sigh. "I did all that for you because you're the only friend I've ever made in my life-"
"Only?" Asked Poppy, earning a nod.
"I've lived the beginning of my teenage years alone without friends or family around. Surviving on only my intelligence alone while suppressing my anxiety to endure the hardship I put myself through, just to live the closest thing I have to a decent life." He placed his hand over Poppy's. "Which is why as your friend, I want to help you live a decent life too. The life that you never got."
Poppy could only stare at him surprised.
"You lived your whole life trapped in that factory inside a case, treated like an antique all because you were a living toy when you are more than that."
"W-What?"
Player looked Poppy in the eyes. "You're not just a toy. Heck, you're not even like the other Poppy Playtimes! You don't sit around idly on a chair or talk when someone tugs the string that's in your back. You can move on your own, talk whenever you want, and even show care for others such as your friends."
Player reaches for Poppy's other hand, grasping both as she does the same with his. "You are unique, Poppy...You, are you. Don't ever think otherwise."
Poppy was stunned by Player's words, her eyes never wavering from his. "I am...M-Myself?"
He nodded to reassure Poppy as tears began to pour from her eyes. Suddenly she threw herself toward Player into a hug as she soaked in his words. She isn't a reflection of the other Poppys that Playtime Co. manufactured. She was her own person.
She is...Herself.
"T-Thank you, Player."
He looked at Poppy and gently wrapped his arms around her, patting her back as he did so to alleviate her. "Welcome, Poppy."
The duo stayed in that hug for a good 10 minutes with only the sound of crickets chirping in the distance and the forest leaves blown by the calm winds. When they began to pull away from their hug, Player was about to ask a query before seeing a scratch on Poppy's left leg below the knee near the calf.
"You're hurt."
Poppy was confused before she looked at her leg to see the cut, which bled a little. Player held her leg, examining it, making her blush slightly.
"Did it happen when we fell?" He asked Poppy, worried he might've caused the injury.
She shrugged. "I don't know. But I'm okay, I can barely feel it."
Player sighed in relief as he finished analyzing her scratch. "That's good. The cut isn't deep and it's sterile, still, it needs to be wrapped."
Grabbing his shirt sleeve, Player tears it off and wraps it around Poppy's leg, covering the cut. Poppy watched as she noticed Player had received a couple of scrapes and bruises of his own from cushioning her fall, making her frown a little.
"I'm sorry for running away...And kicking you."
"Hey it's okay, you don't have to apologize. Besides, I shouldn't have pinned you down like that." Player assured as he tied the fabric tightly. "There...That should hold. I'll bandage it up when we get back home."
Player let go of Poppy's leg with a smile, only for it to waver when he saw that her legs were spread apart. To show some decency he looked away, clearing his throat. "W-We should go now."
This didn't go unnoticed by Poppy. "You know, if you're still curious you just have to ask." She grabbed the front hem of her skirt and raised it. "You don't always have to-."
"Nonononono no need for that!" Poppy let go of her skirt as Player sighed. "You need to learn not to do that."
"Why? I'm wearing underwear."
Player looked at her in disbelief. 'I gotta teach her not to do that...Including a few other things.' He got up, offering a hand to Poppy. "I'll explain later when we're back. It's almost 11 PM."
Looking at his hand, Poppy nods and grabs hold of it before being helped up. Instead of letting go, the two kept hold of each other's hand, much to Poppy's delight, which soon turned to curiousness. "So...Any reason you kept the GrabPack?"
"It's proven to be useful and for old tech, it's intriguing. Plus I can use it again once we go back to Playtime Co. soon."
Poppy nodded, understanding as she and Player walked back home, hand-to-hand. Shortly, a flash of lightning illuminated the sky with a roar of thunder soon after as drops of rain started to come down.
The two looked up at the rain and then back at one another.
Later
"Hahaha!"
Running out of the forest they ran through giggling, Poppy looked back to see Player running out soon after, almost out of breath again.
"Why'd I give her a headstart..." Player muttered with a chuckle before hollering. "Poppy wait up!"
Despite the heavy rain pelting them from above, Poppy managed to grab the top of the bricked fence and pull herself up. Before she could get over, Player launched both hands of the GrabPack to pull himself forward and leap over the wall.
"Hey!"
Poppy rolled over the stone and on her feet before sprinting towards the patio door with Player feet in front of her. As he grabs the door handle and pushes it down, Poppy tackles him, sending them both inside the covered patio and onto the floor out of the rain, laughing.
Their laughter soon came to an end when they realized the position and condition they were in right now.
Poppy was on top of Player since she tackled him with her hands on his arms and her knees on each side of his hips. Due to this, her pelvis was pressing against his, and it didn't help that the slightest movement they made caused a little friction.
Thanks to the heavy rain pouring down on them on their way home, their clothes were drenched in water and sticking to their body. Despite having an average build, a slight outline of muscles can be seen through Player's black shirt. As for Poppy, her slim figure can be seen through her blue shirt, not only that, but she wasn't wearing a bra.
Left astonished and speechless from this predicament, Poppy and Player stared at each other. They were hoping that one or the other would do something to get them out of this bind, yet they were unsure of what to do. But the longer they stayed like this, the less awkward it was to them, and the more...Right, it felt.
As it did, their demeanor changed as they began smiling warmly.
With a giggle, Poppy lowered herself forward and pressed her lips against Player's. The moment they made contact, the duo closed their eyes and started kissing. Player wrapped his arms around Poppy, pulling her close as one of her legs curved, pointing directly into the air, both satisfied by the outcome.
After 6 minutes they pulled away, looking at each other lovingly.
"...That was amazing." Said Player as Poppy looked away.
"It felt amazing too."
She carefully got up, holding Player's hands as she helped him back on his feet. Closing the patio's door behind them, they headed inside their mansion-like house.
"We should go to our rooms and change out of these clothes and into new ones. After a shower of course."
"Mm-hm." Poppy nodded to Player as before they separated to do so, she looked at him. "Player...I meant to kiss you earlier."
"Earlier? As in this morning or...?"
"Weeks ago, when you told me you'd let me stay here."
"Oh."
"I didn't know what it was I wanted to do at the time until we saw that show a few days ago...Aetherhawks? The episode where the protagonist and partner were on the Zeppelin to watch this celebration, helped me understand what it was. I would've asked, but...You would've known."
Player nods and assures. "If I did then, our outcome would've been the same, and that's okay."
Poppy smiled and kissed Player on the cheek before heading to their bedrooms.
Minutes Later
After a good shower, washing away whatever mud or grime they had on them, the duo dried up, got dressed, and returned to the living room. Player wore a forest green shirt with matching sweatpants and Poppy wore a blue long-sleeved shirt with a new short skirt and white leggings for warmth.
They were on the couch, watching a romantic movie via DVD since the storm would last all night and likely interfere with the Wi-Fi. Poppy was resting her leg on Player's lap with her left legging rolled up as he bandaged her cut after removing the cloth and disinfecting the wound.
"Poppy? Player rips the applied elastic bandage off its roll. "Can I ask you something?"
"What is it?" Shifting, Poppy snuggled into his arm, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Why the short skirts? It's doesn't do much to cover..." Player's cheeks reddened a little.
Even though Poppy's wearing leggings, they didn't help to hide the lower half of her figure, not even the outline of her undies.
Looking down at her skirt, Poppy shrugged. "I just love wearing them, I guess."
"A-And not wearing your bras?"
"...They tickled whenever I move." Poppy blushed. "I'm comfortable in my clothes without them...But sometimes I miss my old dress. I know it doesn't fit me anymore, but...It feels special to me." She looked down in sadness.
"Hey, don't look down." Player pats her head gently. "When we go shopping tomorrow to get more clothes for you, I'll get a sewing kit to try and adjust your dress. You'll even get to pick out anything you want...Just, no more short skirts."
"Shopping?"
"I'll explain later." Player said as he rubbed Poppy's red hair, earning a giggle.
He just can't help but find it cute whenever she laughs like that, it's just too adorable to resist.
"Player?"
"Yeah-huh?"
Cupping Player's cheeks, Poppy leaned in and kissed him, to which he did the same, holding her close. Now that they were back home and dry, Player started to notice that Poppy's lips were warm against his, even softer as well. In turn, Poppy hummed in Player's grasp, realizing how much comfort and joy it brought whenever she was in his arms, and the kiss was the icing on the cake.
Pulling away, they gazed at each other with half-lidded eyes, their blush still apparent.
With a smile, Player cupped Poppy's cheek with his hand and caressed it. His thumb grazed her blemish as she leaned her head into his hand, smiling adorably as she held his arm with one hand. Glancing over behind him at the wall, she saw the time on the round digital clock was now 12:01 AM, it was now midnight.
"It's midnight."
Player looked at the clock to see it was indeed midnight.
"Can we continue this in bed?" Poppy asked shyly.
Though surprised, Player nodded before turning the TV off. "Sure. I...I'd like that." Poppy was about to get up, only for Player to get up, holding her with his arms under her back and legs, bridal style. "Since you're injured, I'll carry you."
With a simper, Poppy held onto him. "It's only a small scratch." She rested her head on him again, feeling as if they were the pair from Aetherhawks.
"I know, but admit it...You're enjoying this."
This earned Player a laugh from Poppy as she nodded and snuggled against him. He headed over to the stairs and up to the second floor. Reaching his bedroom, he pushed the door open with his foot and entered.
When they were at the foot of the bed, Poppy slipped out of Player's hands, leaving him slightly confused. That was when she pushed him onto his bed, catching him off guard. Looking down, Player watched as Poppy crawled onto the bed till she was facing him from above. In a blink, she had locked him into another kiss, and he returned.
It was normal at first, but in seconds their romance started to ascend.
While kissing, Poppy straddled herself on Player's pelvis, pressing against it slowly and repeatedly like a spring, and infatuatedly feeling the muscles through his shirt. At the same time, Player trailed his hand from Poppy's side up to her upper body and made contact with her right breast through the fabric of her shirt, fondling it.
Muffled moans filled the room at this point as the romance between the two started to become heated. Enticed Player slid his other hand underneath the back of Poppy's shirt. His palm and fingers grazed the smoothness of her back until he felt her pull-string, particularly the ring it was attached to.
Curious and in the moment, Player put his finger through the ring and tugged at it.
"OOOHHHHH!"
Rather than her voice box activating, Poppy had thrown her head up to let out a moan, separating from their kiss as her body stiffened. Shocked and worried he may have done something wrong, Player let go of the pull-string, letting it retract into place. Once it did, Poppy began to relax.
"Are you okay?"
"Y-yes..." Poppy confirmed, panting as she slowly and shakily laid on top of Player, still shivering. "M-My pull-string's very sensitive."
Player only nods, still a bit baffled by the pull-string and what it results after being pulled. Before he could think any more of it, Poppy snuggled her head against his chest, getting his attention.
"But..." She blushed. "I-I wouldn't mind if you did it again, n-next time."
Poppy smiled, but that soon faded as something important came to her mind. It was noticeable as Player raised a brow, concerned again.
"Is something wrong?"
"My friends. I haven't been away from them for this long..."
Poppy looked down, deep in thought about them, wondering how things were back at the Playtime Co. She'd been gone for a week and had little to no clue if they were fine or not.
Then an idea came to her.
"Player." She looked up at him. "What's the flying toy you have, the big one with six wings?"
"...My Delivery Drone?"
"Yes. Can you do this for me, please?"
Poppy pulled herself up a little and whispered into Player's ear, asking him what she wanted him to do as he nodded, looking determined to her request.
Hours Later
Now morning with the clouds parting away, revealing the rising sun in the sky as its glow shined off Playtime Co. thanks to the rain. Minutes after the rain had stopped, a Delivery Drone the size of a small car flew into view, carrying a large wooden crate painted in forest camouflage.
Quiet as a mouse, the Delivery Drone made it toward the facility with the crate. It flew above Playtime Co. and stopped over a shattered skylight. Lowering slightly the Drone slowly lowered the crate with its four cords, careful to avoid dropping the load. Once the crate made it to the bottom, the cords detached and retracted back into the Drone.
After it had flown away, leaving the crate in the building, surrounded in sunlight, a big pink hand with a blue ring around the wrist stretched out from the darkness. Grabbing it, the hand slowly dragged the crate into the darkness, far from the sunlight, to the silhouette of a giant toy, to which the hand belonged to. Just by the shape alone from the figure and funny-looking ponytail, the toy was female.
Before the giant toy could open the crate, her hand paused in front of a folded paper attached to the container with a Poppy Flower drawn on it.
"Oh my, what do we have here?"
The toy grabbed the paper and unfolded it, revealing a message. The giant toy held the small paper in her fingers as she read it from top to bottom.
"Food to share...I recognize this handwriting."
Dropping the note, the giant toy grabbed the crate's lid, tore it off with ease, and gasped. The crate contained all sorts of snacks and drinks from a wide variety. Though it seems they would only last for a week or so, it would suffice.
As hungry as the giant toy was, she couldn't leave others to starve, she had to do what was right. Wrapping her one stretchy arm around the crate, she picked it up and carried it away, crawling away to offer whatever she could to those wanting to survive.
