Keep in mind I wrote this last July.
Please bear with me.
Enjoy!
Purple had long since calmed down from the screaming fit that was most of the drive out of town.
As much as he hated to stop, he'd save the voice he needed when he did escape and had to tell people what happened, or anything else that required using social requirements, like speaking.
These next few days, or weeks, hell, even months, were probably going to be the worst of his life for all he knew.
Or maybe, Midnight was just some kid who needed love from other people. Maybe he needed friends?
No, that couldn't be it. He had friends, obviously. He had at least four other people in the van with him and Purple at all times. That entire smoke bomb-separation-kidnapping thing had to have at least 3 people involved, maybe four given Purple's strength, speed, and defense tactics.
Thank the Color Gang for that.
Now that the truck had stopped, there were only a number of things he could do.
He could resist and wait and hope that help would arrive within a reasonable time.
Or he could just push past everyone and run into the woods, and continue running until he finds King, or cops, or the city, or God knows what.
Like he was thinking before, his possibilities of escape were numbered.
Suddenly, his thoughts were broken by two sets of hands grabbing his forearms and dragging him out. He was frozen, too stunned to do practically anything.
The two sticks, who could barely be older than sixteen, maybe seventeen, dragged him out of the bed of the truck and onto the dirt floor, at the feet of the lead man of the operation.
"Excellent work, Ruby and Sage," The man said, as the two sticks in question slid back to their original positions beside two others. "You are going to make a lovely victim, Purple."
"I swear, when King finds out where I am, he will beat you to death and show zero mercy!" Purple spat. Midnight only smirked.
"I can't wait for him to do so," He said, holding Purple's head up. If looks could kill, Midnight would've been dead seconds ago with the younger stick's glare. "I can't wait for his pitiful attempt at saving whatever you are to him."
Midnight strolled off inside, alongside Sage, Ruby, and another stick darker than Yellow. "Lilac, take care of the prisoner." He ordered before heading inside with his cohorts.
Lilac helped Purple up before giving him a look of sympathy, leading him towards an outdoor cellar to where he could only assume was a basement, or even a dungeon. "I promise, I'll do what I can to help you escape. My dad's still thinking I'm dead after Midnight met me. Trust me, as soon as he "claims" you, any chance of your friends finding you is gone." Lilac whispered.
"How do you know?" Purple asked, his voice raspy from screaming.
"Those three who went in with him? Sage, Ruby, and Saffron? They went through the hardships and trauma I faced and you're about to face. If anything, we're your only hope."
Purple looked at her. "You guys haven't tried?"
"It's not worth it. Even if you do escape, he'll find out one way or another, and it won't be merciful when he gets to you first."
Within the hour, King and the others were home to figure out what to do next.
Green surprisingly had held it together better than King ever could, seeing as King was barely keeping himself together.
Then again, this was the second child he'd lost.
And God forbade Midnight from killing the only joy light King had left.
"King, you okay? You've been pretty quiet and the others are pretty worried."
"I-I'm fine. Just worry about Purple."
"Worrying about you is more important. If your not in any shape to beat Midnight senseless or even help rescue Purple, there's no point in worrying about Purple."
"Purple's…kidnapped. Worrying about him is more important because he's God knows where."
"He's right." Blue popped into the room next to Green. "The worst part is the forest covers up truck tracks. Meaning if they do find tracks leading into the woods, the remaining tracks will be lost, meaning a most likely dead end."
"Depends on the wheel type probably." King answered. "If the van has made for forest road wheels, they might survive the whole trip through the woods."
"Midnight can't be any older than eighteen. How's he gonna know what wheels are made for the forest and what aren't?"
"He seemed smart enough with the kidnapping plan. He had smoke bombs, after all."
"True."
"Looks like we've got a scientist-level smart kidnapper on our hands." King muttered.
"That's just wonderful." Green said sarcastically.
"Shut up, Green." Blue said.
"Focus, Color Gang!" Second ordered. "There's still a chance we can find Purple! If anything, we can rescue Purple ourselves!"
"The police are already involved, and only God knows how many people Midnight has as help." Red noted.
"We've saved the Minecraft universe. What can we not face?"
"Well, we're wasting time just sitting here doing nothing. Purple's in serious danger, and we have to do something about it!" Second proclaimed.
"Like what?" Asked Red.
"Simple. There were at least five people in that entire group. We just need to try and remember their colors, and follow the path they took."
"Yeah, if the cops ever let us help. It'll just be a massive waste of our time if they won't let us help." Green mumbled.
"He makes a point." King added.
"Well, there has to be something we can do!" Red said.
Second sighed. "Since there really isn't anything we can do right now, we'll wait for a call from either Midnight for ransom, or the cops with information. Got it?"
Everyone agreed that was the best thing to do.
Hours afterwards, towards the end of the afternoon and into the evening, King got a random phone call that shattered the solemn silence of the house and scared the living crap out of almost everyone.
"Holy crap, why is your ringtone so loud?" Green gasped out after jumping a few feet in the air.
"Oh shut up. I'm sure Yellow and Blue can make noises louder than that with their redstone and potion hobbies." King shot back with a smirk.
"Hey, this is Detective Cornflower, the lead detective in your son's case?" A male voice on the other line said.
"So you got Purple's case."
"Yep. And I need you and his friends to head to Midnight's apartment."
King remembered seeing the teenager in an apartment building across from the park. "Yeah, we'll be there soon."
Cornflower hung up, and King gave the group of kids a look of hope.
"What'd they say?" Yellow asked.
"They might have a clue in Purple's whereabouts."
By the time King and the others got to Midnight's apartment, the place was crawling with police cars, and it took a while for them to make it into the building and to the actual apartment.
"Ah, there you are." Cornflower said as soon as he saw them.
"What'd you find?" Green asked with anticipation.
"Well, it's clearly been abandoned, and we found out he doesn't pay any of the bills here. It's all paid by one of his buddy's parents. Ruby was their name."
"There was a reddish kind of kid with him during the kidnapping. They were one of the kids who had Purple when we finally caught up with them." Green recalled.
"Perfect. So we've discovered that this has been a planned situation. I'd like to ask," He turned to King. "Do you know Midnight in any way?" Cornflower asked.
"Not really. I've seen him staring at the window looking down at the park a couple of times, but we haven't actually had any formal interaction." King answered.
"Aside from when you yelled at him for trying to grab Purple, which didn't go very well." Blue answered.
"True."
"So it seems he must have seen you with Purple on a few occasions, which explains how he knew exactly who you were and who Purple is." Cornflower noted. "Seems familiar with my daughter's case."
"Your daughter's case?"
"Midnight is a friend of sorts of my daughter Lilac. She's been missing for months, and we still haven't been able to locate her. Most of the public, however, is convinced that Midnight was involved."
"What color was she, just out of curiosity?" Second asked.
"A lightish purple."
Second snapped his fingers. "She was the other person holding Purple down." He said suddenly.
King couldn't really see it, but he noticed a gleam of hope in Cornflower's hardened stare.
He turned to another police officer. "Continue looking for any other parts of Midnight's plan and turn them in as evidence. The six of you will help us in this case. We'll study the plans as soon as they are fully collected. As the search party looks for Purple, we will look for clues that could lead us straight to the kids. Understood?"
"Yes."
Cornflower smiled at King and the others. "We will find him. I can promise you that."
Then he turned and followed the police officers into the apartment, leaving King and the others in the hallway with a new sense of hope that they could find Purple, maybe harmed, but alive.
