GRADUATION DAY

THE SUN IS shining brightly in Mystic Falls as the community prepares to celebrate this year's graduates.

Bonnie was grateful for the support of her friends and Lucy, who had been a godsend. Fortunately, she was able to establish a routine that allowed her to arrive at this point with ease. But one particular topic she avoided discussing no matter what – Elena and the Salvatore brothers as Bonnie wanted no part of getting between them and the Mikaelsons.

She found it challenging to muster excitement for today's event. While it was meant to mark a joyous milestone, the absence of her grams to share in it with her made it feel bittersweet. Her thoughts inevitably drifted to the much-needed conversation with Elena.

Nevertheless, Lucy appeared far more exuberant, as if it were her own graduation day. She was making a concerted effort to maintain her composure for Lucy's sake. She recognized that her cousin's enthusiasm was largely linked to their forthcoming year-long adventure, set to begin in just a few days.

Since it appeared that her cousin intended to be late for her own graduation, Lucy yelled out in concern, wondering if Bonnie needed any assistance. "Yo! Do you need any help, Bonnie?"

"No, I'm almost done. Just five more minutes."

Lucy sighed, because she was positive she had told her that twenty minutes prior.

After they arrived at the high school, Rudy was chatting with Liz Forbes, and it appeared the two old friends were catching up on each other's lives.

Although he kept his promise to attend her graduation, Bonnie felt conflicted about his presence. Throughout her life, Rudy had never been a constant figure, and his absence during Abby's funeral reinforced that feeling of neglect.

Bonnie waved off her father, mindlessly citing the need to join her class for lineup as her justification. Sadly, Lucy watched Rudy, hoping that his presence wouldn't add to her anxiety.

A stage with a podium is positioned in front of rows of chairs that have been set up on the high school football field.

Meanwhile, Klaus stood atop a hill overlooking the small town where Bonnie's high school graduation was taking place. From his vantage point, he could see the colorful sea of robes and caps and hear the joyful chatter of families and friends filling the air as the graduates walk across the stage to get their diplomas.

Even though Bonnie, Caroline, Matt, and Elena are all wearing their graduation gowns—something they had been fantasizing about since junior high—there's a tangible sense of anxiety in the air. As they find a seat among the graduates, Bonnie and Elena, in particular, appear to be avoiding eye contact.

As he watched from afar, Klaus couldn't help but feel mixed emotions. Bonnie, a powerful witch who had crossed paths with him many times, had become someone he admired through her resilience and strength. Her journey through high school was not without challenges, yet she had overcome them and will now start a new chapter in her life.

She looked as beautiful as ever while receiving her diploma, he couldn't help but smile. Though they may be worlds apart, he knew that her journey was far from over. And as she took her first steps into adulthood, Klaus silently vowed to always be there for her if she ever needed him.

The tense mood grows stronger as the ceremony goes on, with Bonnie's eyes often drifting to her estranged father sitting in the audience. Finally, as it comes to an end, Bonnie abruptly leaves the area, with Lucy discreetly following her.

With a mixture of sadness and frustration on her face, Bonnie paces back and forth close to the school building. She had been concealing these feelings of betrayal for far too long, and today, on what should be a happy occasion, she can't contain them any longer. When Elena noticed her abrupt departure, she followed and cornered her.

"Bonnie, could we please talk about this?" she asked, attempting to speak softly.

She turned to face Elena, her voice cracking under the weight of her emotions. "Sure."

"I'm so sorry, Bonnie. I... I didn't," she stumbled, regained her voice, and tried again. "I didn't want this to happen. If there was anything I could do to change it, I... I..."

"I understand, but..." Bonnie says, interrupting. Her voice trailed off, realizing she had lost their friendship in the midst of the chaos. "I can't handle Damon always playing with other people's lives and then discarding them like they don't matter."

"Please, say you forgive me." Elena begged.

"Elena, this isn't your fault. You can't control Damon's or Stefan's actions. Like us, he's responsible for his own choices."

"I know, but it's so hard to accept," she said, glancing down. "If it weren't for me, Abby would be safe and alive. It's been a nightmare."

"Look, Elena, we've been through this before. I stuck my nose in vampire business again, and now I'm facing the consequences…again."

Elena felt the sting of her words, and the distance between them. She remained silent, tears forming in her eyes.

"I felt completely alone, broken, and devastated. I'm glad Caroline, Matt, and Lucy were there for me because otherwise I might have gone insane."

"I wanted to be there for you, too, but you pushed me away. I'm sorry and I know how you're feeling. I remember the pain I felt when my parents passed away. I never wanted that for you, especially after losing your grams."

"I know that none of this is your fault and I'm genuinely grateful that you're okay, but I can't do this anymore."

Elena extended her hand towards Bonnie, who took a step back, shock registering on Elena's face.

"Bonnie, please... we can work through this. I know what he did was unforgivable, and you have every right to be angry and hurt."

"I don't know how to handle all of this, Elena. He attacked my mom, someone who meant a lot to me, someone who didn't deserve any of that. And he didn't even care; he was so heartless about it." The truth of how little she'd lived but surrounded by so much death…especially of her loved ones horrified her.

"I promise you, we will find a way to deal with this. I can't help but feel responsible for him. Maybe if I had -."

"No, stop, Elena. You have to stop making excuses for him... for both of them."

Matt and Caroline, who had been watching from a distance, looked at each other, not sure which of their two friends to choose. They were aware that this incident had permanently changed the dynamics within their group, and they were deeply saddened by their inability to come to a peaceful resolution.

With tears in her eyes, "I'm leaving on a European summer trip with Lucy in a few days, and after that, I'm permanently moving to New Orleans. This is our goodbye."

Elena's pain increased, but she nodded, understanding Bonnie's suffering. With a choked voice, she said, "I... I love you, Bonnie. And I'll miss you."

"I love you too, Elena. Take care of yourself, okay?"

Elena nodded, wiping her tears away, her resolve firm. "I promise I'll never forget you, what we had or what you've done for me. I hope you find all the happiness you deserve."

Bonnie offered a faint smile through her tears, touched by Elena's words. "Goodbye, Elena."

Elena takes one last long look at her best friend, the weight of the moment almost too much to bear. Slowly, she turned and walked away.

Lucy, who had been standing close by, ready to support her cousin at any sign of distress, started to approach but was intercepted by Rudy's arrival.

"Congratulations, sweetheart," Rudy greeted his daughter, approaching and presenting her with a vibrant bouquet of flowers. He leaned in and planted a tender kiss on her forehead.

Struggling to maintain her composure, Bonnie replied, "Thanks, Dad."

"How about we celebrate at a Michelin-star restaurant?" Rudy proposed.

Bonnie wasn't in the mood for a celebration, and the last thing she wanted was to spend time with her absent father, who had yet to acknowledge the loss of her mother. But when she glanced at her cousin, her eyes begged for her to comply.

Recognizing that Lucy had a valid point, Bonnie agreed with one condition. She noticed Matt standing off to the side, looking somewhat lost as the other graduates mingled with fellow students and their families.

"Sure, but on one condition – my friend Matt can join us," Bonnie suggested.

Feeling guilty but eager to please his daughter, Rudy said, "Yes, whatever you want," with the kindest smile he could muster.

Bonnie walked over to ask Matt to come along. The two of them found Lucy and Rudy again, and the four of them headed to the parking lot, ready to start their celebratory dinner.

After dinner, neither Bonnie nor Matt were eager to head home. They managed to elude Rudy, who intended to spend the entire night with Bonnie. The old friends ended up sipping beers at their favorite lakeside hangout. Lucy had long ago excused herself, claiming she needed to pack for their trip.

"Can you believe we finally graduated? With everything that's happened, I thought we'd never get here."

"I know, right? So, any big plans for the summer?" Bonnie asked him.

"Actually I do," he said in a secretive tone.

"Oh yeah, sounds mysterious. Care to share?"

"Okay, but can you promise to keep an open mind?"

Bonnie tilted her head with a suspicious look on her face.

Matt chuckled, "Fine. Rebekah and I are heading to Paris for the summer."

Bonnie's eyes widened with shock and awe. "Look at you all boo'd up with an original vampire no less."

Matt furrowed his brow. "She's actually pretty cool."

"You know what, I believe you," she mused, thinking about their unexpected conversation. "Well, I'm happy for you. It sounds incredible. Maybe we'll run into each other."

Matt gave her a playful shoulder-bump. "Yeah, you never know."

"Since I'll be away for a year, I've decided to take some online classes, so when I return to the States, I can enroll in the local college."

A somber expression crossed his face. "That's great, Bonnie. You really have it all figured out. Meanwhile, I continue to let life control me."

"Not really. If it weren't for Lucy or my aunts, I don't know what I would do. But it doesn't have to be that way, Matt. Maybe this trip is just the beginning of a new life for both of us."

"Yeah, that's true. Enough of this sad shit." Matt smiled broadly. "Don't forget to share your journey along the way. "

"Are you kidding? Caroline has already made me promise to post on Insta."

They both laughed. "Of course she did."

Bonnie raised her beer bottle for a toast. "To us and an incredible summer!"

"Cheers!"

The trio was struggling under the weight of their most recent setbacks.

"It's time we return to New Orleans, where we can rebuild," Klaus says, wearing a somber expression.

"Good call, Niklaus. New Orleans was once our home, and it's where we belong. Our family's legacy still thrives there, and we can easily reclaim our rightful place."

Klaus nods in agreement, acknowledging the significance of restoring their family's legacy. Despite his tough exterior, the impending loss of Kol and Finn has deeply affected him.

"Then it's settled," he said firmly. "We leave Mystic Falls behind and return to the city that our family helped build. New Orleans will be our stronghold once more."

"I've got something to tell you both," Rebekah says with trepidation.

With a mischievous smirk, Klaus raises an eyebrow, curious to hear her confession.

"Well, sister, you've certainly been keeping secrets. This must be juicy." He joked.

Elijah nods encouragingly, giving Rebekah the impression that she can confide in them.

"I've decided... I'm not coming with you to New Orleans," she admitted, smiling.

Klaus's eyes narrow in perplexity as his smile turns into a frown. Elijah keeps his composure.

In a derisive manner, Klaus asks, "Oh, really? And what might be the reason for this decision, dear sister?"

Rebekah takes a deep breath, steadying herself. "Matt and I, we've decided to go to Paris for a while, just the two of us. I need some time away from our family's drama."

Klaus leans back in his chair and sips his crimson drink, wearing a teasing smirk. "Ah, the blonde football player. You've found yourself a new chew toy, I see."

"Matt is not a chew toy, Nik. He's someone who makes me happy, and that's all that matters."

"Niklaus, leave the poor girl alone. Rebekah, we want nothing more than for you to be happy. If this is what you want, then go to Paris. Enjoy yourself. Our home will always be there, just as we will. You know you can return whenever you want."

Rebekah walks over to her brother and gives Elijah a firm hug, her eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you, Elijah. You've always been the best big brother."

Elijah looked over at his brother, "We'll make New Orleans ours again, together, just like the old days."

Elena feels both relieved and worried as she walks into the Salvatore mansion. She spots Damon and Stefan in the living room, where Damon is sitting on the couch, visibly worn, gorging on bags of blood. They both appear to be in a serious conversation.

"Damon, you're back! "

He nods, giving her a weak smile. "Yeah, I'm back. Thanks to Rebekah's change of heart."

Elena takes a seat nearby and listens intently as Damon starts sharing the details of what happened during his time in captivity. The torment he endured is evident in his eyes, and Elena can't help but feel a pang of guilt for not looking for him sooner.

She couldn't hide her sarcasm as she greeted Damon, "It's good to see you're still alive and kicking."

Damon, not missing a beat, snapped his fingers, and a sly smile crossed his face, "So, what else did I miss? Oh, that's right, your graduation. How did that go?"

Elena's expression turned sorrowful as she revisited their painful conversation. "Yeah," she said, "Bonnie decided to end our friendship, and she's moving away for good."

Damon's eyes widened when he heard Bonnie's name, an instant desire to see her and make her understand the pain he had put her through.

"I need to go see her," he stated, his voice determined. "She was at Klaus's mansion. I have to make her understand that I didn't have a choice."

Stefan, concerned, interjected, "I don't think that's a good idea, Damon."

Elena agreed, her tone now more somber, "She's hurt, Damon, and I don't blame her. The best we can do is respect her wishes. I won't lie; it hurts like hell, but maybe with enough time, things will get better."

Stefan tried to offer support, "That's very mature of you, Elena."

But Damon, for some unknown reason, abruptly jumped up, startling both Stefan and Elena. Stefan immediately went on high alert.

Damon urgently declared, "I need to go, now."

He rushed for the door and stepped into the sunlight, removing his daylight ring. As his skin began to burn, he walked further into the sunlight, acting as if he were sunbathing. Stefan, not understanding what was happening, yelled for Elena to grab a blanket while he struggled to hold Damon back.

She rushed to grab a blanket, and as she covered Damon, Stefan managed to get him back inside the mansion. Elena, both curious and alarmed, picked up Damon's daylight ring that had fallen to the ground and followed them inside.

Confused, she asked, "What just happened?"

Stefan, equally perplexed, responded, "I have no clue, but if I had to guess, it's got Klaus's name written all over it."

Realization dawned on Elena as she gasped, "You mean he compelled Damon?"

Stefan affirmed, "It's the only thing that makes sense. We both know Damon wouldn't commit suicide. I need to lock him up in the basement until we figure this out."

Still shaken by the peculiar event, Elena ran her fingers through her hair in frustration and whispered to herself, "What the hell are we going to do now?"

Stefan carried an unconscious Damon to the basement, leaving Elena to grapple with the unsettling turn of events and the uncertainty of their next steps.

Klaus sat in one of the plush leather seats, his piercing blue eyes clouded with a mixture of regret and desire.

Opposite him, Elijah gazed at Klaus with concern. "Brother, I understand your reluctance, but you must keep your promise."

He nodded, running a hand through his tousled hair. Despite his promise to never go back, his mind kept going back to the one person he could not forget.

"Yes, Elijah. I know. It's just... I can't help but wonder. What if I could see her one last time?"

Elijah's brows furrowed as he watched his brother's inner turmoil play out on his face. "You said it yourself that you didn't want to jeopardize her future."

Klaus nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on the clouds outside the jet's window. The city below seemed like a distant memory.

"You're right, Elijah. She deserves better than what I can offer. And if I lay eyes on her one last time, I know I won't be able to walk away."

The brothers sat in silence as the jet continued its journey towards New Orleans.

Bonnie sat at the small outdoor cafe in Mystic Falls, nervously stirring her iced tea with a straw. A light breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby trees. She'd agreed to meet her father for lunch, despite her reservations.

He had insisted on catching up with her before her summer trip, but what he didn't know was that her summer trip had turned into something more permanent. It had been awkward at graduation, to say the least, and she couldn't help but feel disappointment bubbling within her.

Upon Rudy's arrival, he regarded the quaint cafe with a frown, hoping she hadn't stood him up. Finally, his eyes settled on Bonnie. He walked over and took a seat opposite her, offering a weak smile. "Bonnie," he began, "I'm glad you could make it so we could catch up before you leave."

With a tempest of emotions that had been building for years, she glanced at him. Rudy had never been there for her—emotionally or physically. Particularly after her grams had died, he had never been there for her when she most needed him.

They both knew he hadn't been there to help her through her grief or ease the pain of Abby leaving them both. She had always suspected that he blamed her for his wife's abandonment, and his guilt at failing to meet the expectations of being a good father strained their relationship even more.

"Why did you want to see me now, Dad?" Bonnie's voice trembled with frustration. "It's not like we've been close lately. You never addressed Abby's death, and it seemed like you had other things that were more important."

Rudy's face darkened as he struggled to find the right words. He didn't like discussing the supernatural world or the powers Bonnie possessed. He was never comfortable with it, but he knew he couldn't avoid it forever.

"I'm sorry, Bonnie. I was scared. I didn't know how to handle everything, especially after your mom left. I thought pushing you away would protect you. I see now that it was a mistake." Rudy's voice wavered as he spoke.

She couldn't help but notice the thick vein pulsing in his neck as he talked. It was a sign of his anxiety, and she wondered if her abilities frightened him more than he was willing to admit.

"You're still afraid of me, aren't you? You're afraid of what I'm capable of."

Rudy hesitated for a moment before he finally admitted, "Yes, Bonnie, I was scared when you displayed such powerful abilities at a very young age. I didn't know how to deal with it. I've never been a fan of the supernatural world, but I know you and your mom didn't have a choice."

She nodded, her anger softening into understanding. "I know, Dad. I get it, but that's not an excuse for pushing me away and isolating yourself. You've always been working tirelessly, taking long business trips. I deserved more than the minimum."

Rudy sighed and looked down at his hands. He knew Bonnie was right. He had let her down, and it was a regret that gnawed at him. "I love you, Bonnie. I was scared, and I made a lot of mistakes."

Bonnie's determination wavered when she noticed her father's weakness. She'd at last met family who cared about her and had shown her the kind of love she'd always wanted. Rudy listened closely as she described how her life had altered in one instant.

"Well, I can't say that I didn't expect you to live in Mystic Falls forever. And since I've been a willing participant of not being involved in your life like a father should I don't blame you." Rudy admitted.

"Thank you for understanding," Bonnie said, wiping away a tear. "I hope you can be happy for me because, for the first time in a long time, I believe that life is going to get better."

Rudy nodded reluctantly, his heart heavy with the weight of regret and so many missed opportunities. "Of course Bonnie. I just want you to be happy."

The tension between them began to dissipate following their heart-to-heart conversation. They finished their lunch in comfortable conversation. Then, they spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the park, feeding ducks, and rediscovering the bond that had been strained for so long. For a few hours, they were just father and daughter wishing for a better future and letting go of the past.

A Gift of a Lifetime…..

As the sun set below the horizon, it cast a golden glow on the peaceful suburban street. After spending the day with her father, who had prolonged their emotional farewell, Bonnie had recently come to appreciate the idea of a quiet evening at home. Just as she thought she could finally relax, the doorbell unexpectedly rang, causing her to approach the front door.

As Bonnie swung the door open, her breath caught in her throat. A tall and imposing figure at an impressive 6'3", filled her doorway. Her gaze traveled from his black boots, grounding him firmly to the ground, up to his impeccably tailored dark jeans, which accentuated his muscular legs. From there, her eyes ascended to his stylish leather jacket.

But Bonnie's scrutiny didn't stop there. It continued upwards, ultimately reaching his face, which was quite something to see. The stranger's rugged charm was a perfect complement to his striking appearance, with a well-defined jawline that emphasized his masculinity and a noticeable five o'clock shadow, giving him a laid-back allure. His dark blond hair was pulled back into a man bun. He reminded her of her favorite character Jax Teller of SOA.

However, what truly held Bonnie's attention were his deep-set, soulful brown eyes. They seemed to hold an unspoken depth of experiences, making it almost impossible for her to tear her gaze away.

Even though his edgy outfit and sense of style showed an appreciation for the finer things in life, he embodied physical strength. Bonnie was momentarily mesmerized, as if he had walked right off of a New York fashion runway.

When Gabriel finally spoke, Bonnie was jolted out of her reverie. His voice was deep and velvety, tinged with warmth that contrasted sharply with his imposing exterior.

"Bonnie Bennett?" Gabriel inquired politely, extending a beautifully wrapped gift toward her.

She nodded, her curiosity piqued as she accepted the elegantly presented package. "Yes, that's me."

"Klaus asked me to deliver this to you," Gabriel explained with a respectful nod. "By the way, I'm Gabriel."

As she held the package, she couldn't help but glance at the card that accompanied it. 'Use it wisely,' it read, signed simply 'Fond regards, Klaus Mikaelson.' Bonnie couldn't help but smile, the message was enigmatic, just like the original hybrid.

Unable to resist her curiosity, she carefully unwrapped the gift. Her breath hitched as she revealed a gracefully aged grimoire, containing spells, rituals, and magical knowledge beyond her wildest dreams. It was a priceless artifact, proof of Klaus's extensive knowledge of magic.

"This is incredible," she muttered to herself. It was a gift that spoke volumes about the complexity of Klaus Mikaelson, the man who had inspired fear and fascination in her.

Turning her gaze back to Gabriel, Bonnie asked, "Where is he? I need to thank him."

He hesitated for a moment . "Sorry, Bonnie. He left town early this morning."

"What?" she whispered, her voice trembling. The news hit her like a lightning bolt, and her heart sank. The urge to see him one last time had taken hold, though she was unable to pinpoint why.

With an apologetic look and a subdued shrug, Gabriel turned to walk away, leaving Bonnie alone with her thoughts and the invaluable gift in her hands.

She thought about the man who had given it to her. Despite the regrets and unspoken feelings between them, Bonnie knew Klaus made a lasting impression. She couldn't help but wish there'd been a moment for another kiss, to keep the memory of the abstruse vampire who had sparked something inside her.

As the first light of day peeks through the curtains of her temporary bedroom, Lucy slowly awakens. There's a buzz of excitement in the air and she can't help but feel it pulsing through her body.

She discovers Bonnie sound asleep. She gently shakes her. "Hey sleepy head, it's time to wake up. Today's the day, remember?"

Bonnie stirs, rubbing her eyes and then smiling at Lucy as the day's schedule starts to sink in. "Yes! Europe, here we come!"

"Go take a shower," Lucy suggested. "There are croissants and fresh fruit waiting, and a pot of coffee brewing."

Bonnie sprang out of bed without hesitation. After a refreshing shower, she joined Lucy in the kitchen, just as Caroline and Matt walked in to join them.

"Hey, guys!" Bonnie greeted her best friends. Matt and Caroline exchanged a hug with Bonnie.

"Hey what's up?" Ready for your trip?" Matt asked.

"Hell yeah!" Bonnie answered with enthusiasm, but there was a slight feeling of sadness. She knew that this chapter of her life was coming to an end. "What about you? When do you and Rebekah leave?"

"Tomorrow. I was waiting for my passport," Matt explained.

Caroline chimed in, "Ah, you guys, I feel like such a loser."

"Stop," Bonnie said, trying to console her. "Aren't you spending the summer with your dad at his lake house?"

"Yeah, so?" Caroline pouted. "It's not Paris or a year-long trip," she added, casting her friends with puppy-dog eyes.

Matt and Bonnie exchanged amused glances and rolled their eyes at their dramatic friend's antics.

"Ah come here Care. You can always come with." Bonnie suggested.

"I know, but I promised my dad. This is what he's been looking forward to. To be completely honest, I believe that he is finally ready to introduce me to this guy that he has been seeing, it seems serious."

With plates and mugs in hand, Lucy approached and set them on the table. "Thank you, guys, for everything," Lucy expressed her gratitude. "You've been like family to us."

"I'll miss you both so much," Bonnie admitted, her eyes welling up with tears.

"I'll miss you both too," Caroline replied, equally emotional. "But this is your chance to explore the world and live your dreams. I couldn't be happier for you." she assured her.

The three friends, along with Lucy, gathered around the table to enjoy breakfast. They reminisced about their best childhood memories of one another and discussed their future plans.

After enjoying their last meal together, they hugged and said their final goodbyes, making promises to stay in touch and visit whenever they could.

Caroline held Bonnie in a tight hug, her eyes filled with excitement and love.

"Don't forget to post your epic stories!" Caroline enthusiastically reminded her.

They were aware that Bonnie, their go-to fallback, was not an option this time.

Stefan turned to Elena, his face etched with worry, and said, "Elena, we need a witch."

She looked at him as if he had just suggested something utterly impossible. "Are you kidding me, Stefan? I already told you that Bonnie wants nothing to do with us. We have to find another way. Besides, breaking a promise to her won't make things any better, and there's a high likelihood she won't help anyway."

"Fuck!" Stefan yelled, his voice filled with pain. It had been a long time since they had to rely on their own devices, and Bonnie had always been the one to handle the heavy lifting. He took a deep breath and conceded, "Okay, yeah, you're right. I may know someone else who can help."

Farewell…..

Lucy and Bonnie clutched their tote bags, prepared to head out. Standing in the living room, they took one last look around.

Bonnie sighed, her gaze sweeping the familiar space. "I can't believe I'm actually leaving this place. So many memories here."

Lucy offered a comforting smile. "It's bittersweet."

One last meaningful look around they wheeled their suitcases out the door to the awaiting sleek black car. Bonnie stopped short and turned to face the place that brought her comfort her entire life. It was the place where she had spent the greater part of her life, and now, she was leaving it behind.

Resolute. "Goodbye, house," she whispered, then pivoted and joined her cousin in the back seat.

Lila threw herself into using every resource at her disposal to try and figure out how and why the supernatural world didn't know much about the Bennett witches. Her optimism began to fade, but as she was losing herself in her thoughts, she felt the vibration of a phone call. The moment the name appeared on the screen, a warm smile appeared on her face.

"Stefan, darling," she purred into the phone, "What do I owe the pleasure?"

Stefan's voice sounded both relieved and distant as he replied, "Hey, Lila. It's been a long time."

Lila's smile faltered slightly, sensing the seriousness in Stefan's tone. "Yes, too long. What's up?"

He hesitated for a moment, then admitted, "I need a favor."

Lila wasted no time and rushed to find Malachi, she quickly addressed him, "Malachi, I think I might've found a way to cash in on a favor or two."

Intrigued, Malachi leaned forward, his interest clearly piqued. " Do tell."

Wild-eyed and disheveled, Damon paces back and forth, his movements verging on hysteria. He mutters to himself, a cacophony of incoherent ramblings and laughter. Elena looks on helplessly as he seems to be on the verge of losing his mind.

Her concern for Damon was audible in her trembling voice as she spoke. Stefan stood next to her, debating the few choices at his disposal. He inhaled deeply before bringing up the touchy subject.

"Stefan, we can't let him stay like this. He's losing his mind down here."

He looks torn, but he knows they have limited options. Stefan takes a deep breath before he begins to speak. "Elena, there might be a way to help him, but it's complicated. Back in the early 2000s, I met a witch named Lila."

She raised an eyebrow, implying that Stefan and Lila were more than just friends. "Lila, huh? It sounds like you two were close."

He shifted uncomfortably under her gaze. "It wasn't like that, Elena. But... well, it's not entirely unbelievable."

Stefan cleared his throat, then went into more detail about his reasons for cutting ties with her. "Lila got involved with a coven that practices dark magic that bordered on tyranny. They preferred dangerous rituals, so I had to disappear. She may be the only person who can help Damon. The rate at which his condition is deteriorating could drive him permanently insane."

Reluctantly, Elena accepted the gravity of the situation. "Alright, Stefan. If you believe it's the only way, then we don't have a choice. But I hope you know what you're doing."

Stefan nodded, his expression solemn, contemplating the potential repercussions of their actions. "Me too," he muttered quietly.

With the decision made, Stefan understood that involving Lila was their last resort, even if it meant dealing with a witch who had ventured deep into the dark realms of magic.

Monaco Bound….

Soft ambient lighting bathed the first-class cabin, as Bonnie and Lucy relaxed side by side in their roomy, cozy pods, looking forward to their trip to Monaco. Flight attendants strolled down the aisle, offering warm towels and glasses of bubbling champagne.

They exchange excited glances and raise their glasses for a toast. "To an unforgettable experience!"

"Cheers, Bonnie! I can't wait to hit the shops and nightlife!"

They clinked their glasses, their excitement evident.

Curious, Bonnie took in the array of amenities, which included premium headphones, a luxurious eye mask for a good night's sleep, and the airline's exclusive skincare collection.

After savoring a gourmet meal, they reclined their seats and watched a movie on their personal mini flat screens. After they drifted off to sleep, they awoke to find the cabin lights softly dimming, a sign that the airplane was approaching its destination.

CAPTAIN (via intercom) Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We hope you're enjoying your flight with us. We are now beginning our descent into the beautiful city of Monaco. The weather is clear, and we expect a smooth landing.

Bonnie and Lucy exchange excited glances once again, their anticipation growing by the second.

CAPTAIN (via intercom) As we prepare for landing, we kindly ask you to fasten your seat belts, return your seats to the upright position, and stow away any loose belongings. The cabin crew will now make their final checks.

They followed the captain's instructions, making sure everything is in order for landing.

CAPTAIN (via intercom) Thank you for choosing our airline for your journey today. On behalf of the entire crew, I'd like to wish you a fantastic stay in Monaco, whether you're here for business or pleasure.

"We're finally here!" Lucy squealed.

"I know!" Bonnie mirrored her cousin's contagious enthusiasm.

The airplane continues its descent, offering breathtaking views of the French Riviera and the glittering Mediterranean Sea below.

As the plane approaches the runway, Bonnie and Lucy grip each other's hands. The landing is seamless, and the intercom crackles once more.

CAPTAIN (via intercom) Welcome to Monaco, ladies and gentlemen! We hope you had a pleasant flight, and we wish you an incredible time in this glamorous city. Thank you for choosing to fly with us, and we look forward to serving you again soon.

Lila had finally arrived in Mystic Falls after convincing her mentor to let her go alone. She was aware that his presence might arouse suspicions and lead to conflict. She hoped that Stefan, who had a solid reputation in the paranormal community, would know something about the infamous Bennett witches.

Malachi was forced to accept Lila's plan after she told him what she had in mind. His pride in his protege's tenacity was unavoidable.

Lila was committed to finding a solution for Stefan, but she was also looking for something in return.

Stefan wasn't thrilled about the idea, but he also couldn't ignore the fact that his brother was being mentally tormented by Klaus's compulsion. With a heavy sigh, he agreed to Lila's terms.

She gave him a sardonic grin, knowing that she had him by the balls. "All right, let's get started."

Lila began performing the challenging spell to break the Original's compulsion. It was a long and arduous process, but once the spell was complete, they immediately noticed a change in Damon's demeanor. He was his usual self again, although still showing signs of wear from the past few days.

Stefan helped his drained brother up to his room to rest and recuperate. While Damon was grateful to be free from Klaus's compulsion, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something off about the witch who had helped release him. He tried to express his unease to Stefan, but his brother brushed it off, insisting that he needed to rest.

Meanwhile, Lila was pleased that the spell her mentor had found worked flawlessly. She was one step closer to achieving her mission, and it brought a sense of accomplishment.

After helping Damon, Stefan met Lila in the living room. She was curiously looking around the mansion as if assessing her surroundings. "Thank you again, Lila," Stefan said.

She whirled around, smiling like a cat that ate the canary. "Of course, Stefan! However, as we agreed, my services aren't free."

Stefan huffed with agitation. "Okay, what is it that I can help you with?"

At the mention of the Bennett name, Stefan couldn't hide a reaction. He stiffened, hoping his faux pas had gone unnoticed, but Lila clearly saw it. "Ah, so you do know?" She teased, toying with him.

Stefan tried to play it off, claiming he had no idea what she was talking about. But Lila wasn't buying it. "Oh, silly Stefan, I guess you forgot who you're messing with. We can do this the easy way or the fun way," she said sardonically.

Trying to remain loyal and not reveal any information, called her bluff. "Do as you see fit, but I don't know anyone by that name."

Before he knew it, he was on the floor, in excruciating pain, grabbing his head and writhing. Lila delved into his memories and saw fragments of a local woman named Sheila Bennett who had lived in Mystic Falls for a long time before recently passing away. She also caught a glimpse of a young, beautiful woman who resembled her, likely her granddaughter. But the memory dissolved into a fog, and Stefan managed to push her out.

Lila was impressed by his resilience but still managed to get some valuable information. She now knew there was another descendant that wasn't with them on the night the Bennett clan had intervened. Feeling smug, she wanted to show Stefan that he was powerless against her.

"Thanks, Stefan. It's been great catching up. Call me, maybe we can hang out like the old days," she said before leaving, feeling victorious.

Once the pain subsided, Stefan immediately grabbed his phone to call Elena, intending to warn Bonnie. He knew Bonnie would probably refuse a call from him, given her aversion to anything Salvatore-related, but he had to try to protect her at any cost, it was the least he could do.

Lila's heart was racing as she drove her rental to the airport. The realization that she had found a missing piece of the puzzle had her on cloud nine. She couldn't contain her excitement and knew she had to share the news with Malachi immediately.

She dialed his number, her fingers trembling with anticipation. The phone rang, and on the other end, Malachi's voice came through, brimming with curiosity, "Lila, I can feel your excitement, did you find something?"

Lila could hardly contain her grin. "Malachi, you won't believe it. It's about a mysterious young woman that the Salvatores were somehow close with and is definitely connected to the Bennetts."

Malachi's excitement was palpable even through the phone. "That's incredible news, Lila! You've done a fantastic job. Tell me more."

"I don't have all the answers yet, but I'm on my way to the airport. I wanted to share the news with you immediately."

"You did well. But remember, I won't rest until we have everything we need to take them down. I won't be happy until we know their exact location."

Lila nodded, even though Malachi couldn't see her. "I understand, Malachi. We're one step closer now. We won't stop until they pay for interfering."

Lucy and Bonnie entered the opulent resort's lobby. Excitement permeated the air, and the whole scene seemed to be buzzing with the prospect of a carefree getaway. The two had entered a realm where time appeared to go on forever.

Bonnie's eyes sparkled with anticipation, and Lucy couldn't help but mirror her cousin's infectious enthusiasm. As they settled into their new home away from home, the weight of responsibilities and burdens seemed to lift from their shoulders, replaced by a sense of freedom.

Eager to make the most of this newfound liberation, they wasted no time in diving into the French Riviera. They were drawn to the city's upscale clothing stores, and with each purchase, they embraced the opportunity to express themselves in ways they had never dared to do before. As they sauntered through the city streets donning the latest couture, chic accessories, and fashionable shoes, they attracted attention and exuded confidence.

Dancing, laughing, and glass clinking filled the evenings. They found themselves in trendy clubs, where the throbbing beats of music mingled with their carefree laughter. As the city lights shimmered like a kaleidoscope and cocktails flowed freely, they embraced the rhythm of the night. Every second was a celebration of the here and now, an expression of the happiness that comes from being alive and free.

They stumbled upon the city's hidden treasures, including charming cafes, lively markets, and stunning landmarks, amid the chaos of excitement. There was exploration during the day and partying at night. They relished each delicious meal, as they indulged in the best food the city had to offer.

As their trip came to an end, Bonnie and Lucy made the decision to reward themselves with a day at the spa at the resort before leaving for their next destination. The spa treated them like royalty, a haven of peace and relaxation. Bonnie's weary muscles were magically soothed by expert hands, making her feel like a queen.

It turned out that the trip was more than just a diversion from reality; it was a route toward happiness and self-realization. They took the memories of their carefree days in Monaco with them when they boarded the plane to Paris, memories that would always hold a special place.
