Appearance: Callista is a tall woman described as striking and ethereally beautiful, with a curvy physique. She has long, flowing lustrous black hair that's cascading like a silken waterfall down her back and reaching past her hips. Her eyes are brown colored, and her skin carries a pale, porcelain complexion, a reminder of her prolonged residence in the shadowy depths of Tartarus. It possesses a cool, almost ghostly quality, exuding a sense of enchanting, unearthly beauty. Callista wears a long black strapless dress that trails behind her which is split from her shoulders in a V-shape with golden bands on her arms and wrists, exposing most of her back. A belt made of intertwined chains adorns her waist.
Personality: Callista is confident in herself and independent, preferring to do things by herself. Most of the time, she is calm and analytical, and is not afraid to openly express her thoughts. She likes the thrill of battle and strong opponents, evident with how she expressed interest when she learned of Percy's skills with a sword, and eagerly thought of sparring against him. She also bonded quickly with Nico and took a liking to the kid, but did not like Bianca (mostly because of how the girl practically abandoned her brother at the first go). Callista had some small care for Bianca though, as she saved the girl from dying at the Junkyard of the Gods.
She also has a short temper in certain situations, and can get greatly frustrated. Callista is also curious about the modern world, and often asks questions about things she sees.
Fatal Flaw: Callista's fatal flaw is holding grudges. She has worked hard to lessen this as much as possible, but still has her moments. She will however never let go of her grudge against the ones that imprisoned her in Tartarus for thousands of years.
Powers:
Demigod Physiology: Like all demigods, Callista has superhuman physical attributes stronger than the average human, along with a longer than average human lifespan. As a daughter of Hades, one of the Big Three, Callista's abilities surpass those of the average demigod. She is considerably more trained in using her powers than most children of the Big Three, such as Thalia and Percy, having honed her powers from a young age and ambitiously trained. She even has more experience with some of her powers than Nico.
- ADHD: Like most demigods, Callista possesses inborn supernatural battle reflexes and senses that she uses to analyze the fighting style of her opponent.
- Dyslexia: Her brain is 'hardwired' for Ancient Greek.
- Superhuman Strength: Being a demigod daughter of Hades, one of the Big Three, Callista is considerably stronger than the average mortal and demigod. She effortlessly overpowered multiple trained soldiers in Ancient Greek, and slayed many monsters by herself. She was also able to carry her friend on her shoulder over a long distance. Thousands of years in Tartarus had not diminished her strength, easily defeating a group of monsters after escaping her prison. During the Capture the Flag game at Camp-Half Blood, Callista smashed her fist into one of Artemis Hunters with enough force to knock the unconscious.
- Superhuman Durability: Callista has immense durability, able to take immense amounts of force and damage without sustaining serious injury. She has rapidly shook off blows from other strong Demigods, and stood up within seconds from falling from several meters height. She once withstood being launched into a pillar, and stood back up shortly afterwards.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Callista possesses great speed and reflexes, honed to a razor-sharp degree. In Ancient Greek, Callista easily outpaced trained soldiers and was able to take down a group of them in only seconds. She can swing and twirl her scythe with immense speed, with Percy barely being able to see the weapons blade, and can deflect arrows with it.
- Superhuman Agility: Callista naturally possesses better agility than the average mortal, with her agility and coordination being further honed by years of training.
- Geokinesis: Callista can control the earth, blackening into and controlling the black rock of the Underworld, able to open fissures in the earth that can swallow up creatures, raise flames, trap them in the Underworld, and earth tremors, and control the black walls of the Underworld.
- Necromancy: As a daughter of Hades, Callisto has control over the dead, as well as many monsters of Hades, such as the Furies. This breaks down into different powers:
- Power Over the Undead: Callisto can reanimate skeletons, summon Skeleton Warriors, put them to sleep, and destroy them. She can summon many skeleton warriors by herself, allowing her to essentially have an army anytime she wants.
- Telepathy with the Dead: Callisto can communicate with spirits.
- Sensitivity to Death: Callisto can sense death as it happens or when it is coming; when a person close to her dies, it comes as a ringing in the ears, and also knows when a person's life is being judged in the Underworld.
- Life Aura: Callisto can sense someone's life aura.
- Umbrakinesis: Callisto has control over darkness and shadows. This breaks down into several powers:
- Shadow Travel: Callisto can use shadows as a way of transportation; having much more ease using this ability than other children of Hades. She can travel hundreds of miles at a time, and make long trips in an instant. After she escaped Tartarus, Callisto shadow-traveled about 50 miles without any problems.
- Thermokinesis: Callosto can generate extreme temperatures to the point of combustion and freezing.
- Cryokinesis (limited): Callisto can generate an aura of intense cold, able to drop the temperature to freezing. While she has learned to do it on command, it is easier when she's infuriated.
- Pyrokinesis (limited): Callista has limited control over fire, but is nonetheless skilled with the element. She can summon and manipulate flames for offensive or defensive purposes, able to shoot fireballs and beams of fire from her hands towards her enemies.
- Phobikinesis: Callista radiates an intense aura of fear and death like her father, Hades, but to a much lesser degree.
- River Styx Immunity: When she escaped Tartarus, Callisto swam in the River Styx without feeling burned.
- Soul Removal: Using her Abyssal Scythe, Callista can remove and harvest the souls of any deceased living beings, like for example mortals, other Demigods, and monsters.
- Soul Absorption & Empowerment: Every removed soul by the Abyssal Scythe is absorbed into its blade and then directly into the scythe's wielder, effectively capturing it within their being and increasing their power. This allows Callista to become more powerful with every soul she takes.
Abilities:
- Master Scythe Wielder: Callista is a proficient and masterful practitioner of scythe combat, wielding her Abyssal Scythe with extreme skill and finesse, her movements being a mesmerizing blend of fluidity and grace. She effortlessly spins and twirls the scythe, using its curved blade to its full advantage, with her strikes being both precise and devastating. She can target vital areas with uncanny accuracy, ensuring that her blows are lethal and efficient. She is equally skilled in using the Abyssal Scythe for defense. She can twirl it to easily block incoming arrows, and defend against multiple opponents.
- Adept Combatant: Even without her scythe, Callista is a highly skilled unarmed combatant. During Ancient Greek, she could easily defeat mortals and trained soldiers.
- Tactical Brilliance: Callista excels in planning and executing complex schemes and strategies, making her a formidable opponent in any conflict. She can quickly figure out how to deal with different monsters, and how to defeat other Demigods. She was most impressively able to come up with a way to stay sane while in Tartarus.
- Willpower: Callista has tremendous, seemingly indomitable willpower.
Equipment:
- Abyssal Scythe: Callista wields a scythe that was a gift from her father. Its blade is long and elegantly curved, resembling a crescent moon with a sinister edge. Forged from an otherworldly, obsidian-black metal that seems to absorb all light, giving it an unnerving, pitch-black appearance. It shimmers with an eerie, faint violet luminescence when in use, giving it an otherworldly and ethereal quality. The scythe's handle is made of a twisted, onyx-black metal that feels cool to the touch, and is adorned with intricate engravings. The grip of the scythe is wrapped in supple, midnight-black leather that provides a firm and comfortable hold. It is adorned with ornate, golden bands that serve both as decoration and reinforcement, enhancing the weapon's balance and durability. The shaft of the scythe is long and gracefully curved, extending to about twice Callista's height. It's made of the same obsidian-black metal as the blade, and it tapers towards the top, adding to the overall elegance of the weapon.
The scythe is considered one of the most dangerous weapons a Demigod can wield. By using the magic stored within the scythe, Callista can pull out the souls of her enemies into the blade and then into herself. This process is accompanied by a ghostly wail that echoes through the weapon, and the soul's essence is channeled into Callista, further empowering her. When not in use, the scythe transforms into a back ring that Callista wears on her right ring finger.
Important note: I am not a story writer so it's very unlikely that I will ever write a story with my OC character. I have an idea in my head though of how the story would look.
- Callista is locked up in Tartarus and is lost in her thoughts on how she has survived so long there without going insane by thinking about abstract concepts. Like if magic can bring eternal life? What's the highest number she could count to? How large was Tartarus? And most importantly, how many escape plans could she come up with?
- She wakes up one day and finds that Cerberus is gone and sees that as her chance to escape. The chains on her arms, old and rusty from millenia of use, break after she pulls on them for a few minutes. She goes outside her cell, walks through Tartarus, swims in the River Styx, before finally managing to escape.
- After she escapes, she encounters monsters just soon afterwards, but easily defeats them. Absorbing their souls with her scythe, before walking away.
- She understands nothing of the languages where she is since Callista only understands Ancient Greek. (Her dyslexia doesn't help things either).
- A few days later, she encounters a group of Demigods (Percy, Annabeth, Thalia) fighting a manticore, and helps them. (Things play out the same as the story afterwards. Artemis and her Hunters show up, Annabeth gets taken by the manticore, Callista and the others go to Artemis camp, and Bianca joins the Hunters).
- Callista rides in Apollo's sun chariot with the others (things play out the same with Thalia driving, and Callista is unbothered by the ride) towards Camp-Half Blood. Callista refuses to wear the camp clothes and continues to wear her own natural attire (with a lot of the males looking at her). She starts bonding with Nico, who is bitter towards his sister Bianca for joining the Hunters. Both Callista and Nico spend time together and talk.
- Callista spars with Percy and defeats him. She starts catching up on how the world has changed, and how being a Demigod in the modern world has changed from her time in Ancient Greece.
- The Capture the Flag game happens and Callista participants. She knocks one of the Hunters unconscious with a single punch, and takes out many more while commenting that they've grown weak. (Like in the story, the campers lose the game). Callista is greatly annoyed with Percy since he left the post which caused them to lose but doesn't see it worth her time to bother with him. When Percy and Thalia fight, Callista tells them to stop and Thalia responds by firing a lightning bolt at Callista which fries part of her dress. Callista gets so enraged that she ruthlessly beats Thalia and is seconds away from taking the girl's soul with her scythe but stops at the last second.
- (Events afterwards play out the same with the Oracle showing up. Then the meeting on which should go on the quest).
- Callista goes with Percy when he sneaks out of camp and they both set off.
- (Things are mostly the same as in the books, only with Callista being there with Percy with the Luke situation, the Nemean Lion, and they join the others afterwards and they set off).
- Callista is neutral towards Bianca but doesn't like the girl and mostly tries to avoid her as much as possible.
- Fast forward to the Junkyard of the Gods. (Things play out mostly the same as the book. Bianca doesn't die though as Callista saves her).
- (Things then go mostly the same with only Callista involved as the difference is involved. They reach Artemis, battle Atlas and Luke, save Artemis, Zoë dies, and they go back).
- Callista meets her father, Hades, again after thousands of years, and both are happy to see each other. When the questions come with the fact of the prophecy and that Callista is only one year away from technically turning sixteen (biologically), she reveals that she plans to leave Camp-Half Blood and travel the world.
- (Things start to really differ from cannon at this point).
- Things between Nico and Bianca escalate since they have an argument again, and Bianca leaves with the Hunters without saying goodbye. Callista and Nico grow closer together as siblings, and Nico decides to join Callista on her journey around the world. Callista thinks about it, and accepts Nico's request of joining her, deciding that it would be nice with some company.
- The months fly by as Callista travels around the world with Nico accompanying her. They visit many places, train, grow closer as family, and fight many monsters.
- Bianca enjoys being with the Hunters but misses her brothers, and starts to grow very jealous of Callista. Particularly at how Nico seems to favor Callista greatly over his own sister, and therefore starts to feel overshadowed. These dark thoughts only grow more and more inside Bianca's mind.
- While Nico helps out Percy, Annabeth, Rachel, and the others in the labyrinth, Callista is out exploring when she runs into Bianca. Callista gets tired of Bianca's jealousy and decides that she has finally had enough.
"You must be fucking joking with me Bianca! You're jealous of me, for taking your brother? Alright, here's the thing Bianca. Family is something to cherish, and responsibility to them should always come first. Yet you left your own brother to go on hunting some beasts that will just appear back from Hades a week later."
"But the camp is full of other demigods-"
"I couldn't care less if they were demigods, mortals, or fucking undead. Random strangers can never replace your family."
"I meant that he will be safe there."
"And do you know that exactly? You weren't at the camp for more than two days, you don't know how it works. Tell me, how old were the demigods you saw?"
"Well, they were…" Bianca said as her mind went back to the time spent at the camp. "Well, I mostly saw kids and teenagers."
"And do you know why that is?" Callista asked. "Simple, most of us don't even reach adulthood. Some demigods, like Luke, are exceptions but those are very rare. It was different during Ancient Greece, during the time I was born, when demigods lived to grow old and die peacefully. But that's not how it is anymore. Also, despite what many say, the purpose of the camp is clear. It isn't a safe haven for demigods, but rather a waste dump where they will eventually die by doing quests for their parents that will never accept them in their lives. Do you really think that your brother will be one of the lucky ones who live past twenty? If I was a... what do you people call it? A betting man! I would give your brother until he is between sixteen to eighteen before a monster ends him."
Bianca quickly rose from her seat and put her hands on the table, making it shake. "You can't say that!"
"I can, and I have. It's all written in history. I sincerely hoped that Nico wouldn't suffer the same fate. But now, it's too late. You go on with your precious Hunt while your brother's life is put at risk, without his sister to look out for him. Even if he doesn't die, you're immortal now, so you'll see him die anyway. That is, if you see him at all." Callisto said bluntly, taking a sip of water from her glass.
- Callisto leaves soon after, meets up with Nico, and they continue to travel.
- The final battle of Manhattan happens, and Callisto is on the frontlines, slaying monsters and absorbing their souls with her scythe.
- When it is all over, several things happen. Percy turns down godhood, Nico and Bianca finally make up with Bianca leaving the Hunt. Callisto says goodbye to the others and leaves to continue traveling, but promises that she's only a call away if they need her help.
