Forgotten Apologies Part Two

AN: I know its been a long time. I had lost my inspiration to write this story. Hopefully now its back.

"So what about Sam. Why was she good enough for Jason but I wasn't"

"Because she was good enough for me."

If looks could kill, Sonny Corinthos would be six feet under right about now as the petite brunette eyes turned black. Of all the condescending things he could have said, and he goes with…..

'SMACK'

Both Elizabeth and Sonny looked stunned.

"I guess I deserved that... " Sonny said as he touched his face to where he was sure he would see a handprint.

"YOU GUESS?!" Elizabeth didn't know when she got to her feet but suddenly she was in Sonny's face.

"Wait, let me explain." Sonny held up his hands to ward off any attacks. If you want to hit me afterwards, then go ahead."

Simmering Elizabeth gestured with his hand for him to continue.

"Sam was good enough for me because she was manipulative, deceitful and aggressive. She went after what she wanted and didn't' take no for an answer just like me. I basically passed her on to Jason, we shared everything else, including women until you came along.

"Is this because you never slept with me, is that where this is leading to" Elizabeth asked disgusted.

"No, its because he kept you away from me. You were the one thing he didn't share with me. I knew he took you on rides, and I know he moved you in to keep you safe but I never knew how serious things were. He always kept his relationship with you close to the vest, like you were too sacred and precious to talk about."

"You were jealous!" Realization dawned on Elizabeth and it just pissed her off more.

"Yeah, Jason and I were partners, yet he didn't feel like he could really talk to me about you. I knew the facts but that was about it. "

"Do you think maybe he was afraid you would try to take me away like you did Carly?" Elizabeth reminded him.

"I didn't think you knew about that."

"I knew all of it Sonny. He trusted me until your jealousy reared its ugly head and you did everything you could to shut me out. What is wrong with you? Do you realize the damage you have inflicted? If you had stayed out of it, none of whats happened the last decade would have happened! DO you realize that?

"Yes." Sonny said ashamed. "I am a miserable son of a bitch."

"Truer words have never been spoken."

They both sat in silence marinating on all that had been said. Elizabeth was fuming. Sonny's petty jealousy of her had ruined her relationship with Jason time and time again and she wanted his head on a silver platter.

"I am so mad I could hit you again." She said angrily.

"I would deserve it."

"I hate you." Elizabeth said, meaning it with every fiber of her being.

"I know, and you should….Do you think that there may be a time where you don't hate me?"

"I don't know if I can ever forgive you."

"I wouldn't expect you too, but I hope you can."

"Why?"

"Because we both love Jason and we both have screwed up where he is concerned and I know that if it wasn't for my actions all those years ago, you would have never needed to lie to Jason about knowing his identity. If it wasn't for me being a jackass who only cared about himself, you and Jason would be happily married with the kids all being Jason's."

Elizabeth could see that Sonny truly did believe what he was saying. The problem for her was that is was just words. Too many times she had been hurt by him. IF he was being serious, he needed to prove it.

"As nice as that was, they're just words Sonny. They don't mean anything unless you back them up with action."

"I know, I'm not the same man I was back then Elizabeth. Being in this wheelchair ( he pointed down at himself) has given me a new outlook on life and it has made me think long and hard about the choices that I have made over the years.

"I would believe you except I can't. You've always been a selfish man. You've already admitted that here tonight."

"I know I have a lot to prove to you, but I will Elizabeth. I am truly sorry for all the pain I have caused you."

Elizabeth looked at him and tried not to feel compassion for this man, but it wasn't in her nature. Besides if she was going to truly start to heal her and Jason's relationship, she should give his best friend a chance to redeem himself. But that was all he was going to get. One shot.

"I will give you one last chance to redeem yourself and a chance to earn my forgiveness. For Jason. However, if you screw up at all there will be no second chances. You and I will be done. Jason may trust you and love you but I don't. In fact, I can't stand you but for Jason I will try to forgive you."

"Its more than I deserve. Thank you."

"Don't thank me yet Sonny. As of this moment, you're on notice."

Elizabeth got up and stormed out of the QOA's leaving Sonny with his head in his hands.

Next chapter, Jason finally talks to Cameron. Will Cameron show the same compassion as his mother? Or will years of hurt finally have their day?
