Many things have happened since the day of prophecy came and went. But the most important thing that happened was that Furina decided to go live in Nazarick with Ainz, stepping down from her divinity.
Furina spent the last 500 years acting like something she wasn't, and decided that becoming a shut-in for a while would be nice.
Ainz obviously supported this, allowing her full access to whatever her heart desired. And what Furina desired was intimacy.
Which led them to where they were right now.
Albedo and Shalltear entered Ainz's office, coming to inform their master of their ongoing operation to worm their way into Fontaine's political system. However, they were utterly dumbfounded and enraged with what Furina had done to Ainz.
Furina was curled inside of Ainz's chest cavity, while Ainz was just leaning back on his chair.
"AINZ-SAMA!" Albedo shouted out in manic surprise, "YOU ALLOW THIS CRETIN TO- TO- TOUCH YOU SO INTIMATELY?!"
Shalltear growled, "I'm going to kill you!"
Furina blew out her tongue at the two NPCs, "Boo. Shut up. Ainz, can you tell them to go away? They're ruining my relaxation day."
"Furina, you've done nothing but relax this past week," Ainz pointed out kindly.
"This is my 7th relaxation day," Furina said.
Ainz sighed, "Okay… Well, Albedo, Shalltear. Be nice to Furina from now on, alright?"
The two reluctantly bowed.
Then, Shalltear asked, "Okay, fine… Furina, you can be part of the harem."
Albedo nodded, "That is the furthest we are willing to compromise. I will still be the head wife."
Shalltear turned to Albedo with an ugly snarl on her face, "You gorilla-!"
Furina looked up to the bottom of Ainz's skull and whispered, "You really have to stay with these guys?"
Ainz sighed, "They are my most prized possession. I can't just abandon them."
Furina has heard from Ainz about how Nazarick is all that remains of his friendship with 40 of his closest friends from back in the day. If Furina's first friends before she decided that friendship was too costly to keep had left something like this, then she would likely be the same as Ainz.
Sometimes, Furina feels a bit envious of Ainz. Ainz managed to avoid the same path she treaded because he met her. Though, Furina was very lucky to meet Ainz in the first place as well.
Furina understandingly nodded, "I see. Well, I'm not planning to give you up to anyone else, so I hope you're fine with that."
Ainz lightheartedly chuckled, "Haha, you are my one and only, Furina."
Ainz wasn't as quiet, so Albedo and Shalltear ended up passing out in shock upon hearing his words of monogamous intent.
Furina sighed, "Oh, well."
Ainz sighed as well, "...I guessI'll have to call Sebas to deal with this."
As Ainz went to message Sebas, a different message came to him from Pandora's Actor, "Mein Fuhrer! Some odd boy named Aether came to the entrance of Nazarick, politely requesting Furina's presence!"
Ainz had to think of who Aether was for a few moments before realizing who Aether actually was. If he recalled, it was that blonde boy who was there helping fight the All Devouring Narwhal alongside him and Neuvillette.
Ainz was still mildly salty that Neuvillette ended up getting a major power boost and was now basically a world enemy with his ability to control all water so well as to being able to create new species out of water. And Ainz had totally written him off as being a threat in favor of thinking Furina was the actual threat.
But no harm, no foul.
"Aether decided to show up today to meet you," Ainz said, "Do you want to go see him?"
Furina sighed as she carefully took herself out of Ainz's body, "I suppose we can go hear him out."
Ainz nodded, "I see. Let us depart, then."
For the first minute after Furina told Aether that she would not be participating in The Little Oceanid, she was very proud of herself for not being held back by her past as a star. That she could control her own destiny by doing what she wanted.
Then, after that minute passed, she realized that she kind of missed being involved in plays. After all, she wouldn't have done it for 500 years if she didn't at least slightly like it.
So, with a great deal of shame, Furina turned to Ainz and twiddled her fingers nervously, "Um, Ainz… I think I want to go, uh, hear them out for a bit longer?"
Ainz tilted his head, "After you so viciously declined him the first time?"
Furina hesitantly chuckled, "Ah, well um… We make mistakes in the heat of passion, right, Ainz?"
"You must really want to go back into being involved with theater, then," Ainz said, "As the director, or player?"
"Hopefully the director," Furina answered, "The days of being the player are hopefully long behind me."
Ainz thoughtfully nodded, "I see. In that case, I can make a portal to the Court of Fontaine before Aether makes it back, so we can scare them."
"Ainz, this is why I love you."
Now that Furina had gotten out of her shut-in era, Furina decided to become a director. And her first project to direct was The Little Oceanid.
Ainz was not a theater person, so he could do very little except follow Furina around and doing her every bidding. She needed props? Nazarick's treasury probably had them. She needed her actors to show up? Can't hide from Ainz. Did she need a break? Ainz would have already set up the bed, chair, or hammock.
Also, one of their actors had some sort of condition that occasionally prevented her from doing anything substantial for a while. Ainz couldn't cure it for some odd reason, and so they just decided to take their chances and hope that it wouldn't interfere with the play.
With all of that said and done, however, the night of the play finally came, and it was wonderful.
Ainz didn't have much attachment to the play, so he ended up just watching it from the audience as a satisfied member.
That was, until Furina came out to do her song, and it was beautiful. Ainz was pretty sure his limitless love for her went even higher, defying the impossible. After all, how could anyone not love Furina after hearing her beautiful singing voice? Ainz wasn't a massive fan of music, but Furina was the exception, as golden nectar flowed into his ears.
As Furina finished her song, Ainz almost wished he could've heard her voice for a little longer. But he would hear her again very soon anyhow.
Then, he noticed that the hydro vision on stage was a genuine hydro vision.
Ainz immediately turned to Neuvillette, who was coincidentally sitting next to him. Neuvillette was too busy clapping to notice Ainz's stare of mild annoyance.
Ainz decided to just handle it later, and began to clap for Furina as well.
Except, Ainz couldn't begin clapping at that moment, because Ainz was the first person to clap after the song was finished.
After the show ended, the first person Furina went to talk to was Ainz.
Furina nervously asked, "So, I had to play that song from memory, so it might've been a bit rough but-"
"You did perfectly, Furina," Ainz easily complimented, "There were no flaws to your performance. Except for, perhaps, the fact that I wished to hear you sing more."
Furina sighed in relief, "Oh that's good. I thought it was good, but I just wanted to hear it from you…"
Ainz tilted his head, "You already know that I find that everything you do is perfect."
Furina blushed, "I know. I just wanted to hear your voice."
The two hugged, getting "aww's" from the people around them.
Omakes
Neuvillette's Misfortune.
Sebas has become a household name in the Court of Fontaine, as Sebas was the only seller of the greatest potion products to ever be sold on the Fontaine market. According to Sebas, his source was the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick, a fact only revealed after Lady Furina allowed for Nazarick to operate freely within Fontaine.
However, before Sebas was the foremost potion seller in Fontaine, he was Neuvillette's friend.
The two had met while Sebas and Neuvillette were busy enjoying the sunset on a Tuesday that nobody but them remembered. Then, Sebas asked if the water in Fontaine was any good, and Neuvillette responded with an essay. Then, Sebas responded with his own essay about how water couldn't make it past the top 5 of drinks, and the two had gotten into an argument about what drinks were better than water.
Which, bafflingly, led into their friendship as the two regularly attempted to defend the honor of their preferred drink.
Sebas knocked on the door of Neuvillette's office, causing Neuvillette to stop writing for a moment, "Come in."
Sebas entered, very formally as usual, greeting Neuvillette, "Good afternoon, Monsieur Neuvillette. I have finally gotten the necessary permission from Ainz-sama to invite you to Nazarick in order to prove your claims incorrect, and that Nazarick's beverages cleanly outclasses the water of Teyvat."
Neuvillette frowned, "You say that, but I am not impressed by your master's domain."
"Ants do not understand humans either," Sebas retorted, "Now, if you have the time, I have secured Aureole's aid in granting us access to Nazarick quickly."
Neuvillette stood up, "Yes, I do have time. Please guide me then, Monsieur Sebas."
Neuvillette was only mildly surprised by the portal, as he had seen it before.
"This is good," Neuvillette's first thoughts betrayed his heart as he stared at the cup of "Enchanted Sylvanas Juice" that Sebas had given him, "Too good, in fact. I feel as though I have betrayed Fontaine just by sipping this."
Sebas arrogantly stated, "I have won."
Neuvillette, on sheer spite alone, declared, "You have not. I have not formally given my opinion on this juice yet."
"Enchanted Sylvanas Juice does not make the top 10 of the greatest beverages in Nazarick," Sebas informed him, a dangerous tint to his eye.
Neuvillette was immensely surprised by the fact that the nectar of the gods didn't even make it to the top 10. This juice outclassed basically every beverage available to the Fontainian people, and it didn't make it to the top 10.
Neuvillette would have to fight to survive to ensure that Fontaine's waters did not suffer a defeat today.
Which is when he heard a sniffle coming from beside him. Two of them, actually.
The challenge was taking place inside of Nazarick's bar, as it was a less disruptive place to have drinks than the cafeteria. However, the bar was currently occupied by Albedo and Shallter who were crying about… Something.
Neuvillette cleared his throat, "Excuse me, are you two alright?"
Shalltear was the one who answered as though she found out her entire nation drowned, "Ainz-sama abandoned us…"
Albedo followed up on Shalltear's comment, also sounding as though she had no purpose in life any longer, "Ainz-sama chose that brat Furina over us…"
Ah, unrequited love. What a shame.
Well, there wasn't anything Neuvillette could do for them, this was a matter outside his jurisdiction. But he could offer some solace, "Why don't you introduce me to your drinks to keep your minds off of the situation? Sebas is being quite annoying with his zealous attitude towards Nazarick's drinks…"
Shalltear raised a finger, "Try Bloody Mary… I'm drunk…"
Albedo sniffed as she suggested something else, "The Nazarick Special sucks. If you want to pass out, try it."
Neuvillette smiled, "Bartender, I'll have those."
Sebas did a spit take as he cursed his co-workers, "You're sabotaging me?!"
That night, very little productive work happened.
AN:
The most filler chapter of filler chapters. But I'm so close to the end that I don't care anymore. I liked Furina's story quest anyways and I don't feel like reinventing the wheel.
Next chapter is the ending, which is Ainz's story quest.
