Chapter 2: Death With A Morningstar.
"Oh my goodness! Are you two alright?!"
The voice of a woman caught Mors attention as he looked up toward the sound while Vaggie was limp and unconscious in his arms but steadily breathing. Mors saw a woman running up to them wearing what seemed to be a red tuxedo jacket with a small black bowtie along side some black dress pants. As the woman got closer Mors took notice of her features. Her skin was pale white and she had cute rosy cheeks, her hair was blonde and banded twice into a low ponytail.
Mors couldn't help but find her appearance quite cute and for some reason he had a desire to pinch her cheeks.
Catching her breath after finally reaching the two, The woman looked up before suddenly freezing in place. She wasn't really paying attention as she spotted them, She only noticed the grey woman collapsing and immediately ran to help, Not taking much notice of the one who caught the unconscious woman.
She had seen very tall demons before but this guy was TALL, His features she noted were similar to some of the pictures of earth her mother would send her in the past, 'Mimes' she thinks they were called. He also wore a long white robe with a few golden designs on it, She was in awe by his outfit.
But then she noticed his wings.
And then his crooked, spikey halo.
'Oh, fuck...' The woman thought to herself as she became on edge. Despite his strange halo she knew this wasn't a hellborne or a sinner.
This was a angel.
A very scary, very big angel, Who was holding onto a citizen of hell, One of her people, Who was missing a eye and was unconscious.
The now nervous woman knew this could go one of two ways, So she prepared herself.
The woman took a steady breath, Steeling her nerves, She walked up slowly to the angel before she straighten her back. Mors just looked at her curiously.
"Um, Mister, Uh... Angel. Could you please not do this?" She pleaded out, looking at the angel, Mors giving her a confused look "The extermination is over, there is no need for this... Please give her to me so I can take care of her and you can go back to heaven. Please, There's no need for more death..." She finished, hoping the angel would be reasonable in her request and let the woman go.
Mors blinked in confusion at her words before realizing what she meant, Then he grew a expression of panic before answering.
"W- wait, No! I wasn't- I mean, I'm not!" Mors couldn't stop himself from stuttering so he decided to stop and take a deep breath before continuing "No miss, This is a misunderstanding, I'm not here to hurt anyone, I came here looking for help and then suddenly the extermination started, One thing lead to another and I'm just trying to help now. I swear to you miss I am no exorcist." Mors finished, hoping the woman would believe him.
The woman stared long and hard for a moment, Her features then softened before she questioned with hope in her voice "Really?"
"Really, Truly." Mors said giving her a sincere smile as the woman let out a deep sigh of relief "My name is Mors. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Miss... Uh? " Mors greeted politely, His greetings trailed off though since he didn't know the woman's name.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Charlie, Charlie Morningstar! Nice to meet you, Mors!" Charlie said introducing herself cheerfully but then her voice turned to worry when she looked to the woman in his arms "Is she ok? Does she need anything? Oh, Her poor eye, How can they do something like tha-" Her worrying was interrupted by the voice of Mors.
"Miss Morningstar, Please calm yourself. I am worried myself do to her sudden fainting spell but I've healed her wounds and she is breathing steadily. I'm sure she'll be ok, She just needs to rest." Mors spoke out calmly. Charlie slowly calmed herself once more as Mors continued "Miss Morningstar, I hope it isn't rude for me to ask but is there somewhere I can take her to recover comfortable?" He asked politely.
"Yes, Oh course! We can head to my hotel!" Charlie said rapidly, Happy to help in anyway she could.
Mors gave a heartwarming smile, Which for some reason made Charlie feel warm and fuzzy. Suddenly a memory of her father and mother smiling at her came to mind but she was broken out from those thoughts when Mors spoke up once again.
"Thank you, Miss Morningstar. You are truly kind." Mors spoke out, His smile still ever present on his face. He was happy that the first native of hell he met was so caring and helpful. 'Why would heaven allow such deeds to happen to such good people?' Mors thought to himself.
Mors wasn't sure but he thought he heard someone laughing hysterically in the far distance.
Oh, Well.
"Your welcome! Oh, And you can just call me Charlie, No need to be so formal." Charlie spoke cheerfully. Mors eyes widen at her request before giving Charlie a nervous smile.
"Alright Mis- I mean Charlie." Mors said unsure, He wasn't use to non-formal interactions except with those he held close to his heart. It was a habit that was kind of just drilled into his head by a old friend of his. Memories of a certain female angel from his past came to mind, His smile slowly dropping. Mors then shook his head slightly he could reminisce about old times later. Looking back at Charlie, Mors saw her face full of concern.
"Mors, Are you ok?" Charlie asked, concerned for her new found friend. Mors eyes widen for a second before his features relaxed and he gave a small smile.
"Yes, Mi-... Charlie, I'm quite fine, No need to worry for me. Um, So about your hotel?" Mors asked, He really didn't want to linger around in the open city much longer when Vaggie was still unconscious in his arms.
"Oh, Yea! Though it might be a trek it's kind of out on the far outskirts of the city!" Charlie spoke out giving Mors a bright smile before turning around and heading foward.
Mors then started to follow Charlie toward the closest exit out of the city with Vaggie still in his arms. Mors thought about flying them out but he wanted to be careful with Vaggie, He wasn't sure he could carry both her and Charlie at the moment. Mors then felt something gripping onto his robes, looking down he could see Vaggie no longer limp but still not awake gripping tightly on him as she gave out a small whimper, Mors wondered if she was having a bad dream. Mors then hugged her closer to his body while his arms started glowing faintly.
"Don't worry Miss Vaggie, I'm here." Mors whispered to her before smiling as Vaggie snuggled into his robes, she then smiled in content feeling his warmth.
Charlie looked back seeing the two's interaction with each other and couldn't help but feel a sense of longing as memories of her parents smiling and hugging her together came to her mind but she shook her head and simply sighed while continuing to walk towards home with Mors in tow.
-Later Outside Charlie's hotel, On The Far Outskirts-
"Well, Here we are!" Charlie's spoke out as she presented a tall building on a large hill.
Mors looked up at the rather gigantic building on the hill, It looked like a very run down hotel that had seen way better days. Broken windows, crumbling walls, a large cruise ship sticking out the side of it. Mors wasn't sure what to say but he then managed to word something out surprisingly.
"My, It's rather... rustic..." Mors said while Charlie gave a nervous laugh looking a bit embarrass from the poor attempt at a compliment.
"I know it's a bit... rundown, but once I get the money, I'm sure it will be fit for a overlord! Maybe even two!" Charlie said, Rubbing her arm and chuckling nervously.
"But I'm sure the buildings and places in heaven are much more wonderous and beautiful then anything here in the hell though." She said with a small smile. Mors looked at Charlie curiously before smiling.
"To be honest Charlie, From what I seen of the hell so far, I find your land and city to be just as spectacular an monumental as any place in heaven." Mors said honestly, surprising Charlie "Also you've been nothing but polite and hospitable to me, If someone as great as you lives here then I'm sure the rest of your homeland and it's people are just as wonderful also." Mors added.
Once again, Mors thought he heard someone laughing far in the distance but he chose to ignore it.
"You- You really mean that?" Charlie asked very touched by Mors's words "No one I know has ever said anything nice about hell, Especially my dad..." Charlie said sadly. Mors gave a look of concern, If it wasn't for Vaggie he would of given Charlie a comforting hug "I know that hell has it's... problems... like really, really big problems... but I have hope all that can be turned around with a strong positive attitude and whole bunch of hugs!." She continued, Her voice and features becoming more upbeat. Making Mors's smile.
"Then I wish you all the luck, Charlie." Mors spoke out, Charlie giving him a look of appreciation. "And if you need some support just ask, I'm always happy to help a kind soul like yourself." he continued with a supportive smile, Making Charlie's eyes widen as hope filled her heart at the idea of gaining divine help.
"Mors... Thank you." Charlie said softly, Thankful towards Mors's kindness. 'Never put your trust in angels, Charlie.' That's what her father always told her but for the very short time she's spoken to Mors she started thinking it was just another one of those bitter phrases her father would make about heaven.
Charlie then noticed the woman Mors was holding, The one she didn't know the name of, Something she felt ashamed for not asking, Was starting to stir in his arms "Oh! We should get her inside!" Charlie said with worry in her voice. Mors simply nodded as he and Charlie then made there way up to front door of the hotel before entering in.
-Somewhere In A Room Full Of Rubber Ducks-
"Mmm... No Michael, I don't wanna go to Eden today..."
A room full of royalty, elegance, beauty.
And rubber ducks.
A room for your typical being of noble blood, with a unique enthusiasm for small plastic yellow duck shape bath toys. This room belongs to none other then the king of hell himself, The fallen angel Lucifer. Who was currently dreaming away on his couch.
Hugging a oversized yellow duck plushie.
What was it that made the king of hell so attached to such cute squeaky objects only found on earth.
Probably best to not ask and move on.
Currently wearing white pajamas with little duck designs on them. Lucifer was snoring away with the occasional mumble of words. His features were similar to that of Charlie's but his hair was short and he had a very impressive row of sharp teeth. He was also quite short, especially for someone who once carried the title of archangel.
Suddenly though, Lucifer was rattled out of his sleep with the sound of loud holy music and a bright holy light coming from the windows and shinning down on him.
"You got heavagram!" A loud booming feminine voice rang out throughout the room as a golden envelope with wings appeared over Lucifer startling him.
"Wha- What! What the fuck?!" Lucifer said as he sat straight up all discombobulated. Lucifer then after gaining his senses snatched the 'heavagram' from the air, his eyes looking at it in annoyance.
"Seriously, Right now?! What the fuck, The extermination just ended! Let me sleep you fuckers!" Lucifer yelled while greatly annoyed. He then tried to open it only to find out it wouldn't tear "What?" He spoke out confused as he started to examine the letter.
"Who the hell is 'Freakshow'?" Lucifer questioned aloud with a raised eyebrow as he read the words 'For Freakshow' on the 'heavagram'.
