Chapter 2
After the bathroom explosion. Annabeth took Ritsuki with her to accompany Percy around the camp. Ritsuki initially refuses because he still wants to laze around in Thalia's tree. But the blonde girl kept pushing him. Ritsuki had no other choice but to follow the girl.
As they walked through the campsite, some people didn't stop to point and whisper about Percy. Percy, is an anomaly, a boy who doesn't know who his parents are who kills Minotaurs without any training.
Even though Ritsuki had also killed a Hellhound and a Cyclop on the first day he met Annabeth and her friends, it was different from Percy because Ritsuki had received training in swordsmanship, archery and charm paper magic. But Percy had no training at all. This makes Ritsuki wonder Who is his father?
Ritsuki: *Inner* Is it Poseidon... but no, he's under oath, so who else? Nothing really fits the description even though he has the traits of some Olympians, he doesn't fit the full description. The best guess I can come up with is Hecate but she's a woman, could it be Triton?
While Ritsuki continued to drift in thought, they continued their journey with Annabeth showing Percy the entire camp from the training area to the workshop.
Finally we returned to the canoe lake which leads back to the cabin.
Annabeth: I have training to do. Dinner at seven thirty, follow your cabin to the dining hall and follow Rikki's directions.
Ritsuki: Don't call me Rikki! My name is Ritsuki! RI-TSU-KI!
Annabeth: But it's easier to call you Rikki.
Ritsuki: Whatever you say Owl Brain.
Annabeth: Don't call me Owl Brain, you're Trick Arrow!
Ritsuki ignored Annabeth as he stood near Percy who looked into the water and Ritsuki looked at the blushing waterites. Ritsuki just had a disgusted expression while Percy peeked over his shoulder and Ritsuki smiled in amusement knowing he probably looked surprised.
Annabeth: Don't encourage them, the naiads are bad teases.
Ritsuki: Yes, they're disgusting!
Percy: Naiads.
Percy: *Inner* So this is how my life is
Now?
Percy: I want to go home.
Ritsuki: I know that feeling, when I first arrived here, I wanted nothing more than to return to the humble Shrine where my father and I lived where we lived, trained and slept there. But now It's your home now, it's the only safe place for freaks like us.
Ritsuki said the last part in a cold and bitter tone that made Percy wince a little when he heard it, but Annabeth was used to Ritsuki acting like that.
Annabeth: He's right, people like us don't have many other places to go, we don't have a normal life waiting outside these borders.
Percy: Mentally disturbed kids?
Ritsuki: Well, half blood, half human, half something.
Percy: Half human, half what?
Ritsuki: You ask a lot of questions huh, haven't you noticed, Percy.
Annabeth stepped forward between the two boys while making eye contact with Percy.
Annabeth: God, demigod.
Ritsuki just yawned listening to what Annabeth said without the slightest interest.
Annabeth: Your father isn't dead, Percy, he's an Olympian.
Percy: That... that's crazy.
Ritsuki: Really? Are you stupid? You are really looking at a naiad.
Annabeth: And what's the most common thing they do in old stories? They fall in love with humans and have children with them. Do you think they have changed their habits after several millennia?
Percy: But that's just-
Percy was silent for a moment then spoke again.
Percy: But if all the kids here are demigods-
Ritsuki: Demi-god, that's the official term, or half-blood.
Percy: Who is your father then?
Percy asked Annabeth seeming to avoid as much conversation as possible with Ritsuki. But Percy's question made Annabeth stiffen.
Annabeth: My father is a professor at West Point.
Annabeth said while looking down slightly.
Annabeth: I haven't seen him since I was a kid, he teaches history.
Percy: So he's human?
Annabeth: What? Only men can make children? How sexist is that?!
Ritsuki chuckled amusedly at what Annabeth said
Percy: Who is your mother then?
Annabeth: Cabin six.
Percy: And that is?
Annabeth straightened herself as if she were a soldier on duty.
Annnabeth: Athena goddess of wisdom and battle.
Percy: What about you, Rits... Risu... Aaaahhh! Your name is so hard to pronounce!
Annabeth: I told you, right? If your name is very difficult to pronounce. Just call him Rikki.
Ritsuki sighed accepting his fate. He really likes the name Ritsuki which literally means "Frozen Moon" but it seems difficult for westerners to pronounce.
Ritsuki: Well... call me whatever you like.
Percy: So... who is your father?
Ritsuki: My father was just a simple Shinto priest in Tokyo, Japan.
Ritsuki said with his head bowed. It was painful to think back to his father.
Percy: And your mother?
Ritsuki: A nameless loser who got pregnant with my father when he was 16 and didn't care enough to not claim me.
Ritsuki said bitterly, making Percy look at him with a sympathetic look.
Annabeth: Don't talk about Olympians like that so they can listen.
Ritsuki: That's good then. Hey, why don't you hurry up and claim me?!
Ritsuki said while looking up at the sky. At this point he wondered if he really wanted to know who she was? What's the point? His mother clearly showed that she didn't want him either.
Percy: What about me?
Ritsuki: Not yet determined like me.
Ritsuki patted Percy on the back, smiling slightly.
Ritsuki: No one knows who your father is, but hey, maybe he'll claim you soon.
Percy: Except my mom, she knows.
Ritsuki and Annabeth exchanged glances.
Annabeth: Maybe not Percy, they don't always reveal their identity to humans.
Percy: My dad would definitely tell her, he loves her.
Annabeth looked at Ritsuki carefully while glancing at Percy who was looking at him like he was crazy.
Annabeth: Maybe he sent it, and maybe he will send a sign, that's the only way to know for sure. He must send you a sign declaring you his son. Sometimes that happens.
Percy: And sometimes not?
Annabeth: They're busy. They have lots of kids and sometimes they don't... well, sometimes they don't care about us, they act as if we don't exist.
Ritsuki: Case in point, me.
Ritsuki said bitterly before sighing once again.
Percy: Wait, so I'm trapped here?
Just that? For the rest of my life?
Ritsuki: Depends.
Annabeth: Yes, Some campers only stay for the summer. If you are a child of Aphrodite or Demeter, you may not be a powerful force. The monsters might ignore you so you can get by with a few months of training and live in the mortal world for the rest of the year.
Annabeth: I have to get a mission.
Annabeth's words caught Ritsuki's attention.
Ritsuki: You're so obsessed with missions.
Annabeth: And you did nothing but be alone and laze around in the woods.
Ritsuki rolled his eyes at the fact that Annabeth said. It's true that Ritsuki isn't too interested in missions and usually only does them if he has to. He is also somewhat anti-social, preferring to spend his time alone and lazing in the woods with wild animals and wood elves rather than with other demi-gods.
Annabeth: See you later.
Annabeth muttered, while Ritsuki reluctantly just dragged Percy towards the Hermes cabin. Back at the cabin, everyone plays around waiting for dinner.
Ritsuki: *Inner* Nice weather for a nap. I want to take a nap in the forest.
Ritsuki thought ignoring the people talking about Percy's water attack, and looking for a way he could leave Percy and go take a nap in the forest.
Not long after, Ritsuki saw a tall young man with an athletic and muscular body. He has short-cropped sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, sharp nose. He is Luke Castellan.
Ritsuki grinned at Luke as he finally got to dump Percy to go take a nap in the forest.
Ritsuki: I'll go, the guy over there is Luke, just ask him for help.
After saying that Ritsuki then ran with a smile into the forest to take a nap.
After a good nap Ritsuki arrived at the dining room, everyone filled their respective tables waiting for dinner to start. Finally Chiron stomped his foot while saying whatever he usually did when Ritsuki of course wasn't paying attention.
Ritsuki raised his glass thinking about what he should drink today.
Ritsuki: Ramune.
Ritsuki spoke into the cup before seeing it fill.
Ritsuki turned to Percy who noticed he was filling his plate with food.
Ritsuki: Hey, give it to me, and don't eat it yet.
Percy nodded slightly confused at the last part before pushing the tray into Ritsuki's hands. After Ritsuki filled his plate to his liking, Ritsuki got up and motioned for Percy to do the same. Once they reached the fireplace, Ritsuki threw away some of his food while thanking Hermes as usual.
Ritsuki: And while we're at it, why don't you claim me, Mother?
Then the smoke entered Ritsuki's nose, the smoke did not smell disgusting.
After we finished eating, Mr. D welcomed Percy and also told everyone that Capture the Flag was Friday which elicited unpleasant cheers from the Ares table.
But Ritsuki wasn't too excited about this. This activity was too much trouble for a lazy person like Ritsuki
In the days leading up to Friday, Ritsuki did his normal routine.
Chiron actually asked Ritsuki to teach Percy archery, but Ritsuki refused because it was too much trouble for him.
It was quite boring to be honest, but Ritsuki liked that peaceful boredom.
And finally Friday is here. Everyone started preparing to capture the flag.
Every camper gathered just outside the forest. Chiron stood in front of everyone and stood on a pedestal that made him even taller and taller
said.
Chiron: Attention heroes!
He shouted over all the small talk that could be heard among the campers.
Chiron: The blue team led by Annabeth from cabin 6, has allied with cabin 7 and cabin 11. The red team led by Clarisse from cabin 5 has allied with the other cabins. Ares was the champion who last captured the flag. You all know the rules. The river is out of bounds, no maiming or killing is allowed, all magic items are allowed.
Chiron shouted as he had all the campers ready by his side.
Once our flags were up, Annabeth laid out her plan.
Annabeth: Luke, you and I will turn right. Rikki, you will be a sharpshooter and Percy?
She said looking for Percy. The boy made his way through the crowd and he turned to us.
Annabeth: You guard the river there.
She pointed at the river that cut through the forest. Annabeth shared the next instructions with everyone.
Ritsuki then took out several simple sheets of paper with kanji Shikigami (式身, Shikigami). Ritsuki then made several hand seals and then turned into a faceless humanoid doll. (A/N: Like Shikigami in Kekkaishi Anime)
Percy: W-what did you just do? And what creatures they are.
Percy asked as he watched Ritsuki pet some of the paper dolls.
Ritsuki: Shikigami, a familiar used by practitioners of ancient Japanese are commonly used as clones, messengers, and workers. But more skilled users can summon very powerful Shikigami. For now they can give us information about their movements.
Percy: That's amazing! You need to do that more.
Ritsuki: That's later.
Ritsuki ordered the Shikigami who saluted him then walked away
Annabeth: Blue team forward!
Annabeth shouted making her team cheer as they followed the girl down the path towards the southern woods.
Ritsuki: Annabeth!
Ritsuki called out to the gray eyed girl making her glance at Ritsuki.
Annabeth: What?
Ritsuki: What are you planning to do with Percy?
Annabeth: What do you mean?
Ritsuki: I may be lazy but I'm not stupid, Annabeth.
Annabeth just remained silent without answering which made Ritsuki sigh in annoyance.
Ritsuki: You really think he's the person in the prophecy, huh?
Ritsuki said when it was just the two of them
Annabeth pushed her hair away from her face.
Annabeth: I don't know, Rikki, I don't know anymore; I expected someone, you know... heroic. Not him.
Ritsuki: On his first night, he witnessed his mother being kidnapped, then he killed the Minotaur. I think he's heroic.
Annabeth: He still drools in his sleep.
Ritsuki just giggled at what Annabeth said.
Ritsuki: *Inner* I have a feeling, something troublesome will happen in the future.

Dear readers English is not my first language. So the grammar may not be the best but I will try my best. I don't own Percy Jackson and the Olympians. This story is just a fanfic and there are some characters made by the author that have nothing to do with the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
