Getting up the cliff had been the easy part, getting down was another entire thing on its own. Contrary to how one gets to this island, and my own willingness to get that high in the first place, I... really don't like heights. In fact I hate them. A lot. Which is ironic since I also really love to fly. As long as I have full control I'm perfectly fine. This wasn't one of those times. Especially not when I had someone with me. More so when that someone decides to take certain matters into his own hands.
"Hey, you're not still mad at me, are you?" The said 'someone' asked, easily keeping up with me just as he did when he followed me the first time. The heat in my face became a little hotter and my hand twitched as picked up my pace.
"You jumped off the cliff. Do you even realize how high that was?" I demanded, refusing to look at him as my stomach churned. Ugh, just remembering that made me feel kind of nauseous.
"It was the fastest way down. Didn't you say you needed to get us off this island before it gets dark?" The pink haired cat questioned, only annoying me further with his logic. And his ability to continue keeping up with me. At this point I don't think anything I could do will get rid of him.
"You didn't need to grab me to do that. I know my own way down." I couldn't keep myself from growling, considering my options. Climb one of the trees to try to get away or hit him.
... No, as annoyed with him as I was, I didn't want to resort to violence. I didn't dislike him that much. Yet. Boy's damn lucky he's part cat, though, I'll say that much. Probably why he thought he could jump from so high in the first place. As for climbing one of the trees, or perhaps having it lift me up... yeah, as really tempting as it was getting, I'll pass. While I actually rather enjoy playing in them, as I rationalized earlier, leaving him in an unknown area without knowing if he could find his way back was likely a bad idea. Besides, there's no guarantee he wouldn't just continue to follow me into the trees anyways.
"That would have taken too long. Wait... you're not scared of heights, are you?" He asked, startling me as his face suddenly came into my line of vision. Jumping back, I finally turned to face him; nearly losing my balance on the tree root I was standing on in the process.
"What? The screaming didn't clue you in as we were falling? Or me yelling at you once we landed?" I snapped, barely biting back a groan as another wave of nausea overcame me. Damn it, Ashlen, stop thinking about that! Honestly, I'd rather be suffering a sore throat from yelling then continuously recalling that fall. Kind of surprised I don't.
"I mean I guess," Boris responded, looking off to the side as he lifted a hand to scratch his cheek. I felt the nerve in my eye twitch as he looked back at me, a smooth grin forming on his face as his tail swayed behind him.
"Hehe, but falling like that is fun. I managed to land safely, didn't I? And if you don't like heights why go up there in the first place?" He asked in a tone that made me want to hit him. Now was a very bad time to make fun of me. Not to mention the fact he's not entirely wrong only makes me more annoyed.
"Well I found nothing fun about that. I'm okay with heights as long as I have control of my surroundings. Just shut up and follow me back to the others before I leave you behind." I growled again, turning away from him as I continued making my way back. Seriously, the boy is damned freaking lucky I like cats.
No real idea where I suddenly got the inspiration for this but it's unlikely I'll ever continue from here. I did have ideas on how, even for this "chapter' but it was vague. Just some "pinpoints" more than anything. When I actually tried to get them written I hit a road block, given events had to come before what I was thinking. Oh well. This happens directly after chapter 5 ends and is in Alana's point of view. Oh and chapters 1 and 2 have been edited for spelling, grammer and over use of words
