This Chapter may be updated if I am lucky to be granted official permission to use the song that I heard two months ago that this scene. I have held onto this for months, tweaking it and in the process, I had a version commissioned and it will be on You-Tube under the account Raizzor Yes, this story is that serious to me. Until then, I recommend you play the song "Photograph" by Ed Sheeran.
Angel ran down the street, almost losing traction as he turned a corner, and nearly ran into a couple, who were laughing under an umbrella. They moved as he raced by, and watched as his form faded into the pouring rain and growing fog. Angel felt something pull him southward towards the river. Angel ran and ran for ten minutes, occasionally calling out Charlie's name in the dark, wet night… thunder sometimes answered instead and his heart beat against his chest in fear and sadness. Where was she?
"CHARLIE!"
He turned once more to run across the sets of train tracks between St Louis St and the river walk, he bounded up the concrete steps two at a time and came to a sudden stop… Charlie, in human form, stood under the Riverwalk Gazebo, drenched and looking blankly out towards the dark waters. Angel put his palms on his knees to collect his breath. Even in the pouring rain and thunder, Charlie's ears heard him and she turned his way, her face soaked not from the rain, but her tears. She wrapped her arms around herself and watched him approach until he was under the gazebo with her.
(Song begins here)
She watched him take a few steps, but she backed away in unison until her back was against one of the pillars. She rested her head back against it, and raised her chin up and squeezed her eyes shut, as fresh sobs shook her body. Angel moved in and pulled her into his arms, and she broke completely.
Holding her body in his, Angel let his own tears fall against her cheeks, mixed together.
Lifting her chin, Angel pulled her into a desperate kiss, giving all of his soul to her, and she spilled hers into him.
They held each other tight as the lightning broke in the sky, followed by thunder. Angel broke the kiss first, looked into Charlie's eyes, quivering lips shook, he ran his hand down between her breasts, felt her heart beat fast against his fingers, she traced her fingers along his chest in kind, and felt his beat in tune to hers, as one.
Angel opened his breast pocket, took out the photograph that they'd taken together, and she looked at it fondly and to him questioningly. He took one last look at it, then looked into her eyes and he gives her a loving smile...
Angel slipped the photograph down and into her pocket of her ripped blue jeans, and her lips quivered in understanding.
Her hand brushed over his hand, pressed it against her thigh, and accepted the gift with a fresh sob.
They kiss again. Charlie pulled Angel against her, as she let the pillar support her weight. They swallow each other's love, grasping for every bit they can share, She kisses his lips, his neck, as he does the same..she tries to absorb his love as she crushingly felt the pull of home begin in the pit of her stomach.
Soaked from the rain and drowning in their need for each other, they try to grab onto every second of love they can share together, bodies wrappedg around each other, their mouths, hands and hips trying to mix together in their passionate embrace, as if teetering on the edge of a precipice, afraid to let go.
As she felt the grip of magic grow stronger, Charlie pulled back from their embrace and held a finger to his lips to stall him. She reached up behind her neck, unclasped the chain of her amulet and pulled it out of her drenched black cotton T-shirt. She pressed it into his hands, hard, scared it would fade with her.
Angel gripped it securely in his hand and placed his other against her cheek, wiping her tears with his thumb.
They press their foreheads together, the shared symbol of their love… and as Charlie felt her body begin to shimmer and waver, she unfurled her wings one last time and surrounded them both, hiding them from the world. With a brave smile and a last sniff, she lifted her face to his and their eyes met, and with a whisper that faded with each word, she said her last "I love you!" and then she was gone.
Angel, on his knees drenched in the pouring rain, quietly pleaded to the emptiness where Charlie once stood, "Wait for me to come home."
