Barry was currently in his lab at CCPD, doing some fingerprint analysis for one of the cases he had to make up for after missing work on the anniversary of his mother's death and he smiled, since for once when he thought of that day, he didn't think of tragedy. Instead, he thought of joy since it was also the day Iris had agreed to marry him, which was part of the reason he'd chosen to propose to her then. He wanted a reason to smile on that day again.

Anyways, while Barry worked, he had the news on the background and after hearing about a storm coming, he moved to close the lab's retractable roof, since Patty and Julian were both out in the field on other cases, but even if they weren't, since Barry was technically the senior CSI, he had this lab all to himself, but anyways, as Barry closed the roof, he heard the news report change.

"We interrupt this program with breaking news. Just as the controversial Star Labs particle accelerator was nearly complete, there appears to have been some kind of malfunction that's caused the accelerator to not only activate prematurely, but while we are being told that Star Labs staff are trying to contain the situation, it is clearly spiraling out of control." the news anchor said and Barry could hear the sounds of the accelerator clearly preparing to blow.

"Guess they shouldn't have built that thing after all." Barry said, since it was clear that the accelerator was gonna blow. In fact, literally right at that moment, he wasn't sure if he was hearing it from the TV or from across town, but he looked out the window and watched as Star Labs blew up and a wave of energy washed over the city and it seemed to combine with the storm and right as Barry went back to closing the roof, he was struck by a bolt of lightning from the storm that sent him flying across the room and while he didn't know it yet, but his life had just changed forever.

When Barry woke up, he found himself in a hospital bed.

"What happened?" Barry asked, shooting upwards as the heart rate monitor he now realized was attached to his spike as he took in his surroundings and saw that he was in a hospital room with his fiance and sister standing to either side of him with Tina standing in the corner.

"You got struck by lightning." Iris said, looking at her fiance in shock, since despite the fact that Barry had looked extra crispy after he'd first been struck by the lightning a few days ago, now he looked better than ever. Especially since it looked like the lightning had given him abs, something that she definitely wasn't complaining about.

"Wait, then how am I okay?" Barry asked, his mind racing a mile a minute.

"And with abs." Chloe said as she patted her brother's shoulder, only to get a shock as Tina saw a jolt of electricity shoot from Barry's body into Chloe's, which confirmed her initial suspicions from when she saw how quickly Barry recovered his injuries, but she had to wait until they were alone.

"Ow." Chloe said as she waved her hand to get the sting of the shock out of it.

"I feel different." Barry said.

"Yeah, so do I. I don't know what that shock did to me, but I definitely don't feel the same way I did a few minutes ago." Chloe agreed.

"I feel like there's some kind of electric charge running through every cell of my body." Barry said and he could tell that Chloe felt the same.

"That's because that wasn't an ordinary bolt of lightning that struck you." Tina said, since she knew that this day would come.

However, before they could continue their discussion, they were interrupted by the door opening and they saw Dr. Harrison Wells enter the room, but instead of walking, now he was confined to a wheelchair.

"Harrison, what brings you here? Especially since your machine is the reason Barry is in the hospital in the first place." Tina asked him angrily, since while Barry idolized the man, she was very angry that the man who was the reason the boy she loved like a son had nearly been comatose.

"I heard about Mr. Allen's accident and since, like you said, it was my machine that did this to him and I have to admit, I'm intrigued by how quickly Mr. Allen has recovered from his lightning strike. I thought it would've been months before he woke up, not just a few days. I'd like to study his condition a little more in depth at my facility and while I know you don't like it Tina, you can't deny that Star Labs is better equipped for that, not to mention unlike me, your business is still thriving, since it's not like you'll have time to do it yourself, but I promise I'll give you full access to whatever findings my remaining team and I find." Wells said.

"You still have employees?" Tina asked, since Star labs had seen one of the largest drops in staff in history in the shortest period of time, with most of its employees jumping ship, the lab had basically lost everything.

"A small team of my most loyal staff. Dr. Caitlin Snow, Dr. Ryan Choi and Cisco Ramon." Wells said.

"Remind me to offer them all jobs at Mercury later." Tina said and Iris nodded.

"Tina, I know you're upset with Wells, but he's right, whatever happened to me and to Chloe, I think that his facility is better equipped to help us learn to understand it." Barry said and Tina sighed.

"Fine, but I want constant updates." Tina said, since while she would've preferred to oversee Barry's testing personally, she knew that right now she didn't have the time to do so, since like Wells had said, unlike him, her business was still thriving and she couldn't take time off now for something that she couldn't possibly explain. Not if she wanted to keep the promise she'd made to both of his parents. But she knew that once her suspicions were confirmed, it would be time to tell both Barry and Chloe the truth about their father. And hopefully provide Barry with some closure about what happened to him.
