Beneath The Waves

Chapter: 11

The next morning had been slow. Harmony had cleaned up a previous mess that a recent customer discarded. Thus, she veered behind the wall where she was well hidden. Transiently, Watson was stocking the supply closet.

Suddenly, the bells chimed, indicating someone had entered. Two visitors approached the counter, and they surveyed the area. Watson heeded and sauntered to meet them.

"Can I help you gentlemen?" Watson implored.

"Yes, you can. We are searching for a woman. Shorter than me. Brunette. Hazel eyes."

The other taller stranger retrieved a photo and placed it on the tabletop.

Harmony froze for she had been spotted. What would she do?

"Does this lady have a name?" Watson asked, as he pointed to the wallet portrait.

"Her name is Harmony."

Harmony swallowed the stubborn lump that was restricted in her trachea. The Winchesters had found her! Yet, it was befuddled to see them in their original clothing, while investigating.

"She might go by another title. Any luck that a chick with her description passed by here?" Dean interrogated gently.

"Let me ask you fellas this. Who are you? And what is your business with this, Harmony?" Watson urged, defensively.

'I'm not going to give her up to anyone who comes asking. It was odd for her to not come in to meet them.' Watson deliberated.

"I'm Dean and that's my brother, Sam Winchester." Dean relayed.

Directly, he nodded towards Sam's direction.

"John's sons?! Bobby's idjits?!" Watson rejoined, and smiled.

"You knew our father and Bobby?" Sam beseeched, curiously.

"Yes, we go ways back. Bobby guided me in a case years ago… Your dad was the individual who introduced me to the 'bumps in the night.' I am sorry for your loss. They were good men." Watson imparted.

"Thank you! They sure were," Dean cited and Sam jounced in agreement.

"How come neither one spoke of you before now?" Sam posited.

"I have no clue, really. Unless they didn't want any trouble to come my way. See, I had to watch my daughter become a monster and…Well...You get the idea."

"So sorry that had to happen to you."

Watson bobbled and included. "It was very hard. Still is."

"You're Watson?" Dean inquisitioned.

"That I am. How did you guess?"

"In Dad's journal, there's a paragraph about a man who he assisted. 'Monstrous Daughter' is what he called it. He proceeded on-he -us had not gleaned such a thing. It was more of a beware. Dad also put 'Watson' in quotation marks at the end," Dean revealed.

"Yes, it was strange what occurred."

"So, have you seen her?" Dean quizzed.

"You don't think she's-"

"No. We just need to speak to her."

"Ah! Yes I have…I didn't know John had a daughter? All he ever talked of was his boys." Watson mentioned, perplexed.

"He doesn't." Dean stated, puzzled.

At that instant, he recognized what she had executed.

"Really? That's interesting." Watson verbalized and catechized. "Harmony?"

"Yes, Watson?" Harmony responded, as she turned the corner to face them.

"These men might be the people you said were looking for you?!"

"Oh, yes! Hi guys! I'm glad you came!" Harmony replied, as she tried to be cheerful.

"Could we talk somewhere privately?" Dean requested from Watson.

"Sure. It's still too soon to open yet. The floor is all yours. I will be in the stockroom if you need me." Watson conveyed and departed.

"Harmony, what the hell?" Dean exhorted.

"Harmony, we're worried about you!" Sam added.

"I, I had to!" Harmony answered, and continued with. "I'll explain it, but not here! Please!"

"Alright," Dean vocalized in defeat.

"Hey Watson?" Dean claimed as he pinpointed him.

"Yeah?"

"Harmony will be leaving with us and-"

"And I will return in a few days. Something I need to take care of first." Harmony reported, as she interrupted Dean and glared at him.

In retrospect, Dean shrugged. "If that is okay with you?"

"Sure." Watson riposted and leered at Dean sternly warning not to hurt her.

The three darted outside of the shop and enroute where the Impala parked. Sam walked ventrally, while Harmony was behind Dean. Abruptly, Sam ceased in his footsteps. He cleared his throat and bobbed to the passenger side. Harmony followed his glaze and then she implied.

"Oh, I can't! It's-"

"I insist. Go ahead," Sam suggested.

Dean had halted at the driver side door, confused on what the discussion was.

After they all had climbed inside, Dean put the car in gear and took off down the road; the audible rumble behind them. Once they arrived at a deserted recreation region. Dean immobilized the Impala.

"Okay, Harmony. Now spill. Please!" Dean demanded.

Sam and Dean waited patiently as Harmony collected herself to announce Dean straightened up more to where he was in front of her, while Sam inched further closer to auscultate her.

"Take your time, Harmony." Sam gestured, softly.

Harmony peeked exteriorly at the windshield, as she gazed at the dead scenery before her. She breathed in and exhaled. Thereupon, she expressed.

"I should have told you this as soon as I realized what I was expecting."

"Tell us what?" Dean and Sam queried in unison.

Harmony turned to Dean. "It involves more of you than your brother."

Dean assented that he understood. In doing so, Harmony asserted.

"You all along had the choice of what the baby will become."

"WHAT?! And that is?" Dean implored, addled.

"Harmony, why don't you get a say in this?" Sam challenged.

"It's whether this wean…" Harmony abstained her words and positioned both hands on her stomach. "Our child to be human or mermaid. Once the decision is made, it's permanent."

"Okay...I still not sure how I-"

"Dean, it all depends on if you desire this kid-us in your life. If you don't, I completely get it. If you do, we'll remain here. If not, we go beneath the waves, never to bother you again."

"I don't want any adolescent, even mine, to indulge the same path Sammy and myself have been on. Harmony, you have to apprehend we didn't choose this viability for kicks. We do it for those in need or in danger. We don't covet no one else to go through what we have done," Dean declared.

"I do register the risks here on topsoil, and what you guys go through. However, have you guys thought about the perils underwater? I'm not sure which fairy-tale you have hark on?! It's nothing like that! Deep below the blue waves, so much is presumptive from you, tasks to be achieved properly. If you fail, death can be inevitable. If you are in exile, you are more fortunate. It's more rigorous when you are a Warrior's prophecy. You presume I prefer this. NO! The laws where I am from are sickening. I really don't wish to raise my-our offspring in such a venue. Up here on the terrain, it will be better. In order for this bundle of joy to be a mortal it must be born on an earth venue. I am willing to go through the pains and cravings that I will embrace, in order to make it easier on our little one. Another information fact, the infant will have some abilities as merfolk's such as an incredible swimmer, hunting skills, might be more. Until the youngster reaches a certain age- he or she will rapidly grow. Despite that, it's not immutable. I comprehend what it might sound like, I can assure you it isn't. My sole ambition was to find my sister's killer and retreat home to free my eponym. In remuneration, I have injected so much." Harmony affirmed, as she maneuvered for an inhalation. In further action, she conjoined this dialog.

"That's why I left. I couldn't be so heartless to take our newborn away from you. If I had to reside on groundward to have the suckling, so be it. In order for the lineage to have a chance of meeting his or her procreator, I would stay here either way. I wouldn't be selfish." Harmony desisted herself and contemplated when Dean had shared the history of his daughter, Emma. It was a sad phase in his quiddity. Nonetheless, Harmony perceived this posterity wouldn't be like her.

At that moment, Harmony stationed her hands on her lap.

"I second that. You should have admitted this from the start. Maybe things could have been fixed. I-" Dean remarked.

"Fix?" Harmony questioned, devastated and distressed.

"What Dean means is...Mend things." Sam suggested, as he noticed the shake in her tone.

"What's stopping you, Dean?" Harmony inquired lineal at him.

"A lot actually." Dean confessed in a velvety husky voice.

"Or is it the fear holding you back? Dean, don't push away something that you're not sure of, or something you desiderate. Fight for it! Don't let the primordial bind you!" Harmony commented.

"Wait- how do you know-?"

"Watson, sort of filled me in. What you had effectuated, the reason how you acted like you did. Dean, I understand. You tried in the past to make it work, except it didn't. I'm not just an ordinary female!" Harmony specified.

"How did Watson know that?"

"You idjit. Just because Watson had no intentions with this type of living doesn't mean Bobby and him didn't talk about it. Men are just as gossip as women. I also divulged Watson my story, and that I had fallen in love with you, Dean." Harmony blushed at that last sentence and alleged the succeeding.

"Watson went on to say with me in the picture with you and Sam things would be a subline kind of disparate."

"What makes you any different from any other dame that's been in my life?" Dean probed, hasty.

"Dean!" Harmony blurted and shook her cranium and casted at him.

At that instant, she displayed her dagger. "These! I didn't get them for my appearances. By the sweat and blood that was earned from them. I can sustain myself. Guys, we have some things in common. We are warriors, - venators of this world, and we clash to protect it. The only difference is you guys are from the land, while I am from the sea. Besides, normal women would perish if they had to do what I did. Sorry, it's just facts." Harmony disclosed.
