"...hello to you too?"
…
…
Awkward.
"Jesus, talk about a smooth response…" Roman winced.
Neither party made to react to the other's presence, likely both too surprised to think of an appropriate response. It was… stupid really, but they had both caught each other flat-footed and now had to quickly figure out what the fuck to do.
"Perhaps not the best way to respond there," The soldier cringed internally for a second, quickly shaking the thought off in an attempt to keep his guard up and remain focused on this newly arrived individual. "Just casually greeting a mysterious android in the midst of a hostile facility full of things that can apparently kill human soldiers easily if you aren't careful might not have been the wisest choice. Maybe veer on the side of caution next time?" Roman internally scolded himself. So much for all that soldier training…
There, stood before him, was an android. Admittedly a smoking hot and beautiful one, one that was definitely his type, but one that could very easily be damaged, malfunctioning, or generally hostile with the intent to kill him, and here he was standing there with his gun in one hand and his dick in the other in awe of the facility. Completely unaware.
He'd been caught lackin', as the kids would say.
Roman had been too distracted by the revelation that there was a giant fucking hole dug through the earth that contained a facility that stretched on for who knew how long. Anything could have gotten the drop on him in that moment and killed him.
"Gotta be more careful, or else I'm gonna be the next name on the list of dead soldiers sent on this mission…" Roman thought briefly, before pushing on.
Seeing as the android before him hadn't shown any form of hostility toward him, having not moved to draw their weapon, nor respond herself, the soldier took the opportunity to lead the conversation in hopes of keeping it that way until he figured her out a bit more.
"So, since you haven't tried to kill me yet, is there something else I can help you with, miss?" Roman asked, weirdly casual, whilst slowly moving toward the terminal he had been at before.
At the same time, he kept several objectives between him and the android just in case. Whether or not that would actually help him if the android lunged at him was debatable given what they were capable of but still, the little things helped.
Maybe.
The android seemed to have broken out of her own stupor, only composing herself very slightly as she likely processed his words, yet still not moving to grab any of her weapons.
A good sign.
"Haven't tried to kill you?!" She blinked, her mouth slightly ajar in what appeared to be shock, stunned to hear him say those words. "I'd never kill a human!" The android reaffirmed firmly in such a manner that kinda made Roman want to believe her. "I've been following you trying to keep you safe, trying to protect you from the murder bots, the machines!"
Hmm.
A better sign.
…
"Wait… hold the fuck up, what was that last part?" Roman thought, pausing the conversation he was planning to have as he quickly realized what she just said. "You followed me here?" He asked pointedly.
The android, surprisingly, had the decency to flush ever so slightly upon realizing she had admitted to stalking him. The other YoRHa androids didn't seem to understand how stalker-y their behavior was when they followed him, or other humans, around but at least this android had some understanding of how that sounded. Although Roman could tell she was trying to remain composed, judging by the annoyed scowl on her face she wasn't exactly happy about her slip-up either.
But Roman quickly shoved that interaction to the side, at this point accepting the fact the androids would simply follow him around at all hours of the day if they could, "You know what, it doesn't matter. You followed me here, fine, since when? Who are you and who are you with?"
If she was with YoRHa then he was in trouble. Talking his way out of this one might prove trickier than he'd like. Explaining all this away to the Commander wasn't something he was confident he could do.
Commander White had already been pretty adamant that her soldiers could accomplish anything he required of them, so Humans didn't need to put themselves at risk. If she found out he was sneaking out of the camp alone there would be hell to pay. He'd be watched twenty-four seven.
The android seemed to hesitate for a moment, perhaps contemplating on how best to respond to the lone human in front of her.
"My name is A2 and… I'm not affiliated with anyone." The android stated simply, firmly, "I work alone. I was camped on the outskirts of the human colony, hoping to meet with the human commander in charge there." She explained, "I… have something I wish to discuss with the commander there."
…
"...what are the odds that the person she wants to meet is the person she has been following this whole time." Roman thought with a sigh. "That's just my luck." The soldier's eyes, behind his helmet, tracked toward the android. "At least she merely wants to talk and not kill me, I'll gladly talk to a beautiful android any day of the week!"
…
…moving on.
"Well, it must be your lucky day A2," Roman said, pulling the android from whatever thoughts she might have been having, "Because you're speaking with him right now." The soldier revealed as he arrived at the terminal.
The android's eyes widened ever so slightly as she stared at him.
"Surprise, I guess?" Roman said once he saw her expression.
A moment later the android seemed to compose herself fully before she huffed quietly, "And here I spent hours wondering how I'd go about meeting you only to run into you by complete chance outside the camp… Fuck my luck sometimes."
He felt that one. Kindred spirit right there.
Roman's brow raised, unsure whether to be flattered or worried that someone was so desperate to meet him.
But that also raised the question, why didn't she just come into the camp and speak to him?
"Unless she isn't allowed in the camp…" Roman thought as he took a second glance at the android's form. She did remind him of some of the other YoRHa androids he'd seen, but her appearance clearly looked worse for wear.
If she wasn't allowed to enter the camp that could mean several things, and none of them seemed good…
"Chill," Roman thought to himself, "Just wait for what she has to say. Don't jump the gun and start shit." Especially if it means fighting an android he was likely to lose against.
"Why couldn't you just come into the camp and see me?" The human soldier asked, "My tent in the camp is open to any and all who need it."
"..."
A2 didn't respond immediately, which Roman had to admit wasn't encouraging news either, but still chose to wait. Subtly, with one hand, Roman attempted to navigate the terminal's systems. Searching for any information on the facilities layout. Both on the surface level and below.
"I want to talk YoRHa, its lies and…" The android stated, halting Roman's work as he turned to look at her. "-humanity on the moon."
"Does she know?" Roman wondered in surprise for a moment.
From what Roman knew, the only people who were aware about the truth regarding humanity on the Moon were Commander White and the human population in the camp. The humans were also told, by Cid, to keep up the deception. The only reason the humans knew was so if the androids brought it up in conversation they knew how to act.
And when it came to the whole disease and cure mission he was on? That was just himself and Amora.
…as far as he knew anyway.
"I really should find out what she knows, at least for my own sake," Roman thought, "Then I'll know where I stand with her, and where I should keep my mouth shut."
Even if he really didn't have the time to be wasting.
Still, if an android needed him for something he would be there for them. The androids had been nothing but helpful, if a bit creepy at times, if he could return the favor he would.
"Well," The human soldier began, "I'm here now, right?" He smiled softly at the android, "If you want to talk, I'm all ears."
The android seemed momentarily surprised by his acceptance, not questioning her, her motives, or anything, merely taking her by her word and deciding she was worth listening to.
For once, someone was willing to listen to her.
Roman had no idea what kind of can of worms he'd just opened for himself.
/_\
Amora sighed as another android left the command tent. Grateful to have successfully solved another problem within the colony before her patience for social interactions reached its limit.
Which, let her be very clear, was fast approaching.
Amora sank into her chair, "I'm not sure who has it worse, me dealing with all these idiots or Roman having to risk life and limb in some god-forsaken hell hole…"
To many that was a tough question to answer.
To Amora, it wasn't.
"...thank fuck that's over." She thought to herself. The day might still be young but at least she had dealt with the people she disliked the most, including a certain egotistical doctor, so if anything else popped up it might turn out more pleasant.
…
"Ma'am, are you there?" A voice called out from outside the tent. Disturbing the momentary wondrous break Amora was having to herself.
Thankfully, although her break was now over, the voice was one she was familiar with. Someone she was more than willing to talk to and work with because they were so polite and obliging.
"I'm here Devola," Amora replied whilst she remained seated. "You can come in."
A second later, the red-haired android entered the tent through the flap. Immediately her eyes found Amora, a small but professional smile appeared on her face.
Unsurprisingly, her sister, Popola, followed her close behind.
"Ma'am," Devola began as she moved further into the tent alongside her sister, "Popola and I have completed our tasks for the morning, and we're happy to report no new problems arose." The red-haired android explained. "The logistics teams have reported no machine sightings, and so have not been delayed carrying supplies to and from the resistance camp. All sections of the camp seem to be fully supplied as required."
Finally, some good news!
"That's good to hear, well done." Amora responded out loud before thinking, "The more problems those two resolve the less time I have to spend with people bitching and moaning…"
The two sisters seemed pleased with her response as the two nodded their heads in acknowledgment.
"If you're done for the morning, then I might have you both assist me if that's alright with you both?" Amora asked the pair of sisters, kinda expecting the answer before they even said it.
"Of course, ma'am, we'd be happy to help!" Devola declared on behalf of the two sisters, with Popola nodding in agreement.
"Good, I appreciate it." Amora thanked the red-haired sisters. Grateful for their enthusiasm to work with her, and not against her.
Unlike one medically inclined asshole!
"But uh," Devola continued, surprising Amora slightly, "Have you by chance seen Roman anywhere?"
Amora's eyes nearly widened at the question. Her heart skipped a beat.
"Surely she hasn't noticed…?" Amora thought to herself, "Shit!" Her thoughts went to the worst-case scenario, of it being discovered Roman was missing. "Not on his first godforsaken outing?!"
This had Roman's shitty luck written all over it…
Remaining calm, however, Amora played it cool. They could just be looking for him for any number of other benign reasons. It could be a coincidence and nothing more.
"He's busy working out other problems regarding the camp, mainly security with YoRHa," Amora replied smoothly, the lie coming off rather easily. "Some of which is classified, probably." It was no secret that Roman was the leading military figure in the camp, going hand-in-hand with the YoRHa Commander herself in terms of rank.
Given she had to listen to him anyway. Commander White, the android one, simply couldn't openly override his orders for no credible reason.
It would be an easy lie to sell, that he was running security with YoRHa somewhere on or around the camp, it was a half-truth in a way. Roman was working on a security issue, so to speak, the security of the human race.
So it was kinda true!
And thankfully, the two sisters seemed to have bought it.
"Oh…" Devola responded evenly before her expression morphed into a small frown. One her sister mirrored as well nearly like for like.
Amora couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that.
"Why are you looking for him?" She decided to ask, suspicious of the twins and their reactions. Her gut instinct told her one thing she didn't want to believe, refused to, not when that numbskull was involved.
"...well, we just wanted to report our progress to him," Devola explained with a small whimsical smile on her face, "He's always so grateful and receptive to our efforts!"
"Indeed, Roman is very pleasant to talk to, very kind and caring when it comes to dealing with everyone." Popola agreed with her sister, sharing a similar expression to that of her sister.
"..." Amora's eyes flickered between the two sisters as her mind connected several long-spanning dots. Dots that she hadn't ever expected to be connected. Not in anyone's lifetime.
"No fucking way…"
"...I'll let him know you both were looking for him," Amora stated neutrally, her tone measured as to not give away her thoughts, "I'm sure he'll come looking for you both to hear your reports for himself when he gets the chance…"
In an instant, the mood swung back to a full positive one. The two sisters smiled more… joyously than before, happy to hear Roman would come looking for them.
"..." Amora remained silent for a moment, processing her thoughts before realizing she couldn't just stand there awkwardly glancing at the two. She needed to assign them their next tasks.
"Right," She began, tersely, "Well, if you're able for it, I'd like your help gathering field reports from the various sectors of the camp. The heads of each sec were tasked with reporting their progress in getting their fields up and running." Amora explained, despite her mind still coming to terms with another thought floating through her head. "It's a progress report really, like how well the construction of farmland is going or what capacity our medical facility can handle and how best to expand."
"We can gather those together for you, Ma'am," Popola agreed without hesitation, nodding her head toward her boss.
"Yeah, that won't be a problem," Devola wholeheartedly agreed, "We can even sort them for you, prioritize whichever sectors require your immediate attention if you'd like." The android offered.
"That would actually be an enormous help, thank you" Amora thanked the two androids, "Roman and I will need to plan how to develop and grow the camp going forward, and we'll need to know what our limits are."
"No worries, ma'am, we'll get it done!" Devola declared, "If that is all?"
"It is," Amora confirmed with a nod.
"We'll be back soon," Devola continued, leading the way being the first to leave the tent with Popola following shortly behind.
Amora watched as the two sisters exited the tent, quite astonished by what she'd just seen. Rightly so. If the subtle signs she was picking up were right then those two androids had an… interest, let's just say that, in Roman for some reason or another.
"...somehow you've attracted the attention of two beautiful, android, women without even realizing it Roman." Amora thought in disbelief. Unsure how or when he had the chance to do such a thing. Was it his demeanor? His words? She didn't know. Roman had no rizz to speak of, so had he done anything in the form of charming women?
…
…
"I hope you stub your toe, you lucky bastard!"
/_\
"...how many issues does this world have?" Roman couldn't help but think after hearing of A2's questions and stories. "Not only is humanity screwed if no cure is found, but the androids have been screwing each other over this whole time too?"
A2 and Roman had quite the discussion, from revealing the truth of the Moon Base and the Council of Humanity, as well as some YoRHa secrets such as the Pearl Habour Descent mission.
Roman wouldn't say he was completely shocked to hear of A2's story, he hadn't known of the history of the world since he was put into stasis. The multiple machine wars were new to him, kinda, and hearing how ruthless the commander was? It was a revelation, truly, since she had been quite amicable with him. Roman was going to question the commander about this one, that's for damn sure.
It was such a shock that at one point Roman had even stubbed his toe off the side of the terminal he was standing next to! How he managed that he didn't know.
And then came her backstory… her history… her pain.
A2's story was horrible, so much so that Roman wanted to reach out and comfort the android as best he could with a hug and reassurances, but the soldier doubted he'd do much good now. She'd likely reject his help at the moment, he was still an outsider after all even if he was a human. It truly pained him to see someone look so hurt and be so powerless to help them. Despite A2's efforts to not sound or look it, it was easy to tell that dredging through old memories had upset the android. Her wounds hadn't yet fully healed, and she had no one to help her deal with the pain either.
He silently vowed to himself that he would help her with the healing process, no matter what it cost him.
"The people, the androids, humans, and the world itself need my help…" Roman thought, the commander of the human colony had just added another heap to his plate to deal with now, "...this world is in dire need of a hero," He thought, "And it seems everyone is turning to me to be the hero."
…
Man, this world is fucked, ain't it?
"I'll need to start figuring this one out after I get back to camp," Roman thought, exasperated by yet another obstacle he would have to overcome. "And here I thought saving what's left of the human race was an important enough mission already!"
Apparently not.
But, at the end of the day, he supposed it was another tread he would have to follow up on. Roman, whether he wanted to admit it or not, was trained to be a soldier by his captors. Someone to defend the people of this world from any and all threats, and on top of that he was also the leader of said people. Meant to guide them through any crisis, and lead them to a better tomorrow.
…
So this was ultimately his responsibility, no matter how much he might already have on his plate.
"No point getting worked up over it," Roman reminded himself as he subtly glanced at the somewhat distant and solum A2, who refused to look his way, "Besides, at the very least, I owe it to A2 to help her, nobody deserves to go through what she did, especially not alone at the end of it all."
What exactly she wanted him to do about it, he wasn't sure. Whether she was telling him so he would get back at the commander on her behalf or to just make him aware of the truth, her motives were unknown.
A2 had been very detailed about her story, and the knowledge she shared, and while there was bound to be bias in her story she freely admitted it as much, through gritted teeth might he add. The assault android hadn't pretended to understand everything, only what she knew and experienced, but she had at least wanted him to know the truth.
Regardless, she was here to protect him, she explained as much, so at the very least he would speak to the Commander to rescind that kill order and remove whatever bounty was placed on A2's head.
Once he figured out a clever way to bring it up to her.
"It might not mean much," Roman began, reluctantly pulling the android's attention to him, "But I promise I will help you, A2. I'll find a way to protect you from YoRHa."
The android scowled slightly, "I don't need protection." She replied, somewhat defensively. However, there was still a softness to her tone as if she didn't want to sound too harsh when speaking to him. Likely because he was human.
"..." Roman didn't flinch under her scowl, instead he just stared at her for a moment. Perhaps she was right, maybe she didn't need his protection, but from her story, he understood there was one thing he could help her with. "I know, but you'll get it anyway. And if you still refuse it then I promise I'll find a way to free you from their sights so that they will never bother you again." He reaffirmed, "You deserve that much at least."
A2 said nothing in response, but she refused to meet his eyes, helmet, as she turned her head away from him.
"Whether you intended it or not, I'm on your side A2." Roman continued, the android in question didn't turn to meet his helmet, "You might not believe me, but trust me when I say I get how you're feeling…"
That drew the assault android's eyes his way.
"Just understand that you're not alone A2, alright?"
A2 continued to eye him up, but no words came from her either. Roman wondered what she was looking for, and why there was a sense of nostalgia in her eyes, but decided not to comment on it.
"Hmmm." A2 eventually hummed in acceptance but didn't speak on his words further, "So now you know the full story." The android began, changing the course of the conversation, "But now I have to ask, what is a human doing so far out from camp? In such hostile territory with no protection?" Her eyes narrowed suspiciously, "Did command send you out alone?"
"Ah, so that's what she's thinking…" Roman realized quickly, "It wouldn't be a stretch for her to believe that since she went through something so similar."
It would be an easy lie to sell, it was clear to Roman that A2 despised YoRHa so he could easily suggest that was the case. She'd likely believe it given her own experiences.
But honestly, the thought of lying to A2, despite only just meeting her, made him feel ill.
How could he lie to her? After she just poured out her heartbreaking story to him about her trust being broken, shattered, and losing all she had cared about because she followed the orders of others who hadn't truly cared for her all so he fully understood who he was working with.
Roman was a lot of things, an idiot being the biggest among them, and a fool a close second, but a heartless bastard wasn't one of them.
He would be better.
"I'm gonna be honest with you A2," Roman began, "What I'm doing here was meant to be kept a secret," The soldier explained, "From everyone. Even the Commander of YoRHa."
The assault android's eyes widened slightly. "You've hidden this from Command?"
"I had to." He answered her, "There is only one other person, a close friend of mine, Amora, who knows I'm here and we had planned to keep it that way if we could." The soldier glanced back to the terminal he was working at. "I'm on a very important mission, many lives are at stake, mine included."
Roman paused for a moment.
"I need you to promise me you won't share what I'm about to tell you with anyone," Roman turned fully to face his new companion, his tone as serious as it has ever been, "This has to remain a secret from as many people as possible. For now at least"
A2 didn't verbally respond, but she did grunt in acknowledgment and nodded in understanding.
"I suppose that will have to be enough," Roman thought as he swiftly recounted how he was going to explain everything for A2. It was going to leave her shell-shocked, he imagined, perhaps even eager for them to continue the mission if delays would mean human deaths. She could react in any number of ways.
But the soldier figured there was only one way for him to find out.
"Alright," Roman began, "Let's start with why I'm here."
It was time to reveal the truth.
A2 had no idea what can of worms she'd just opened for herself.
/_\
"This is bad! This is so bad!" 11B thought as she swiftly strode through the camp with as much grace as she could muster. The android was a woman on a, slightly concerning, mission right now.
And that was to find where the hell Roman was!
"We're so screwed if we can't find him!" The battle android thought, worry worming its way through her systems. "Command will have our heads if he's missing!"
It wouldn't come as a surprise, to anyone besides the humans of course, that the androids did frequently report back to Command, through their operators, about the current affairs of the camp.
While everyone knew Commander White, Roman, and Amora would be the ones to commune with each other, as they were the leaders involved from both factions, to discuss whatever classified matters they usually spoke about, the YoRHa soldiers stationed within the camp had been ordered to report back on whatever human affairs they found themselves involved in to their operators so it could be logged.
And while she had done her part when speaking to human security teams within the camp, all the original bodyguards who had been assigned to protect Roman had also been told to report on his well-being every so often.
Something 11B had discovered hadn't been done in a while…
…by any of them.
"How did we let this slip?!" The android thought with a groan, "How did we all get so distracted?!"
Well, to be fair to all of them, Roman had ordered them to assist around the camp with whatever was needed in some form or another. He'd even gone and assigned some of them specific humans to aid, but that still wasn't an excuse for none of them checking up on Roman!
He was the leader of the camp so of course he had bodyguards! Amora had her own as well! So why had they not checked in their charge in so long?!
"Where is he, where is he?!" 11B whispered quietly to herself in concern as she eyed every path and corner around her in search of her assigned protectee.
"11B?" A voice spoke up behind her. Not at all startling her! Nuh-uh! Not one bit!
The battle spun around on the spot, perhaps a bit too hastily, and came face to face with a fellow YoRHa android.
"Ah! 2B!" 11B replied as calmly as she could, hoping her unease didn't shine through her genuine, albeit fragile, smile. "How are you?"
"I'm good 11B," The sterner battle android responded smoothly, "I was just about to assist one of the security teams with patrolling the external perimeter of the camp."
"Another patrol, weren't you just on one not too long ago?" 11B questioned with a slight tilt of her head.
"I was, but we can never be too careful when it comes to protecting this camp," 2B countered swiftly, "Besides, we're patrolling alongside two other human squads so we're also there to protect them specifically."
"Seems like even 2B is distracted if she hasn't even considered checking in on Roman, that's so unlike her…" The android thought, "Humans patrolling the camp though?" 11B wondered for a moment as a thought popped into her head, "Wait, Roman could be among them! He said he was a soldier, so he could be outside the camp keeping tabs on the security situation!"
It was a possibility, one 11B had not gotten around to investigating yet. Thus far 11B had only managed to search half the camp's grounds, whilst asking if anyone had seen Roman around the command tent.
No one had, not for some time.
"By the way, 11B" 2B spoke, drawing her fellow androids back to her, "Have you by chance seen Roman around the camp?" She asked way too calmly for 11Bs liking.
11B's eyes widened slightly, "I guess she didn't forget." She thought before responding, cautiously, "I haven't, I've actually been looking for him as well…" She paused, hesitant to continue, "...I noticed nobody has reported back to command about him so I wanted to rectify that."
"We need to move on that quickly then, let's go 11B." 2B said to her fellow battle android. "We'll look for him together." No waiting for an answer, the battle took off as if expecting her comrade to follow.
She did.
Of course.
"2B," 11B began as she skipped to catch up to the ever-stern and collected battle android, "If you don't mind me saying it, while we all forgot to report back to Command about Roman, it isn't like you to forget an aspect of one of your assignments. You're usually the best of us when it comes to the mission." The battle android explained, whilst praising her at the same time, before asking, "What exactly managed to distract you from one of your missions?"
2B glanced away from 11B for a moment, which raised the brow of the second battle android.
For the briefest moment, 11B thought she saw the faintest of pink on 2B's cheeks, but that ridiculous thought was quickly pushed to the side and forgotten. There was no way 2B of all people was blushing! That would be insane!
"Besides aiding in camp patrols I was watching 9S for most of it," 2B finally admitted as she turned her head back, facing the direction the pair were heading, "Making sure he was doing his duty instead of just mingling with any humans he came across."
"Huh," 11B hummed in response, "That makes sense, 9S is quite the social butterfly." The battle android admitted, "I've heard a few of the humans in the camp have taken a liking to his outgoing and helpful personality. Seems he's becoming more popular by the minute!"
"Indeed," 2B agreed without glancing at the other android.
9S was quite the polite and helpful android, something which many of the humans liked about him. It's one of the many things she liked about the android as well.
And, unfortunately, it was becoming something a lot of the other androids liked as well.
Hence why 2B had been with 9S for most of the last few hours.
Nobody needed to know that 2B had been spending the last few hours defending 9S, under his nose of course, from a bunch of android hussys who were all over him for both his personality and his interactions with many of the humans in the camp, including Roman.
No sire, nobody needed to know that!
C10: End.
Word Count: 5,330
Alright, I think to make things easier I'll be keeping the chapters between 4k to 5k. That might help me keep these updates rolling (so to speak).
Anyway, yes, another chapter in and we've officially had A2 and Roman meet! Seems like the two had a gossip session, sharing secrets and (in A2s' case) talking shit about someone they hate.
Next chapter, we dive deeper (lol) into the facility, its features, functions, and more.
And the bullying of 11B continues, lol.
—
Review Response(s):
Gwynx: It's not abandoned, I'm just shit with consistent updates, lol.
Antex-The Legendary Zoroark: I appreciate the compliments, thanks! So, Roman and A2 have officially met, had their little gossip session (lol), and have now dragged each other into one another's problems. Lovely time all around, right? I won't speak too much regarding Commander White, as she is obviously an important character, but White does have her own idea of how things are going to go and you can expect them to be different to how Roman and Amora plan to do things.
EXCUBITORE: Thanks man!
Windruid (Guest): You'll have to wait a little longer on that front, but rest assured something in the facility killed most of them.
Guest1 (Guest): A2 was never really the one to be subtle, headstrong and straightforward to a fault. Maybe she should have been more careful, but hey, now they've officially met! As for the other bodyguards, they have other assignments within the camp (such as 9S helping the human seeker, etc) but were also told to remain in the camp to continue with their protection detail (as 11B has now explained).
Bloodgems: The base would be perfect if it didn't have as many issues as it does, including "dangerous creatures'' within. Well, how were their interactions? Good, bad, mid? White's main concerns are the machines, Roman is in charge of humanity right now so she has to place some level of trust in him to handle that. Her forces however must focus on the war, and make sure humanity isn't dragged into it. I'll let you guess how well that is going to go.
Qrious writ3r: Yesn't. This story is GTFO-inspired (as stated in the AN of chapter 1), but it isn't meant as a complete rip-off of the story. There are plenty of elements from that game but with my own ideas and twists involved.
Wellingtonlucas282: Thanks for your continued support, my friend!
Paxion: Thanks mate!
Man285: As requested, here is another chapter!
Soulbow109: I've not really seen the "human colony" thing either so I tried my hand at it. 11B is hilarious to write, even if I should be nicer to the gentle Queen (lol). As for Roman being identified, if I recall correctly it's stated in the lore somewhere that androids can identify humans on site. I'm not sure how or where it is in the lore but I've been told by others who have played the game that that is the case. Doesn't matter too much really, all that would have changed is Roman having to explain and prove he's human to the android before she freaks out as usual. Thanks for your support as well!

Chapter 10 is done, into the double digits now.
Updates for my other stories, (including Outworlder, To A New Destiny, From the Unknown, and more) should be coming soon-ish. They're in the works, I've just been busy with other matters and a serious case of writer's block for Outworlder.
Thanks again for all the views, follows, favorites, and reviews!
Till next time, best of luck!
