Erin's POV
"Mom said this Ishizu might be able to help you," Zane said as we entered the Domino Museum. "It's cool you might have had a past life in Ancient Egypt"
He then frowned as we made our way towards the Egyptian exhibit.
"What's wrong?"
"That spirit you spoke about"
He was referring to the spirit I encountered a few days ago. The one who had evil in his heart.
"He didn't want to harm me" I informed my older sibling. "But he did have an evil aura"
A woman in her early twenties was waiting for us and she was beautiful. She was definitely from Egypt due to her skin tone. Her attire was also Egyptian-designed. Zane's eyes widened and a blush came to his face.
"You must be Zane and Erin, Naomi's children" the woman greeted us as we came to a stop.
"Your Ishizu Ishtar?"
The woman nodded and Zane was still speechless. I elbowed him in the ribs and Ishizu chuckled before having us follow her.
"It's an honor to be in the presence of two Nine-Tailed Foxes" Ishizu continued.
"Wait you know what we are?" Zane asked.
It was then I saw a golden necklace around Ishizu's neck. So it was also a Millennium Item like the one I saw with the evil spirit.
"I promise I can explain in a few minutes" Ishizu promised us and she brought us into a room that several housed Egyptian artifacts that weren't meant for the public. She then stopped and turned to us. "To answer your first question I know when forces unknown to humans are present"
She then looked at me.
"What can I help you with young fox?"
"A few days ago I ran into a spirit that is currently residing in one of my classmates, if I recall correctly it was the Millennium Ring I saw, the spirit said I was the reincarnation of a fox and human hybrid named Mareena"
"Have caution with that spirit he is dangerous" Ishizu warned. "He is a thief and he desires the other Millennium Items, what did he tell you?"
"Damn it I should have been there to protect you" Zane growled.
I glared at Zane before looking at Ishizu again.
"He said that I was the love of his life and I died in his arms"
"That son of a"
I punched Zane in the side to shut him up.
"The spirit of the Millennium Ring is correct, you are indeed Mareena's reincarnation, come I have something to show you"
Zane was still growling from where I punched him and the two of us followed Ishizu to a stone tablet behind protective glass. I got a closer look and saw a woman engraved on the stone. She appeared to be dressed in royal attire and while one hand wielded a sword, the other was holding a ball of flame. Embracing her from behind was a man also dressed in royal clothing. Nine flowing tails were also behind the woman. And above her and the man were two familiar dragons.
"Wait a minute one of those dragons is Moonstone Dragon" Zane stated.
"Yes Moonstone Dragon was one of the monsters that Mareena wielded, the other is the Blue Eyes White Dragon"
But why would a Blue Eyes White Dragon be with Moonstone Dragon?
"Who's the man embracing Mareena?"
It was Zane's turn to smirk.
"Its Kaiba"
My eyes went wide and I mentally slapped myself for not figuring it out. Seto Kaiba's trump card was Blue Eyes White Dragon.
"Kaiba's past self was a priest in the Pharaoh's court, that Pharaoh is Yami"
"Holy shit" was all I could say. Ishizu then glanced at the tablet.
"Mareena had been brought to the palace as a potential bride for the Pharaoh or another member of his court due to her beauty and being a nine-tailed fox, as you can see it was the priest who found himself in love with Mareena"
"Get that grin off of your face Zane"
"My sister's always had a crush on Kaiba"
Smack!
"Will you quit blurting out that?!" I reprimanded my brother feeling my face turn red. I had hit him on the head.
Ishizu chuckled.
"Older siblings are supposed to do that"
"Look I'll lay off the teasing just quit smacking me" Zane mumbled rubbing his head.
"Deal big brother"
Our attention went back to the tablet and Ishizu.
"What else can you tell us about Mareena?"
"I'm afraid that's all I know the tablet doesn't say anything else, but be careful Erin with the spirit of the Millennium Ring"
Ishizu then looked to Zane.
"And keep an eye on your sister"
"That I can do thanks for meeting with us"
Ishizu smiled and Zane blushed again before we thanked Ishizu for her time and left.
"Is she your mate?" I inquired at Zane when we got outside.
"Possibly but then again she's a beautiful woman"
"She is" I agreed.
Zane and I still had three locator cards each and I wondered what opponents today would offer. As we walked around the streets of Battle City no duelist stuck out.
"Dang it no one looks good to duel" Zane complained.
I was about to say something when two shady-looking guys in purple cloaks were staring at us. Zane followed my gaze and saw the two men. Immediately he grabbed my hand and hurried us away. We didn't stop walking until Zane pulled us into an alley.
"Those guys were bad news," Zane said while looking around to see if we were in the clear. Suddenly I felt someone wrap their arms around me from behind and immediately my fangs elongated and I sank them hard into the bastard who had a hold of me.
"Nice comeback sis" Zane praised me as I rushed to his side.
"Our master has been looking for you two foxes" one of the cloaked men notified us. So they indeed followed us.
"Well screw your master buddy nine-tailed foxes don't have a master"
"What is it you want?" I demanded at the two men. "And let us see your faces instead of hiding"
"Feisty thing aren't you?"
Both of the cloaked goons took their hoods off.
"We're Rare Hunters and your Balerion the Black Dread and Moonstone Dragon will be a good addition to our collection"
"You're not touching Moonstone" Zane hissed.
"And news flash the Valyrian deck only answers to me, it looks like you two want to duel us"
By the way they grinned that was indeed why they were here.
"Sis, shall we dance with these two idiots?"
"Hey!" one of the Rare Hunters barked. I shot them the bird before giving Zane a smirk.
Side by side we activated our Duel Disks as did our opponents. To be on the safe side we wagered one locator card each.
"Ladies first" the Rare Hunter who protested smirked.
I made the first draw before summoning Ghost the White Direwolf to the field. His attack points were 1700 and he was a good card to start things off with. I placed a card face down. The shorter Rare Hunter played a monster in defense mode which was smart. Zane brought out Blade Knight in attack mode and had it destroy the monster in defense mode. Zane ended his turn with two cards face down.
The taller Rare Hunter placed a monster in defense and laid a card face down.
My gut told me that face-down was a trap. So I revealed my face down as Remove Trap.
"Oh crap!" the Rare Hunter protested as Mirror Force was sent to the graveyard.
I lay a new monster onto my duel disk and the sound of something shrieking came from behind me as a cloud of smoke appeared. Then a red dragon emerged from the smoke and at seeing the Rare Hunters he roared at them. Our opponents jumped and I smirked while I placed a hand on my dragon's shoulder.
"Say hello to Caraxes the Blood Wyrm gentlemen"
Caraxes had 2000 attack points and he wasn't a dragon to mess around with. I commanded Ghost to attack the monster in defense and the white Direwolf obeyed.
"Go Caraxes! Dracarys!"
Caraxes shrieked before unleashing his fury upon the tall Rare Hunter. The idiot lost half of his life points.
"Got any better ideas?" the shorter Rare Hunter sneered at his partner.
"Not really" his companion admitted before as the shorter Rare Hunter put another monster in defense.
"Sorry gentlemen but I'm afraid this duel is about to end"
Zane then revealed one of his face downs and I smirked seeing it was Ancient Rules. A moment later Moonstone Dragon roared out as it was summoned. Caraxes joined in before Zane commanded Blade Knight to attack the defense monster. Then using its Mirror Flare, Zane's dragon attacked the shorter Rare Hunter.
"You'll pay for doing that" the tall Rare Hunter growled before suddenly playing Change of Heart. "I choose to target your Caraxes!
Caraxes suddenly shrieked in fury and the Rare Hunter paled when he realized his magic card didn't work.
"Zaldrizes Bharati iksos daor" I hissed. "As I stated before the Valyrian deck only obeys me"
I was mad now and as I drew another card I smirked as I saw what I now wielded.
"Oh shit, is that what I think it is?" Zane asked seeing my grin.
"Indeed it is, now watch you idiots first I sacrifice Ghost"
Ghost howled before he glowed and disappeared.
"Next I sacrifice Caraxes"
Caraxes roared at the Rare Hunters and they jumped again before the red dragon disappeared. A pillar of fire and black light appeared behind me and a mighty roar filled the air making the wind blow. When the pillar of light and fire disappeared Balerion the Black Dread glared back at our opponents.
"Balerion attack the tall one! Dracarys now!"
Balerion roared before unleashing his fury at the Rare Hunter. The tall Rare Hunter lost all of his life points and he was done.
"Wait a minute he should have only lost 3,000!" the short Rare Hunter protested.
"News flash jackass Balerion has a special ability, if he wishes he can destroy another's life points in one move and your friend pissed him off"
Balerion roared in agreement.
"Well say goodbye to your precious dragon girl!"
He revealed Raigeki and this made Zane and I swear. All of our monsters were destroyed and we were now vulnerable. He then summoned a monster and had it attack me directly. However, Balerion's roar filled the air and the mighty dragon reappeared behind me.
"But how?!" the Rare Hunter protested.
"His second special ability if sent to the graveyard he can return to the field to protect his master if she is threatened" I answered. "Thus he can attack"
Balerion hissed before attacking the Rare Hunter and his life points went to zero.
"Remind me not to get cross with Balerion," Zane said as Balerion disappeared. My older sibling then went to the knocked-out Rare Hunters and took their locator cards. He threw mine to me and I caught it with ease.
"Looks like you're going to get your duel with Kaiba"
But before I could reply to his teasing a horrible pain I never felt before surged through me. My head hurt like hell and the next thing I knew I was being pinned to the wall by the Rare Hunter who Balerion defeated. Zane was dealing with the other Rare Hunter in a match of fists.
"It seems I cannot access your mind fox"
Another voice spoke through the Rare Hunter.
"Who are you?" I demanded while holding back a scream. Whoever was controlling the Rare Hunter was trying to control me. That explained why my head was hurting like a bitch.
"My name isn't relevant my dear, I thought a Nine-Tailed Fox's power was too good to pass up"
The pain in my head intensified and I screamed since it hurt so bad. However, the pain was suddenly cut away when I felt the Rare Hunter being pushed. My eyes widened when I saw Kaiba. He was furious and he got in front of me.
"Touch her again and you'll pay the consequences" the President of Kaiba Corp hissed. Zane managed to send the other Rare Hunter flying and the moron landed hard on the concrete. The Rare Hunter who had me trapped swore before he called to his companion and they ran for it.
"Erin!"
Zane rushed over to me and brought me into his arms.
"I'm okay just shaken up" I reassured him.
"What happened?" Kaiba asked. "I recognized those two as Rare Hunters"
Zane let go of me and we both turned to face Kaiba.
"They wanted Moonstone Dragon and Balerion" I spoke first. "Of course, we dueled them and won, then I was attacked while Zane was dealing with the other guy"
"If I see that guy who had you pinned he's dead" Zane growled dangerously. He then looked to Kaiba. "You have my gratitude for helping Erin out"
Kaiba only nodded just as Zane's phone went off.
"Dang it" seeing the caller ID.
"Mom?"
Mom"
Mom had a sixth sense when her children were in trouble and with a sign Zane answered the call.
"Are you sure your alright?" Kaiba questioned me with genuine concern.
"Yeah you have good timing"
"We seem to be running into each other a lot"
He smirked at that remark and I mentally swore when I felt my face go red.
"Mokuba running his rounds?" noticing Mokuba wasn't with him
"Yep he's doing a good job with his position"
There was pride in Kaiba's voice and it was damn sweet of his affections towards his younger sibling.
"Dang it I was hoping to say hello to him again, he's a sweet kid"
"He liked meeting you the other day especially when you and Zane were going at it"
Holy shit is he teasing me?
Yep, Seto Kaiba was definitely teasing alright.
"You won another duel I see"
"Only have two more locator cards to go"
"Good because believe it or not I want to see you in the Finals"
"Are you just saying that because of Silver's Cry or do you really mean that?"
"I mean it"
That got me to flush even redder and thank god Zane returned. Kaiba advised us to be careful with the Rare Hunters from now on before leaving.
"Sis your blood red"
"Shut up" I reprimanded him. "I can't help it if he's f **ing gorgeous"
Zane then had me look at him.
"Are you seriously okay though? I was scared when I heard you scream"
It was then I felt tears come to my eyes and soon Zane was rubbing my back as I wept. That encounter with the person controlling the Rare Hunter scared me and now I was afraid of what he or she was capable of.
