Cassie looked at her cup of tea, which had cooled while she'd been staring into it for the last hour. She had returned to her apartment in a daze and saw that Lucifer's magic had reached it. Everything was back in place, and it only made her feel more pain, reminding her that she'd never see Charlie again. A soft sound of her front door opening brought her eyes up to Angel, soaked to the core, stepping into the apartment and closing the door behind him. He fell against the door, laid his head back, and had a blank stare of loss on his face. Cassie pushed herself up from the chair and stepped around the table. Each step she took was quicker than the last until she fell into her brother's arms and pulled him into her embrace. Angel's body shook along with Cassie's as they wept in silence, together.

Lucifer sat on the edge of Charlie's bed in her room at their mansion, eyes closed, and waited quietly. He had returned here as the magic fire flared from the breaking spell and prepared to receive his daughter. In moments, there was a ripple of strong magic, and Charlie appeared out of a bright red glow of energy. Her eyes darted around the room, a look of confusion drawn across her features, and she saw Lucifer sitting on the bed.

"Dad? What happ..."

Before she finished her question, Lucifer flicked his fingers, Charlie's eyes closed, and, in a trance like state, she came to the edge of the bed. Lucifer flicked his fingers yet again, and in place of her soaked black T-shirt, red jacket, and ripped blue jeans, Charlie, now dry, wore her usual red pajamas with black and white trim. Lucifer stood, pulled back the bed sheets, and helped Charlie crawl into bed.

Once she was settled, he tucked her in and kissed her forehead. "Sleep, my princess, and dream of the world you once lived in, let the love you felt for Angel guide your destiny." He paused, and added, "And, should he ever appear before you again, remember him."

Lucifer walked over to Charlie's desk, where she loved to draw and where her earth clothes now lay, neatly folded. He noticed the tip of the picture that Angel had given her poke out of the edge of the jeans pocket as he picked them up. He pulled it out and examined it. Lucifer's smile wavered as he traced his finger along the lines of Charlie's face, saw how genuinely happy she had been, and felt regret for the decision he had to make. Lucifer tucked the photo into his breast pocket, walked to the bedroom door andlooked back at his daughter. "Welcome home, princess."

Hell - At The End of the Story

Inside the hotel, the night had grown long and sad as Angel and Charlie shared the last bit of their story with the group. The sting of opening all of those memories to the group caused him to turn his head away. The silence was as loud as a nuclear explosion as everyone looked at everyone else. They wondered who would speak first.

Charlie leaned against a pillar. Her arms were crossed over her chest, her face down with her hair draped over, hiding her tears but her shaking shoulders gave all away. Angel stood solemn, drained, and awaited whatever may be said by the group. By Vaggie.

Husker, the toughest of them all, wiped a single tear from his eyes. "Holy. Shit."

Vaggie looked stunned, but shook her head to focus and saw Charlie's stance. She wouldn't look at Vaggie, the shame of what she did the day of the executions drowning her. Vaggie turned her attention to Angel, who shared Charlie's state, and she stood. Everyone's attention turned to her. The next moment would define all of their futures and they knew it.

Vaggie walked over to Charlie and spoke too softly for anyone to hear, except for Charlie. They watched Charlie bow her head more, and Vaggie lift her hand and take hold of Charlie's chin. Vaggie pulled Charlie close and lifted on her toes, her other hand on the back of Charlie's head, and kissed her. The kiss lasted for five full seconds, and when their lips parted, Charlie broke down and sobbed into Vaggie's shoulder. They embraced for a couple of minutes while everyone sat and waited. Vaggie whispered something into Charlie's ear, and Charlie nodded, and let go of Vaggie.

The group watched Vaggie walk over to Angel. She stopped in front of him, folded her arms and cleared her throat. Angel moved his eyes to meet hers and tensed when she opened her arms and placed both hands on the side of his cheeks. Angel's eyes widened when Vaggie again lifted herself up on her toes and placed her lips against his. The kiss was far more chaste than the one she'd given Charlie, but the meaning was very clear. She held the kiss for a moment, her voice mmmmed at the taste of his lips, and then stood back. Angel blinked, and the surprise on his face amused Vaggie. Alot. "Kevin Angelus Collins. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for saving Charlie's life. Then, and now. Know without worry, that I forgive both of you for that moment on the battlefield. And if I am to be completely honest, if it had been me, I would have done the same thing."

"Vaggie?" Charlie's quivering voice whispered.

Vaggie smiled at Charlie, went to her and hugged her "It's an amazing story, Charlie. I understand why you ran to him …I am so sorry for how much it hurt to be taken from him."

Charlie sniffed, "That night killed me, Vaggie, and worst of all, I couldn't even heal properly." She glanced at her father, her eyes held a tinge of anger, but mostly just regret and Lucifer visibly shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

Angel finally spoke up, "There is something that I'm at a loss about. Something that's been bothering me since that day on the balcony in Heaven. I'd forgotten everything about Charlie, my time on Earth, just as Sera said I would. It wasn't until after I confronted Sera, voiced my discontent about how Charlie had been treated in the court, that Charlie's amulet brought my memories back. How?"

"That would be my fault." Lucifer spoke up, and all eyes turned to him, who shrugged with a smile, "The breaking spell had a little extra kick to it. You see, it was a two-fold spell, to cover a couple of possibilities. I knew you'd probably go to Heaven when you died, yet I also knew how devoted you'd be to Charlie's protection, so I pulled the memories of your time with Charlie from my mind, since I'd seen into Charlie that night, and put those memories into a ball of energy that found its way into Charlie's amulet when you returned home. If Charlie were to ever be threatened and needed you, you'd get your memories back and come for her, which is exactly what happened. When Adam made the announcement he'd be coming for the hotel directly on the next extermination, he basically threatened Charlie's life and that activated the spell."

Lucifer took a breath, and added, "The reason I wasn't here at the beginning of the battle was due to the agreement I had with heaven to not interfere with the executions, which tied my hands much to my anger. An agreement which was broken when you, an angel of Heaven itself, used your powers to call for me to come fight."

Charlie looked surprised, "You mean Angel is the reason you could step in and kick Adam's ass?"

"Yes. And I know you're angry with me, daughter, for taking you from him, but when you returned home, I whispered a promise that if you ever saw him again, either in Heaven or Hell, you'd get your memories back so you two could fall in love again." Lucifer bowed his head towards Vaggie, "Which at the time seemed an obvious decision."

"I understand." Vaggie said with a soft smile.

Lucifer waved his hand and in it appeared the photograph Angel had given to Charlie that last night, "I even kept this to return to you when it was time."

Charlie stepped to her father and accepted the photo, looked at it and her heart swelled at seeing her and Angel smiling in it. Charlie kissed Lucifer on the cheek, "Thank you, Father." She stood up, "I understand why you did everything."

She turned and walked back to lean against Vaggie and showed her the photo. Vaggie saw the love between them, and felt no jealousy at all, only saw how Charlie's life wasn't always painful or ridiculed. She brushed her finger across the photo, and smiled with Charlie. Vaggie motioned Angel over, and he tentatively moved to stand next to them. Vaggie chuckled and wrapped an arm around him, so that all three were close together. He looked at her. She exhaled, "Do not feel afraid to be near Charlie. Or me. You are a part of this family now."

Charlie bit her lip and leaned into Angel, and Vaggie's smile grew. Angel accepted the invitation and felt safe for the first time in forever.

"I do have a question?" Angel Dust spoke up for the first time.

Angel and Charlie nodded for him to go ahead, but he turned pointedly to Angel, "What happened to you and your team after Charlie left, to save the children?" Angel Dust's face softened with the additional question "How did you die?"

Charlie turned to look at Angel. Those questions had been burning in the back of her mind from the moment she saw him. Angel slowly exhaled, "I knew that, even with my team, that without Charlie we'd be overwhelmed with all the children that needed saving. I called up Amanda's boss and we shared our grief over her death and I told him what I had, and what I needed. He made sure that my team and I would have funding and we became officially deputized by the FBI and had their help. We spent the next three years on missions and we saved a lot of lives."

"Three years?" Charlie caught the tone of Angel's voice, and gripped his hand, nervous at the next words he'd speak.

Angel actually chuckled, "Wouldn't you know, though? Years in the army. Years spent rescuing children. All the time with Charlie at my side and three more years with my team out in the field, It would be cancer that did me in."

"Oh, my." This came from Niffty.

"Angel?" Charlie reached out and took his hand, gripping it.

"It's okay. I did all I could, and I guess God decided it was time to call me home. I was grateful. He accepted my faith. Also, my team had found others to join our cause and a movement was growing around the world. Funding from the Government was provided and special tasks forces were created to actively investigate every type of kidnapping. What I started, what Charlie and I fought for, would go on beyond me, and they all but ordered me to spend those last months with Cassie and live. I passed peacefully just a couple days after my thirty-eight birthday."

The room was silent.

"Vaggie? Everyone?" Angel called for their attention and to break the uncomfortable silence, "Thank you for listening and I hope I've earned your forgiveness?"

Everyone, except for Alastor, nodded in agreement and Angel bowed his head, "Then it's time for me to go."

"Go?" Charlie jerked her head at him, shocked.

Angel looked at Vaggie rather than Charlie, "I appreciate your acceptance, Vaggie, but I did not come here to get into the middle of, or break up, your relationship with Charlie. I don't belong here."

Charlie's eyes looked panicked. For a moment, she had felt like there was a chance for all of them. She knew it was selfish. She didn't know how anyone else would feel, but she had lost Angel once and now she was about to lose him again? Her heart shattered and she froze, unable to move.

"No." Vaggie shook her head firmly.

"Vaggie." Angel started but Vaggie held up a hand.

"What you two had, what it did for Charlie? I can't ignore that, deny it. It is so familiar, to how Charlie found me when I had fallen. How she helped me, saved me and how much I love her for it, how much our love has grown over the years. I know how it felt for a moment to have lost her, when I saw you two kiss, thinking she'd go back to you. But as I listened to your story, I found myself feeling the way Charlie felt. The bond you two had… have… " Vaggie paused and kissed Charlie softly. She saw the fear in her lover's eyes and gave her a look that Charlie could only hope she understood, and brushed her hair aside. She looked back at Angel. "There's power in that bond, that love, and it was love that we fought with and won, and I think we'd be even more powerful if you stayed here?"

"I don't know." Angel looked truly conflicted.

"Don't mistake what I'm asking for, though." Vaggie moved to address Angel and Charlie directly, her face serious "Charlie's my girlfriend. I love her more than anything and I won't ever give her up." With that statement, Vaggie let the serious face drop and a soft smile formed, and she looked at Angel in a way that made his heart skip, "But it doesn't mean I can't share."

"I…" Angel's breath caught in his throat. Like Charlie, his heart had sored when he'd found her, and it cracked when he realized he'd lost her again. The story, the memories that flooded back as they shared it, broke him even more. The decision to leave was not about being a good man, and not interfering, but it was pure selfishness. He could not be near Charlie, anymore, if he could not have her at all. Now, Vaggie's proposal sunk in and he did not know how to respond.

Vaggie understood the conflict, the pain mixed with hope, and she answered for him, "This is where you say yes."

Charlie turned to Angel, gripped his hand a little harder than she'd intended and echoed Vaggie, "This is where you say yes, my knight. Your princess commands you."

Angel cracked then, his throat choked up with emotion and all he could do was nod. Charlie nodded back and they stared at each other, wanting.

Vaggie rolled her eyes and laughed freely. "Just kiss already."

The room cheered as Angel finally accepted the invitation and for the first time since that night in the rain, he kissed Charlie Morningstar with all the love and devotion he'd promised her. Charlie returned it, this time with no regret and held him tight. They let themselves feel the moment but both were well aware of the audience and broke the kiss, together. Vaggie stepped up and wrapped her arms around Charlie from behind and nuzzled her, "Are you complete now, my love?"

"I'm whole, again." Charlie leaned back into her girlfriend. "But Vaggie?"

"Yes?" Vaggie felt the question before she spoke it.

"How do we?"

"Let's have that conversation in private." Vaggie chuckled.

Lucifer stood and cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "I do believe we've been an audience to more than the story we were promised. It's late. I suggest everyone retire to their rooms and get some much deserved rest."

There were murmurs of agreement from everyone. Alastor, however, had a look of discontent on his smiling face, which did not reach his eyes. Instead, one eye twitched and he faded into the floor with one whispered word, "Shit!"

Angel Dust, Husker, Niffty and Cherri Bomb all walked up to the three. Angel Dust held out a hand to Angel, who gripped it. "If you're gonna hang around here, pal, I have one request?"

Angel nodded, and Angel Dust grinned, "Pick a new name. I'm the Angel around here."

With a chuckle, Angel said, "My friends call me Kevin, remember?"

Angel Dust smiled, "Welcome home, Kevin."

Niffty looked up at Angel, titled her head and thought for a second, "I suppose I can like one good boy." She jumped up into Angel's surprised arms and kissed his cheek, "But you better be a clean boy!"

He watched her scurry off after Angel Dust and gave Charlie a quizical look,. She just smiled, "We're eighty percent sure she's harmless."

"Sixty." Vaggie quipped, "After Adam."

Husker stepped up and offered a hand, which Angel took and they shook, "Drinks on the house." Was all he said, then he walked off.

Cherri Bomb sized him up, and slapped his shoulder, "I can't wait to fight with you in battle, babe! You fucking rock!" She laughed and turned towards the rooms and stopped, "Oh, right! I don't live here!" She turned to Charlie, and smirked, "Yet."

Charlie blinked in surprise as Cherri Bomb laughed and walked out the front door. Lucifer stepped up next. Angel parted from the girls and stepped forward, and bowed his head. "Sir. I am in your debt."

"No." Lucifer shook his head. "Both our debts are paid. You have saved my little girl, twice. You sacrificed your life for the lives of others. You gave up Heaven for my baby girl. Your soul has suffered enough." Lucifer pulled Angel in and hugged him, "Welcome home, son."

Angel wept into Lucifer's shoulder. Charlie and Vaggie joined and put their arms around Angel and held him tight. Finally, Angel was home.

Minutes later, Lucifer said goodnight to the three and disappeared in a puff of red sulfur. This left Charlie, Vaggie and Angel alone for the first time. Angel remembered something and pulled from his robes the amulet that Charlie had pressed into his palm that last night in the rain. He held it out to Charlie, "I believe this belongs to you, Charlie Morningstar."

Charlie's eyes glistened as she saw it, and let him drop it into her palms. Vaggie looked at it, and whistled at its beauty, "So, that's what saved you from Samedi?"

"It is." Charlie closed her fingers around it, feeling it in her hand and smiled softly, "Thank you, Kevin."

Charlie lifted it to clasp behind her neck, and Vaggie helped her latch it. Charlie took the photo her father had returned to her from her pocket and gifted it back to Angel, "Hold onto this for us, please?"

"I will, thank you." Seeing it for the first time in forever, he cherished the look in the photo and slipped it into his robes. Angel then looked around the hotel, taking it in for the first time since they'd finished construction, and it occurred to him, "I need a room." he stated matter of factly.

Charlie had been thinking about that, though her thoughts had been trying to figure out sleeping arrangements for three, and blushed hard. "Right, your own room."

"Charlie, naughty!" Vaggie teased. Though she knew they would have a lot of talking to do with the new dynamic they were going to have.

Steam rose from Charlie's body as her embarrassment rose one hundred fold, "Vaggie!" She whined.

"And I'll need a job as well." Changing the subject for Charlie's sake, "Any ideas?"

"Security." Charlie said, and added quietly, "Strategy, like Sir Pentious did."

"I can do that." Angel smiled, "I can even provide a resume and character references, if you'd like." Giving Charlie a wink, who smiled wanly back, her heart still ached for her fallen friend. Angel knew that there was more story to tell. This time, though, he would be the audience, "Tell me about Sir Pentious. Tell me about all your friends. Tell me, " Angel took Charlie's hand and kissed it, gently, "Tell me all about your dreams, Charlie, and how this all came to be, The Hazbin Hotel."

Charlie took a breath and Vaggie motioned for all of them to sit together against the wall. She made Charlie sit in the middle and pointed to one side of her, for Angel and the other for her. They settled in and Charlie felt both of them lean into her. Her heart felt whole and her eyes glistened and she began to share the story, "Well, it all started seven months ago, when I opened the Happy Hotel for wayward sinners to find redemption. To save those who needed saving." She stopped, kissed Vaggie softly, then turned and kissed Angel and looked into his eyes, "Something I learned long ago, from a true, true Angel."

The story of Angel's Demon….

…will continue.

. . . . . Thank you. Thank you for reading Angel's Demon. Thank you for bearing my mistakes, the changes I had to make and those I will make. Thank you for sticking with me until the end. I ask only one thing, dear reader; if you feel inclined. Let me know your thoughts. Your criticisms. Your hopes for the future of Angel's Demon. There will be more. But I welcome ideas. This was never meant to become what it became. It was not until this weekend that I finally made the decision on how to end it. For months, I intended Angel to leave. I told friends he would suffer. I told myself, dont ship him with Charlie. But when I finished this story, I could not bear to punish him, anymore. For the Chaggie die-hards, you may scream at me. I deserve it. I am a Chaggie fan, too. I found muses for so many new stories. Writing Angel's Demon changed my life, for real. I spent my days watching TV and feeling depressed. Hazbin Hotel did something, gave me a world to explore, to practice writing and telling stories that others may fall in love with. And I don't want to stop. I want to see what Angel's future holds, and I plan to explore what the triad of a demon princess and two fallen angels could do. EDIT: I had meant to add something. There was no real way to write this into the story, organically, but the reason no one asks about the IT demon, is that as Angel and Charlie share the story, they do not share that detail. Their actual words to the group were spoken in a way to suggest that Charlie was bound, and broke it, all without the conflict with the demon. This was done by them to not complicate how the group would look at Charlie, as she will be discussing the subject with her father in private, with Angel, and Vaggie, at some point. It is the only 'plot hole' that I can think of at the moment, that needs to be explained outside of the story.
