AU where Rin Nohara, Minato Namikaze's student, (along with Kakashi and Obito), ended up traveling to the future on the day she is supposed to have died, by the Kamui unconsciously used by her two teammates at the same time. Naruto is a year older than in the anime/manga, and is set a few days before returning to Konoha, with Naruto and Rin 17 years old, biologically.
Idea that came about after reading a Yojimbra fanfic

Sometimes Rin Nohara, a former student of the fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, couldn't believe everything that had happened in the last 3 years... 3 for her, but 18 years for everyone else.
Starting when she was kidnapped by Kirigakure ninjas who turned her into the Jinchūriki of the 3-tailed beast, but using a faulty seal, because their plan was for the seal to fail when she was back from Konoha and the Sanbi was released.
But in trying to prevent her from being used as a weapon against her beloved people, she made the decision to sacrifice her life when her teammate and friend, Kakashi Hatake , Kakashi Hatake, was using his 'Raikiri' jutsu against one of the Kirigakure ninjas, so she stood in Kakashi's way to be killed by Raiton's technique.
However, life, destiny, luck or whatever people want to call it, is curious and strange, because instead of dying that day, in some unknown way, Nohara was sent to the future, about 15 years in the future.
Rin was very confused when she landed on the ground and that the scenery looked different to what were only a few moments for her, in addition to being completely alone… she tried to look for Kakashi, as well as avoid meeting the ninja from the village hidden in the mist again, but none of them appeared. So, she set out on her way back to Konoha or at least to the territory of Hi no Kuni, hoping to find some Konoha companion who could ask for help from her sensei, Hokage-sama, Kushina-san or Lord Jiraya-sama, since they were the ones who best knew sealing techniques. But it was only a few hours before the seal that kept the Sanbi within his being began to fail.
Rin didn't know if it was luck or something else, but just moments after the seal began to fail, she ran into Jiraya and Naruto. But her sensei's sensei reacted quickly, and she still did not understand what he did, since she had no talent for seals, only that she lost consciousness when Jiraya-sama restrained the Sanbi despite the defective seal.
When she woke up, she was on Mount Myōboku, where she met Naruto and the toads summons… and where Jiraya-sama told her that she had somehow traveled to the future.
At first she thought that Jiraiya-sama was joking with her. She refused to believe it, it couldn't be possible.
It was only until a few days after Jiraiya-sama resumed his training journey for Naruto that 29-year-old Kakashi arrived where they were and she could no longer deny that cruel truth.
She was afraid of returning to Konoha, where the people she knew had grown old or were dead. And Rin still had to face that, as both Kakashi and Jiraiya realized this, which along with the fact that she was now a Jinchūriki , the two accomplished Shinobi thought that perhaps it would be best for her to accompany Naruto and the white-haired Sannin on their training trip, as well as keep it a secret for as long as possible that the Sanbi was back, and his Jinchūriki was a ninja from Konoha.
Putting that aside, it was hard for her to adjust to the fact that everything had changed for her, but Jiraiya-sama gave her space and Naruto, well Naruto was like Kushina-san and Obito, always trying to cheer up and help others. And it didn't take Rin more than two hours to realize that Naruto was the son of Kushina-san and his sensei the same day Kakashi caught up with them.
For some reason that detail never occurred to Jiraiya-sama, nor to Kakashi, so the moment she mentioned it when she was training with Naruto and several shadow clones, well she found out that Naruto didn't know it.
To this day Rin has engraved in his mind when Naruto hit his two sensei, which due to guilt and shame for hiding the truth from him, they could not stop him from hitting them in their respective crotches with a few strong and quick punches. Just like the screams, anger, and sadness that Naruto had that day.
In a way, the state they were in helped them start a strong friendship, when they both parted ways with Jiraiya and Kakashi, who were strongly scolded by Shima, as the toad sages were with them that day.
Needless to say, the following weeks were awkward for her, Naruto, and Jiraya-sama, because Naruto was not acting like him when he was in the presence of the sannin, while her sensei's sensei tried to apologize and make up in every way he could think of for lying to his sensei's son as well as being absent in your life. And some days it was even up to Shima-sama and Fukasaku-sama to train Naruto, at least until a little over a month later when Shima-sama took Naruto and Jiraiya-sama with her to Mount Myōboku, while she and Fukasaku-sama continued to train.
Rin still didn't know what had happened to them, but when they came back, they were both much better and seemed to have patched things up between them, although Jiraiya-sama looked quite beaten for some reason... so the next few years were very fruitful, from their training, in which the wise toads helped very often, to the personal level as her growing friendship with Naruto changed after two years, when they started dating.
And to this day, just a couple of months after they started dating, Rin still couldn't believe that several weeks ago she became so bold with Naruto, since the first time they made it. She blamed it on alcohol and Jiraiya-sama who seemed determined that both she and Naruto would be drunk that night, so that they would let go of any inhibitions…
She still found it hard to believe how much they drank that day, since being Jinchūrikis it was more difficult for them to get drunk, and she still doesn't fully remember several parts of the first hours of that night. Although she was grateful that the Sannin gave each one a type of seal that could be used as a contraceptive.
