Zarc came to the daycare after work two days later to find a very messy Yuri looking very pleased with himself. The tiny cabbage was simply covered in potting soil, and the daycare workers were trying to clean him up.
"Hey, kiddo!" Zarc said, smiling at Yuri. "Whatcha been up to?"
Yuri looked up at Zarc proudly. "Seeds."
"Seeds?" Zarc asked. One of the workers trying to clean Yuri sighed. "He's been planting jelly beans in the flowerbeds all day, calling them seeds. He even managed to find a watering can, and tried to water the jelly beans."
Starve Venom chuckled. "Our lil gardener!" Zarc chuckled as well. "Perhaps I should get you some real seeds so you can plant them at home, hmm?"
Yuri bobbed excitedly, reaching to Zarc for uppies. Zarc smiled and picked him up, ignoring the fact that the potting soil all over the tiny baby was getting all over himself. "C'mon, sweetie, we'll go to the garden shop and buy a bunch of pots and soil and seeds!"
"Seeds," Yuri said, nodding solemnly.
And so the little family stopped by the local garden store on the way home. Yuri appeared to be very excited, pointing at all the potted plants with happy squeaks and stars in his eyes. It was becoming increasingly obvious that he would be an avid gardener, so Zarc bought as many garden planters, potting soils, fertilizers, gardening tools, and seed packets as he could fit in the cart. He made sure to grab a wide variety of seeds including seeds for flowers, veggies, herbs, fruits, berries, and trees.
As soon as the little family got home, Yuri started rummaging through the bags for his seeds. He pulled out a packet of zinnia seeds and showed them to Starve Venom excitedly. "Seeds!"
"Yes, those are very nice seeds," Starve Venom said, picking Yuri up to snuggle him. "Wanna plant some?"
"Yes!" Yuri squealed, wiggling in Starve Venom's arms. Zarc chuckled. "Well then, let's go to the backyard and set up the new planters!"
"Yay!" Yuri cheered. "Seeds!"
