Author's Note: Let the silly vibes commence! For the summary, let's just say this chapter involves Ahsoka touching Rex's hair. And he likes it.

EXT. BASE CAMP - EVENING

Ahsoka sits next to Rex at the edge of their camp. They've made camp for the night in the middle of a forest, and will have to pack up in the morning and continue on the next day.

Rex sits leaned up against a tent. Ahsoka sits next to him, trailing her finger through the dirt.

AHSOKA
Why do we both have to be on lookout duty?

Rex nudges her in the side.

REX
What? You don't like it here with me?

AHSOKA
(smiles)
That's not what I mean.

On the other side of camp, Fives sits with Echo, Hardcase, Kix, and Jesse by the fire.

KIX
That was the day I learned bacta patches don't work on Toydarians.

Echo looks like he might puke. Hardcase looks like he's suffering through a lecture, while Fives and Jesse mouth at each other.

FIVES
(mouthing)
Now.

Jesse and Fives stand up.

JESSE
We're playing dare or dare now.

HARDCASE
It's called truth or dare?

JESSE
But this time you have two dares to pick from.

A stupid grin crosses Hardcase's face. Echo looks less sick now.

FIVES
I'll go first. Hardcase, dare or dare?

HARDCASE
DARE!

FIVES
I dare you to take one of the Captain's blasters and put in Ahsoka's sleeping bag.

Hardcase jumps to his feet. Echo raises his hand in protest, but no one notices. Hardcase runs off.

At the lookout, Rex stares into the distance, talking to Ahsoka.

REX
That was back when I secretly wanted to be a chef, but after the whole ordeal I changed my mind.

Ahsoka giggles. Hardcase jumps out at them from nowhere, causing Rex to yelp and lean over into Ahsoka's space. She laughs even harder. Hardcase kneels down over Rex without saying a word and grabs one of his blasters. He stands up and runs off. Rex sits up straight, confused.

REX
Am I hallucinating?

AHSOKA
(laughing)
No.

They turn their heads to see Hardcase run into Ahsoka's tent. She stands up.

AHSOKA
What! Hardcase! Get out of there!

Ahsoka runs across the camp and into her tent.

Back at the campfire, Jesse stands up.

JESSE
My turn! Kix, I dare you ask the Captain if he's ever had a hickey.

Kix stands up with a smirk on his face.

KIX
If he has, I've never seen any evidence of it in the Med Bay.

Kix walks off. Fives, Echo, and Jesse turn to watch from the distance. Kix approaches Rex.

KIX
Uh, Rex?

REX
Yeah?

Kix sits down next to Rex and leans over into his ear.

KIX
Have you ever had a hickey?

Rex leans back in shock.

REX
A what!

KIX
You know, when-

REX
-I know what it is!

KIX
Well, have you?

Rex looks forward and lets out a deep breath.

REX
No.

Kix stands up and wipes the dirt off of his hands.

KIX
Thanks.

Kix walks off. Rex stares after him wondering why everyone is acting so weird.

Ahsoka runs back out of her tent and over to Rex. She hands him his blaster back. In the background, Hardcase sulks back over to the campfire.

AHSOKA
Here you go, Rex.

REX
(takes blaster)
Do you know what's going on?

AHSOKA
No idea.

She resumes her place next to Rex.

Hardcase joins his brothers by the campfire.

HARDCASE
I failed.

ECHO
At least you made it in the tent!

FIVES
Who's next?

ECHO
Ask me! Ask me!

FIVES
Alright, Echo, I dare you to hug both the Captain and Commander at the same time so that their faces get really close together.

ECHO
Fives.

FIVES
It'll be fun!

ECHO
Fine.

Echo wanders off. The rest of the boys watch.

Echo approaches Rex and Ahsoka. He steps behind them and sits down, putting an arm around each of their necks.

ECHO
So, see anything while on lookout duty?

REX
No.

AHSOKA
Not really.

ECHO
I love you guysss.

Echo pulls them in closer. Rex's face gets pulled into Echo's chest and so does Ahsoka's. Rex looks at Ahsoka with wide eyes. He's inches away from her face.

Echo tightens his grip.

ECHO
I never hug both of you enough.

Rex lifts up an arm and pats Echo, hoping he'll let go.

REX
Thanks, Echo.

Echo releases them.

ECHO
Well, I'm tired. Goodnight.

REX
Goodnight.

AHSOKA
More hugs would be great!

Echo smiles as he walks off.

REX
What was that about?

AHSOKA
No idea. It was cute, though.

Rex chuckles. Echo approaches the campfire.

ECHO
Rex definitely wanted me to let go sooner.

Fives pumps his fists in the air.

FIVES
Victory!

ECHO
Victory?

FIVES
Now that we've broken the awkwardness, maybe they'll do something cute tonight.

Echo shakes his head and heads for the tent, smiling.

ECHO
You're never gonna leave this alone.

KIX
I still think it's all in his head.

HARDCASE
What's in his head?

JESSE
Love.

HARDCASE
Fives has love in his head?

Jesse wraps an arm around Hardcase.

JESSE
I'll explain it to you later.

Jesse, Hardcase, Kix, and Echo head into the tent. Fives stays by the campfire watching Rex and Ahsoka.

Over at the lookout, Rex and Ahsoka sit back to back, leaning against each other.

AHSOKA
And Skyguy said I could be doing better.

REX
Well... He's probably right.

AHSOKA
(rolls eyes)
Thanks, Rex.

REX
But you really should be striving for the best. He's only trying to help you.

AHSOKA
(sighs)
Yeah, I know.

They sit in silence, staring out at the landscape. Rex shifts against Ahsoka's back. She hides a smile, then shifts forward.

AHSOKA
Rex?

No longer being supported by Ahsoka's back, Rex falls backwards onto the floor.

REX
(sarcastically)
Thanks.

AHSOKA
(laughs)
I'm sorry.

Ahsoka turns to look down into Rex's face. He stares up at her.

AHSOKA
How can you keep lookout from down there?

Rex groans and puts a hand on his forehead. Ahsoka pulls his hand off of his face and holds his hand in both of hers.

AHSOKA
(quietly)
We're supposed to be keeping watch.

REX
I'm tired.

Ahsoka kneads his hand in between hers. Rex closes his eyes.

REX
That's not helping.

Ahsoka lets go of his hand and pats him on the stomach.

AHSOKA
Get up. We've got a job to do.

Rex sits up with a groan. He leans up against the tent. Ahsoka copies him.

REX
It's gonna be a long night.

Ahsoka nestles up against Rex.

AHSOKA
It's not so bad.

Rex leans his head against Ahsoka's.

REX
Please wake me up if I fall asleep.

Ahsoka hugs Rex's arm.

AHSOKA
Okay.

They sit there for a while. Fives watches from a distance, going back and forth from a I-knew-it stance to a what-in-the-galaxy-is-happening-right-now stance.

Rex's head slips forward sleepily. Ahsoka lifts up a hand and places it on his cheek.

AHSOKA
Are you falling asleep?

REX
(groggily)
No, I'm not.

Ahsoka pulls back to look at him. She lifts her other hand to his face and looks him in the eyes. Rex can barely keep his eyes open.

She giggles and slides her hands up into his hair. Rex closes his eyes. She stops giggling. His hair is so soft. She stares at the top of his head in awe.

Ahsoka begins making circular motions with her fingers through his hair. She stares with her mouth hanging slightly open. Rex moans. A smile spreads across her face.

REX
Mmm... Don't stop.

Ahsoka continues rubbing his head, slowly making her way down towards the back of his neck. Rex's head starts to sway with her hand movements.

Rex leans forward until his forehead meets Ahsoka's shoulder. She drags her fingers down the back of his neck. Rex sucks in a bunch of air and sits up, opening his eyes.

REX
The top of the head is more comfortable.

AHSOKA
You're supposed to be keeping watch with me!

Ahsoka lets go of him. Rex sighs and leans back against the tent.

REX
Fine.

After a few seconds, Rex lets his body slip down the side of the tent so that only his head is being propped up.

REX
I'm lying down, but I can still see.

Ahsoka giggles and puts a hand on his head.

AHSOKA
Not this again.

She rubs her fingers through his hair as Rex tries to stare straight forward. Ahsoka occasionally catches his eyes rolling into the back of his head. She giggles, wondering what it feels like.

Back at the campfire, Fives stares at Rex and Ahsoka. He smiles at them and stands up. He's seen enough to be sure he knows what's going on.
