Chapter 8
"Liam?"
Malia stood up and yelled down at him, "What are you doing? I could have killed you!"
"Sorry," Liam was still on his back. He had his hands raised in defense, "I thought you were Artemis or her brothers."
"I thought you were one of them," she helped Scott to his feet as she spoke, "I definitely would have killed you."
Stiles was lying on the floor, groaning, when Malia yanked him to his feet.
Liam stood up and the four of them embraced.
"It's great to see you, Liam," Scott patted Liam on the back, "I'm glad you're okay."
"We should hurry," Malia said, Artemis could be back any minute.
They went up the stairs, Lydia quickly hugged Liam, and the group left, going to Scott's house to exchange stories and make sure Liam stayed safe.

"So, after I saw Malia and she told me that you were coming, we went to that cabin where you guys found me," Liam was sitting on Scott's couch with a clean set of clothes as he told the pack his story. He had already told them of how Artemis had kidnapped him.
"They took me down to the basement, but they didn't tie me up as tightly as usual and also didn't give me that wolfsbane shot. After they left, I just pulled the ropes off, easy. When you guys came down there, I thought for sure it was them and they were going to knock me out again."
Scott patted him on the pack and said, "Well, I'm glad you're back, Liam. If what you told us is true, then we should be ready for Artemis to attack again. From now on, we stay in groups of two at least."
Liam spoke again, "What about Artemis's old pack? She told me they were looking for her and they were close. That means they're in Beacon Hills. I know we don't want to help her, but we still have to protect everyone else."
"Can't we just let them take her? Then none of them would be our problem anymore," Malia said.
"No," Scott says sternly, "we can't do that. Beacon Hills is our priority but I won't let anyone die."
Malia sighed, "Fine."

Earlier
Artemis was sitting at one of the tables in the cabin, fidgeting with her fingers. She used her supernatural hearing to listen to the commotion down in the basement. She heard Malia yelling at Liam, saying she could've killed him. Finally, she thought, I was sure Malia was going to attack us in the woods. She and her brothers had known Malia was following them almost from the beginning.
While listening, Artemis realised that Malia had called Scott and most likely the rest of the pack. That was very out of character. Was she too afraid to face us alone?, she wondered and laughed quietly to herself. She heard Scott, Malia, Liam, and the rest of them leave the basement and she leaned back in her chair and sighed. She was thankful that the whole thing was finally over. She was honestly getting tired of being the bad guy and keeping Liam hostage. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but she didn't know it would take her pack so long to get to her. She hated it, the waiting, the hatred in Liam's eyes every time he saw her. She wasn't really all that bad, it just the way she was raised.
If I get out of this, she promised herself, I'll try to change, be more likable. She shook her head, that was going to be difficult but she had to focus on the biggest problem at hand. Without Liam, Artemis had just given up any leverage she had had over Scott. Now there was no way he was going to help her beat her old pack. Maybe she shouldn't have let him go, she should've tied his ropes as tightly as usual, injected him with the wolfsbane, made sure Malia and Scott hadn't come. She buried her face in her hands, "Ah, this is too much. I don't want to do this anymore." She stood up, told her brothers where she was going, and went out the door.
