[Ch4: Hoopa's story and connections]
They all hurried to get Hoopa to the nearest Pokémon Center as Baraz began to tell the story along the way. He told them how, a century ago, Hoopa just appeared one day at Dahara City through one of its rings and had tasted the food without paying. Wanting to repay the Dahara of a century ago for the food that attracted its attention, Hoopa gave the people gold for the food. The people of Dahara had made a home for Hoopa where in return for food, Hoopa was willing to grant wishes. That was until someone suggested to Hoopa that it should show how powerful it is by battling the strongest Pokémon to prove its strength. At first things were well with regular battles. But then Hoopa began to lose control and summon more powerful Pokémon, even Legendary Pokémon and causing damage to everything around it. That was until a man, named Ghris, was brave enough to approach Hoopa and used the Prison Bottle for the first time, took away Hoopa's power imprisoning it within the bottle. Confining Hoopa into the form that Ash and the kids saw today.
Hoopa chuckled nervously and asked, meaning its current appearance, "Were you surprised?"
The man, Ghris, in their story was actually the Great-grandfather of both Baraz and Meray.
They looked over their shoulders to look at the tower as Meray explained, "The site that Great-Grandfather Ghris made the Prison Bottle is where Dahara Tower now stands."
Baraz then showed them the necklace that he and his sister wore, and how it is to symbolize the power that connected their family to a particular Pokémon. Ash and the others stared, looking at the gold cross-like wheel. Ash felt as though he had seen that shape somewhere before, but can't remember where…
Clemont then shouted, "Ah!"
"What Clemont?" Ash asked confused.
Clemont borrowed Serena's booklet and swiped images before showing them a mosaic of a shape that Ash was definitely familiar with and revealed, "This is it! The Pokémon that ancient Scholars say shaped our world. The Alpha Pokémon-"
"Arceus!" Ash revealed the name of the Mythical Pokémon.
Baraz, Meray, and Ash's Kalos friends looked at the boy in surprise as the man asked, "Ash, you know Arceus?"
Ash nodded, "Pikachu and I met Arceus a last year in the Sinnoh Region. He was so angry about a betrayal that he wanted to destroy every human because of that. Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina then came to try and help us. Only… Arceus was still so powerful. But my friends and I, with the help of Dialga, went back in time and helped Arceus understand the truth enough to calm down. Saving its life."
Pikachu nodded, confirming what his friend was saying.
This news surprised them all. Baraz and Meray were trying wrap their heads around this. This boy was able to form a bond with the creator of their world? And he had formed bonds with the deities of Time, Space, and Anti-Matter? This was unheard of to them and they communicate with Arceus to use their family's power.
Serena stared, amazed, at Ash's summary of the story. Bonnie stared at her older friend with stars gleaming in her eyes. And Clemont was once again impressed with Ash.
Bonnie then looked back at the pendant that Baraz had and remarked, "It's true, the pendant is the same."
Coming out of his stun, Baraz then explained, "It was with that power that our Great-Grandfather was able to master that power and used it to make the Prison Bottle."
"But what about you and Meray?"
Baraz smiled looking at the youngest girl and explained, "Meray and I aren't at that level yet."
Meray became sheepish and admitted, "We're still in training."
Baraz then explained, "Great-Grandfather sealed away Hoopa's Power in the bottle, hidden the Bottle away, and then returned to his home with Hoopa. That was where we were born and raised. In Arche Valley."
Hoopa looked down remembering how angry it was when it came to Arche Valley with Ghris and how it tried to escape through its ring, only to learn that its new confined form seemed to prevent it from traveling through its rings like how it used to when it was Unconfined.
"You see it was very hard for Hoopa to understand the meaning behind its confinement." Hoopa was brought out of its memories, hearing Baraz's voice and flew over to the siblings as he said, "However, when we were born, we met Hoopa and became good friends with it."
The kids watched as Hoopa laughed, smiling at both Baraz and Meray. Remembering the good times, they had when the two humans were still children, even as Baraz said, "We played every day, like siblings do."
Meray smiled sadly as she admitted, "We put ourselves in danger too… Curious about the world outside Arche Valley, Hoopa and I tried to go out on our own… But soon, we got lost, and Hoopa got sick…"
Meray remembered it as one of the scariest things in her life… Hoopa got sick, Baraz came to find them and they had to camp out in a cave to make medicine for Hoopa. When Sunrise came, Hoopa was well again, and they stayed by Hoopa's side throughout the whole thing.
"We were able to make Medicine and stayed with Hoopa throughout the night until morning when it recovered, and we were able to find our way home. Our Great-Grandfather, Ghris, was relieved to see that we all were safe." Baraz explained, smiling.
Hoopa then exclaimed, happily, "Everyone nice! Hoopa love everyone!"
Meray hugged Hoopa to her and continued the story, "Although Great-Grandfather is no longer with us, we thought that now was the time for Hoopa to regain its true power."
"And so, I set out on a journey to find the Prison Bottle. But what happened earlier was the result of that decision." Baraz finished. He then apologized, "I am sorry for causing you trouble. Still, I want to do something for Hoopa."
Moving their conversation outside, Clemont asked, "So what are you gonna do about the bottle?"
"I'm going to take it back to Arche Valley." Baraz answered.
Hoopa held onto Baraz' shoulders and whimpered, "Hoopa scared! Bottle. Hoopa disappear!"
Looking at Hoopa, Baraz told it, "And that's exactly what I need to find out. I have to! You know that if I don't find the cause of this, you'll never return to your true form."
Hoopa looked at Baraz before flying to Meray, burying its face to her and exclaimed, "Then Hoopa WONT return!"
Ash watched, looking at them and was thinking about how things went for him in the past… Even though things had become dangerous, Baraz and Meray was still willing to try and help Hoopa, Hoopa refused to do so if it was going to hurt the siblings more than itself. Ash couldn't help but feel very sorry for Hoopa.
(Yeah... sorry for how short this chapter was...
I was actually trying to expand it without making it sound word-for-word as how it was explained in the movie. But I did find out somethings while researching Baraz and Meray's great-grandfather. His name really was Ghris, I didn't even know that till recently.
I also wanted to point out how Ash did indeed meet with Arceus from the 2009 movie after it was confirmed that the Pokémon anime movies from "Mewtwo Strikes Back" to the last movie of the Kalos Region are all canon to the Anime, despite what some people might think. There was proof, if you paid attention to some hints in the anime. Mewtwo's involvement in the gym Battle between Giovanni and Gary, the mention of Prof. Lund when a Deoxys showed up in that Ruby & Sapphire episode. The only movies that are not canon to the anime are "Pokemon: I choose you", "Power of Us", and "Secrets of the Jungle".
Ash and his friends now know the story behind Hoopa and why it was confined in the way it was. However, that's only the beginning of their troubles as they want to help Hoopa, but how? Especially when the bottle possesses those who come in contact with it?
