Chapter 6
Symptom
"A shame we cannot activate the tankdramon's striver cannons for fear of hitting ourselves."
"Indeed," Examon scratched his chin with his free talons as he observed the results of an attack that he had single-handily repelled from one of the demon lord armies. Devastating amounts of water and mud filling the newly made slashes into the earth he made with his lance, "If it were any other knight, that insane strategy may have actually worked. Artificial tsunamis and mud-slides to try and force us off our plateau would certainly work well against the knightmon legions my battle brothers use, but we are not knightmon."
Cyberdramon was the one speaking with Examon, the dragon-man digimon having his arms crossed, "I did not expect Beelzemon's legion to attack on their own without Lilithmon's legion to back them up."
"It was only a strike team disguised as an army, do not let your guard be lowered," Examon would respond as he observed where the Tankdramon line was facing, a massive scar in the earth where a fresh hole into the rock had been carved, revealing the remains of a number of holes that had been dug from below, "I only brought so much ammo to load Ambrosius with, and I would prefer not to waste it's shells on strike teams and weathering long distance attacks. That said, I do recognize this sort of work from the reports our scouts brought to us from the borderlands to the North where Pseudocode castle once stood. The demon lord's allies call him "The Counter Tactician", they say he or she specializes in eliminating enemy armies through unusual tactics that confuse and befuddle."
"Which we just happen to be resistant to as a dragon-based army with a variety of our own," Cyberdramon would respond, "Sounds a stroke of luck to me."
"I doubt it," Examon would respond, "I would place a piece on that Beelzemon's forces acted without the aid of their fellow legion. This clearly still works to their benefit, despite my wariness of why Lilithmon would not attack with them."
"Milord?"
"I initially planned on moving us backwards slowly away from their camp until we were a sufficient enough distance away for the tankdramon to simply bombard their camp into ash with their nuclear armaments, but with the mudslides they just dropped, we've been put into a situation where we cannot withdraw without leaving our civilian aids behind, and now we have only two routes to move through."
Cyberdramon would piece it together, "Thus leaving us with only the option to continue defending here..."
"Tell all units to brace themselves, the time of battle approaches us. We will hold this position, prevent our foes from crossing, and send their mongrel hides back to their lords in pieces!"
…..
"Your forces were supposed to wait until I arrived! Instead, you've begun a siege process against one of the worst Royal Knights to do so against! They may even realize that it is not Lilithmon's legion that has come to fight them, but mine by using those from my legion that arrived early!"
"To be fair, you're as slow as ever, Leviamon."
The digimon demon lord of envy, Leviamon, was alligator-like in appearance. The bulk of his body was covered in bright red scales, his underbelly colored yellow, though one would be quick to notice the length of his monstrous maw, filled with teeth and muscle that threatened to swallow the digital ocean, black carapace providing hardened defense on his head while two sets of blue fins followed down the sides of his body to his end, where they divided off along two tails that threatened to blow over mountains.
However, Leviamon had compressed his data, shrinking himself to a size that wouldn't be blatantly obvious to his foe, and making him appear more comical than he would at a far larger size. Though only a fool would laugh in the face of a demon lord, much less the envy-driven Leviamon.
Across from him was the demon lord of gluttony, Beelzemon had his arms crossed, appearing dressed like some sort of extreme biker in an enormous amount of leather gear. The three eyes one could see under his purple bird-like helm clearly not caring much for what Leviamon had to say, the red bandana on his arm was notably damaged and his blonde hair cut short for what Beelzemon's normal length would be. His rat-like tail was swaying behind him, indicating his calmness despite the irritation of his fellow demon lord. The armor that covered the lower-half of his arms was jet-black rather than silver, and he lacked the spines that would normally erupt from the front of his boots most beelzemon had.
Leviamon growled at Beelzemon, "You don't seem to be taking this seriously."
"Trust me, I am. You're just too angry to see it."
Another growl, "Then I suppose you won't mind that my request to Lucemon for her aid has been accepted?"
Beelzemon's eyes widened slightly as he uncrossed his arms, "Look. We don't need Lucemon's favorite to upset the kid. Just let me and Arshan handle this, we can-"
"No," Leviamon cut off Beelzemon as he narrowed his eyes at him, "I had hoped to work well together with you, Beelzemon, when Lucemon announced we together were to defeat Examon. After all, you and I do come from a similar cloth, but it seems that things will require an overview for the both of us. Milana! You may enter!"
Both demon lords would careen their heads as a human woman entered, obviously in her early twenties and of great beauty. Her flowing black hair gently waved behind her, reaching down to her calves while her long bangs formed a M on her forehead, with them being dyed a light gray. Her peach-skinned body was curved like an hourglass, with above average proportions that drew the eye like a diamond. Her narrow light brown eyes held a confidence like no other, nearing the point of pure arrogance as though she knew she were perfect in mind, body, and soul. Even the small mole under her left eye seemed only to compliment her as she strode in. Her dark blue coat reached down to her knees, shifting a bit with every step, with it open, one could see the dark gray crop-top t-shirt she wore underneath, exposing her toned stomach for the world to see. Her jet black pants were pulled a bit high, a gray belt pulled around far below her waist, held by its own strength and the edges of her pockets. Around her neck, she touched the sky blue bandanna she had wrapped, which seemed to hold some sort of sentimental value for her. Her digivice was not visible, likely in her pocket away from sight.
She placed a hand over her chest as she moved it away from her bandanna and bowed to both demon lords with a kind smile, "Lord Leviamon. Lord Beelzemon. General Milana Velvette and her partner Spline are yours to command."
Beelzemon glared at Leviamon before then saying to Milana, "Don't call me lord."
"Of course, Beelzemon."
Her politeness was irritating to Beelzemon, he hadn't interacted much with Milana since her summoning twelve months before, but something about her always rubbed him the wrong way whenever he did see her. Maybe it was because she always seemed like too much of a perfect hero to him: she was partnered to one of a digimon considered by many to be a pinnacle of strength, her personality was exceedingly kind to her allies and her intelligence on a level beyond most humans, her strategies made even those of his own strategist look like a joke in how few flaws she could produce in them despite her explanations being rather bare bones. Her seeming perfection clearly hid something under the surface, something he'd especially noted when anyone brought up the mention of her life back in the human world. He had guesses about her reactions when her fellow chosen prodded about her life back there, but it was nothing he ever acted on, since he'd rather avoid her.
He was gonna get Leviamon back for involving her in their operation at some point.
"May I ask where Arshan and Katrina are? I brought Katrina a new book on insectoid digimon, and I wished to have a discussion with Arshan before the attack."
Beelzemon realized Leviamon hadn't told her about their preemptive strike on Examon's forces yet either, which made him want to pull his Berenjena shotguns and blast his fellow demon lord into oblivion right there, though he knew all it would do is piss off the monstrous digimon.
"Unfortunately, BZ allowed Arshan to strike before either of us had arrived in an attempt to end this faster," Leviamon said BZ with an extreme amount of venom as he spoke, "There are now two canyons filled with mud and water on either side of their encampment."
"Ah, I see. Arshan treated Examon and his army like one would a classical field, which may have worked on someone like Crusadermon or Craniamon," she put her arms behind her back and stood straight, "May we take this to a strategy room, milord Leviamon? Milord Beelzemon?"
"I told you not to call me..." Beelzemon groaned, "Forget it. I'll just have Wizardmon go get Arshan and Coro, and Witchmon go to retrieve Kazuchimon."
"I will call Kat, Lily, and EXO Grimmon to meet us there," Leviamon would respond.
"Thank you, milords, I shall meet you there," she was already slipping out of the tent as she said this.
Beelzemon would glare at Leviamon again, "We could have settled this without her here."
"You could have waited till I got here before attacking," Leviamon replied with a grudge on his tongue and the tone of a child, "But noooo. You have to do things by yourselves because you're the Hagith legion. No help needed from your ole friend Leviamon, just gonna borrow some of his forces without saying a word to him about it."
Beelzemon growled this time as a headache started to enter his head at Leviamon speaking, "Let's just get this over with already."
…...
Alizee would yawn as she sat up and looked around her room, mostly empty except for a desk covered in various items for artistic usage including paints, clay, notepads, full size canvases, pens, and all else. A dream come true for any artist to be given such materials for usage in her free time without a euro spent, though she hadn't been given much free time beyond simply sleeping so far, and as such everything still seemed new and unused.
As she prepared to leave her room and go to the training grounds for the day, the thought passed her mind about how her training was going to be that day. She was aware that Dynasmon was not going to be her trainer for the day, and she was somewhat hoping that Leopardmon would be much less aggressive about her training than her normal teacher was.
As she opened her door however, she'd be met with none other than Dynasmon standing there, the girl blinking for a moment as she looked up at him, "Dynasmon? Why are you not in your chamber resting?"
Dynasmon's eyes averted her for a moment before he simply responded, "Your training."
Alizee crossed her arms as she looked him over, white bandages covering some of his larger wounds while other spots had already filled with data, though they appeared like rather odd wire frame spots with a near-transparent layer of color over them, "You're supposed to be resting."
"Making sure you're ready for your future battles is my priority."
She furrowed her brow at him, "Your priority should be your health."
His eyes averted hers again as he then responded again, "I wish only to ensure that your potential is reached."
"That is... Kind, but as I said. You should be resting over all else."
Dynasmon grunted, "I can still observe you and guide your movements. I do not wish for Leopardmon to-"
"Dynasmon," Alizee's voice was strong and full of the voice of youth, "Please. Go rest."
The wyvern knight's eyes focused on hers for a moment before he responded hesitantly, "As you wish."
Alizee would watch him walk away down the hall, a look of worry striking her face as she could see him visibly limping, all the more an indicator he should have been resting.
The young woman would sigh as Dynasmon disappeared around the corner before quickly beginning to make her way to the stairs to head to the training area. Compared to the other chosen, her room was perhaps the closest to the courtyard they used for training, making it easier for her to get down there than most of the others, who would have to rush if they slept in later as she did.
As she turned the final corner off the stairwell into the hall, she'd hear the sound of groaning coming from the stairs that led down into the training area.
Turning, she'd find Cecilia sprawled out, soaked in sweat, and breathing rather heavily as a concerned Eyesmon nudged her, "I can't keep going... I wasn't made for this much exercise..."
Alizee blinked at her before looking to her left, where Victor had his arms crossed and an unimpressed look was on his face, Kyou was on the ground next to Victor, currently in the middle of doing what seemed to be a ridiculous number of push-ups. The boy's body soaked in enough sweat to start making a pond, Jordan was next to him as well, but much like Cecilia had given in to exhaustion. Sif was currently rubbing her nose bridge, as though something dumb had just happened.
"Um... Perhaps you are driving them a tad hard, Victor?"
"Non-sense! The passion of youth has hit me in its fullest way!"
"You're only twenty-two, Victor," Sif would say as her grip on her nose increased.
"He... also... won... the bet," Jordan would wheeze out those words as Kyou collapsed as he said number four-hundred-eighty-three.
Alizee would simply ask, "Bet?"
"Kyou challenged Victor to a bet on who could do more push-ups," Sif would respond before letting loose a deep sigh, "As you can see. The other two were dragged into it, and Victor finished several minutes ago at seven hundred."
Kyou just let out a groan as he let his face rest against the concrete, his arms like jello.
"I only got... To thirty-three," Cecilia would wheeze as Eyesmon continued to nudge like a puppy wanting attention.
Jordan would simply respond, "forty-five..."
"That... Seems like over-reacting," Alizee would note to those two compared to Victor and Kyou before looking to Victor, who had a smile on his face that seemed rather odd to the young woman, as Victor always seemed so serious most of the time, though maybe that was because of how serious the situation had been over the past few days.
She would then note there were still two chosen missing, "Where are Clive and Ryu?"
Victor would answer for her, "Clive's getting strategist training from Craniamon on his own, and Ryu and Tiamat were excused because of last night."
"I see..." Alizee would then look to her right down the stairs where Leopardmon had Avani, who was currently still a wormmon, training by spraying out silk shots at targets.
Blaze was, as usual, being thrown into the ground by Leopardmon. Unknown to the group, the agunimon had asked Leopardmon not to hold back, and was being essentially throttled by the royal knight, who's skills would devastate even most mega level digimon.
Black, as black KnightChessmon, was currently doing agility combat training alongside Luna, who was in the form of lekismon again, the two constantly firing off special attacks at each and dodging. Though Black's dart notably had a safety cap placed upon it, obviously to keep her from cutting up Luna on accident.
Leopardmon throwing Blaze over his shoulder and slamming him into the dirt once again would have him notice the new arrival, to which he yelled at her, "Ah, Alizee! Transform into Kazemon and come down here with Cecilia would you?!"
Alizee nodded, "Of course!"
She would then take a deep breath before taking her digivice, which began to glow as a band of data appeared around her hand, the young woman using her digivice to scan it, speaking aloud, "Spirit evolution!"
The color of her body quickly flowed away as though the wind dragged it off of her. Her form a wire frame just like a digimon as her body produced the massive butterfly wings of kazemon, her height increasing a number of inches before the miniature wings burst from her head followed by her hair bursting to life to match the legendary warriors. Unlike most digimon however, Kazemon's outfit would appear on her form from seemingly nothing, fully colored already as the digimetal visor appeared over where her eyes would be. The peach and purple colors of Kazemon's frame then flowed in, finishing her appearance as a burst of wind announced her finishing her change.
"Kazemon!"
Cecilia slowly sat up and blinked at Alizee, Alphamon had mentioned in the meeting a few days before that Alizee could transform into a digimon rather than having a partner, but actually seeing it was something else to behold. The girl would make a comment on the wind digimon's outfit however, "Isn't that... Kind of... Um, suggestive?"
"A bit," was the response she got before Alizee would offer Cecilia a hand to pull her up onto her feet. Cecilia taking deep breaths to try and catch herself before slowly following Alizee down the steps, though the kazemon floated down them rather than simply walking.
Leopardmon would put a hand up for Blaze to stop, "Take a break while I set up Alizee and Avani for their training."
A nod from the agunimon before he went and began to stretch in preparation for his training continuing as Leopardmon called Avani over to meet her tamer and Alizee.
As the group stood before the royal knight, Leopardmon would detail the days plan, "Originally, I had planned on Dynasmon training both of you. With him currently on bedrest however, I intend to have you do as Black and Luna are, a mock battle between the both of you to get a taste for battling in the sky. However, Jordan has told me you are having trouble using your digivice on Avani, so I would like to first help you learn that."
He would receive nods from his three students as he took a breath.
"Now, pull out your digivice, we're going to artificially attempt to digivolve Avani into kuwagamon."
Cecilia would do as asked as he continued to speak, "Press both buttons together for a few seconds before pressing the button on the edge of the ring."
Cecilia would do so, followed by a port popping open on top, underneath the strap, though nothing happened, "Er... Did I do something wrong?"
Avani would tilt her head, "Maybe it's like Jordan said and you're not faithing hard enough?"
"H-hey! I do have faith in our bond!"
"It's nothing either of you are doing," Leopardmon would walk over and take the digivice from Cecilia, looking it over, "Your digivice isn't activating for some odd reason. It clearly has power, but it's as though something is blocking it from activating..."
The royal knight would fiddle with the device for several minutes, Cecilia poking her fingers together awkwardly as Alizee fidgeted with her hair, while Avani began to hum an odd tune to herself about digimon. The nothingness would only become more and more awkward until Eyesmon suddenly popped up behind Cecilia, it's eyes focusing on the digivice and letting out a pleased growl as though receiving something.
Avani would then suddenly begin glowing alongside Cecilia's digivice, which seemed to act in resonance with her as Leopardmon let out an, "Ahah!"
However, as Avani's colors left her body, her wireframe did not grow in size. Instead beginning to shift shape immediately as her body became more upright while her abdomen turned into a long and thin tail. A set of whiskers burst from her face as two large ears burst up to replace her antennae, three tufts of fur appearing on the end of each. Her limbs fused together to form cat-like legs, her front pair ending in large mitten-like paws with large claws as her insectoid mouth was replaced by the mouth and nose of a cat. Her colors would fill in again, white and purple making up most of her coloration besides the yellow and orange on her false front paws, a ring of gold appearing on her tail in a flash of holy light as her blue eyes revealed themselves to still be rather similar to before.
"Wormmon digivolved to... Kuwaga-Wait what!?"
Avani would be looking her new form over repeatedly in shock as she now stood on two limbs, her tail waving behind her in a distressed manner as her paws touched her form to make sure she wasn't visually hallucinating, "I-I'm a gatomon!?"
Cecilia would choke a slight bit at the sight before saying, "This is so much better than Kuwagamon!"
"No it's not! I want my other arms back!"
Alizee would agree with Cecilia, "I do like this more than the idea of fighting a massive beetle."
The newly born gatomon let out a cry at the two girls agreeing as Eyesmon slithered close to Avani, nuzzling into her like an affectionate companion pet, "S-stop that!"
Leopardmon's eyes had widened a bit at the sight before looking at Cecilia's digivice as his eyes then narrowed, "It would seem that we have found the first symptom of instability in your role as a chosen child, Cecilia."
She would look at him, "Huh?"
"From an initial observation, it would seem your bond with Avani is incomplete, perhaps the most clear cut form of instability, and the first side effect we've observed entirely. It looks that the flow of data clogs itself as such due to the fact that Avani has no set line to digivolve through, the data of her various choices building up while she isn't digivolving. Thus causing you to have trouble with digivolving her even when using the limited forced-digivolution system present in your digivice, and making it random what she might become."
Cecilia would stare him with a confused look on her face before Alizee would clarify it for her, "Think of it like a ball pit filled with different colors, reaching in, and pulling out a different colored ball each time."
"Ohhhh, I get it," Cecilia would respond before then responding, "but doesn't that make us unreliable in emergency situations?"
"You're saying I could become a numemon!?" Avani's question was filled with horror at the thought of becoming one of the digital worlds most disgusting denizens.
"Yes, to both questions," Leopardmon would respond, "and I also suspect that is why Eyesmon has taken such a liking to the both of you, as a digimon that feeds on and accumulates non-physical data. It's entirely possible it's feeding off the excess data your digivice is building up and leaking, though that doesn't explain it's..."
He stops for a moment as he continues to observe Eyesmon attempt to goad Avani into snuggling with it, "Peculiar behavior. Most eyesmon would be content to hide in the shadows and feed in the dark, and even more peculiar is that it chose to risk itself to save you."
Leopardmon would lean in slightly, causing Eyesmon to focus all its eyes on him and growl in a defensive manner as Leopardmon then said, "As it is, this does throw a wrench into our plans for the day. Cecilia, I'd like you to take Avani and go see Omnimon. I'm unsure if the usual to attain ultimate level will work with Avani, considering her odd state."
"And what of me, Lord Leopardmon?" Alizee would ask to bring his attention back to her, which caused him to ponder before responding.
"Please, go with the both of them to make sure they don't get lost in the castle. Don't consider this an off day however, Omnimon won't let you just rest."
"Um... Lord Leopardmon," Avani would then jump in with another question, "You don't have an answer?"
"No one digimon has all the answers, Avani," he'd respond, "My role in the royal knights is as their strategist in all things related to war. I'm afraid I don't have many answers relating to the mysteries of digital life and it's many paths."
"But Omnimon does?"
"We don't have an exact specialist regarding it, but of us as individuals, Omnimon has spent a large amount of his free time in the study of digimon as our individual selves. An obsession that no doubt stems from his face off with his predecessor."
All three would tilt their heads as Cecilia simply said, "His predecessor?"
"Ah, I forget you all do not know much of the Royal Knights history, much less our individual history. All Royal Knights are of a line chosen by Lord Yggdrasil's will, our paths marked by great achievements that even other digimon who attain our lines could not hope to compete with. In the case of the current Omnimon, he and Lord Alphamon together purged a mass insurrection against Lord Drasil led by the previous royal knight Omnimon. Of which the current Omnimon slew him in a duel, though it's always been obvious that our Omnimon has been affected by his ascension being marked by his slaying of the previous holder of his seat."
"And none of you speak with him about it?"
"I do believe that both Lord Alphamon and Gallantmon both have. I myself cannot be counted among those close enough for him to confide as such in."
Cecilia would look down towards Leopardmon's feet, "I guess I had the wrong impression of how the knights worked then..."
"I take it you imagined we were a group of tight knit warriors willing to save the world at all costs, of which our camaraderie would never see us betray one another?"
She flushed a bit, "M-maybe a little."
A chuckle came from the knight before he then said, "If only life were so simple as that. Go to him, I'm certain he'll have an idea of where to begin with your problem for you and Avani, Cecilia."
"Thank you," Cecilia would respond, still staring at the ground only to find herself being tugged by Alizee, the transformed girl not recognizing her new strength and almost pulling Cecilia over, "H-hey!"
"O-oh! Sorry, sorry! I'm still unused to being this strong," Alizee let go of Cecilia, "It isn't every day you transform into something else... Er, at least it was that way before."
"Y-yeah," Cecilia would respond nervously as Avani would suddenly crawl up Cecilia's clothes and hiss at Eyesmon, who clearly wasn't taking the hint about the gatomon not wanting to be snuggled.
"A-Avani," Cecilia would wince as she felt her partner's new claws dig into her head slightly, "C-could you walk for now instead?"
The cat-like digimon would realize what she was doing and leap off her, "Sorry, Cecilia...! But tell Eyesmon to stop trying to hug me!"
The girl would look to the eye covered digimon, who used all the eyes on its body to give the scariest puppy-dog look anyone had ever seen. Cecilia however was taken in with it immediately, giving hint towards her hobbies being a bit different from average as she let out a low, "Awww..." before saying to Avani, "Why not let him carry you to Omnimon's room?"
"Nope! No! Nadda! I will walk there on my own six... Er, two legs!"
Avani quickly began to scurry away from them, Alizee smiling slightly before saying to Cecilia, "Shall we?"
"Please do," Cecilia would say as Eyesmon would then snuggle under her arm at having failed to get Avani to snuggle with it, the shadow digimon attempting to get her to scratch between it's eyes as they started to leave the courtyard to go find the other Royal Knight.
Cecilia would note, "I'm gonna have to give you a name too aren't I...?"
…...
Beelzemon attempted to subtly pat the back of his extremely nervous chosen, one of his generals, the poor boy barely containing his fear of the monstrous digimon standing in the room alongside him and his partner.
His name was Arshan Dillon, and he was just over the age of fifteen. His hair was vaguely brown, but seemed black due to how dark it appeared in the dim light. Despite a height maybe two inches under six feet, he held a fearful position that made him seem smaller. His skinny build and pale skin certainly didn't help the perception of the larger digimon in the room with him. His baggy clothes consisted of a black hoodie with a white tee underneath, jogging pants, and simple rubber shoes. His dark green eyes were looking across the table at the only other human in the room, a girl currently engrossed in a book that implied she had learned to read the language of digimon.
Leviamon's chosen was that girl, Katarina Walton, who's presence screamed someone who acted in paradoxical ways. Her appearance was roundish, yet she gave off the feeling of being tall and lanky. Her skin lightly tanned from spending her days in the sun as she carefully made sure not to damage the pages in her book with each turn, moving a braid from her left eye as her strawberry colored hair flowed behind her. One could see the floral shirt underneath the bulky overalls she was wearing, a sun hat sitting on the table that was likely hers as well. To her right, Leviamon seemed rather proud of her quiet presence, an odd thing to see from the demon lord who represented envy.
Above her head was who was likely her partner, a sleepy digimon that floated in a half-awake manner, threatening to fall at any moment. Her little body pale white and round except for the bright blue wings coming off her head and arms, her stubby feet ending in small black talons, the two large antennae on her head twitching with every low giggle she let out. This digimon was called morphomon, but those at the table called her instead by the nickname Katarina had given her.
The morphomon would do as it threatened to, falling into her tamer's arms and blocking her view, "Lily, I'm trying to read..."
Lily yawned heavily before responding, "Sorry Kat... This waiting is just so... Boring."
Arshan would look away from them to his own partner at his side. A small red lion cub-like digimon with bright green eyes clearly filled with an idealistic view of life. The tufts of red fur on his head curved off like flames of their own as a short tail that waved behind him with a spherical bulb of heat at the end that had a single stream coming off of it. A patch of yellow fur sat on his torso, and on his limbs and head were odd attachments that held a spherical symbol surrounded by what resembled an incomplete omega, with the one on his head emitting a stream of flame like the orb on his tail. This was a coronamon, but anyone who could detect a digimons data could tell there was something different to be found in this individual.
He'd poke Arshan, "Come on, Arshan. These are our allies, there's no need to be scared."
Arshan would whisper back to him, "You say that, Coro, but..."
Arshan would look to the titan of a digimon standing to the side of Leviamon opposite of Katarina. His head threatened to poke through the top of the tent despite it being nearly twenty meters tall. It was impossible to tell if his body was a machine or if he was clad from head to toe in purple and black armor across his draconic body, no eyes visible under what he assumed were slits to see through and no way to breath though either was a terrifying thought. Massive blades burst from his forms at various points across his body, his head, his chest, his wings, his knees, even his thick and long tail ended in a massive axe-head that threatened to carve over mountains. Only the webbing of his wings weren't colored black, purple, or that of a metallic blade, instead glowing orange-yellow as though mass amounts of heat were flowing through them.
"Apologies for the wait, EXO Grimmon," Leviamon would tilt his head to speak to the draconic being, "I know you would prefer to be out battling Examon personally."
"As long as I get my chance, I will be satisfied," the giant would respond to him.
"Assuming I don't get to him first," Beelzemon's other general would speak from the lord of gluttony's left. A humanoid being who's height was around twenty feet, much of his body glowing bright with green energy, the flow bursting from his back impossible to tell if it was flame or electricity. His black armor coated in glowing green bursts resembling lightning strikes, massive ropes that seemed to hold some significance to the digimon were wrapped around his shoulders and flowed upwards alongside that burst of energy from his back. Around his waist was a regally wrapped cloth, held by a symbol that resembled three bursts of electricity from the center. The horns on his helm were abnormally large, likely to resemble lightning bolts as neon green hair came out of two holes as a pair of passionate green eyes looked outwards towards his comrades. Two sets of katanas rested in their sheathes on either side of his waist, hands of pure energy resting on his sides at the moment.
"We shall see, Kazuchimon, shall we make a challenge of it?" EXO Grimmon would respond as its helm twisted into a grin.
"It would be a pleasure to compete with you to see who can slay the Dragon Emperor first," Kazuchimon would respond, "Perhaps we should add-"
"Apologies for the wait everyone!" Milana entered the tent as her massive partner tore open the tent flap for her to enter, "Spline located another squad of sealsdramon and went to deal with them before they could report back."
"... An expected result from the ruler of Spiral City and a machinedramon," EXO Grimmon would state as Milana's partner entered the tent behind her.
Compared to the other chosen's partners, Milana's was clearly a mega level digimon, and a feeling that he would not be reverting to a prior stage was in his very aura. He was as large as EXO Grimmon, though in comparison he was obviously one hundred percent mechanical as his body moved. His mechanical form looking like an amalgamation of technology, his right arm a claw meant to slice and slash, while his left arm held a claw meant for grasping and crushing. His knees had mechanical skulls at the knees, bands with spikes on his ankles, and a few exposed wires on his torso, curving into what was likely his core. Directly above that was plating that covered small missile launchers, his thick neck resembling his tail as well, which ended rather abruptly. His smooth, round head had two large pipes jut from each side, curving down next to its neck and into its body. Two large horns burst out the back of his head, of which one's eyes would then focus on the crown jewel of weapons on machinedramon's body, the infinity cannons, massive energy blasters built onto its back that were capable of devastating entire armies of digimon. The black empty sockets on its head made his appearance all the more intimidating as he lumbered in and stood behind Milana as a massive guardian that threatened to fight even the demon lords should their moods become violent towards her, not saying a word as he loomed over the other two chosen.
Arshan knew Milana well enough that he didn't fear her, she was always rather nice about everything, and had given him rather strong, if a bit confusing, lessons on strategy that could compete with tactical legends like Leopardmon and Tactimon. Spline however was always intimidating to him, his loyalty was clearly to Milana in every way, but his silence and intimidating presence marked him as the scariest thing in the room. Not to mention that, unlike the other partner digimon, Spline never seemed to return to any prior form plus the knowledge remained that machinedramon was designed with being the most powerful artificial digimon to exist.
The boy couldn't help but shudder with fear in the presence of a digimon that theoretically could fight even some of the Royal Knights or Demon Lords on his own.
Katarina didn't even look up from her book in comparison however, clearly content to continue reading, and Leviamon obviously intended to let her do so.
"EXO Grimmon, the map if you please."
Leviamon's subordinate would oblige, rolling out a massive map across the table for all to see, of which Spline's empty sockets would flash red to produce holograms of pieces that represented Examon's and the Demon Lord's forces.
"Our plan here needs to be fast and intricate," Milana would state, "Our enemy is aware of us, and likely expects us to attack from either of the two paths that Arshan's plan created. However, Lord Leviamon's reinforcements have given us something to throw that idea out the window. Sixty scorpiomon, capable of scaling the sides of the newly created canyons Examon made to stop Arshan's unnatural disasters, and capable of providing the defenses we need from any sealsdramon or commandramon from above, which will allow our other climbers to come in from behind the scorpiomon."
Beelzemon would lean back and interrupt her, "What about their air forces?"
"I didn't come here alone, I'm well aware both of you have... Inadequate air support to say the least. Which is why Spline will act as both anti-air commander and the guide for none other than our own Gigadramon and Megadramon air squads, which will act as cover for the CannonBeemon we brought from Lucemon's own legion to destroy their Tankdramon line."
"Is he capable of commanding both at the same time?"
"He's a machinedramon, no offense to you, Lord Beelzemon, but his thought output is more than one thousand times your own."
Rather than taking offense to his intelligence being compared, Beelzemon got irritated with being called 'lord' again, responding, "Stop calling me lord already, damn you!"
Milana would realize she had done that, "Oh, apologies. But, that said, your role is important to prevent this from all falling apart."
He'd grunt and cross his arms as Milana continued, "We need you and Kazuchimon to hunt down the two Cannodramon in the mountains. A bit of a flaw in Arshan's plan was expecting the mudslide or tsunami to get rid of them, if he hadn't sent a deception squad and instead a whole army, we would have had to withdraw from losses alone. Those cannondramon completely annihilated that entire zone that our core will have to enter through alongside those holes your strike team hoped to hide in. An underestimation of their destructive ability as mega levels one would assume?"
Arshan wanted to squeeze down into himself as Milana pointed out the flaw in his plan that had nearly cost the lives of the team he sent in to distract Examon, his underestimation of mega level dragons and their ability to rend entire landscapes asunder had bitten him indeed.
"If it were any of the knightmon primary armies, your plan would have worked flawlessly. But Examon is a ruler and commander of his people first before Royal Knight, and that people consists of legends that rule the more destructive aspects of nature with their very nails. It's why your legion wasn't entrusted with dealing with Examon and his army alone, just as Lord's Belphemon and Barbamon were entrusted in dealing with Gankoomon's army, and Lord's Daemon and Lilithmon to deal with Jesmon's army."
Leviamon gave a smug look to Beelzemon at Milana's words, the other demon lord noticing, and then choosing to flip Leviamon the bird, though no one else reacted to them.
"That said, your plan gave us a beneficial side effect. Spline was able to estimate the exact locations from where the cannondramon fired based on the impact point, and if we move fast enough, they won't be able to relocate in time. As for the one in the airfield, my hope is is that the CannonBeemon will be able to deal with it before it becomes too much of an issue."
Kazuchimon would raise a brow under his helmet, "Your... Hope?"
"A poor choice of words maybe, but life isn't certain is it?"
"... Fair enough."
Milana would take a deep breath before continuing, "Now, the biggest problem himself is Examon. The super weapon of the Royal Knights and without a doubt one of the strongest digimon ever to exist. To be honest with you all, even Lord Lucemon himself at his strongest might have trouble slaying Examon... Which is exactly why Lord Leviamon and EXO Grimmon were called to aid you with their water-based legion, Beelzemon. Which is why you and Arshan should have waited rather than risking our push to close in on the the dramon army. Your choices may have cost us-"
Coro would suddenly jump onto the table, "Aren't you being a little mean towards Arshan? He just wanted to help end this without too many casualties!"
Milana would blink before answering, "I... Do believe I've pointed out the positives of his plan as well? Spline, did I forget to point out the benefits he gave us?"
"No, milady Velvette. You did indeed point out the usages of the results from their plan," the machinedramon's voice was deep and threatening, utterly terrifying for Arshan to hear and Coro half took his voice as a challenge only for Beelzemon to yank him off the table.
The demon lord of gluttony would then say, "You were saying about Leviamon and Grimmon?"
"Ah, right, ahem," she took another breath, "Lord Leviamon and EXO Grimmon are here because the plan is not to kill Examon, but rather, to undo what made him in the first place."
"... What?"
"You aren't aware of EXO Grimmon's origin are you, Beelzemon?" Leviamon spoke rather smugly, "He has an ability that can regress any digimon to a prior state if he's able to get close enough to them for long enough."
"Within limits," Milana would respond, "He seems to have trouble doing the same to the partners of chosen children, likely an effect of their bonds through their digivices if I were to guess."
"But in the case of Examon, our goal is simple," EXO Grimmon would speak as he crossed his bulky arms, "I am to undo the jogress that created Examon in the first place. The bond between a slayerdramon and a breakdramon."
"And I'm to keep him from just jumping up into atmosphere and turning us all into another set of canyons around their camp," Leviamon would add, "Which is also why we tricked them into thinking Lilithmon was present, so they would think we could repel his attacks back at him when in reality we planned on never letting him get off the ground in the first place."
"It's not a flawless plan," Milana would say, "But it will function."
"Of which we now reach our last piece, Arshan," Milana would look at Beelzemon's strategist, who was trying to avoid her gaze, "We need you to command our frontal assault, we are relying on you and Coro to deal with the next biggest issue after Examon and the Cannondramon, Darkdramon."
He would gulp as he responded, "D-d-d-darkdramon...?"
"An experiment supposedly on par with the crimson paladin Gallantmon, and of which I'd like you and Apo... Apologies, Coro, to defeat him. Consider it like a test, if that helps your nerves."
"I-it really doesn't..."
"Odd, the thought of tests always assuaged my own nerves... Er, perhaps think of it as a walk in the park?"
Her attempts to help relax Arshan were good natured, but clearly were non-functional as Leviamon then declared, "Ready yourselves! We attack within the hour before Examon finishes reassigning his forces!"
Kazuchimon would look to Beelzemon, though there was a disappointed air around him at not being able to fight Examon, "We best leave before the armies do if we wish to slay the cannondramon before the battle begins."
Beelzemon would look at Arshan, giving him another pat on the back and saying, "You'll do great, kid. Don't let her get you down, throwing a tsunami at Examon was definitely not a plan anyone else would try."
He didn't get a chance to say another word before Kazuchimon called him again, the demon lord gritting his teeth before starting to leave, stopping next to Milana and saying, "Look, could ya try to be a bit softer on the kid? His confidence isn't exactly great."
She would focus on him with her brown eyes, a sense of not wanting to break down Arshan coming from her as she simply responded, "Certainly."
Beelzemon would sigh, tempted to rub his temple as he made his way out the tent to begin the hunt for his targets. Leviamon and EXO Grimmon exiting the tent alongside Katarina and Lily, the human girl still reading as she didn't seem to mind she had no real role in the plan.
Milana would look up at Spline, showing awareness of Arshan's fear of him as she asked, "Could you wait outside the tent for me? I'd like to speak with Arshan and Coro first."
"Of course, milady Velvette," the machinedramon would quickly vacate the space as Milana walked up to Arshan.
"I'm not trying to crush your hopes or anything."
"I... Well... It's my fault for pushing BZ towards that stupid plan anyways. I-I know that I'm not the best or anything but I know a few tweaks and-"
"It was a brilliant plan, Arshan, one we could only hope to accomplish in this world with fantastical allies like we have now, and it shows how much you've grown in only two months" Milana would cut him off, "Don't push yourself too hard by expecting every plan to work, we are competing with other living, thinking beings after all. They are attempting to counter us as we work through our own tactics."
"She's right, Arshan," Coro would add on, "Just look at us! You've outdone some of the others just with our bond alone! Like uh... Boris and Katarina haven't even reached mega with their partners yet, not to mention Aurelia!"
Milana flinched a bit at the mention of the one named Aurelia, "A crude example, but we are both right about you Arshan. Stand tall, you've made progress as a strategist, even though I've only been able to read about it, has clearly been great enough that all of Beelzemon's troops look up to you, and that you've earned a title for yourself. Even Kazuchimon clearly was ready to defend you based on your fear of EXO Grimmon, and a digimon like him doesn't just defend anyone."
Arshan's eyes would look away for a moment, a wind passing through the tent as though to say he was beginning to steel himself as he looked to Milana with eyes that were slightly more determined and asked, "Can I ask something, Milana?"
"Sure."
"What drives you to do all this? To be so without fear as you are despite the things I've heard you've faced, to be so... You?"
"Mmm, that's a tough one," Milana would respond as put a finger to her chin before responding, "Between us and Coro, and I really mean only the three of us, I have a sister back home I'd like to be here with me, away from our broken home world. Once Lord Lucemon has brought about the world he spoke of to all of us. But to bring about that world, it requires I fight with Spline. If I can't fight digimon without being killed, then the best way to do that is to play support as a strategist, as a ruler, as a diplomat, and as the first that Lord Lucemon called here to this world to aid him."
"I-I see," Arshan seemed slightly intimidated by her reasoning, but pushed it down as he then asked, "What's her name?"
Milana would smile at the thought of her sister before responding, "Cecilia."
Arshan would take in Milana's words as he looked away for a moment as an idea about the coming battle entered his head before saying to Milana, "I.. I have a plan, Milana. Can I ask of you something?"
Milana seemed a bit taken aback, but nodded.
"Can you delay the attack to give me and Coro a chance to do something... Different?"
Milana blinked before responding, "Perhaps you should explain it to me first?"
A nervous nod from Arshan as he replied, "Well, you see..."
…...
"So, do you like anything artistic, Cecilia?" Alizee was facing her fellow chosen as she walked backwards down the hall towards Omnimon's quarters. Eyesmon and Avani each on one side of Cecilia, Avani clearly bored while Eyesmon was content simply to be near Cecilia.
"Um... Well, I'm not really sure," Cecilia gave a nervous smile, not sure how to answer, "I uh, like to look?"
"Mmm, how about this, where are you from?"
"Oh! Savannah in the US! I-it's not the most original name, but it's home."
"I have... Not heard of it before, but your love for it is clear. I understand that."
"Where's your home at?"
"Gruissan, France. I loved it there, although..."
"Although?"
"It is nothing, but please, do tell me more of your home."
"O-oh... Okay, well... Savannah has some of the best restored historical architecture in the US!... Though I guess it kind of pales compared to France," she poked her fingers together nervously.
Alizee's smile softened as she responded, "I'm sure it has its own unique charm."
"T-thanks, Alizee."
"You are wel- Oh!"
Alizee would stumble forwards after bumping into something, almost taking Cecilia with her before turning around to find Omnimon leaving his chamber, the royal knight looking down at them with welcoming blue eyes, "May I ask what the two of you are doing?"
"W-well, Omnimon," Cecilia grew a bit nervous in his presence again and began poking her fingers together.
Alizee was quick to pick up on this, answering for her, "Leopardmon sent us here because Avani has a unique... Problem with her digivolution."
Omnimon's eyes would settle on Avani, who was still a gatomon, the legendary warrior replying, "So I see. Just as I was about to go meet with Alphamon, I suppose he will have to wait then."
He would turn and reopen the massive door to the room he had just exited, "Come in."
The four would do as asked, all of them shuddering slightly as Omnimon closed it behind them with a slam, "It seems that your partner doesn't have a stable digivolution, is that it?"
"Er, y-yes sir."
"Once again, no need to be formal around me," Omnimon would turn around and walk to the wall, where a bookshelf with works meant for a being of his size sat as he gently grabbed one with his blue 'hand' and let it fall open before carefully pushing pages with his sword, "As it is. What is it exactly Leopardmon wanted me to do for you?"
"Um... A cure, I think?"
"I think perhaps he hoped you had a way to ease the flow of data through her digivice, if not a way to stabalize Avani's data," Alizee had clearly been paying attention to what Leopardmon had been saying as she spoke, Cecilia rubbing her head sheepishly as Alizee carried the conversation.
"Preferably without making me into a numemon or geremon or bakemon or... Well, any digimon like that," Avani waved her arms above her head in a cartoonish manner as though to indicate the ghostly digimon they had fought the night before.
"Unfortunately, I do not have a one for all answer for you. It is the natural state of digimon to evolve based on how they are raised and adapt to their environments, and wormmon is certainly a digimon with the potential for a great variance in the lines it can see. The chosen children's digivices are to act as a lock on specific lines to guarantee the power of your partners, if it is broken, I am not sure if there is an answer," Omnimon would close the book as he finished browsing it before saying, "I do however, have an answer for you regarding the clogging of data in your digivice."
"You do?"
"Under normal circumstances, it would take some time to create a data dump for you to place all the excess data your digivice is producing into a dump, but luckily," His eyes would settle on Eyesmon, who was scanning the room over, "You already have a companion capable of devouring it."
"Eyesmon? I mean, Leopardmon did say he was feeding on it, but..."
"The easiest way to do this, is to essentially make Eyesmon into a secondary partner for you, by which he will have free access to the excess data and be able to consume it as he wishes without waiting for an opening," Omnimon explained, "Based on the digivice you wield, I assume he did not gain access until you attempted to force Avani to digivolve?"
"Er... Yes?" Cecilia had little to no idea what Omnimon was saying beyond that Eyesmon could eat the data her digivice was producing.
"It won't do anything about the randomness of Avani's digivolving, but it will make it much easier for you to digivolve her."
"I... See."
Alizee would pipe up however, "Omnimon. I have a personal question then."
"What is it?"
"I... Is it possible for me to obtain a partner then?"
"If the digimon were willing, then yes."
She let out a not so subtle and quiet "Yes" as Cecilia would offer her digivice to Omnimon.
"You'll have to do it yourself, you've already established a bond with Eyesmon by letting it be with you, but now you must solidify it."
"Okay... How?"
"Aim your digivice towards Eyesmon, press the two center buttons, and let the ideal of your bond flow through your heart."
"I still don't really understand the bond part, b-but... I'm willing to try it I guess," Cecilia would follow as Omnimon said to. Eyesmon leaning in and sniffing the digivice as all of its eyes blinked together, shortly after, a glow would erupt from the screen as it read in English, 'Digimon registered.'
The girl would blink as she pulled the digivice closer to read the screen before looking at Eyesmon, it's grin suddenly looking a lot more joy filled as Omnimon spoke from behind her, "Easy enough, was it not?"
Cecilia wasn't really sure how to respond, she half expected that she would have had to have to jump through any number of loops to do this, only for it to be two button presses, "Erm, yes?"
"We will wait until Avani's digivolution into Gatomon wears off before we begin testing your ability to digivolve her after to see if your new bond with Eyesmon works as intended, and depending on how that goes," he looked to Alizee, "Are you ready to spar with her, Alizee?"
She seemed a tad hesitant at first before responding, "Yes, I am."
"Good then," Omnimon said, "Then for now, we wait."
…..
Darkdramon's eyes narrowed at the horizon as the line of tankmon and tankdramon grew tense at the sight of a horde of foes encroaching on them, the lack of cannondramon fire causing him to become wary as his eyes could make out the banners of Beelzemon approaching. The dark cyborg dragon lifting an arm to keep his troops from firing until they were within range.
His eyes quickly widened however as he made out a flag of parley leading them, and none other than a human carrying it. A coronamon to his left, and a witchmon and wizardmon to his right, likely to protect him in case of denial.
Darkdramon was not one to deny it however as a warrior who held honor high, his boosters activating and launching him forward as he roared a command at the lines, "Hold all fire!"
The human walked forward alongside the coronamon, and Darkdramon didn't have to take a deep breath to smell the sheer amount of fear coating this human. He could tell that he was resisting ever fiber in his body to retreat, and that despite that fear, he was facing it when it counted.
Darkdramon respected that in any being as both the human and coronamon looked into his eyes, "I-I am Arshan Dillon!"
"And I'm Coro!"
Darkdramon spoke gruffly to them, "I am Darkdramon, second-in-command of the Royal Knight Examon's forces, why do you wish to parley?"
Arshan thought back on what he had told Milana in that tent, a plan to prevent a mass of losses in Beelzemon's forces while she took care of the side lines and Examon alongside Lord Leviamon. That Coro would duel the last resort weapon of an entire line of digimon, and that if... No, when he won, that Darkdramon and all his forces would stand down peacefully without a single casualty taken for them. They were acting based off a rumor about Darkdramon's desire for personal battle and honor to their maximum advantage.
"I and Coro, would... W-would..." Arshan took a deep breath and a gulp before finishing his sentence as Darkdramon waited patiently for his opponent to finish speaking, "W-we would like to d-duel you, Darkdramon, rather than have our armies clash."
Darkdramon was filled with surprise at his opponents request, few were brave or foolish enough to want to duel him, but here was this human child, braver than even ultimate and mega level digimon to battle him in a one on one dual.
Coro stepped forward, drawing Darkdramon's attention as he spoke, "You win, we'll leave without another word. I win, your entire line surrenders without a fight."
Darkdramon would respond, "I cannot guarantee my lord and his more loyal subjects would."
"That's fine, as long as you and your line do," Coro would puff his chest out, "I'll try not to make it hurt too much!"
Darkdramon chuckled at his opponents, both amused and amazed as he responded, "I accept your terms, Arshan Dillon the human. Coronamon."
He would suddenly jet away from them to give them distance on the battlefield as he looked to his men and roared, "Observe a duel like you have never seen! Do not fire under any circumstance!"
As he looked back to Arshan, the human gulped as he yelled to them, "Digivolve, and prepare to face the might of Darkdramon! He who hunts the one code named BAN-TYO and wields the gigastick lance!"
Coro would grin and rub his nose, "Like to hear yourself talk, huh?"
He'd look to Arshan, who was shuddering, "Let's do it!"
Arshan's nod was hard to see with how hard he was shuddering with fear, but he pulled his digivice from his pocket. One like an old phone that fit nicely in his hand, rectangular with three buttons on a circle below the screen, resembling a claw. The curving bottom with a chain link on it to hook onto his pants. The whole thing was notably entirely varying shades of gold, the screen aiding its shining appearance as Coro began to glow.
"Coronamon! W-warp digivolve!"
Coro's color peeled away like fire burning through leaves. His grid of data growing taller and broader as the details of full body armor became apparent, his gauntlets resembling a lions talons, his sabatons ending in massive claws, from the back of his armor burst a large symbol resembling non-functional wings, his head becoming more lion-like as well as a great mane of hair burst from the back of his and flowed like flame. Reds, yellows, and oranges quickly flowed in to fill his form as his blue eyes opened up to reveal a being filled with a sense of justice and determination that no other being could compare with. An orb of flame like the sun itself appearing over his head briefly to create an orb between those false wings, before then apparently filling his gauntlets with the energy of the sun itself as flame burst from them wildly. The entirety of that miniature sun absorbed by the digimon before Darkdramon.
As the data flow allowed Coro to take on his final stage, Darkdramon grinned as he realized who his opponent was to be. One thought long lost at the beginning of the war to an unknown enemy, a fight he never thought he would have the chance to face as the Olympos XII were wiped out, a fight that all like him craved had presented itself before him, and he was going to drink up every last moment of it. An opponent he thought that if he ever met, would be an ally rather than a foe.
"Coronamon!"
"Warp digivolved to..."
"Apollomon!"
Authors note
Holy mackerel, 10,000 word chapter this early!
"YOU THOUGHT IT WAS LILITHMON, BUT IT WAS ME, LEVIAMON!"
I originally intended to have Examon wiped without introducing these DL chosen first, but reviews and DMs have made me realize I should just start being more direct about these characters instead. Ended up with a chapter that focused mostly on character and world building over plot progress, but as they say, a story isn't story without both. (totallynotdiggingdeepintotrivianooneelsewillknow) Anyways, this now leaves us with two chosen left to introduce: those assigned to Lilithmon and Daemon.
Apologies if there's more formatting errors. FFN really really seems to hate ODT files.
Speaking of forgotten digimon, the Grimmon line is definitely on that list. Poor sucker never even got properly identified after Dawn and Dusk.
I've started noticing one of my biggest issues while writing is a habit I got from running DND games. By the way, we have a cover now! I made it in like three hours in illustrator lmao. I'm too poor to hire someone to do it for me.
Arshan and Coro belong to BlazePurple, who'd I'd also like to give special thanks to for giving me a lot of ideas.
Katarina and Lily belong to Twinkles1827
Milana and Spline belong to yours truely
Alright, answers to reviews this week.
To Victor John Foxfire: You're off the mark this time.
-The scene I deleted was Sif vs Metal Phantomon, not Sif helping Dynasmon. Dynasmon's fight was always solo against Chaos Gallantmon, which Chaos Gallantmon explicitly says was Dynasmon underestimating him. The real Gallantmon wouldn't have been present at all, it would have been Magnamon who came in and covered Dynasmon.
-No, Gallantmon is not the one from Tamers. I said in the prologue this is a completely separate digital world and earth from any canon version across games and shows so I could use the flexibility of Digimons rules to the fullest. I would have already broken Tamer's lore multiple times now if it were that universe(That digital world exists across multiple mini-worlds), not to mention the creator of that Guilmon has said he is not a Royal Knight ever. Also I forgot that movie existed, Taomon, Growlmon, and Rapidmon do have a special tri-attack that's freaking devastating. Shame we don't have a rapidmon.
-As for the knightmon, I had no plans at the time to continue that.
-Eyesmon is good boi, Eyesmon would hurt nobody except everybody.
-You're also off about Dynasmon and Chaos Gallantmon's conversation, Chaos Gallantmon is playing the role of his brother still while Dynasmon already knows that Chaos Gallantmon is an imposter. Dynasmon simply confirms what he already knew from the way "Gallantmon" speaks, and then calls out Chaos Gallantmon as a faker through his having once been megidramon which causes the chaos knight to strike at him and start the fight.(The Royal Knights Gallantmon was never a megidramon, which goes in line with what I said about not being Tamers Gallantmon) Dynasmon also only told Ryu and Tiamat to stay out of the fight, as it was their room he kept Chaos Gallantmon from entering. You see Cecilia, Kyou, and Jordan off in this chapter elsewhere, and it should be assumed the other chosen were either sleeping or fighting other metal phantomon(As can be inferred by the opening scene with Leopardmon and Omnimon plus the ending scene where Chaos Gallantmon has his arm popped back into place by multiple metal phantomon).
I went back to make sure it was more apparent now than it was before, since another reviewer I asked said it was only around 60% apparent the way I had it before.
To Roggi: "Are you perhaps one of my people"(In regards to Wormmon hats). But yes, Eyesmon is one of my favorite designs to pop up. I originally had intended it a more monstrous role than what I have planned for it now.
To ShadowWolf223: It's something in progress(We'll have more side factions pop up as we progress). Realistically, in a war between two factions that has dragged everyone else in it and killed off several world leaders/nations, you're gonna have some very angry side factions. Chaos Gallantmon's is one of the more prominent ones due to the fact that he's on par with Royal Knights. More'll pop up over time.
To BlazePurple: Thank you for the appreciation. I'm really trying to keep my schedule constant, though I do worry it might impact story quality.
