Moxxie shut his eyes and braced himself for the pain he's going to feel before suffering a gruesome fate that's worse than death, as he cringed at the foul smell of the ghoul as its teeth inched closer to his neck.
'WHAM!'
Suddenly, a foot hit the side of the head, sending the ghoul rolling away from the imp.
When he felt the weight over him disappear all of a sudden, Moxxie opened his eyes and to his surprise he saw Tristan standing over him after kicking the ghoul. The young man stepped closer to the ghoul and raised a foot before slamming it down on its head with the sole of his shoe. A vicious cracking sound was heard as the ghoul's eyeball popped out of the socket, but Tristan wasn't done and stomped the head one more time, crushing the ghoul's skull into a bloody pulp and painting the floor with its brains.
Moxxie's eyes widened at the brutal scene, only to shield himself with his arm before the blood would splatter over him. After that, he looked back at Tristan, as the human returned his gaze without flinching when he got some blood on his face. Before the imp could utter a word, Tristan approached him and gripped the collar of his suit, pulling Moxxie towards him so the little imp could look into his hardened eyes.
"Don't just sit there! Move your fecking ass!" He shouted as he picked the shotgun Moxxie dropped.
"Whoa!" Moxxie yelped when Tristan carried him up with his arm around his waist and took off, as they passed by Blitzø and Millie, who were both stunned for a moment before they followed him.
Once they were now steps away from the exit, Tristan didn't hesitate to throw Moxxie, sending him rolling over the floor and out of the library before crashing his back into the wall. Tristan then stopped and turned around to fire his shotgun at the ghouls until Blitzø and Millie were next to escape. After blowing the chest of another ghoul, Tristan was the last to get through the door and slammed it close.
"Are you okay, Moxxie?" Millie cried out with concern as she came to check her husband.
Moxxie groaned while rubbing his back after crashing against the wall. "Ugh… Y-Yeah, I'm not bitten." He reassured her while Milled helped him to get back to his feet. Moxxie then looked up at the human who saved him, which still came as a shock to him because no one had ever imagined a human would save a demon.
"Yeah, that's great and all, but next time stop showing off like a jackass, would you?" The boss scolded the little imp, snatching the shotgun from Tristan and threw it back to Moxxie. "Now where the fuck are we supposed to go without getting ambushed by fucking ghouls?" Blitzø shot an exasperated glare at Tristan.
The young monster hunter looked at his phone to check the map, but suddenly he blinked in mild surprise before he raised his gaze towards the door at the far end of the hallway. "The priest's office is right ahead." He pointed it with his finger.
They didn't waste a valuable second to rush towards the door as Blitzø kicked it open and everyone barged in with their weapons ready, expecting to find the priest inside. Unfortunately, they found no one in the office and it seemed like it was empty.
"Oh, he's not here." Millie said with a look of disappointment.
"You think he got away?" Moxxie asked, increasingly worried that they failed the mission and the priest escaped amidst the chaos happening.
"And run off out of here in the middle of nowhere? I don't think so." Tristan replied with a scoff.
Blitzø waved his hand before the human would point out the obvious. "Yeah, yeah, he might be in a secret room, we get it. But tell me, genius, if you're right about it, then how the hell are we gonna find that in a big fucking place like this?" He stared quizzically at Tristan.
"Well, I'm not an expert, but have you played detective board games before? Let's say he must be hiding some information that could tell us where we could find. So this room should be the right place to look for some clues." The young hunter said as he paced around the office.
"Oh, so now this is the part where we're gonna play detectives. Fine, whatever. M&M, let's turn it upside down!" Blitzø shouted and the group began to search every corner of the office. He started by heading towards a bookcase and threw the books out of the shelves, hoping to find some sort of secret switch.
Meanwhile, Millie hopped on a cabinet and checked behind the diplomas and pictures off the wall to find a possible hidden safe, while Moxxie was looking through the files from the drawers for something that could contain the secrets of the building. As for Tristan, he went to inspect the priest's desk where he found some pictures of the priest - who appeared to be a bald middle-aged man and wearing the traditional clerical clothing - was standing with the Christians. There was another picture that showed the opening of the hospital they remodeled.
Focusing back on the desk, Tristan opened all the drawers to find something useful, but when he was about to open the last drawer on the top left, it didn't budge. "Oi, anyone has something that could open a locked drawer?"
"Here, try this!" Millie held the dagger by the blade and threw it at Tristan.
He reached with his hand out to catch the handle. "Thanks."
Tristan then slid the blade into the drawer and forced it open with it, making some splinters fly around after breaking the lock. After that, he slid it open and rummaged a bundle of letters and documents inside, but none of them seemed to have any useful information. That was until he found under the pile of letters a red book made of leather. Feeling his curiosity growing, Tristan picked up the notebook and leafed through the pages, each of them written by date. He stopped at a page that was written two years after the priest and the Christians reopened the hospital, and then hummed with an intriguing expression.
"You found something?" Moxxie asked as he noticed the human reading the red book.
The young man remained silent for a moment as he turned a few more pages, while Millie and Blitzø also stopped searching and looked at him to ask the same thing. He read an entry that was written about two weeks ago as his brows furrowed deep, until he raised his gaze away from the book to look at the imps.
"Wanna take a look?" Tristan asked as he handed the priest's journal to Blitzø.
The imp with big horns raised an eyebrow at him until he grabbed the book and read the same page. At first he seemed reluctant, but then he blinked as he was reading the next page and the realization hit him. Once he had seen enough, he looked back at Tristan while shutting the book. "Hmm, guess you are not really useless as I thought." Blitzø said with a blank expression and threw the book back to him.
"Sir?" Moxxie titled his head, asking for details to the boss.
"Apparently, our target is hiding underground as the rookie suggested, and to get there we have to use an elevator they have on the basement level." Blitzø replied as he was finishing reloading his flintlock pistol.
"You're sure the priest would be down there?" Millie asked while glancing at the human.
"He has to be, but we might need someone who can help us find him quickly before the bugger tries to escape." Tristan said while scrubbing his chin thoughtfully, until he turned his gaze at Blitzø. "Say, you think your sweet goth princess could help us?"
Blitzø's eyes widened at the suggestion that he found it outrageous. "Oh no! No! Nooo-ho-ho! N-fucking-O! There's no way I'm gonna put my Loonie in danger!" The imp protested, slamming his foot on the floor. "And don't you dare call her 'sweet goth princess', 'cause I'm the only one who gets to call her!
"And I don't think she's gonna answer our call after he hung up on her, right after his phone rang at the worst possible time." Moxxie said while giving Blitzø a critical look for not putting his phone on silent from the beginning.
"Oh, bite me, limp-dick! We can find our target on our own like we always have. Besides, we're just dealing with a bunch of slow-ass zombies. How hard could it be this time?" Blitzø insisted with a nonchalant shrug.
'BANG'
A bullet whizzed past Blitzø's face that made him freeze as if he barely reacted to what just happened. Everyone turned their heads to look out the door where the gunshot came from and saw more ghouls approaching, but one of them was literally holding a handgun and fired another round.
Tristan and the imps ducked their heads before the bullet would hit them and rushed to cover themselves behind the walls. "Do I need to remind you we're dealing with fecking ghouls? And by the way, they're not as dumb as you think they are because you can see they know how to hold a bloody gun!" He retorted as he took a peek, only to pull himself back when a bullet almost grazed him.
"Seriously, what is the real difference aside from that? They can still be killed, right?" Blitzø aimed his sniper rifle and put a hole in the head of the shooter, before turning back at Tristan. "Look, you want us to get the job done? Then act like a fucking supervisor and help us deal with these freaks!"
Tristan bit his bottom lip, starting to lose his patience with the imp's arrogance and his constant hostility towards him. While it hasn't been long since they started off on the wrong foot, Blitzø should be at least appreciated after he just saved one of his employee's life from turning into one of them.
With an exasperated sigh, Tristan pulled his bayonets out of his jacket and brandished them before the imps. He noticed Blitzø's glare when he recognized the same blades that inflicted him a lot of pain.
"Relax, I'm not gonna cut you again." Tristan snorted at the imp's reaction.
Blitzø only gritted his teeth disdainfully as he switched his rifle to auto-firing mode, and then he moved out of the wall before shooting at the ghouls that were closing in. "Come on, M&M! We still have work to do!"
As soon Blitzø got out of the office, Moxxie jumped out and aimed his shotgun at the other ghoul, blowing its arm off before the reanimated corpse would shoot the gun. Millie then jumped over her husband and threw her axe into the ghoul's head, killing the undead creature instantly as it slumped down to the floor.
The two remaining ghouls aimed their weapons at the imps, but before they could pull the trigger, their heads suddenly flew off the shoulders when Tristan rushed forward and swung his bayonets to their necks. After that, Tristan whipped the blades to remove the blood as the headless corpses collapsed behind him.
"I think that's all of them, at least for now." Moxxie said as he looked around to make sure no more ghouls were seen roaming around.
"You know, something's bothering me. Do they really have to start an outbreak just to get rid of a bunch of intruders like us?" Millie asked as she retrieved her axe.
"Guess we made them lose their balls to do something stupid." Blitzø snorted as he kicked a ghoul's head like a soccer ball.
"That or maybe they're trying to stop us from digging around." Tristan replied as he took out his phone to look at the map of the hospital. "Alright, the basement is right below us, we just need to go back down to the first floor and find the stairs."
Tristan led the imps across the hallways, making sure they could avoid more encounters with the ghouls as more groans and moans could be heard. By the time they reached the end of the hall, they found the stairs and used them to get back to the ground floor. According to the map, they found themselves in the administration block, and the basement should be nearby.
The young human and the imps suddenly stopped their tracks as they were about to pass the corridor when they found another group of ghouls huddled together, eating the corpse of an unlucky nurse who probably got caught by them. The ghouls didn't seem aware of the intruders watching as they were busy enjoying their evening snack.
Taking the advantage of that, Tristan and the others passed quietly and continued sneaking across the block. As they turned around the corner, Tristan checked the map and saw the entrance to the basement was on the next door. "Through here." He said in a low tone as he pushed the doors open and motioned the imps to get inside. Soon after that, he followed them in and closed the door before locking it.
"Ugh, I can't see shit! Where's the lights?" Blitzø said in the darkness as he pinched his nose. Looking around, he found the switch next to him and flipped it with his finger to turn on the lights.
A light bulb flickered briefly before the lights were fully on, revealing to be a desolated, damp room with brick walls, little painted that had been deteriorated for years. It appeared to be more like the morgue when they spotted the freezers and the autopsy table sitting in the middle. However, there wasn't any sign of an elevator around here, which raised more questions for the group.
"Alright, so where's the elevator?" Moxxie asked, slightly tensed to be standing in a place where they keep the dead bodies, which he found kinda ironic considering the circumstances.
"Ugh I don't know, maybe it's hidden somewhere around this room, like some kind of puzzle? I can't believe I'm saying this…" Tristan replied, genuinely confused as he looked at the map again.
"Oh for the love of… Now we have to solve a game puzzle? What kind of a sick joke is this!" Blitzø groaned loudly, rubbing his temples as he felt a headache coming. "Okay, let me guess, do we have to find a piece of brick sticking out of the wall? Wait, I got a lucky guess, what if there's a secret button somewhere?"
"Oh! That's not a bad idea, let me check!" Millie said and she looked under the autopsy table to find a hidden switch.
Moxxie sighed when his wife failed to catch the sarcasm. "Honey, our boss was just kidding. I don't think there's a hidden button that could-" He trailed off when Millie suddenly gasped.
"Found it!" She exclaimed before pressing something under the table. The floor began to shake and then began to sink into the ground, much to everyone's surprise before realizing that this whole room was the elevator.
"Ha! Way to go, Mills! You see that, Mox? That's how you should do your job instead of bitching all the time." Blitzø laughed and looked at the dumbfounded expression from Moxxie. The little imp opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out and instead he let out a sigh of resignation. "Now get ready, gang. We're probably getting deep into this pile of shit."
"And we might run up into more of these cult shitheads down here, so make sure you still have enough bullets for that." Tristan said as he changed his equipment by sheathing one of his bayonets and pulling out one of his M9 Berettas.
"Don't worry about it, rookie. We're always more than prepared for this. In fact, I'm saving this to put a cap between the eyes of their guru piece of shit." Blitzø smirked as he held the flintlock pistol, cocking the hammer to seal the promise he just declared.
While everyone was standing around and waiting for their stop, Tristan looked up to see how far they were descending. He wondered if this was the same mechanism the Nazis were using to take the patients for experiments. One could only imagine what kind of atrocities they and the cult have committed and if they're still hidden underground.
"Hey, I just remembered something you said earlier." Moxxie said, breaking Tristan's train of thought as he looked at him. "You said that the ghouls come from non-virgin humans who have been killed by a vampire. Are you thinking that there's a vampire with them?"
"Are you fucking serious, Moxxie?" Blitzø raised an eyebrow at the small imp.
"Wait, I also wanna know!" Millie interjected, willing to hear the human's opinion.
However, Tristan began to chuckle that made the imps look at him in puzzlement. "Sorry, sorry, that is actually a good question. But here's something I learned a lot from these blood-sucking bastards. They always think they're the top shite of the world, so working with humans sounds like an unstable relationship." He waved his hand as he continued. "Now, I thought about that possibility moments ago, don't get me wrong, but let's be real for a minute. A vampire, working with Christians? A Christian vampire?"
"That sounds pretty fucking stupid when you just said it." Blitzø snorted, finding that suggestion more ridiculous to even hear it.
Moxxie nodded with his head in agreement as he thought more about it. "Yeah, you're right, that doesn't even make any sense."
"Well, whatever is going on, I just hope we won't run up into more of these nasty ghouls. They really stink even after they're dead." Millie said with a disgusted look as she flicked a piece of ghoul's brain that was stuck in her shoulder.
The elevator suddenly stopped moving from going down when it reached the bottom, and the group gazed upon an hermetic armored door sliding open automatically. Behind those doors was a tunnel that looked more like a bunker, and the only source of light were the hanging lights that blared in the coldness of the air the group just felt. One wrong step in this old bunker, and they could tumble down to an unknown fate. For they had yet to see what awaited them on the other side.
The human and the imps shared some glances at each other before they readied their weapons and walked straight into the tunnel, as the sound of their footsteps bounced off the concrete walls. They reached a flight of steps that stretched down to an even lower level. The edges of the steps glowed with the metallic lining thanks to the lights. Some of them even found themselves tense at the eerie silence around them, along the low-pitched hum of the bunker's air conditioning.
The stairs led them to another bunker door and approached it cautiously, as they could hear the inaudible voices coming from the inside. It was more than likely that it was the cult hiding in there and it seems they didn't know the intruders were behind the door, which they could take the chance to use the element of surprise.
"Hey, rookie." Blitzø glanced behind towards Tristan. "You got more of those fancy smoke bombs with you?"
Tristan raised an eyebrow, wondering to himself how the imp could still remember the time he used that to escape. "Yeah, I brought some just in case. Why?"
"Gimme those." The imp asked curtly while twitching his hand.
"Why?" Tristan repeated, placing his hands around his imps coyly.
Blitzø rolled his eyes as he held back a groan. "Oh, now you're gonna try to be smartass with me? Fine, if you must know, I have a plan of attack, and to make it happen I'm gonna need those goddamn smoke bombs, which you're holding out on me by the way! Now are you gonna hand them over or keep wasting our time?" He hissed.
Tristan continued to glare at the imp, but then he grabbed a couple of them out of his jacket and showed him a pair of metal pellets. "Careful with that, they're sensitive." He said, but instead of handing them carefully, he threw them towards the imp.
"Shit!" Blitzø reached out with his hands and grabbed them quickly before the pellets would hit the ground. He shot a glare at the human who was chortling a laugh, either because of Blitzø's reaction or he just pulled a prank on him. "Thanks a lot, dipshit…"
"Sir, what are you gonna do with those?" Moxxie asked while keeping his tone low.
Blitzø shushed sharply at him as his hand gripped around the handle of the door. The others stiffened as they watched him pushing the door open slowly and then threw the smoke pellets inside, before slamming the door closed. There was a shout before the sound of the pellets exploding was heard, followed by the smoke filtering through the door gaps. Soon, the cries of panic and confusion from the cultists could be heard as they started shooting blindly at the door.
"Ha! I wish I could see the look on their dumb faces!" Blitzø laughed at the reaction he was expecting. The imp then glanced at Tristan and M&M as he held his sniper rifle readily. "Come on guys, let's fuck some shit up!" With that said, Blitzø kicked the door open and shot a cultist who was trying to use the door to get out.
As the smoke started to disperse, the assassins spotted a few more cult members in the room, but they were still blinded by the smoke and coughing. Tristan was next to burst in and thrust his bayonet into the disciple's torso, but then noticed behind him another cultist was aiming his weapon at him. He used the dead body to protect himself from the upcoming bullets, before firing his pistol to take the cultist down.
Meanwhile, Moxxie and Millie jumped into the air and lunged straight at the couple of shocked security guards. Millie bounced off the head of a guy and swung her axe to cut the head of another from behind, as Moxxie dealt the last one by hitting him with the butt of his shotgun and finishing him off by blowing the skull into bloody pieces with a shell.
Tristan spotted another cultist about to shoot him and used the corpse to shield himself. This time however, his gun just ran out of bullets, but he still had his bayonets. So Tristan dragged the corpse with him to block more bullets, and when he already closed his distance with the shooter, he pushed the body off his bayonet and swung the blade to cut off the cultist's head.
"Alright, assholes! If anyone tries to get in our way and stop us from finding your dear shepard, you're more than welcome to die trying!" Blitzø shouted as he unjammed his rifle by cocking an empty shell out of the chamber.
A few remaining cultists were completely shaken after the slaughter they just witnessed. They didn't understand the imp's language, but he made himself dead clear that they will suffer the same fate if they even think about standing up to them. For the first time ever, they decided it was not worth it when they dropped the weapons and began to flee, running past the imps and the young man to get out of the bunker.
"Oh, look what you did. You scared them off." Millie said jokingly as she watched them running away with their tails tucking between their legs.
"That would save us the trouble though." Moxxie chuckled as he had nothing to complain about. He looked at the corridor where the cultists were guarding until now. "I think the priest might be hiding over there."
"Damn right he is. I can even smell his stinky ass from here that I bet he just shit in his pants." Blitzø smirked as he pulled out his flintlock gun, ready to fulfill the promise he made earlier.
Tristan let out a scoff as he twirled his bayonet in his hand. "If you're right about that, then that should save us the time to find him. Lead the way, captain." He and the small imps followed the boss as he strode across the corridor.
Reaching the other end, they found a passage that would take them to the downstairs, which led them to believe the priest might be found there. Without having the time to think about the odds, the assassins took the staircase and noticed that the lower floor looked more like a crypt as the surroundings grew darker than the last room.
Ahead of them, there was an entryway and inside appeared to be a sequestered dungeon with cells lining up the walls, some mortuary tables were scattered around the room and there were about three corpses covered with bloody mantles. But that wasn't the one thing that made Tristan and the imps pay attention, it was a lone bald man standing in the middle of the chamber, wearing the all-black clerical pants and shirt with a white scarf around the neck. He was facing his back at him, without moving a muscle, as if he was busy praying or at least pretending to be.
"Yeah, that's the son of a bitch our client told us." Moxxie growled with venom in his tone, feeling more than prepared to send this so-called preacher to Hell where he should belong.
"Think we should let him finish his prayer?" Tristan asked sarcastically, feeling the same thing as Moxxie after witnessing all the atrocities he created.
Blitzø scoffed, unable to keep the self-satisfied grin off his face at the fact that they finally tracked down the target. "What's the point? I'm sure God is not even listening to him after all this shit."
"Amen to that." Millie nodded, before she and the others trod into the dungeon to confront the priest.
The echo of their footsteps drew the target's attention as he turned around to face them. Tristan briefly noticed he was holding a cellphone before the priest kept it in his pocket. Was he trying to call someone?
"So you're the ones who's causing mayhem in my hospital? I didn't expect you would exterminate all of my minions to come this far, if I'm being honest." The priest said with a dry tone.
"Minions?" Moxxie mouthed the words the priest just said in puzzlement.
"Not all of them, actually. What was left of your little flock of close-minded believers just decided to quit your little cult." Tristan said with a snort, as he glanced around the haunted chamber, pretty much a weird spot for the priest to pick.
"Is that what you call them? Please, who do you take me for? Wait, no, I have a better question." He fully turned around to stand before them with a soul-piercing glare. "Who are you?"
"Well, I guess that means introductions are in order." Blitzø cleared his throat as he took a step forward. "My name is Blitzø, the O is silent. And these are my employees! Well, except the human here, who's just sticking his nose into our business."
"A man working with a bunch of imps? Hmm, now that's a little surprising." The priest said blankly as he glanced at Tristan, while the latter just glared back at him. "So tell me, why did you come here, destroying my hospital, and killing all my workers, just to find me?"
"Hmph, spoken like a priest you're barely acting like it." Blitzø snorted as he approached slowly towards the target. "Alright, let's cut the shit. We come from Hell, and let's say that we've been sent to make you repent for the shitload of sins you've committed. You can say we're here to make a… divine intervention."
"Says a demon who's sent to kill a servant of God." The priest sneered back at the imp, but his words were filled with arrogance and confidence.
Blitzø burst out laughing as he was now standing a few feet away from the priest. "Ain't that hilarious? But here's the real kicker."
'BANG'
The priest's body collapsed with a bullet between his eyes, after Blitzø pulled out his flintlock gun and fired a round to the head. "Your so-called good deeds would actually make your God puke." Blitzø said with a sadistic smile as he smelled the smoke wafting out of his pistol.
"Damn, for a moment I thought you would start a monologue before shooting him." Tristan said after letting out a whistle.
"Eh, I can always try that if I will see him again." Blitzø shrugged as he slid his flintlock gun into his jacket. He clapped his hands as he faced back to the crew. "Welp! Another job well done, gang! Now it's time to go home!"
"Before we go, I need to make a call to a friend of mine to let her know about this. They can deal with the rest of the ghouls we found here." Tristan said as he took out his phone.
"Thank Satan this is over, it's been a crazy night." Moxxie sighed in relief as he wiped some sweat off his head.
"Whew, tell me about it! I can't wait to go back home and take a nice, hot shower! My hair feels kinda sticky." Millie said as she ruffled her hair, almost grimacing when she noticed she got some blood on her.
However, their little break would soon be disturbed when there was ominous laughter echoing throughout the dungeon, which made everyone stood stiff and looked at each other. "Uhh… Moxxie, can you do all of us a favor and don't fucking laugh like that? That was creepy." Blitzø cast a glare at the short one as he fought to keep a shiver from running up his spine.
"Sir… that wasn't me." Moxxie said with a bead of sweat rolling down his temple, almost as if he wished he was the one who laughed.
Tristan's eyes widened as he turned his head slowly to the left, only to see that the priest's body twitched. "Oh you gotta be shittin me."
The imps would soon catch Tristan's mumbling before they looked in the same direction he was facing, and to everyone's shock, they watched the priest sitting up and stared back at them, wearing a sinister smile on his blood-covered face even with the bullet wound on his head.
"I know what you're thinking. That shot was supposed to leave me dead for good." The priest said as he raised up to his feet and dusted off his clothes like nothing. "That is true, but since I can still stand, what would that make me? A survivor? An immortal? Or maybe… a monster?" His smile widened eerily as he took a step forward.
"So, what were you saying earlier?" Moxxie hissed and glared at the young man, bringing up the conversation they had back at the elevator moments ago.
"Not now… Not fecking now!" Tristan growled, clearly not in the mood to hear about ironies as he drew his blessed bayonets.
The priest gripped the white scarf around his hand and threw it away. "I guess I should thank whoever sent you after me. You have no idea how long I've been waiting to get rid of this hideous disguise." He said with an unnerving pleasant tone as he started to approach the assassins.
"Blitzø, you and you little fellas have to get out of here, right now." Tristan warned before himself between the imps and the priest.
"Huh?!" Blitzø sent an incredulous glare at the young man.
"W-What are you saying?" Millie asked nervously as her hands gripped around the haft of her ax.
Tristan clicked his tongue and turned his head at the imps. "Y'all only get yourself killed before you even try to gun him down! Just find a way to get out of the bunker!" He argued before glancing back at the priest, only to find out he just vanished out of thin air. His eyes widened before he spun around and saw the priest was now standing at the exit, which shocked the imps even more.
"Now, why would you leave sooner after all the trouble you've taken to come here? As a matter of fact, this is a perfect opportunity for me to test my newest creations." The priest said before a snap of his fingers echoed loudly.
A few groans caught everyone's attention before Tristan noticed a couple of bodies started moving until they fell off the tables, making the mantles drop off to reveal themselves. As Tristan feared, they were ghouls. However, they looked different compared to the other ghouls they dealt with earlier; aside from being hairless and they were walking on all fours, their faces were heavily damaged to the point their skull could be seen. The glow in their eyes was purple instead of red. And as for their hands and legs their hands and legs grew bigger along the sharpened-looking claws.
At that moment, Tristan felt a new sense of danger by the look of these creatures he didn't see before. If they were the goal of the priest's inhuman experiments, then things would go from bad to worse.
"Oh great, now you want us to play with your little guinea pigs?" Blitzø retorted, sounding more annoyed than nervous.
The priest kept smiling as one of the ghouls began to regurgitate that left the imps confused, but Tristan immediately knew what this freak was about to do. "Shite! Look out!"
Without hesitation, everyone jumped aside before the ghoul spewed bile out of its mouth and splattered across the floor, much to their disgust. However, they noticed the floor surface was burning by the fluids..
"Fascinating, isn't it? My last subjects weren't capable of spitting acid without getting their stomachs blown up." The priest chuckled darkly as he looked proudly at the ghouls.
"I'm getting really tired of this shit…" Blitzø growled with his finger twitching around the trigger of his weapon.
"Kill them." The priest ordered the ghouls with a dark tone.
In the split second, the ghoul on the right roared and lunged straight at Millie like a lion about to catch its prey. Millie barely had the time to react as the ghoul was now inches away from her as it snapped its jaws open, ready to bite her face.
'SLASH'
The ghoul's head suddenly fell off the shoulders when Tristan swung one of his bayonets downwards. Millie's eyes widened and gasped before she stumbled to the side and watched the ghoul sliding across the floor with the blood pooling under its headless body. "Fuck me!" She shouted, shooked up that this happened in the blink of an eye and she would've been a goner if Tristan didn't intervene.
"Eat shit!" Blitzø shouted before shooting a burst of bullets at the other ghoul, but the creature jumped up and hung upside down on the ceiling, much to the surprise of the others. The imp raised his rifle to shoot it again, only to miss when the ghoul dodge and crawled across the ceiling until he was now over him.
The ghoul leaped off the ceiling and reached out with its claws, as Blitzø froze momentarily. But before the ghoul was about to drop on the imp, his face got smacked by the butt of the shotgun when Moxxie jumped in and swung it like a baseball bat. The ghoul sat up and let out another ear-piercing roar, only to be silenced when Millie rushed in and cut the head with her axe, killing the ghoul instantly.
As the head rolled over to Tristan's feet, he picked it up and held it towards the priest. "Looks like all the resources you spent to make these were all for nothing, vampire." He said with a taunting tone before throwing the ghoul's head, sending it rolling to the feet of the "priest".
The so-called priest looked at the lifeless head for a moment before staring back at Tristan with an indifferent look in his eyes, despite his true identity being exposed. "I have to admit, I'm a little impressed you could find out the truth and slay my ghouls. But that doesn't matter. You don't stand a chance against someone on my level."
"Oh fuck off and just die already!" Blitzø shouted before drawing out his sniper rifle and fired a few rounds at the priest, but the bullets did nothing to him as he was still standing.
The now known vampire drew out a dark chuckle as smoke sizzled out of his wounds. "Then let me show you why you should be afraid." Suddenly, his face began to twist and snarled in ways only a monster would be capable of. His nose grew larger that resembled a hound with pointy ears, cold sunken eyes that looked like they'd never seen the light of a day, and two rows of sharp teeth with two large dagger-like canines.
"Hey, rookie. You got any monster hunting tips you'd like to share?" Blitzø asked almost sarcastically at the experienced young monster hunter, though it didn't help with the uneasiness he was feeling right now.
"Whatever you do… and for the love of whatever you worship… do not blink." Tristan said gravely, holding his bayonets firmly.
The vampire bared his fangs to form a wicked smile and suddenly he disappeared into red smoke. There was an unnerving silence as the imps stood with their backs to each other, wondering where the vampire could be hiding. As for Tristan, he was trying to keep himself calm as he looked around, but he couldn't help but curse to himself that he came underprepared for this battle, even though he couldn't predict the imps' target could be a goddamn vampire. Now the only thing he could rely on to kill that monster was his blessed bayonets.
Before anyone would be prepared for the vampire's first move, the sound of a chair being thrown to the bars of a cell alarmed everyone, before Moxxie fired his shotgun out of panic at the spot where he heard the noise.
"What the fuck was that, Moxxie?!" Blitzø yelled, pushing Moxxie harshly to snap him out before he would waste more ammo.
"I-I…" Moxxie tried to explain, but suddenly he and Blitzø were pushed by Tristan, sending them falling to the floor.
'CLANK!'
Tristan used his bayonet to block the vampire's long razor-sharp fingernails that grew out like blades ready to slice up someone open. He knew that the vampire used that distraction to attack the imps from behind, but it was a stroke of luck that he could save them just in time. The vampire hissed venomously with his claws locked on the blade of the bayonet, but then he heard someone shouting before looking behind and saw the female imp was charging.
"Hhaaaarrrgh!" Millie leaped up and brought her axe down, only to miss when the vampire vanished once more and sunk her weapon into the stony floor instead.
Before Millie was about to retrieve her axe, the vampire teleported behind her before kicking her back, sending her flying towards the monster hunter. Tristan sidestepped quickly before Millie would collide him, and watched her crashing against a wall.
"Millie!" Moxxie yelled before he jumped back to his feet and fired his shotgun at the vampire, and tried over and over again as the monster was teleporting to dodge the buckshots. He pulled the trigger one more time, but only came a 'click' noise, meaning he just ran out of ammo. "Oh crumbs…"
The vampire shrieked and lunged at Moxxie, ready to maul him with his claws. Tristan rushed in a hurry to help Moxxie, but the vampire proved to be too fast that he wasn't gonna catch him in time.
"Moxxie, look out!" Suddenly, Blitzø shoved his employee away and fired his rifle, but the vampire vanished once again when he was nearly inches away from the imp. "Why don't you show your face if you got the balls, you dickless fuck- ULGK!" He was suddenly choked by an invisible hand, and was lifted into the air as he dropped his rifle so he could claw whatever was holding him.
"Blitzø!" Moxxie and Millie shouted as their boss gagged desperately for breath with his neck getting crushed.
Tristan knew he had to do something quickly, but he's gonna have more difficulties while the vampire still remains invisible. He looked around frantically to find something that could reveal his presence, until he spotted a bucket full of blood on the floor. Without having a second thought, Tristan reached the bucket and then kicked it towards the spot where Blitzø was being held. The vampire's body outline was finally revealed after blood splattered all over him, as the invisible face stared angrily at Tristan.
"Oh, I see you now." Tristan grinned and dashed towards the vampire with his bayonets to attack.
The vampire growled before he threw Blitzø, sending him flying towards the meddling human, but Tristan jumped over the imp and continued to close distance while Blitzø rolled across the floor. Removing his invisibility, the priest leaped away when Tristan tried to slash him, only to lunge back at the human with a roar and swung his claws. Sparks flew off in the darkness as Tristan crossed his bayonets with the monster's claws, but they were durable enough to withstand the sharpness of his blades no matter how much he tried to cut the priest. Nevertheless, this gave Moxxie and Millie the chance to meet up with their boss.
"Blitzø! Are you okay?" Millie asked as she and her husband checked on Blitzø, while the latter was on his knees, panting and coughing for breath after almost getting strangled.
"Y-Yeah, yeah, *Cough*! Not the first time I got choked out like this, but this was too much for my taste." Blitzø grumbled while clutching his neck. "Where the fuck is the rookie?"
"He's now taking care of the vampire, but I think he needs our help." Moxxie replied as he looked at Tristan blocking a sneak attack after the vampire priest teleported behind him.
Millie grew discouraged as she looked at her husband. "Moxxie, I know you're right, but what are we supposed to do? I mean, I don't know if we even stand a chance against that thing." She hated to say that considering she loved the carnage, but none of them thought that their target would be a goddamn monster and they weren't prepared for this situation.
Blitzø was also aware of that as he gritted his teeth out of frustration. "Alright, you know what? I don't care if that asshole is a human or not, we're not done until we show him what happens when he tries to fuck us in the ass!" He said as he pulled his phone out of the pocket and dialed a number.
"Wait, are you gonna call Stolas?" Moxxie asked in surprise, only to earn a scoff and an eye-rolling from his boss as he pressed the 'call' button.
Back to Tristan, he swung his bayonets downwards to cleave the priest in half, but the vampire vanished in a puff of red smoke once more. Suddenly, a hand grabbed Tristan's collar from behind and then pulled him into the air, throwing him across the room before he could react. He crashed into a weak stone wall, breaking through with his back and ended up landing in a dark passage flanked with more cells and dimming lights from the bulbs above.
Groaning out of pain, Tristan got back to his feet and noticed the vampire was still missing, no doubt hiding in the shadows and waiting for the exact moment to ambush him. He stood still to prepare for the attempt, only to notice he was no longer holding his bayonets, must be after he crashed into a wall. Cursing under his breath, Tristan looked around hastily to find his weapons, until he spotted them on the floor and among the rubble a few feet away from him. He dashed with his hand stretched out, but out of nowhere the vampire stood in front of him before he could reach the blades.
"Feeling helpless without your little knives?" The vampire taunted with a mocking, deep voice as he strided up sinisterly, brandishing his long claws. Tristan only shot a glare as he stood defiantly, even though he was disarmed and had no tools that could help him fight back against a vampire.
Suddenly, the vampire halted and leaned backwards before an axe whistled through the hole, almost splitting his face off and buried into the wall instead. The night creature glared daggers at the female imp who threw it, but little did he know that Tristan took the chance to charge while he was distracted.
"HYA!" Tristan jumped up and delivered a dropkick to the vampire's surprised face, rendering him briefly stunned as he stumbled back. After he landed on the ground, Tristan spotted the bayonets next to him and quickly retrieved them.
While he stood back to his feet, Millie leaped in and went to pull her axe off the wall before joining Tristan. They both exchanged a glance, nodding to each other before rushing in and swung their weapons, forcing the vampire to fend them off while retreating with their blades clashing with his claws in an intense combat. Meanwhile, Moxxie and Blitzø were next to arrive and tried to catch up with them, not to mention Moxxie was more concerned for his wife's safety when she split up and went to deal with the vampire.
The imp woman slipped under the vampire's legs and tried to hack the midsection with an horizontal swing, but the creature jumped up and flipped around, placing his feet on the ceiling and stood upside down, much to her shock. The non-human priest kept blocking the slashes delivered by Tristan as he literally tread across the ceiling, reaching for the darkest spot in the corner.
Blitzø skidded to a halt and aimed his rifle before firing a round at the vampire, but the bullet only hit the wall when the creature stepped into the darkness and disappeared again. Before everyone realized it, he was now standing behind Blitzø and Moxxie as the imps didn't notice until it was too late. When Blitzø turned around, the vampire raised his foot and kicked him away, sending him colliding into the short one and both imps crashed into a wooden door.
"Guys!" Millie cried out, with her face twisting in anger before she lunged and held her axe above her head. But at that moment, in a split second, the vampire closed in at a high speed and kneeled her stomach and sent her flying back. "AGK!" She let out a choked gasp, feeling her breath coming out of her lungs. Her body bounced roughly across the floor and remained curling up in pain.
Tristan glanced at Millie before turning back at the vampire with a scowl, holding his bayonets in white-knuckled hands. He leaped forward and clashed his dual bayonets with the vampire's claws, only to be pushed back and ducked his head before the vampire almost tore his head off. Then Tristan thrust his body forward and tried to land a stab, but the priest faded away before the tip of his bayonet could almost pierce his heart. Holding on his breath, Tristan stood still and looked around while keeping his eyes open, little did he know that the vampire was stalking in the shadows while sneaking up on him.
The vampire teleported behind Tristan and flew straight at him, as Tristan turned over his shoulder with his eyes widened. But it wasn't because the vampire was now close to him and ready to tear him apart, but rather because a portal was opened just between them.
'POW!'
A large paw suddenly flew out of it and hit the vampire's face that threw him through the air and sent him crashing into another wall at the end of the hall. Tristan watched in awe as he watched Loona landing in a crouch position as the portal closed behind her, before rising to her feet with the usual scowl on her face.
Tristan let out a whistle at the remarkable entrance she just made. "I'll be damned, thanks for the assistance, pup." He smiled while standing beside her.
"Don't you call me that again." Loona retorted as she glared at him, clearly not pleased at the little nickname he just gave it to her. "And I wasn't trying to save your sorry ass. I came here because Blitzø called me to do so."
"He did?" Tristan blinked, genuinely surprised that Blitzø decided to follow his advice, or maybe for another reason. He shrugged that thought off and focused back on the task. "Well, you came here at the nick of time. We have a bit of a situation here."
The human and the hellhound turned their attention to the vampire, pulling himself off the wall after he got embedded on it. His nose was bleeding after receiving the kick, before he clutched it and moved it back to its place with a vicious crack, which almost made Loona flinch. "First I see you hanging with a bunch of lowly imps, and now you grew desperate to call your pet dog? You sure are full of surprises." He glanced at Tristan, as if he's the one who's in charge.
Loona growled back at the vampire with a killing-intent look in her eyes. "Wanna say that again to my face, bitch?" The hellhound snapped, clenching her fists while her fur appeared to stand up. She was about to move, only to be stopped when Tristan placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Loona, calm down! This man is a bloody vampire, but we can still get rid of him if we-" Tristan couldn't finish his sentence when Loona slapped his hand away from her shoulder and then she shot towards the vampire while ignoring Tristan's protests. She went for a slash with her claws, but the vampire sidestepped despite the fact she was fast enough to cut him in half. At first she seemed to be a little bit surprised, but quickly shook it off and clenched her fist to deliver a straight punch, but instead of hitting the face of the priest, she punched through the stone wall instead, leaving a hole on it. "The fuck - AGH!"
Loona was kicked on the side after the vampire teleported behind her and sent her flying across the passageway, but she quickly regained her footing and dug her nails into the floor to stop herself sliding too far. Holding back a flinch she was feeling from the kick she received, Loona dashed forward, jumped onto the wall and bounced off it before delivering a heel kick, aiming to the vampire's head. Unfortunately, she missed once again when the monster stepped backwards, making her foot hit the other wall so hard that it left cracks around the spot.
Suddenly, Loona was pinned against the wall and gagged as an arm pressed against her throat. She tried clawing the arm to break herself free, but no matter how much she tried, the vampire had a strong grip that kept her immobile. Loona couldn't do anything but glaring at the hideous beast as he raised his claws above his head. But before the monster was about to strike her, Tristan intervened and forced the vampire to let her go and jump away when he tried to slash him.
Tristan glanced down at Loona as she was coughing and taking a moment to catch a breath. "Now are you gonna be a good girl and listen?" He asked with a stoic expression, raising an eyebrow.
Loona clicked her tongue disdainfully at him, but she didn't utter a retort or even a word at him, which Tristan took her silence as a 'yes' as she raised back up and stood beside him. They both turned their sights back at the vampire standing at the far end, letting out a roar before high-tailing to the eastern side of the hall.
"Go, go!" Tristan shouted, before he and Loona ran off to pursue the vampire, leaving Millie behind as she was still recovering from the blow earlier. When they turned around the corner, it appeared that the vampire went missing again, but suddenly out of the corner of his eye, a lump of shadow moved out of an alcove.
His eyes widened and leaned backwards when the vampire's claws almost sliced his head off, this gave Loona the chance to pounce on him and they both crashed through another wall. Tristan shielded his eyes from the debris until he lowered his hand and went to follow them to the other side, but as he was crossing the wall, he saw Loona was still grappling the vampire's hands while they were standing in the middle of a stone dais. Loona then opened her jaws and sunk her teeth into the vampire's shoulders.
The vampire howled in pain before he grabbed Loona by the shoulders and then kicked her away from him. Loona emitted a whimper as she rolled across the floor until she braced up against a wall. The vampire clutched the wound of his shoulder with his hand, but only for a moment until the bite marks healed itself. After that, the night creature cast his soul-piercing glare at Tristan, but the young man wasn't faltered by that as he circled around.
"Answer me this, human. What exactly are you seeking to even help the spawns of Hell cleaning up the mess they didn't even create? Is it justice? Or just to make me laugh?" The vampire asked while letting out a growl.
Tristan let out a snort as he twirled his bayonets. "It's kind of a long story, but I'm just kind of here to do my job killing you and all that type of stuff, so I don't have time to hear your philosophical nonsense." He stopped in his tracks before charging straight at the monster and went to strike him with a slash.
As Tristan expected, the vampire raised his guard to parry it, but without losing his momentum he twirled around while holding one of his blades in a reverse grip and thrust it backwards for a stab. But the vampire used the claws to lodge the blade between them and then stanched the bayonet off Tristan's hand, throwing it away from his reach. Gritting his teeth, Tristan held his last bayonet with both hands and went to deliver an arching swing, but the vampire closed distance with a blinding speed before grabbing him by the throat and then slammed him into the platform.
"Did you know the Nazis were using this room for sacrificial rituals? I couldn't care less about the fact, but how about you would have the honor to be the last one before I leave this worthless place?" The priest vampire said and raised his claws above his head, ready to strike the young man down.
Tristan gagged as he felt his windpipe getting crushed by the hand, and no matter how much he was kicking his legs up, he knew the vampire was too strong to break himself free. Clenching one of his fists, he threw a straight punch into the priest's face. Normally this wouldn't do anything and would probably just make the vampire pissed, but what the creature didn't count on was that he hit him with the silver ring he was wearing.
And everybody knows that vampires hate silver.
"AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!" The vampire screamed and released Tristan, stumbling backwards as he clutched his face when he felt his skin burning as smoke drifted through his fingers.
Tristan got back to his feet as he recovered his breathing, looking at the vampire lowering his hands to reveal the crest of his ring burning on the left side of his face. His eyes flared intensely when he looked at him furiously, but that only drew a vicious chuckle from Tristan. "Guess who left the mark on you, bitch." He grinned holding the fist up so the vampire could see the ring he was wearing.
The vampire blinked as he paid attention to the ring's crest, and at that moment, his anger would soon change into shock and horror once he recognized the family crest. Tristan always knew the Van Helsings are the vampires' worst enemy, let alone their worst nightmare. And just in case they'd think the family of vampire hunters was nothing but a myth, he would be there to remind them how wrong they are.
(Play Song: Hellsing Ultimate Ost: One Million Bullets)
"Damn you… DAMN YOU!" The vampire roared and jumped straight at Tristan, snapping his jaws open so he could tear the human's face off with his teeth.
'BANG'
A bullet suddenly hit the vampire that sent him flying and rolling to the ground away from Tristan, though that only made him pissed as he looked daggers at the person who shot him.
"Did you forget about us, motherfucker?" Blitzø said with a smug smile while holding his smoking flintlock pistol. He, along with Moxxie and Millie, crossed the wall to confront the vampire despite the beatdown they received earlier.
Tristan was almost surprised to see the imps, as he honestly thought that they would abandon the mission or at the least leave him to handle the situation, but instead they came back for some payback, which he had to give them credit for their persistence. Furthermore, Loona just rose back to her feet and surrounded the vampire from the other side. With that kind of advantage, they might still have the chance to kill the monster.
But before they could get the chance to jump on the vampire, he turned himself invisible, much to the annoyance of Tristan and the others. He looked around the ritual room to find something that could force the vampire to show himself, until his eyes caught on a lit cresset next to him, and without a second thought, he pushed it down and made the oil splatter across the platform. However, the flame started dancing around the air before they had revealed the invisible silhouette. The vampire reappeared again as he was pulling off his shirt after he caught some of the fair.
Loona was the first to react and took the chance of a distraction by lunging forward and landing her fist on the vampire's face, rendering him stunned. Tristan and Millie then pushed on and swung their blades to finish him off, but the vampire quickly recovered from the blow and blocked their attacks with the claws. After parrying a bayonet slash from Tristan and kicking the little girl imp away, he raised his claws to strike Tristan, but Blitzø fired a round of his rifle and hit on the vampire's hand to interrupt the attack.
Just when the vampire was ready to retaliate, Loona gets behind him with her mouth open and then bit into his left arm, keeping him . Soon after that, Tristan brought his bayonet down and sliced the vampire's limb off. The vampire screeched in agony as the holy blade took away the ability to regenerate his arm. The vampire raised his other arm, but suddenly Millie jumped in front of him and cut it off with her axe, leaving the master completely limbless. Before the priest could do something to escape, his kneecaps were blown when Moxxie shot both his legs with the shotgun, forcing the vampire to fall to the floor.
Standing over the vampire, Tristan gave him one last look at the monster while holding his bayonet above his head. "You know, I could say something witty or sarcastic before I sentence you to death, but honestly… you're not even worth it." He said with a twisted smile.
The vampire roared out of anger at him, only to be silenced when Tristan thrust the blessed bayonet into the chest and pierced his heart, making the monster let out an ear-piercing screech with blood coming out of his mouth. Tristan left the bayonet on the chest and backed away as he, the imps and the hellhound watched the vampire writhing as his skin began to shrivel up and smoke came out of the body. With a faint wail, the vampire laid down lifelessly with his body completely gaunt.
(End Song)
"Is… Is it over?" Moxxie asked between pants as he and the others approached cautiously at the corpse.
Tristan stepped forward and reached down for his bayonet, pulling it out of the vampire's chest with blood dripping off the tip. "Aye, I just stabbed him in the heart. He's more than just dead, he's nothing but a hollow vessel now." He replied as he slid his bayonet into his jacket.
"Sheesh, this blood-sucking fuck looks so dried up like he just ran out all of jizz." Blitzø jested as he took a closer look at the face of the dead priest, poking one of the eyes with the barrel of his rifle with no reaction.
"I still have no idea what the fuck just happened, but I would be happy if I don't have to deal with this shit ever again." Loona said, grimacing as she rubbed her aching side.
"So, we're really done?" Millie huffed as she leaned herself against her axe, feeling exhausted after the intense battle.
"Yeah, let's get the hell out of here." Tristan nodded as he took off his hat and wiped some sweat off his forehead.
And so, he and the I.M.P made their long way out of the bunker and got back to the hospital. Once they reached the upper level, they found piles of dust scattered all across the hallways, much to their confusion until Tristan explained that after the vampire was slayed, the ghouls would also be destroyed and then turn themselves into dust since traditionally they cannot survive without their master.
As they were heading to the exit, Tristan stopped for a moment to take out his phone and sent a message to the A.R.E.S HQ about what just happened, so they could send a cleanup team and rescue all the patients that were imprisoned in this hospital. Of course, they will have so many questions about this incident, but the organization will make sure that none of this would come out to the public. It's not the first time they have done something like this after all.
Once outside, they stood around the courtyard as Loona used the grimoire to open a portal to go back to Tristan's place before they would go back to their world. As they were entering through the portal, Tristan could notice everyone was very relieved to leave this place, which he could understand how they felt after surviving. If he wasn't around, they probably wouldn't survive against a vampire attack. But he was almost certain that this won't be their last time they will have to deal with this kind of task.
Now standing back in his living room, Tristan let out a weary sigh as he removed his hat. "Thanks for giving me a lift. What are you lads gonna do next?" He asked as he watched Loona reading the grimoire to open a portal to Hell.
"Well, considering our target was a monster, I might have to charge our client a little extra for that. Also I might gonna need someone who can take off this fucking splinters off me." Blitzø said before flinching after he pulled one splinter off his neck. "Ow."
"I guess we'll see you again next time. Let's just say it's being… an interesting experience working with you." Moxxie added, trying to sound polite as he held his hand out for a handshake, which Tristan accepted.
"You can give us a call if you wanna hang out in Hell. It's not really a bad place as they say." Millie said cheerfully.
Tristan rolled his eyes as he considered the offer. "Hmm, I'll think about it. But you're sure about that? Last time I remember, I gained too much attention after my face got exposed." Tristan recalled the time they saw the news in Hell, which almost surprised him that they even got their own news channel, about his sighting in their world. They even gave him a name as the… Hellwalker.
"Eh, you'll be fine. Just give it some time and they'll forget it." Blitzø waved his hand nonchalantly as Loona opened a new portal that leads to their office building. "Let's go, gang!"
After the imps entered the portal, Loona was next to follow them. But then she stopped one step away from the portal before looking over her shoulder at Tristan, which he raised an eyebrow quizzically at her. He wondered if she had something in her mind or maybe she just wanted to insult him, but no words came out of her mouth as she just stared stoically at him. It only lasted for a moment before she stepped through the portal and it disappeared.
This did leave Tristan confused, as he could assume that something was bothering Loona, but he was too tired to press her. Right now, he wanted to make sure she didn't leave some kind of mess in his house. But as he sauntered across the living room, he noticed a dark package of cigarettes lying on the coffee table. He could've sworn it wasn't there and he didn't leave it to begin with. Must be from Loona's since she stayed in here for a while, but apparently she forgot she left it behind before leaving.
Picking it up, he looked at the strange logo that was a face of a demon jester, but he didn't pay much attention to that as he was more curious about the cigarettes they sell in Hell. He put one of them between his lips and used a match to light the cigarette and puffed out a blow of smoke. It had a peculiar bitter aftertaste, but it wasn't as strong as he expected.
Suddenly his phone started ringing before taking it out of his pocket and saw that it was Ashley who's calling him. "Hey Ashley, what's up?" Tristan said as he sat on his couch.
"Nothing much, mate. I just read the report about your assignment with those imps in Germany. It must have been a bloody stress to deal with a vampire priest, especially to explain to the Christians what happened in that hospital." Ashley snorted through the line. "Anyway, the higher-ups are just wondering how was your first day working with the… I.M.P?"
(Play Song: Norma Tanega - You're Dead)
Tristan hummed thoughtfully as he recalled how it all started before giving his honest opinion. While he wanted to admit that they should've been more prepared beforehand and there's still a few things they need to sort it out, it was indeed riveting to work along with some hellspawns. Blitzø was still an asshole and apparently he has an inflated ego that will be difficult to work with that kind of character. Moxxie and Millie on the other hand proved to be a killer, if not a nice marriage couple were actually nice, if not a killer couple. As for Loona… She's quite a mystery as far as he's concerned after their little staredown. Nevertheless, despite their flaws, the I.M.P had proven to be a capable assassin group and they seem like they have more potential to improve themselves. Maybe they can even be capable of hunting a monster.
Taking another drag of his cigarette, he answered as the smoke blew out of his nose.
"It wasn't that bad."
N/A: Here's another chapter of your favorite Hellwalker and the conclusion of the gang's task! I really had fun writing the scenes of Tristan and I.M.P fighting together against a monster, and you bet that this won't be the last time you're gonna see it! I can also assure you that there's also gonna be consequences about this event, not gonna give away spoilers. And yeah, you can expect that Tristan will try to interact with Loona more. Also I'd like to answer some reviews I read in the comments and thought you guys would like to know some details.
Guest #1: Nice guess, but no, Dracula is not the one who put a hit on Tristan.
Guest #2: That is actually an interesting question. I did think about making it an audio story, but sadly it's hard to find voice actors who can portray well to Tristan, especially since he's an Irishman. Not to mention it would be so expensive to make that happen.
StingyWingy: You're correct, Tristan won't tolerate the imp's antics and insults. Of course, he will make his comebacks to piss him off for fun, but the more he knows about him, his relationship with Stolas and more, will soon come the day when he will have enough and he's gonna give him a piece of his mind.
Alright! I can assure you I'll be updating this story soon, but in the meantime, I'll try to finish one commission and probably I'll write another random idea or continue a project that's been discontinued for so long. Also, don't forget that I have a P-a-t-r-e-o-n channel where I publish some exclusive scenes that's gonna happen in my stories and some previews of the new chapters and some polls. Your support will be much appreciated! You can also follow me on Twitter or join my Discord server!
Also I wanna thank to over the 100 people who favorited and followed my story! I really hope this story will become a hot topic someday!
Have a good day everyone!
