Your Mama and I were going into a Separatist fort on Ord Mantell called Mannett Point. Viidu didn't want to let me go along at first; I guess he was afraid I was gonna go rogue and blow the mission or something, but even then, I knew my first job was to protect your Mama from any separatists or anyone else that might wanna do her some harm.
We had to sneak into the fort by first swimming over the lake for the SECOND time and breaking into this little house near the shore. Inside, there was a secret tunnel that someone had dug to have better access to the fort to get things in and out unnoticed. We were able to bypass the walls and most of the security and come out right inside a cleaning closet inside the old city building, which is where those rotten Seps had chosen to make their headquarters.
They'd completely trashed the place. I was pretty jumpy, ready to gut anyone that bothered us. We carried a bunch of supplies in our hands as a disguise, and the Captain walked past a couple Separatists, bold as brass, but nobody said a word to us. We got all the way to the final area, no trouble, but then ran into our first problem. The door was locked. Well, your Mama's not a great slicer, but she's pretty mechanically minded. I kept watch while she pried the door panel open and hotwired it. It took a couple tries, but she got it eventually. It was completely fried, though, so we knew it was only a matter of time until somebody walked past, tried to use it, and noticed what we'd done.
So we go in there, and we meet our first enemies. The Seps inside the control room knew that the door was supposed to be locked, and they knew who was allowed to be in there and who wasn't, so your Mama and I were forced to fight our way past a guard and two technicians to get to the computer. One of the techs activated a few war droids before he died, so we had to scrap them too. I was still recovering from getting stabbed in the side by Skavak...
THAT NO GOOD SON OF A HUTT!
...so your Mama had to help me move the bodies and the wreckage into a nearby supply closet and into cabinets. I wasn't doing so great; it was hard to breathe, because the injury had been glued shut but wasn't completely healed yet. I didn't say anything, but the Captain took one look at me and ordered me off to sit on the only chair in the room, which was off in the corner. She went to the console in the middle of the room and plugged in the device that Viidu gave us, which was gonna clone the computer and get a readout of everything the Seps had in their systems.
She was standing right there, completely in the open, when the door opposite the room opened and this kid walks in. He's talking to this droid, trying to get it to say Separatist battle cries, and when he sees your Mama, he doesn't realize that we broke in. He's very polite. "Hey there," he says to her. "We had some trouble with the power relays. You mind if I take a look at the core?"
But then, disaster struck! The droid flashes his sensors, drawing his gun, and he announces that he has scanned the room and detected several dead humans in the closet. Well, I'm about to blast them both, when your Mama takes one big step towards them to hide the holodrive she's spliced into the computer, and in the most dramatic voice I've ever heard her use in our entire lives, she goes, "By The STARS! Republic Troops have invaded our base!"
Well, that kid totally falls for it. He activates combat protocols in his droid and says that we have to go warn the others and find those filthy republic invaders. But the droid says he doesn't scan any hostiles in the area, and the kid's confused.
He doesn't know it's you!
No he doesn't, Goltie. Your Mama's cool as a corellian ale though. She laughs a little and says, "Phew! When was the last time you calibrated that droid's sensors? It's probably just malfunctioning." The kid says he doesn't want to take any chances though, so he promises to go find some help and be right back. He scampers off. I hoof it over to your Mama, and she unhooks the drive from the computer and we make a beeline for the tunnel and get outta there right quick before someone else notices us.
We made it back to Viidu, and he was able to use that information to pinpoint where the Skylark was. The end.
Thanks Dad.
Love you kiddos. Goodnight.
