Resident Evil Modern Warfare II: Operation Deadbolt
Chapter 9
The next day, 6:00
"Valentine, MacTavish"
"Go for Jill"
"You're approaching the route for the convoy. Greene want's at least one of them alive." said Soap.
"Any ideas on how to stop a convoy?" asked Jill.
"Remember the Energy Mine I gave you? Fire a mine at the right spot and the blast should do the rest. If there's anything intel wise worth bringing back, make sure it's intact. Find some cover before they see you."
"Copy that." said Jill
Jill then quickly pulled out an Energy mine right at the street as the convoy was appearing ahead. She head for cover in the high ground getting into a sniping position with the rifle aimed at the convoy.
The Energy mine goes off as the convoy passes by, causing a massive chain reaction of explosions with the first few cars leading the way. The convoy stops as the remaining Terminus mercs got out to search the area for the cause.
Jill takes aim and picks off the mercs one by one leaving one sole merc wounded after shooting him in the leg. She runs over to the wounded merc to interrogate.
"What's Terminus' plans with the Aetherium?"
"I ain't telling you shit!" replied the merc.
Jill steps on the gun would with her boot as the merc cries out in pain. She then places the barrel of the sniper on his head.
"Last chance. You really wanna die here and be zombie food?"
The merc then frantically hands Jill a debrief file on Doctor Ava Jansen.
"There's a tablet in the back of the truck. There's three hidden. One by the cemetary at the church and one by a zombie nest." said the Merc.
"Mark it on the map here." demanded Jill handing him her Tac Map.
"That's all I know. I swear to god." said the merc.
"That's alright. I believe you.
"No no no NO NO NO"
Jill goes for the headshot on the merc. She then retrieves one of the cypher tablets from the truck.
"All stations, this Valentine. I'm gonna need some help. I need two tablets retrieved at these specific locations that I'll mark on the Tac Map. Any volunteers to RV with?"
"Byline here. Name the time and place Jill"
"Lockpick on standby. Where to?"
"Alright girls. We're heading to church in the Tier 1 zone. Got eyes on a PND contract." said Jill.
"Jill's new Strike team heads for the Church cemetary to activate the PND contract to get the second Cypher tablet.
"Barrera here. Very simple instructions to follow. The activation tablet I gave you will work on the PND. I sent a previous team to investigate. But I never heard back. Be advised the Aether coming from the device will attract the undead to your position."
"You heard Barrera ladies. Cover all entrances."
Jill, Byline and Lockpick held off the horde as the PND did it's job. After the PND did it's job, the Aether in the area disappeared
"Barrera, I'm sorry, your team didn't make it."
"Oh...I see."
"Boss, I found something" said Byline as she found a tablet and hands it to Jill.
"And that's two. Alright prep a gas mask. We gotta bust an infested stronghold.
The strike team arrived at the Infested Stronghold to clean it out as the tablet appeared from a popped cyst.
"Jill?" said Lockpick holding up the cypher tablet.
"Finish this up and let's head out." said Jill
After cleaning up the infested stronghold,
"Soap, I got all three cypher tablets. Now what?"
"Transfer the data to Dobbs' drone. He and Greene can use the cyphers to pinpoint a location Dr. Jansen's tablet.
"Jesus how many more fucking tablets?" Jill cursed to herself.
"Just one more. You get that, Greene can execute a rescue mission."
Jill sends the data as Dobbs and Greene got to work.
"Just got word on a location. Marking location on Tac Map."
"Need us to give you a lift?" asked Byline seeing a hatchback nearby.
"Would you mind?" asked Jill.
The girls drove Jill to the location, dropping her off with Jill thanking them and sending them back into the field.
"Thanks for the assist. I'll take it from here."
Jill then goes searching for Dr. Jansen's tablet top to bottom until she eventually finds it.
"What a fucking day it's been."
"Deadbolt, I found Dr. Jansen's tablet. Ready to RTB."
"Bravo Zulu Jill. Head to the nearest evac point." said Soap.
"This running around for tablets shit better be worth it."
Deadbolt HQ
Jill heads to debriefing with Greene, Dobbs, Soap and Ravenov waiting for her.
"Got the tablet." said Jill handing it to Greene.
"Nice work Valentine" said Greene.
"Do we even know anything about this Ava Jansen anyway?" asked Jill.
"Zakhaev hired her as a scientist to study Aetherium under a ruse. " explained Ravenov.
"Tricking a scientist into working on a Bioweapon for them. Typical."
"Yesterday the drone was able to pick up a channel coming from her as a SOS. Sounded urgent. Probably Zakhaev and Fletcher know about this by now and she's in danger." said Dobbs.
"The good doctor probably out living her usefulness to them." adds Soap.
"We need to bring her in. Find out what she knows and get her on the team. If she knows anything, it can lead us to Zakhaev." said Greene.
"I'll go." Jill volunteered.
"Alone? Gonna be a lot of PMC and the dead standing in your way." said Soap.
"I'm not letting an innocent bystander get killed in all this. Tell me where to find here and I'll bring her back." said Jill.
"Get geared up then. Once we have a location, you'll be deployed immediately. Good luck." said Greene.
