The Human Hero wakes up in Nicole's hideaway to find her preparing fish for him.
"Man, how long was I out?" He asked.
"Long enough. Here you will need your strength." The dragon lady said, serving him some fish.
Finn's fatigue seemed to melt away as he saw the meal. He eagerly accepted the plate, his mouth watering at the sight and smell of the food. "Wow, thanks, Nicole," he said, appreciating her kindness.
As he took his first bite, the flavors exploded on his taste buds, and he couldn't help but smile. "This is amazing! You're a great cook, Nicole."
Nicole smiled back, a warmth in her eyes. "I'm glad you like it. I've had a lot of time to perfect my cooking skills over the years."
"Much as I enjoy a woman cooking for us. We need to get a move on. Ask her where the door to the next level is."
'Cant you let me finish my food yet? If you could taste this you would love it, just saying'
"Just wanna make sure this isn't another Guardian Angel who wants our flesh."
'Dude if she wanted that she would have done it by now.' Finn argued
"Unless she wants to fatten us up first..." The shadow countered.
Finn couldn't help but roll his eyes at the persistent inner shadow, even as he continued to savor the delicious meal prepared by Nicole. He knew that the shadow had a tendency to be overly cautious, but he also trusted his instincts, and so far, Nicole had shown no signs of hostility.
Once he finished his meal, Finn wiped his mouth with a napkin that Nicole had provided and cleared his throat. "Hey, Nicole, thanks again for the meal. It was fantastic. But, uh, do you mind if we talk about the next level and how to get there?"
"I had a feeling you'd ask. The way out is through the water temple and it is well protected. If you don't drown, the defenders will drown you." Nicole said, warning the Hero.
"Water temple huh? More fish for us to collect and fry later."
As they got up from the makeshift dining area, Finn cast a wary glance at his inner shadow, who continued to mutter words of caution. He couldn't help but wonder if his shadow was right to be so skeptical or if it was just being overly paranoid. Either way, he knew he had to proceed with caution in this unpredictable dungeon world.
"Can you come with us by any chance?" Finn asked her.
"It's been awhile since I accompanied someone on their journey. But you seem like a kind and strong adventurer Finn. And you haven't tried to slay me simply for loot or experience. So yes. I shall help you" Nicole answered.
Finn was relieved to hear that Nicole was willing to accompany them on their journey through the water temple. He had a feeling that her knowledge and abilities would be invaluable in navigating the challenges that lay ahead.
"Thank you, Nicole. Your help means a lot to us," Finn said with a grateful smile. "Let's make our way to the water temple then. I'll follow your lead."
With Nicole leading the way, they left her hideaway and ventured into the unknown depths of the dungeon.
"I told you to ask where the door was. I didn't expect you to actually invite her to come."
'Oh pipe down, she is a freaking dragon! At least let's use this chance to get as many advantages as possible'
"And as a bonus we get to ride a dragon. And a female one at that. Bonus!"
Finn couldn't help but chuckle at the banter between himself and his inner shadow. While he understood the cautious nature of his inner voice, he also recognized the potential advantages of having Nicole, a dragon, as their companion.
"Don't worry too much. Nicole seems trustworthy, and having her with us might just be the edge we need in this dungeon. Plus, a dragon ride does sound like a bonus," Finn replied with a grin.
"Hah, glad you see things my way."
"Are you prepared Finn? For the Temple will hold many perils." Nicole asked the young hero as they approached their destination.
Finn nodded in response to Nicole's question. "I'm as prepared as I can be. We've faced challenges in this dungeon before, and we've made it this far. With you by our side, Nicole, I believe we can handle whatever the water temple throws at us."
He adjusted his gear, making sure his weapons and equipment were in order, and took a deep breath to steady his nerves.
The entrance was adorned with intricate, aquatic-themed carvings, and the sound of rushing water could be heard from within.
As they stepped inside, the temperature dropped noticeably, and the air felt damp and heavy. The interior of the temple was dimly lit, with eerie bioluminescent plants casting an otherworldly glow. The floors were slick with water, and they could hear the distant sound of flowing currents.
Nicole cautioned them, "Watch your step. The temple is filled with traps, and the defenders will not take kindly to intruders."
"What kind of traps do you put in a water Temple?" The shadow asked as they made their way inside. Luckily it was spacious enough for Nicole.
'I don't know, let me ask' "So what can we expect in this temple?" Finn asked.
Nicole, with her knowledge of the temple, replied in a hushed tone, "In a water temple, you can expect a variety of traps designed to take advantage of the element of water. There may be hidden underwater currents that can pull you away, pressure-sensitive tiles that trigger mechanisms, and even submerged chambers with air pockets that can disorient intruders. It's a test of wits and adaptability."
"Well Shit..."
"Sounds really rough, how do you know all that? Have you tried going past it before?" Finn asked, not knowing why she could know it.
"I've been inside before. But I never completed it." Nicole said, remembering her time inside.
"Why not? Was it too hard for you?"
"Why leave a place that perfectly suited my needs? Plus the door seemed too small…"
"I bet her butt was too big to fit, hahahaha"
'Dude!' "Oh I see..."
"We have arrived…"
The entrance to the temple was finally in full view, the exterior was made of smooth, pale blue stones that seemed to shimmer with a hint of iridescence in the dim light. Elaborate carvings adorned the archway, depicting intricate aquatic scenes. Schools of fish swam gracefully, and aquatic creatures like seahorses, turtles, and dolphins were frozen in stone, giving the entrance an aura of underwater life.
The entrance itself was framed by an arch with patterns that resembled ocean waves, and as they peered inside, they could see that the temple's interior was no less impressive. The walls were lined with tall columns, their surfaces adorned with more intricate carvings and reliefs of water deities and mythical sea creatures.
Bioluminescent plants grew along the columns and glowed softly, casting a gentle blue-green light that illuminated their path. These plants added an eerie, almost magical quality to the temple's atmosphere.
"Wow... this place is amazing..." Finn said, looking around.
"Especially now that we're not afraid of the ocean anymore."
"But not without its hidden dangers. Young Human." Nicole warned.
As Finn, Nicole, and Finn's inner shadow continued to gaze upon the awe-inspiring interior of the water temple, they could sense the weight of the challenges that lay ahead. The temple's atmosphere was both enchanting and foreboding, with the soft glow of bioluminescent plants casting dancing shadows across the columns adorned with intricate carvings of water deities and mythical sea creatures.
Finn took a deep breath, attempting to steady his nerves as they stepped further into the temple's depths. The air grew cooler, and the faint sound of flowing water echoed through the vast chamber.
Nicole, with her knowledge of the temple's potential dangers, spoke with caution. "In a place like this, appearances can be deceiving. The water temple is not just a place of beauty; it's a testing ground for those who dare to venture through it."
"Why do I get the feeling some of the creature carvings aren't exaggerated?" The shadow said seeing some of the more menacing carvings.
'You act as if we never fought giant goes before getting cold feet? Hehe'
"You kidding? I'm looking forward to the fish fry we're definitely going to have."
"So this is the entrance, so far so good, will there be levels where we need to dive deep?" Finn asked Nicole.
"Indeed. This Temple contains many depths." Nicole replied.
"Ok so what do we do first?" Finn asked.
Nicole surveyed the grandeur of the temple and then turned her attention back to Finn. "First, we need to navigate through this main chamber and find the path that leads deeper into the temple. Keep an eye out for any signs or symbols that might guide us. The water temple often uses hidden cues to direct adventurers."
"Stay vigilant, Hero. We don't know what surprises this place has in store for us."
"Don't worry. Dungeon crawls are my specialty. An old temple shouldn't be much different." Finn said following Nicole's lead.
"Famous last words, but whatever lets see if you mean those words"
"Hmph, not my first time underwater either." Finn pointed out.
Nicole led the way with grace and confidence, her dragon form enabling her to move through the temple's passages without difficulty. Finn followed closely behind, his footsteps echoing softly on the slick, polished stone floor. His inner shadow, although full of skepticism, remained vigilant, scanning the surroundings for any potential dangers.
They came across a series of massive, intricately carved double doors adorned with enormous seashell-shaped handles. The carvings on these doors depicted a grand underwater city, with merfolk, sea serpents, and other mystical creatures coexisting harmoniously. Finn couldn't help but marvel at the artistry on display.
Nicole turned to Finn and explained, "These doors lead to the heart of the temple, where the true challenges await. To open them, we must first prove our worth to the temple's guardians."
"Prove our worth? How?" Finn inquired.
Nicole extended one of her colossal claws towards the door, gently tapping it, causing a resonating chime to fill the air. "The temple listens to the vibrations we create. We must create a harmony with the door, matching the rhythm it desires. Let's give it a try."
"Oh great. A game of Simon says." The shadow rolled its eyes at the seemingly dull challenge.
With Nicole's guidance, Finn and his companions began to experiment, attempting to mimic the chimes and rhythms of the door. The process was a delicate one, requiring patience and precision.
"Why doesn't the dragon lady just bash the doors down?" the shadow asked, losing patience.
"We need to be respectful to the temple and the people who built it." Finn said to the irritated Shadow.
After a few attempts, they managed to align their movements and create the desired harmony.
The colossal doors creaked open, revealing a chamber filled with a soft, ethereal glow. This inner sanctum was a breathtaking sight to behold. Pillars of water seemed to suspend in midair, forming intricate patterns that danced with life. The central platform was surrounded by a moat of crystalline water, its depths shrouded in mystery.
"Ugh, reminded me of that stupid door Lord... Who makes musical doors?!"
Nicole turned to Finn, her eyes reflecting both determination and caution. "We've passed the first test, but more await us within. Are you ready, Finn?"
Finn nodded, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and trepidation. "I'm ready. Let's face whatever lies ahead, together."
"Very well, let us proceed." And with that the two enter the temple together.
Finn and Nicole ventured deeper into the heart of the water temple. The chamber was a symphony of water and light, and the air was filled with an otherworldly, aquatic energy. As they crossed the threshold, the grand doors behind them closed with a sonorous thud, sealing their path forward.
The inner sanctum held secrets and challenges yet to be revealed. The moat of crystalline water surrounding the central platform drew their attention. Its depths seemed to hide more than what the eye could perceive. Finn couldn't help but wonder what lay beneath the water's surface.
Nicole, her dragon eyes keenly observant, noted a series of glowing symbols etched into the stone of the central platform. "These symbols, they seem to correspond to the elements of water," she murmured. "We must decipher their meaning to proceed."
Finn joined her, studying the symbols closely. As he examined each intricate design, he noticed a pattern emerging. "I think these symbols represent different aspects of water: currents, tides, waves, and whirlpools. It's as if they're describing the various forms water can take."
"Since when do you know squat about the shapes of water?"
'Shut up! I read books too sometimes when its raining' Finn thought with a pout.
"AHAHAHAHA!! Please, all you do is hang with Marceline or play with BMO when it rains! You get bored when you read! AHAHAHAHA!!" The Shadow laughed distracting Finn as he tried to solve the puzzle.
Nicole nodded in agreement. "In order to unlock the path ahead, we must channel the essence of water, aligning ourselves with these symbols. The water temple is a place of harmony and balance. It requires us to connect with the elements...what do you think?"
"Huh? Oh uh sure yeah, not the first time I had to sing and dance for a door." Finn said not really getting it.
With this newfound understanding, they set out to align themselves with the symbols, each one representing an aspect of water. They moved with grace and fluidity, mirroring the motions of the water itself. As they channeled the essence of water, the symbols began to glow with a soft, azure light.
With a profound sense of accomplishment, Finn and Nicole watched as the waters in the central moat began to stir. The tranquil surface transformed into a mesmerizing display of water artistry. It swirled and danced in response to their connection with the elements.
"Ugh, so embarrassing..."
'Hey, it worked didn't it?' Finn thought to himself.
"whatever. When do we get to fight something already?!"
As Finn and Nicole successfully aligned themselves with the water symbols, the central moat's waters came alive, swirling and dancing in response to their harmonious connection. But it seemed their actions had stirred something more than just the waters of the temple.
From the now agitated moat, a sudden and eerie transformation occurred. Water-related creatures began to take shape before their very eyes. These elemental beings were made entirely of water, their forms shifting and flowing like liquid silk. At the heart of this aqueous assembly, a core pulsed with a mysterious energy.
The water-based creatures, resembling tentacles with a central core, moved with fluid grace, encircling Finn and Nicole. They seemed to be both a challenge and a part of the temple's defense. The core of the formation glowed with a luminous aquamarine light, and they could sense that defeating it was the key to progressing further into the temple.
"Temple guardians I'm guessing." Finn said, pulling out his silver knight sword.
"Now we're talking!"
"Would you like assistance?" Nicole asked.
"Oh please we got this."
"By all means, the more the merrier. I can already see their weak spots." Finn said, ready for combat.
The battle began, as Finn and Nicole engaged the water guardians in a fierce struggle. The silver knight sword sliced through the watery tentacles with precision, while Nicole's mighty jaws and claws struck with calculated force.
The water guardians retaliated with tendrils of water, attempting to ensnare and disorient the heroes. Finn dodged and weaved, his agility playing a vital role in avoiding the watery assaults. Nicole's elemental breath weapon added another layer of power to their combined assault.
Their fluid-like structure made physical attacks not that effective against them. But Finn ducked and dodged the water tendrils to get in close and drove his sword deep into one of them, right in their glowing core.
"Lucky me you sort of have a organ here hahaha"
As the battle raged on, the central core of the guardians grew more erratic and unstable. The guardians, their cohesion disrupted, began to falter. In a final, coordinated strike, Finn and Nicole focused their efforts on the core, and with a resounding clash, they shattered it.
The water guardians dissipated, their liquid forms breaking apart and flowing back into the central moat. As the last remnants of the guardians disappeared, a sense of accomplishment and relief washed over Finn and Nicole.
Finn wiped the sweat from his brow, still holding his sword at the ready, just in case. "Well, that was a real splash of a battle, huh?"
"Lame."
"Indeed it was Finn. A sort of final test to prove your worthiness." Nicole said.
"I suppose, now we can get to the real hard part, let's keep moving forward"
"Did those things even drop anything?"
'What kind of drops would water guardians have?' Finn wondered.
Finn, with his silver knight sword still in hand, knelt down beside the remnants of the water guardians. As the last echoes of battle faded, he began searching for the drops left behind by the defeated creatures. The chamber was now still, with only the soft gurgling of the central moat breaking the silence.
The dissipated forms of the water guardians left behind some sparkling blue gems which Finn picked up and examined.
"Pretty... some kind of sapphire? A water diamond?"
"Look like a water Crystal or something, let's look deep into it!"
"Oh yeah." Finn used his examiner ability on the crystal to see its use and effects.
Aqua Crystals: These radiant, gem-like crystals could be found within the core of the water guardians. They are imbued with the essence of water and can be used in various magical or alchemical rituals.
They glowed softly, seemingly untouched by the violence of their creation. The crystals were exquisite, with an otherworldly beauty that captivated his attention.
He reached out and carefully gathered them, cradling the Aqua Crystals in his hands. As he counted them, he realized the significance of his find. The number of Aqua Crystals corresponded to the number of water guardians they had defeated – a total of three.
"Looks like you found some loot" Nicole mentioned.
"Yeah, don't know what I'll use 'em for but I'm sure they'll be useful later." Finn said, stashing them in his pack.
As he rose to his feet, a sense of anticipation filled the chamber. They had conquered the first challenge of the water temple and found valuable Aqua Crystals.
"Now let's find a pool to dive in"
"Time to dive deeper." Finn said as he approached the central moat.
The waters, once agitated by the appearance of the water guardians, had now calmed. The soft, soothing ripples in the moat beckoned them, inviting them to venture further into the temple's depths.
Finn gazed into the clear, reflective surface, wondering what challenges and mysteries awaited them in the heart of the water temple.
"Are you prepared Finn? The depths are treacherous for those not accustomed to their perils." Nicole said, standing behind him.
Finn took a deep breath, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "I'm as prepared as I'll ever be. Let's see what lies beneath the surface."
"CANNONBALL!!"
Finn launched himself into the central moat, creating a mighty splash that sent water droplets dancing through the air. As he submerged into the clear, refreshing waters, he couldn't help but revel in the exhilaration of his cannonball dive. The temple's mysteries awaited beneath the surface, and he was ready to explore them headfirst.
