Beneath The Waves

Chapter: 4

Harmony couldn't say a word. She felt bad for what she did. Precedingly, Harmony was confused with the feelings that flooded her. ALL of what she did was forbidden! She couldn't-shouldn't fall in love with a mortal man. Would it actually consummate? How would Dean react to her quandary? Some earthlings were disgusted by mermaids. Would he be just another one in the category? Vacating would be best, but not unexpectedly. The hardest thing to do is to remain here.

After all, she came here to retrieve her sister and the vermin. Yes, a slim chance that her sister might be alive. It was arduous to focus. Harmony had never fathomed what 'safe' meant- until now. Subsequently, encountering Dean and Sam's path.

Dean didn't perceive why he was having these feelings for the woman he barely knew. He observed she had been through something dramatic and required their aid. It was odd, given the description of Harmony's sister was like the other women that had disappeared, without a trace. Dean also noted Harmony was hiding something from him. Yeah, people had their secrets as he did.

Harmony and Dean, both in abysmal thought and lying on the couch. Lastly, they soon fell asleep, embraced in one another arms.

Morning arrived, Sam awoke and stepped into the kitchen. Swiftly, he halted in his footsteps, from being stunned at the sight before him. There on the loveseat were two- half exposed bodies, covered in mid-way with a blanket; sleeping peacefully in each other's hold. Additionally, Sam cleared his throat loudly and repeated the gesture. Abruptly, Dean rose up, followed by Harmony.

"Sam?!" Dean implored.

"Yeah Dean?"

"Damn it!" Dean disclosed and whirled to Harmony and they both laughed. He included, "Oops."

During that time, Sam left the room to give them privacy to change. Once they were fully clothed, Harmony quizzed.

"Is there a library nearby?"

"You're sort of in one?" Dean affirmed and added. "A supernatural archive."

"That's what I'm looking for."

"You really think, this guy who kidnapped your sister is an actual monster?" Dean questioned, intrigued.

"I think so. Maybe. It's a hunch...Is there also internet access here too?" Harmony requested.

"Yep."

"And Dean?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you!"

"You're welcome."

"Dean?" Sam asked, he came back into the quarters.

Finally, Dean glanced in his direction, Sam motioned him to come next to him.

"Yeah?" Dean answered, as he strode towards Sam, where they address something privately.

Minutes passed; Harmony hadn't noticed the stillness of where she was in her own research. Suddenly, a clatter distracted her. Harmony peeped at where it was coming from. It was Dean who entered the den. He had converted into his blue suit attire. The sound she harkened was the type of shoes he wore that scraped the surface, as he walked.

"We need to leave for a bit. It shouldn't take long. Something came up that demands our attention. Will you be okay here? Alone?" Dean inquired.

Dean didn't like leaving her by herself with all she had been through and the fact she could still be in danger.

'Why the speedily hush rush? Are they like me, masking something inside as well?' Harmony wondered, perplexed.

Then, it occurred to her that he-they were federal agents. They are not allowed to discuss cases with the locals. Oh, she was a vernacular alright, deep down. Harmony smiled and stated.

"I'll be alright."

Dean nodded and in a breeze, he vanished from the lounge.

'That was weird, and I could feel the tight tension.' Harmony contemplated and brushed it off.

Sometimes her sixth sense could be a pain and play tricks on her at times. She hadn't mastered it on land, yet. Harmony went into the cookery to hunt for a snack of some kind.

One night, Harmony decided to take a bath. Unfortunately, it wasn't in her favor. She had been very careful around water and revealing her true physical makeup around the boys wasn't desirable.

Harmony gathered all her items for a cleanse. She turned the levers on to let water fill the tub.

Meanwhile, she was in cavernous mentation of what she and Dean had shared together.

'Was we a couple? Did he think we were?' Harmony speculated.

Briskly, the pipes broke and sprayed H20 all over her. Which had caused her to diverge into her ocean maiden structure. Doing so, it had made her plummet to the ground, where a heavy thump was heard.

Sam strolled by and apprehended the noise. He was determined to investigate. He knocked on the gateway. When no reply was uttered, he spoke.

"Harmony?"

"I'll be out in a minute. Um-just finishing up." Harmony verbalized, in a panic pitch.

If Sam's hunch was correct, he had to see for himself. He witnessed her strange actions around the clear liquid, and the excuses that just didn't add up.

Sam placed his hand on the doorknob and twisted it to identify it was locked. He paused.

In a hurry attempt, Sam rammed his body into the entry making it open and land off its hinges. Thereupon, he saw the view in front of him, which shocked him.

Harmony was seated on the floor and instead of human lower limbs. A long shiny turquoise tale was substituted. In a rapid movement, she seized a towel to dry it, as tears heaped her eyes. Harmony stared up at him and in a frightened tone said.

"Sam, please! I can explain."

"I'm listening," Sam vocalized, as he crossed his arms.

Then, he registered the agitation and fear that rose in her orbs. At that instant, Sam released them to his side.

Sam began to assist Harmony soak up the droplets on her tail to show hominid legs again. It was a long and slow process, as they abided by this. Harmony told Sam about her honest purpose here.

Harmony unveiled how she could also be regenerated by rubbing a lotion substance on herself, and when it hit her skin, it would transform her.

At first, Sam was distasteful to discern she carried dead sea nymph's blood with her, nonetheless Sam grasped it. It wasn't no different from what Dean and he packed around with them, just different material.

She commenced on to say, it was an emergency tool and figured it might help some.

Sam didn't like it, but understood her reasons.

"Dean can NOT find this out!" Harmony thundered.

"Harmony, you can't keep this from him! You know in the end, this only will make matters worse, for you and him."

"I know and I will tell him. Just not at the moment," Harmony responded.

At that point, Harmony realized it was just Sam who had stumbled in.

"Wait! Is Dean on an errand run?" Harmony exhorted.

"Yeah, he is, but he will be back soon," Sam riposted.

"Oh, okay." Harmony replied, appeased.
