Around noon the next day, a cry of irritation was heard as Linus and Charlie Brown walked by the Van Pelts house.
The former stopped in his tracks, looking over immediately.
"Charlie Brown. I might…I ought to…well…"
"…go check that out" Charlie Brown finished, "you probably should, yes"
Nodding, Linus waved briefly and ran into his front yard.
Inside, Lucy stormed towards the door after receiving some news. Linus had just sat on his front step when he heard it swing open.
"I give up" his sister exclaimed, "You pretty much just won…".
She turned and walked aside of the doorway.
"…and besides, we have a new younger brother".
But Linus had already pushed himself up, and passed right on by her, going though the hallway.
And as he stopped, he rested his head against the wall. Now back in his own home, he had a feeling of satisfaction.
"Honestly, the whole thing was just stupid" he muttered. "I don't even….".
And then it dawned on him, "WAIT, WE HAVE A WHAT?"
It was several days later when Sally got a time to speak to Linus, only to end up finding in his arms was a baby.
"I'd hoped to bond with you over not being a older sibling. Guess not now".
Linus simply shook his head.
"He got a name?"
"A name?" Linus thought, "well, he'd being called Rerun. As for his actual name it's…"
Before he could finish a car horn was heard, the noise providing a lasting interruption.
"…don't worry about it".
"Guess I won't" she said, "Hey, I gotta go now, so catch you later"
Sally turned and went over to friends, while Linus continued observing the baby.
Lucy had avoided people, particularly him, since Rerun's birth. But noticeably, he'd found a piece of paper with the words "I'm Sorry" written, in handwriting that seemed to kinda look like hers. She may get to C grade one day
"Congratulations Linus"
Charlie Brown squeezed and patted his shoulder, "I'm glad to share "older brotherhood" with you".
"Thanks Charlie Brown"
"I mean, you showed some of that with Sally" he continued. "She really saw what you told her".
"Sally'll do that with me" Linus replied.
"Yeah, you being the wannabe boyfr…Hey"
Charlie Brown reached, and felt his head where Linus had lightly hit him.
"And now he's amused" he pointed to Rerun, now playing up. Linus kept his brother in his lap as the duo continued talking. And when they finished, it was clarified that he knew that Charlie Brown had a point.
Besides, he could take solace in that there was one sister who showed she was gonna keep him with her.

A/N: So that chapter wraps this fic up. Apologies it took a bit before getting out there. Writers block hit just when I had its chapters 80% fleshed out.
