Chapter 1
So it begins...
Near a month and a half after Alphamons decision to reactivate the chosen children system...
The girl heard a crunch as her consciousness came back to her body. The feeling of leaves and grass breaking under her form as she moved her hands to grasp a handful of the decaying brush beneath her.
She hesitantly and slowly opened her bright green eyes, shaped like almonds, scanning the canopy of trees above her. Trees that most certainly were not like the pines that covered her homeland. These were tall tropical trees that reached far, far up above but were rather close together and shrouded everything among small clearings. Though she wasn't knowledgeable enough to know what kind they were.
She squinted as she slowly sat up, scanning the forest floor now. Covered in fallen leaves and beautiful purple flowers shaped like stars. Though they didn't seem to have a smell for how many of them were present. Some of the bases of the trees were covered in a thick red moss, with small mushrooms popping out here and there that curved out towards the sun above the trees.
Still groggy, the girl rubbed her eyes with a pale skinned arm and asked herself aloud, "Am I dreaming...?"
Her question would be answered by the sound of trees being smashed in the distance, which would quickly have her grogginess snap away as she scrambled to stand up from the disturbance. Her slim, rectangular form making a lot more noise on the crunchy leaves than she would have liked. The smashing was clearly coming her way however, to which fear began to fill her eyes as she took several slow steps backwards before starting to dash away from the noise at an angle. Hoping that she would eventually get far enough to its side that whatever it was would pass her.
She tried to run at a steady pace, but she wasn't athletic. She was someone who preferred to spend most her time inside away from people, quiet and alone. Her breathing got more and more erratic as she ran, but it did nothing to hide the closing in sound of the thing chasing her. A loud hiss coming far too close for her own comfort as her eyes widened, adrenaline pumping into her blood. Screaming to go faster than she was capable of. That if she didn't that it would be all over before she'd even had a chance to truly experience life.
This had to be a nightmare, right? A nightmare she would wake up from any moment now!
But she didn't wake as she fell a good foot into a clearing. Yelping as she fell and failed to catch herself, laying there as she closed her eyes when the thing burst from the trees. A massive green form flying above her and landing a few meters away. It's moments of being stationary allowing her to see what she could only describe as a giant mantis but monsterfied. With literal scythes for arms and a maw of teeth that did not belong on an insect.
She couldn't scream or yell for help as tears welled up in her eyes, the fear striking her throat ever so deeply as her chest heaved back and forth. The thing hissing as it turned towards its prey, antennae twitching on its eyeless head as it took a step towards her...
Only for it to let out an ear rending screech as it precisely used its talons to block the dive bomb of a massive wasp that seemed more machine than flesh. The new arrival rapidly jabbing its stinger towards the mantis monsters face.
The girl was still processing it, her round cheeks blowing in and out as she sucked in air rapidly while she tried to take in her good fortune. The mantis thing trying to slice the mechanical wasp from the air as it continually jabbed at the other creatures head with its bizarre stinger. It was clearly just infuriated rather than in any real danger, although it couldn't try to go after its prey again without being harmed.
A high pitched voice would suddenly yell to the girl, filled with a fear of its own, "Over here!"
Still half in a panic, she tried to follow the voice out of hope for the help from a fellow human being. Scrambling towards where she thought it was as the monsters fought one another. It felt as though the world itself was shaking, though that was probably just the sheer amount of terror coursing through her blood at the moment.
"N-not that way! O-oh dear..."
As if to respond to her going in the wrong direction, a piece of thread suddenly hit her leg and tripped her with an loud oomph. Followed by it gently trying to pull her, "Follow it! T-towards me! P-please hurry!"
Her mind was in too much of a frenzy to question the threads source as she got up and turned to go towards it. Taking a glance to see the mantis making another two insanely fast swipes at the wasp, with the other insect dodging in such a nimble manner that surely caused the mantis to miss by mere centimeters. So back into the woods she went, trying to put the two dueling monsters as far behind her as she possibly could, the silk behind her jolting for a moment.
"W-wait! Don't go so fast! Ahhh!"
Whoever was on the end of the silk thread was now screaming as they were dragged along by the panicked girl, her throat still tight with fear as she sprinted non-stop despite her nonathletic physique. Not wanting to stop for fear of more of those monsters coming for her.
It had to have been at least twenty minutes before she stopped running, maybe longer, or maybe she was just that far out of shape and it had only been five minutes. Taking deep gasps for air, she fell on her knees and hands as the tears slowed down now that the sound of the beasts fighting had faded. Which was followed by her falling onto her side and rolling over to face the forest canopy.
Those few moments of heavy breathing were then followed by a groan to her right. Responding to the noise, she slowly turned her head to face it, too tired to get back up as she felt another twinge of fear at the sight of the creature. It looked like a green caterpillar with purple nubs at the end of its limbs, but with the biggest, brightest blue eyes she had ever seen. Filled with a life that seemed both oddly adorable and eerily human.
Tears started to well up again as she begged whatever god was looking down on her to give her a break as the small creature rolled over onto its legs and looked at her with what seemed to be concern.
Then, it spoke with the voice of her presumed rescuer, "A-are you okay?"
She slowly looked back to the roof of the forest as she took it in for a few moments, "... No."
The creature slowly inched her, at least the girl assumed it was a her, way towards her and stopped by her side, "Are you h-hurt? I can try to... Um, bandage it until we f-find proper help."
The girl slowly sat up, trying to find her words as her mouth slightly opened and closed with her breathing. After some moments, she finally managed to get out, "I don't think I'm injured. Just... Confused. Still a bit terrified of everything that's happening."
The caterpillar slowly nodded up and down at her words before saying and asking, "We-well... I'm... I'm Wormmon. What k-kind of digimon a-are you?"
Now that her brain was starting to calm down, the girl noted two things about Wormmon. One, that the stutter probably wasn't normal and that she, too, was absolutely terrified. Two, by what gods name was a digimon?
"... I don't know what a digimon is."
Wormmon clearly didn't understand how she had no clue what a digimon was, but instead asked, "U-um... Maybe we s-should start with your name?"
"I uh... Guess so," the girl blinked, "I'm Cecilia Velvette. I'm human."
"Humon? I've never heard of humon before..."
"Not humon, human. H-U-M-A-N."
The 'digimon' blinked at Cecilia with her big blue eyes and took a moment to scan her over then. Cecilia was an average girl who seemed like she didn't see much sunlight. Her skin was a pale peach, with freckles lining both her arms and round, cherubic face. Her hair was obviously dark brown based on her bangs, but had been dyed a light blue from above her bangs all the way down to where her hair reached her waist. Her form was average and rectangular in shape, if not a bit overweight from laziness, with her breathing still being unpaced from running it was unused to. She was currently dressed in a blue sweater that was wrinkled and now drenched with sweat, her jeans having torn at the knees at some point, and her basic laceless red shoes were covered in the mud beneath the leaves of the forest floor.
As Wormmon looked into Cecilia's green eyes, it seemed to click in the digimons head, "You're a human!?"
On one hand, Wormmon's reaction implied humans were not normal here, on the other hand her knowing of her species at all gave her some hope for others to be here, "If you know what a human is... Does that mean there are other people here?!"
"D-don't be so loud!"
"Sorry... Sorry. It's just that-"
A loud crash interrupted her sentence, getting a whisper towards wormmon from her, "Where are we exactly?"
Wormmon gulped, at least what Cecilia thought was gulping, before whispering back, "I-I really don't kn-know, b-but I think i-it's full of s-snimon..."
"Snimon...?"
"The big green digimon you saw fighting waspmon earlier..."
"There's more than one...?"
"There's more than one of most digimon. At least I think..."
"Is your name not unique then...?"
The crashing coming closer had Cecilia roll over on her belly and lay close to the ground, hoping that staying still and low would cause the approaching noise to miss them, "L-lets address that later... How do we avoid them?"
"Uh... N-not moving I think? Or talking. Or making noise... Or..."
"I get it," Cecilia whispered back with a bit of a hiss, "Just lay down, stay still, and pray it doesn't notice us... Got it..."
Wormmon only nodded before snuggling up next to Cecilia and trying to stay perfectly still. The girl was a bit uncomfortable with the digimon coming that close like a pet, but didn't say anything for fear of the approaching noises.
Wormmon was correct, and after what felt like an eternity the duo could see a snimons head emerge from the brush above them. Just inside their peripheral vision, its jaw open and closing as its antennae twitched and its head tilted slightly towards them.
Cecilia gritted her teeth as Wormmon did her best not to shudder in fear of the far larger digimon. It's every movement threatening to topple more foliage around it, its head starting to move downward in a sluggish manner now.
As it slowly leaned down towards them, maw opening and fear filling both their souls at what was certainly about to be their doom. A high pitched "hyaaaaah!" filled the air as the snimon tried to quickly look up. Only to be met with a smaller, more human sized digimon dive kicking it on-top of its head. Sending the insectoid digimon stumbling backwards a few steps as the new arrival landed perfectly in front of Cecilia and Wormmon. Its legs were rabbit-like despite ending in large blue talons, with a yellow crescent on each thigh and its pelvis. Its chest area was blue separate from the light pink of the most of its body. Cecilia wasn't really sure how to describe its head beyond the bird-like metal helmet on its head, with all sorts of protrusions off its head besides the two large ears on top, not to mention the six bluish-purple tail-like protrusions from behind.
The new arrival glanced at the two to make sure they were alright, not saying a word as it clenched its gloved hands in preparation to fight the snimon.
Cecilia, realizing what was happening, quickly sat up and grabbed the much smaller Wormmon in her arms. Carrying her directly away from the new arrival and her foe. The snimon studying its much smaller opponent while clacking its jaw menacingly.
"Over here," a voice meekly said to Cecilia's right. She followed the voice, finding a boy of average height, maybe an inch under six feet crouched in the grass. He had concerned blue eyes that were rather soft, and a light tan skinned body of average build. He wore a black and white baseball tee, dark blue jeans, and simple black and white sneakers. Although a pair of blue goggles sat among somewhat shaggy blonde hair. Cecilia came over and crouched down next to him, gently placing Wormmon between them.
She then whispered, "Who are you?"
The boy took his time to think before he replied, coming across as a bit hesitant, "Jordan... Jordan Bennett."
She blinked at this apparent hesitance a few times before responding, "Cecilia Velvette."
She then looked to where the two standing off digimon were, now waiting for who was going to make the first strike, "Who is that facing the... Snimon?"
She had to take a moment to remember the mantis digimons name.
"My partner, Luna..." He responded, "She's trying to ward that snimon off."
She ignored the partner bit for now as she took in the stand off again. Now taking note of how Luna had taken a boxing stance. Knuckles facing the sky while keeping her fists level and arms tucked in readily. At the same time though, her back leg seemed ready to launch her if need be. The snimon on the other hand was clearly a predator considering its options, gently rubbing its blades together in a manner that showed it was considering if this prey was worth the trouble.
It slowly let out a high pitched hiss as it continued to rub its raptorial legs together, causing Luna to shift her eyes away for a moment as though aware of something about it.
A small crunch behind the hiding trio made Cecilia realize what that something was as she tackled Jordan out of the way of a massive blade that went above their heads. Missing by inches as a second snimon revealed itself in ambush before slicing where Jordan had just been. Wormmon yelping as she wiggled out of the way and began to cower.
Luna's eyes showed clear panic at this development, to which she attempted to leap back towards the second snimon. Only to be forced by the first to dodge a series of rapid slices and jabs. The rabbit-like digimon more than fast enough to keep up with the blows, but unable to get away from the obvious distraction by the predator digimon. All it would take is one direct blow to put her out of commission and both of them knew it, but she still had a hopeful weapon up her sleeve if she could just get another direct blow on its head...
Cecilia pulled Jordan out of the way as another direct slice came down, the creature clacking its jaw in a menacing manner. Clearly thinking it could take its time with this prey as Cecilia then dropped to the ground to avoid a sideways slice, tears lining her eyes again as her adrenaline began pumping once more. Followed by her and the boy rolling away from each other again as a diagonal blow slammed in-between where they had just been once again.
The snimon however clearly had an intended target as its moved to follow Cecilia, ignoring Jordan for the moment and allowing the boy to catch his breath as Cecilia had to spread her legs to avoid another blow before rapidly standing up to move backwards. She didn't have much more energy left in her at this rate, and both she and the snimon knew it. The digimon almost seemed to grin despite its carapace, lifting a talon to finish it...
Only to be met with an incredibly strong web of silk binding it to the trees, slowing down the snimons attack long enough for Cecilia to dodge again. The mantis digimon letting out an irritated hiss in response.
Wormmon stood behind the snimon, tears in her own eyes as she tried to take on a brave face, "Y-you won't hurt her while I'm still here!"
The mantis digimon was clearly annoyed by this, turning around and hissing at Wormmon, who let out a small "eep" in response. Followed by her immediately having to use her silk to boost to the side of snimon, trying to web up the blade in the ground. But failing miserably as all it did was slow down the mantis digimons blows. Forcing Wormmon to feebly attempt to dodge the snimons attacks, who realized that attempting dull blows worked better for beating the far smaller digimon around. Poor Wormmon having very little chance against the larger predator.
Cecilia however felt something at the small caterpillars display of bravery despite her terror, her heart knotting at the sight of Wormmon about to be felled by an irritated snimon as she didn't notice the odd device in her pocket start to glow.
"Wormmon! We... We have make it through this together! You saved me already so I have to pay you back! Please! Don't let it win!"
Wormmon was once more hit by the dull part of Snimon's blade as she yelled this. The hunter digimon aiming it so that it launched the small digimon high up in the air as the mantis began to ignore her in favor of its original prey: Cecilia and Jordan. So certain that its feeble target had been dealt with.
It missed completely as Wormmons body began to glow in tandem with Cecilia's pocket, Jordan noticing this and going, "You have one too?"
Wormmons body seemed to dissolve into visible ones and zeroes, the color and flesh leaving her body rapidly. Peeling away like paper from a board. By the end, only a wire frame that vaguely resembled Wormmon remained. This was followed the frame unfolding from seemingly nothing into the frame of a far larger insect than wormmon had been. Reds and greens immediately began to fill its form as the ones and zeroes returned en masse. Massive pincers becoming blatant alongside three taloned red limbs and a soft belly alongside massive red wings. Black filling in the detailed lines on her head and the soft spots on her limbs and stomach. All the damage she'd taken as wormmon completely undone in a matter of moments. The newly transformed wormmons wings began flapping immediately upon finishing as she began to dive straight at the Snimon approaching a backing up Jordan and Cecilia...
"Wormmon...! digivolved to...! Kuwagamon!"
The snimon barely had a moment to react as Kuwagamon body slammed into it from above. Acting as a distraction for the other snimon, who's head jolted to look at its partner, and giving the opening Luna needed.
"Moon Night Bomb!" The rabbit-like digimon yelled as she threw her fist towards the snimons head, a series of water bubbles firing like a bullet spray at the snimon with extreme force. Not only pushing it backwards, but apparently knocking it out completely by putting it to sleep as it fell over unconscious.
Cecilia blinked as this happened in a matter of moments, staring at Kuwagamon, "Wormmon?"
"Your partner digivolved! That's fantastic! A kuwagamon is exactly what we needed!" Jordan suddenly seemed to swap from his quiet self to rather loud. Though maybe that was just the excitement about the digimon getting to his head.
Kuwagamon used its top pair of limbs to pin the second snimons scythes while wrapping the second pair around the snimons torso. To which she began flapping her wings rapidly, lifting snimon off the ground to its obvious panic as they began to go higher and higher...
Kuwagamon threw the snimon at an angle towards its buddy, hoping that Luna would get the message as she then dove towards and smashed into its form with her new mandibles, launching it even faster at the first snimon.
Smashing into the first snimon with the second snimon, Kuwagamon let go and flew back as the two hostile digimon struggled to now untangle themselves. Each in a panic for different reasons as Luna pulled her arm back again before leaping upward so that she'd have a good angle on both snimon.
"Moon! Night! Bomb!"
She let out a larger spray of those same bubbles, absolutely soaking both Snimon in the hypnotic fluid. Both flailing for some moments more before collapsing into a knocked out heap, low hissing coming from the asleep digimon as Kuwagamon landed next to Luna. Silence taking over the area for several moments.
This was followed by Kuwagamon looking at her claws and freaking out, "W-what!? What am I?! A-am I stuck like this!? O-oh Yggdrasil. Oh Yggdrasil. Oh Yggdrasil..."
"It should wear off soon!" Jordan yelled up to her head as he walked up to them alongside a very confused Cecilia, "It's a temporary digivolution!"
Cecilia raised a brow at this, "A what?"
Jordan looked to her as he seemed to become a bit more meek again, which clicked for her what it was about him. He lacked confidence in himself, at least when it came to people, though she wasn't gonna dig at it or its cause since she didn't really know him well enough to do so.
"Er... Digivolution. It's what happens when a digimon takes on a new form... It's how they get stronger than the peak they would normally have..."
She slowly nods in response, "Okay... I guess that kind of explains it? Maybe..."
The two of them awkwardly stood there for several more moments before Kuwagamon made a suggestion, "P-Perhaps it would be best if I flew up and found a route for us out of the forest?"
Both would say at the same time, "Uh... Yes?" which caused another moment of quietness as the beetle digimon flew upwards to get over the treeline and see what was in any direction. Leaving the human pair and Luna there for now in awkward silence. Jordan not saying much and Cecilia being a bit socially awkward meant it took a few dozen seconds before the girl asked something.
"So... What kind of digimon is Luna then?"
"Oh! Right now she's Lekismon, but normally she's a digimon called Lunamon."
She nods again, taking subtle note of his confidence regarding digimon, as she looks to Luna, "Right... She doesn't seem to say much."
"She's doesn't really like to talk too much, she's really a lot more about actions... Though she doesn't really like to fight either."
Cecilia blinks at this before rubbing the back of her head, "Then...?"
"I uh. Kind of jumped to save you and your partner. We couldn't just leave you, even if I can't fight digimon myself, Luna can."
"Would have preferred if snimon had fled," Luna would suddenly add before Jordan could continue. To which the boy simply nodded.
Cecilia crossed her arms as she looked upwards to check if she could see Kuwagamon above the treeline, "Well... Thank you both for the help."
It then hit her about the bit about 'partners, "What did you mean by partners though?"
Jordan pulled out an odd device that was semi-round but with edges that curved inward, a stubby antenna on one corner, with three large buttons, and a screen that had odd symbols around it. It was colored rather blandly, simply gray although the buttons were blue.
"This is a digivice, at least according to Luna. It means we've been 'chosen' for something and given partners to help us."
Cecilia blinks as she looks to him again, "Wormmon didn't seem to know anything about that."
"The old tales speak of the 'Chosen Children'," Luna would give her a simple and quick answer, "Not all digimon know of them."
Another blink before Cecilia rubs her hair, "Makes sense I guess..."
Jordan would then nervously ask, "Um... Would you mind checking your pocket by the way?"
Cecilia tilted her head at this one.
"Okay but its just my pho-"
Cecilia stared at the odd device in her hand that she'd pulled from her pocket, which she assumed was her digivice. It was definitely different than the one Jordan had though. It was more like a remote, a really thick remote at that with a gray main body. The screen was similar to that of the digivice Jordan had, with the rectangular screen surrounded by the black circle with odd symbols. However, it had a secondary ring around that that was a sky blue in coloration. Two of the buttons were placed below the screen on what seemed to be a circle pad and the third on the edge of the outer ring. On top was a strap as sky blue as the colored ring, which made it easy to attach it to one of the belt rings on her pants.
As she did this though, she looked to Luna to ask, "Are there different types of digivices?"
The lekismon simply shrugged without a verbal response this time when a glow began to overtake her form and she began to shrink. Though at this point, Cecilia's adrenaline had gone through enough that she didn't react like she did to the snimon or when Wormmon turned into Kuwagamon. Luna's form was only at about Cecilia's knees once it finished. It was an oddly adorable digimon that didn't seem to have a real world equivalent in her mind. With what looked like a single hair poking from her cherubic head alongside having what she assumed to be massive ears off the top of her head and sides. Decorated with swirls of blue. It's little 'dress' and arms had the same crescent symbols that Lekismon had had on her body. Strangely enough, Cecilia had an odd feeling that this digimon was missing something, but she couldn't put her finger on what since she had never seen it before.
She then asked the obvious, "This is Lunamon?"
A simple nod from Jordan as Lunamon walked up to and tugged on his pant leg. The boy crouching down so the digimon could climb into the bookbag he had. Though Cecilia didn't say anything about this rather adorable action.
A few minutes of even more awkward silence would follow this as they waited for Kuwagamon to come back. Cecilia twirling her hair in her hand while Jordan went into deep thought. Allowing both of them privacy in their own thoughts about this situation. It would be a bit before the loud buzzing of beetle wings provided a thankful end to the awkward standing around as Cecilia waved for her apparent partner to land next to them.
The giant red beetle, closing her wings, leaned down and pointed in a direction, "There's an open plain that way."
She then pointed another way with another arm, "That way just goes deeper into the forest. Which I don't recommend if it has more snimon."
With her last two limbs, she pointed straight behind the two humans, "I kind of think we should head this way. I couldn't tell fully, but I think I saw signs of a bonfire that way."
"It sounds good enough to me, though..."
Cecilia looked to Jordan, "Do you um... want to come with us? Being in a group would definitely be better than traveling alone if there are more groups of snimon like those two. I know we just met and fought together and its been a bit awkward but..."
She shrugs to the two still conked out mantis digimon, signaling again about the dangerous digimon. Only for the glow of de-digivolving to come from kuwagamon, with Wormmon suddenly landing on the girls head. Half knocking Cecilia over with the fall.
"S-sorry!"
Cecilia would slowly take Wormmon off her head and hold her in front of herself, looking into the digimons deep blue eyes, "It's... It's fine. I... Don't think its your fault."
Gently setting the caterpillar-looking digimon on the ground, she rubbed her head gently before looking to Jordan and awkwardly asking, "So... Would you come with us?"
Jordan seemed a little hesitant at first, maybe caused by a lack of trust, before simply saying, "Um... Sure."
Luna was peaking over her partners shoulder, but gave a sense of quiet approval. Which was fine by Cecilia as she looked to Wormmon and wondered, "Uh... Do I need to carry you, Wormmon?"
Wormmon seemed to take in just how small she was compared to the two humans, to which she thought about it a few moments before responding, "Maybe?"
Cecilia sighed, realizing she shouldn't have bothered setting Wormmon down before crouching to pick her back up. The digimon saying in response to being held gently by her, "This is actually kind of nice..."
The girl looked to Jordan, ignoring that her legs felt like sore rags, "Ready to roll? Wherever we're going?"
A simple nod as he kind of glanced away, to which she shrugged and began leading the way, "As long as we leave the giant mantis monsters behind."
It was a quiet few minutes before Cecilia would realize something however, to which she looked down at Wormmon and asked, "Hey. By the way, I half-asked earlier... Your entire species shares your name right? All of you are named Wormmon?"
"Well... Kind of sorta?"
Cecilia let out a low hum of thought for a moment before asking, "Then how about I call you... Wormy?"
"W-what? N-no. Please. Please don't. That's horrible."
"Aw, alright. How about..."
Cecilia stopped and actually took the time to think this time, half glancing at Jordan. Though this didn't get any response, as he seemed to be deep in his own thoughts while Luna had fallen asleep in his bag in the short time they'd been walking.
She then looked down past Wormmon, still thinking as she stared at the earth before it hit her.
"Avani."
"Huh?"
"How about Avani? Do you like it?"
Wormmon took a bit to ponder on it before responding with a simple, "Sure?"
This got a smile for the girl carrying her, who simply then said, "Well. Hello, Avani!"
...
"Pacing will do no good, Alphamon," the strategist knight Leopardmon watched as Alphamon paced back and forth. Blonde hair disheveled compared to the normal as it emerged from the brown helmet that resembled his namesake. Dynasmon had his arms crossed and was leaning against a wall though his eyes were focused on the two humans and a rather human-looking digimon by them. He however maintained silence as Alphamon and Leopardmon spoke.
"I know, but still I..." The head of the Royal Knights took a deep breath, " The system sent two of them to Siligold valley and two others even further to Disk-fog forest. The worst could occur yet again and we have yet to even-"
"Alphamon," Leopardmon interrupted him, "Take a few moments to calm yourself. Clear your mind of these thoughts. The system worked within range of what we had hoped with such short term changes. None of the chosen are within range of the foes armies and the only threat to them are those digimon that operate on instinct. Of which those in Siligold valley are sure to aid the humans who arrived and Craniamon volunteered to go get them. Omnimon personally went to retrieve those sent to the forest, of which I am certain they will move away from the center where the worst threats lurk. Their digimon should be more than able to handle any digimon in the outer rings. For now, we should focus on the two who have arrived here. Not to mention..."
Leopardmon looked to the two humans and the digimon, "That to think two of the inheritors of the spirits would be found just by summoning you two here."
The first human was a woman who must have been twenty at least. She was only a few inches shorter than the man to her right, likely around five feet four inches(165 cm). She had almond-shaped brown eyes, and had shoulder-length dark brown hair that reached just to her shoulders. Her body was rather slim in comparison to most. With her skin being like that of a tan peach. Her outfit simply consisted of a white tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and basic white sneakers. In her hand, she held her own digivice, which was ovular but had a similarity to a old portable game console or cell phone. It had a hexagonal screen, with three buttons in the center front and a large one on the left side. With a large portion of it being colored different from the rest on the right side due to a grip. The body was primarily green with that grip being an average shade of blue.
What was truly interesting about her however were the two odd statues in front of her. The first was glowing bright white, but one could see that it resembled a statue of a fairy with her face hid in her knees. The second resembled that of a legendary harpy, shoving her chest out to the sky as she either curled back to free fall backwards or take flight. It too glowed, but not quite as strongly. With her digivices screen seemed to be reacting with the statues glow, its screen apparently anticipating some sort of input.
The second human was a boy in his late teens, maybe seventeen years old. With black hair that he wore in a ponytail that hung to the nape of his neck. His eyes too were almond-shaped and brown like the womans. Of which he stood maybe three inches taller than her at around five feet seven inches(170 cm). His skin was colored tan, and his body was rather cut. Making it obvious he'd done something to build his body's musculature up in the past. Around his neck was a pair of dogtags. He wore a red tee, a white jacket, khaki pants, and simple blue and white sneakers.
His digivice was similar to the womans, but with a black body, a red grip, and the buttons being blue and silver.
The digimon looked like a pale skinned blonde man with blue eyes that screamed he was a warrior. His hair spiky and reaching to his waist. His armor seemed to be based on that of a dragon, with his bright red mask hiding most of his face. The two horns jutting to the sides helping his hair, and a center one keeping it from falling forward. He wielded no weapons, and simply had his armor. The rest of his armor was primarily red and gold, though odd symbols appeared here and there.
Alphamon nodded at Leopardmons words, "... You're right."
He sighed before stepping forward to speak to the two humans, "I apologize for being in such a state. Under normal or desirable circumstances, I would try to maintain a more dignified stance, but I worry deeply for your fellows. Despite the fact I know you both have a great many questions that have yet to be explained beyond what Leopardmon has told you."
"That's fine. My questions can wait till these others get here," the boy would say, "Being concerned about others is a sign of a good soldier and leader."
It was hard to tell if he was being perfectly honest though, his face expressionless and guarded.
"Ziss zeems to ve a very bizzare zituation ," the woman responded with a strong accent, "Vut I do vunderstand zat zere are thoze who needz help from uz. Zat iz good enough for me."
Alphamon nodded, "Thank the both of you."
"If you both are truly willing to aid us in our conflict, and will wait to ask your questions for when the other chosen arrive. Then all I ask is that you listen to Leopardmon's instructions closely for now. It will help the both of you in the coming days."
Both of them simply nodded as the armored digimon crossed his arms.
"Alizee Moulin. Kyou Kagita. Agunimon. You three are the first of the chosen the Royal Knights have called to aid us. I once again thank the both of you for being willing to hear us out despite the sudden nature of the call, and it is my hope that we can earn your trust as you earn ours. The coming days will be rough, but I have no doubt that you will forge powerful bonds to lead us through the coming darkness and beyond to a better world. I hope that when the others arrive, that you are able to learn of and earn their trust as well. If you are ready, Leopardmon will begin your individual trainings."
"May the guidance of Lord Yggdrasil guide us all to better times."
Authors note
And end for chapter 1. A little average length at a bit above 5,000 words. Hopefully I can get it up to around 6 to 8,000 words per chapter in the future so that we can focus on more than just one group at a time.
FFN and its lack of formatting still mess me up so please tell me if there seems to be a major formatting issue. I had trouble getting the file to upload properly this time and had some weird errors show up that looked like this: indent: she 374, repeat space. Got rid of most of them just by reuploading two times and hopefully edited the rest out.
That said, we've met four of our heroes in this chapter. Cecilia Velvette(from yours truly), Jordan Bennett(From Tomoe Mami), Alizee Moulin(from Singoffan) and Kyou Kagita(From ZAFT Convoy). Two we have yet to meet are somewhere in a valley, and both Cecilia and Jordan are lost in a potentially lethal forest. The seventh is also with the RK already.
That said we still have a Demon Lord submission slot open. Though I ask that those who have already gotten a slot not submit again, as per the one OC per person rule. Those who submitted but got repealed, feel free to try to get the last DL slot if you want. Just please remember the rules of submission.
I also ask that you all please stop sending me Royal Knight submissions. All those slots are filled.
I'd first like to apologize because I kind of realized asking for weights was a tad pointless compared to heights. Especially since digimon usually do not care what weight you are when it comes to just yeeting you into next week.
I've had a few folks ask me about updates, my main goal is hopefully to be on Wednesdays. I'm hoping having a due date keeps me on my toes regarding updates.
As for those concerned about accents(there's always a few), while I did get a few submissions with accents. I'm only going to do them for one or two sentences just to tell if they have an accent or not. Otherwise, I won't use them so as to not have to make you all try to figure out what a character might be saying. The reason I do this is because of a past experience where I had far more readers complain about the presence of the accent than the absence of it. Through this method, I can show they have an accent while also not causing too much strife in my readers.
