Date Assignment

Chapter 10

Monday came and the students returned back to the school.

Isogai and Maehara arrived to their classroom where most of their classmates were already.

"Good morning!" Isogai greeted his classmates, gaining their attention.

Kataoka, who had been sitting at her desk and talking with Okano, smiled at Isogai. "Good morning."

"Morning," replied Itona who was standing with Terasaka's gang next to Muramatsu and Yoshida's desks. "I heard that you had very boring date."

Isogai stopped and stared at Itona with surprised expression. "Excuse me?"

"Okajima told us," Itona told calmly, causing Isogai, Maehara, Kataoka and Okano glance at Okajima who was currently very focused on scrolling down his phone. However, his tense shoulders and nervous expression revealed that he knew very well what Itona was talking about.

"Should I kick him again?" Okano asked with low tone from Kataoka.

But the female class representative of Class E just shook her head.

"Well, sounds like your perfection don't extend to dates," Muramatsu commented casually.

If Muramatsu had turned his gaze in the direction of Kataoka, he would have noticed the female class representative giving him an annoyed look.

"Hey now. That was just Isogai's first date. Some more experience and then Isogai will be a dating expert like me," Maehara assured while patting Isogai's shoulder.

Isogai in other hand gave his friend polite, yet disagreeing smile.

"Isogai doesn't need you as his example," Okano informed sharply, causing Maehara frown a little.

"I'm a little disappointed too."

Isogai, Kataoka and others turned their attention in the direction of familiar voice and noticed Karma walking towards them with Nagisa, Kayano and Sugino.

"Nobody told me that the students of the main building were following you. I could had taken care of them," Karma said with bored expression.

His statement made Karma's classmates grimace.

"Karma. They were members of the Broadcasting Club. You would had got into trouble if they had caught your actions on video. Besides, you said that you were going to that comic book event in another city for that weekend because the actor from your favorite movie was there," Nagisa reminded him.

Karma shrugged his shoulders indifferently.

"Now that you mentioned those students of the main building," Isogai said thoughtfully, "I wonder what happened to them? I didn't see them anywhere when I was escorting Kataoka home. I hope that one student didn't hurt himself badly after falling from the fire escape."

"The ambulance wasn't called, so I believe that they just decided to go home," Kataoka suggested.

Nagisa, Okano and Maehara shared knowing looks but they said nothing.

Meanwhile Nakamura had got up from her desk and walked casually to Kataoka.

"So, now that you two have got a taste of dating, are you going on the second date soon?" she asked with a grin from Kataoka.

Kataoka's eyes widened while their classmates turned their gaze in their direction, most of them having curious and excited look in their eyes.

Isogai, who was just heading towards his desk, stopped and turned his widened gaze at Kataoka.

Kataoka too turned her gaze at Isogai. In the eyes of their classmates, it seemed like the class representatives were having a wordless conversation between them. Finally both class representatives turned their attention back at Nakamura.

"No, we aren't," Kataoka replied.

A surprised silence fell in the classroom.

"May I ask why?" Ritsu asked, tilting her head. "Was your date displeasing?"

"Not at all," Isogai replied quickly. "We just want to focus properly on killing Korosensei without distractions."

"Dude, we've talked about this," Maehara sighed. "You can study during the dates."

But Isogai shook his head. "Too much distractions."

"I agree with Isogai," Kataoka said. "We were able to think about some assassination ideas but not as much as we would have got when making plans with the rest of you. That's why we think that it's better that we'll focus properly on Korosensei's assassination."

"We're grateful about your concern about our mental health but killing Korosensei and saving the world are currently the top priority," Isogai announced.

The rest of Class E students exchanged looks. Most of them were smiling, some of them seemed a little disappointed, but the atmosphere of the class told that everybody agreed with each others.

"You two are so boring," Nakamura sighed with a playful smile. "But I was actually expecting something like this from you two."

Pleased with the result of the conversation, Isogai walked to his desk and sat down. He then glanced at Kataoka and smiled.

"I had fun time with Kataoka. It's so easy to be with her and she was so nice to my siblings," Isogai thought to himself.

"What's this? Can't get your eyes off Kataoka now?" Maehara, who had stopped next to Isogai's desk, asked with a teasing smile.

Isogai sighed before he focused his attention at his friend.

Isogai hadn't noticed that Kataoka had glanced in his direction too but she had quickly turned her gaze back at Okano.

"Isogai was as gentlemanly as he's in the school and work but it was also nice to see that he knows how to relax. And that what he said to me in front of that clothing store was… very sweet," Kataoka thought herself with a smile while listening Okano talking.

Unbeknownst to both of them, the both Class E representatives were thinking at the same time: "It would be nice go on the date together again… if we manage to kill Korosensei before we graduate."

After the school day had ended, the students of the Kunugigaoka Junior High School's main building went to their club acitivities.

Toriba, Tsunoguchi and Murasai were walking down the hallway towards the clubroom of the Broadcasting Club.

"I can't believe you actually sent that edited video to Araki," Murasai sighed. "What were you planning to do if he learns the truth?"

Toriba rolled his eyes. "It doesn't matter. The most important thing is that we gave him the material we promised," he announced with a dismissive tone as the trio arrived to the door of the clubroom. Toriba opened the door and entered with Tsunoguchi and Murasai.

The clubroom was full of students going through the materials and preparing them for publication. Toriba looked around until he noticed Araki standing next his table and giving orders to another club member. Confidentally Toriba walked towards Araki, followed by Tsunoguchi and Murasai.

"Hi, Araki," Toriba greeted the student of Class A as they stopped next to him.

Araki turned his attention at them and stared them with annoyed expression. "Oh, it's you."

Tsunoguchi and Murasai glanced at each others. This didn't seem good.

Toriba in other hand didn't notice Araki's attitude at all.

"So. What did you like about the video? Pretty good, wasn't it?" he asked with a self-satisfied smile.

Araki crossed his arms over his chest. "Well if the purpose of your video was to show what idiots you students of Class D and C are, then yes. It was pretty good," he snorted.

Toriba, Tsunoguchi and Murasai stared at Araki with widened eyes. The other members of Broadcasting Club had paused their working in order to observe the situation.

"What the he-?" Tsunoguchi snapped before she glared at Toriba. "What kind of video you sent to Araki?"

"The video where the representatives of Class E are misbehaving, of course!" Toriba replied sharply. He then turned his attention back at Araki. "What was wrong with that video?"

"Look it for yourselves," Araki said as he turned his laptop on the table around towards the trio. He opened his email account, searched the email Toriba had sent and started the video.

The video started with a scene where Murasai was climbing on top of the library's shelf. He moved around there for a moment until Tsunoguchi's voice warned him about the approaching librarian. Murasai was going to descent from the shelf but when his foot didn't feel the ladder he had used for climbing he began searching it with his gaze. When the librarian helped Murasai down, the video stopped, turned black and white and a bold, red text appeared at the bottom of the video: "Don't climb on the library shelves! You may fall and hurt yourself. It will also set a bad example for younger people, resulting increase in distruptive behavior and accidents. If you're looking for something and you can't find it, you can always ask help from the librarian or from library's website".

The next scene showed Tsunoguchi entering the movie theater among other people. After the door of the theater was closed, the video cut to that point where Tsunoguchi was screaming while running out from the theater. Once again the video stopped and another text appeared at the bottom: "Avoid noisy behavior in the movie theater! Other people want to enjoy the movie and any noisy and reckless behavior will disturb their movie experience. If you don't like the movie, leave the theater quietly and quickly. Before going to watch the movie, check the website what kind of movie it's going to be."

Then there was the scene where Toriba was climbing the fire escape. He looked in through the windows and when he had got to the window of the apartment of Isogai's family, his expression changed from victorious to disappointed. Then Toriba was startled, lost his grip from the ladder and fell into the bio waste trash bin. Before the video ended the earlier effect happened again and the last text appeared at the bottom: "Don't film others without permission nor peep them through the windows! It's a crime and it will be reported to the police. Peeping will both invade privacy and cause a feeling of insecurity and anxiousness which can escalate into something horrible. Let's rescept other people's privacy and the boundaries they have set".

Araki turned his attention back at the trio who had been watching the video with eyes wide and mouth agape.

"You said that you were going to bring me scandalous material about the representatives of Class E but I didn't see them anywhere. I only saw three idiots who couldn't take care of the job they were tasked with," Araki stated.

Other members of the club were smirking at the trio. Some of them were even snickering.

"B-but… But…" Toriba stammered. "I didn't send that video!"

"That's weird. It was attached to the email you had sent," Araki noted sarcastically.

Toriba's face contorted in anger. "Just you wait! I have the real video on my laptop!" he announced as he swung his school bag from his shoulder.

Toriba took his laptop out from his school bag and placed it on the table. After he had opened his laptop he searched for the video. He found the video almost immediately and started it but, to Toriba's confusion, it was the same video Araki had showed them. Frowning, Toriba closed the video and continued searching for his edited video.

But no matter how thoroughly Toriba searched for the video, he couldn't find it anywhere.

"Well?" Araki asked impatiently. "Do you have the video or not?"

Toriba went through his laptop's files one more time, looking more and more incredulous. "But… I saved it on my laptop!" he exclaimed finally.

Araki snorted. "It isn't my fault if you have lost your video."

"Hold on! Hold on!" Toriba gasped before he turned his attention at Tsunoguchi. "Tsunoguchi! You still have the original material in your video camera, don't you?"

Tsunoguchi grimaced with guilty expression. "No… I deleted it because I thought that it wasn't needed anymore."

Toriba's shoulders slumbed and Murasai gave him a sympathetic look.

"Enough with the drama!" Araki snapped, causing Toriba and others to jump. "You three obiviously don't know how to take care of task like this, so you can be sure that these kind of jobs are no longer left for you to handle. Now be finally useful and get back to work!"

"Y-yes!" the trio replied hastily before hurrying to their fellow club members.

Although working like under the fire, Toriba couldn't stop thinking what had happened.

"I don't get it. What happened to my video? And what was that video Araki received? Nobody filmed it. What the heck happened?!" Toriba wondered in his mind while carrying the material another member of the Broadcasting Club had ordered.

Naturally none of the club member noticed a flash of yellow in the window of the clubroom nor heard a faint "nurufufufu".

The End
