Luz awoke to the sound of her phone ringing."Ugh 5 more minutes." Amity groaned as she covered her ears with her pillow to silence the noise. Luz went to pick it up."Hello, who is calling?" Luz remarked in a voice that was barely audible." Hello this is Ramon, I am the driver picking you and your wife for the rainforest slide and zipline tour." He said in a crystal clear voice."Oh that nice." Luz said, having not processed the call. "Well I am calling to remind you I will be by the Hotel to pick you up at 10 am so please be ready by then as I have others I have to pick up." Ramon remarked.
"Ok we will be ready." Luz replied just wanting him to end the call so she could rest."Ok then, don't forget you need to wear socks to go down the slide and the zipline company requires that you wear closed means no sandals or flip flops." Ramon remarked. "Yes I got it, have a nice day." Luz said, hanging up the phone before climbing back into bed. "Who was that?" Amity asked."Oh just a tour guide reminding us that he will be here at 10am to pick us that's nice of what time is it?" Amity asked as Luz pulled out her phone as her eyes bulged when she looked at the screen."Oh titan it's 9:10am!" Luz remarked as the two quickly scrambled out of bed. "Luz why didn't you set an alarm." Amity said as she hastily began putting on her swimsuit."Sorry batata I guess I was so exhausted from the bio bay tour I forgot." Luz remarked as she began brushing her hair in a best effort to make herself look respectable. After 10 minutes the 2 had managed to get themselves ready for the day and scrambled out the hotel room to grab breakfast….
50 Minutes Later….
Luz and Amity had just finished wolfing down coffee and bagels when Luz got a buzz on her phone. It was Ramon, his bus was right in front of the hotel. The two made their way with their bag in tow."Amity, you packed the towels right." Luz asked as they approached a large white bus."Yes and I brought an extra pair of shoes for us." Amity remarked as she zipped up their travel bag. As they approached Ramon they got a good look at the man. He was an older individual about 5ft 9 in his 50s, He had a very tan complexion with gray hair and beard. He wore tan pants along with a white guayabera and a pair of sunglasses. "Ah you must be Luz and Amity, nice to meet you." Ramon remarked as he went to shake both of their hands. "It's great to meet you as well." Luz replied. "Well we're gonna start off with Las Paylas and after an hour we're gonna hit the zip lines then I'll drop you off at the hotel." Ramon remarked as the three climbed aboard the bus and headed off."Are there any others joining us?" Amity asked. "Yes I'm picking up a group of 3 right now." Ramon said as the bus made its way through busy San Juan traffic….
40 Minutes Later…..
The bus pulled to a halt in front of a local's house. "Ok folks, now to get to the slide we have to pass through this local's house. If you need to use the bathroom it will cost $1 per person." Ramon said. Luz looked back at the other group they had picked up. There were 2 women and a male. Of the group 2 were clearly fraternal twins with similar brown hair and the other was a blonde. They had introduced themselves as Mable and Dipper Pines and Pacifica entire Drive to the slide Dipper had been meticulously listening to stories Ramon had told about Puerto Rico and its legends. None more famous than the Chupacabra."What are you three doing here." Luz asked. "Well our great uncle is currently studying strange phenomenons in Puerto Rico. My sister thought it would be a good idea to visit and I brought my girlfriends along." Dipper said as they made their way past the local house.
" Well we are here on our honeymoon." Luz remarked."Aw congrats you two." Mabel remarked as they made their way down towards the slide. The path was not a simple one. Rocks and roots covered the steep decline towards the slide. As they reached the bottom they saw a man inspecting the conditions. He was in his mid 20's with short hair and wearing a tank top and swimming shorts." There's my assistant Francisco" Ramon stated As he went to To discuss with Francisco the conditions of the slide. "Well thankfully it seems last night's rainfall hasn't had much of an effect on the water levels and it should still be safe to use." Francisco said as he took off his shirt Revealing a 6 pack of abs. Mabel suddenly caught a glimpse and went into daydream mode only for Dipper to get her back to her senses. With that out of the way the group began to undress,down to their swimsuits leaving their outer clothing hanging on a nearby tree branch with their shoes underneath. Ramon had told them they could leave their phones,jewelry and anything else of value with him and he would hold onto it. "Okay folks follow me." Fransisco said as he made his way across the river on top of several rocks that barely pierced the water's surface.
"Ok everybody, to get to the other side we have to dive into the do as I do and you will be fine." Fansisco stated as he dove into the water before reaching the other bank of the river. One by one the group did as instructed with Amity being the last to go. When Amity hit the water she was surprised at how cold the water was. It was nothing like the warm water of the beach. As she climbed out of the water taking the hair away from her face causing Luz to blush. The group quickly began following Francisco as they made their way up to the slide reaching the top in no time. "Ok everyone now do as I do. Arms up and body leaning forwards as you go down the slide so you don't get hurt." Fransico remarked as he positioned himself on the slide before nudging himself forward as he slid to the natural pool that lay below him bouncing off the rock before hitting the pool of water below coming up without a scratch. "Alright next one up!" He yelled as Mabel went splashing down in the pool before making her way to talk to Fansisco.
Next was Pacifica who splashed down as she muttered."Ugh this river water got something in my hair." As she made her way back to where their belongings were on the opposite bank of the was Dipper who was a bit skittish to go down but a quick push courtesy of Mabel who had climbed back up sent him into the pool below. Next was Amity who nudged forward sliding down the slick rocks and Landing in the pool below. Last was Luz who after nudging herself forward slid straight into the pool but not before making rough contact with a rock on the side of the slide. Making her way out of the water, Luz rubbed her hip as Amity went over to check on her."Are you ok batata?" Amity asked."Yes I'm fine, just a bit sore that's all."Why don't we relax in the lower pool until we leave. I can massage it if it hurts." Amity said, causing a blush from Luz. "Let's just relax, I'll be fine." Luz said as she and Amity made their way to where the river formed a small pool nearby to relax…..
1 Hour Later….
After the group had a few more turns on the slide they dried themselves up, changed their clothes and climbed back on the bus as they waved goodbye to Fansisco and made their way to the ziplines. The ziplines were in another area of the rainforest. It was a short 20 minute drive where the group chatted about their trip and where they were from."Ok everyone here we are." Ramon said as he pulled up before a dirt trail blocked by a gate."Just give me a second to let them know we are here and they can send the truck to get us."Ramon said as he pulled out his phone."Why do they have to send a truck." Dipper asked."The Ziplines are deeper in the rainforest and the only path is a dirt road that only a truck can handle." Ramon replied as the truck approached. The driver quickly climbed out and opened the the group walked up to the truck they saw it had its cargo bed modified to accommodate passengers. Suddenly a man hopped out of the truck." OK everybody hop into the back and I'll take you up to the ziplines." Laman said as he assisted everyone of the group into climbing into the back of the truck. Once everyone was on board he quickly climbed back to the driver's seat and the truck made its way up to the zip lines. The road up to the zip lines was incredibly rough and the truck constantly bounced around With everyone in the back holding on to each other. After a short ride they arrived up the ziplines where a small building was. As they were slowly lowered down from the truck back they made their way inside the building where a woman stood behind a desk." hello everyone. Before you may use the ziplines you have to fill out a bit of paperwork. It will take a few minutes then you'll meet with the instructors who'll explain how the ziplines work and give you your gear." She said as she headed each individual their paperwork before stopping to look at Pacifica." Excuse me mam, we specifically instructed you to wear closed footwear to take part in the ziplines you're wearing flip-flops. I'm sorry we can't allow you to use the ziplines." She explained as Dipper looked at Pacifica." I told you they weren't gonna make an exception and now we waste all that money on the zipline that you can't use." Dipper said frustrated. As the 2 argued back and forth, Luz took a glance at Pacifica's feet." I think you and I have similar foot sizes." Luz stated as she matched up her left foot with Pacifica's right foot." Yeah and so." Pacifica said." Well I have an extra pair of water shoes in my bag that should fit you." Luz said, pulling the pair out. Pacifica took the pair of shoes from Luz and thanked her as the woman cleared her to use the ziplines…..
10 Minutes later….
After a quick instruction of how to use the ziplines the group was given their gear as they made their way to the 1st zipline. Climbing up a tall metal platform where one of the instructors was waiting. "Ok everybody we're gonna go one at a time now who wants to go 1st?" He asked as Mabel was quick to raise her hand and walk towards the zipline. After setting her up he reminded her to break by using the brake glove not by squeezing on the line but by pulling down on the cable. Once she gave the thumbs up he sent her down as she sped towards the next platform."Alright who is next?" He asked as Pacifica walked over And she was sent down. Next was Dipper who despite being nervous managed to make it down without issue. Now it was Amity's turn and she was nervous as she looked down. "Luz I'm having second thoughts." She remarked. "Come on Amity, we have done more crazy things than this." Luz replied, giving her wife a kiss of encouragement. Amity walked over to the edge as the instructor hooked her up to the zipline. After checking to make sure Amity was secure he sent her down. Amity felt the wind whizz past her ears as she sped down the zipline. Glancing around she saw the beauty of El Yunque with its many trees. Then as soon as it began it was over. She reached the next platform braking as instructed where another one of the instructors assisted her in getting down. She opted to wait for Luz before moving on, watching with delight as Luz sped quickly down the zipline reaching the platform in no time. "See, that was such a bad sweet potato." Luz asked as the Instructor Hooked them up to the next zipline which had 2 lines side by side."Ok this one you don't need to break, just enjoy the ride." The Instructor said as he sent the two lovers down….
1 Hour later…
The group had wrapped up with the ziplines and were back on the bus heading to San Juan. Pacifica had returned the shoes. "Thanks again for letting me borrow your shoes." She exclaimed. Luz looked at her and nodded."It was no big deal. Besides, I'd hate to see someone spend money only for it to go to waste." Luz remarked. "Well it's only right if we return the favor and take you out for drinks." Dipper said. Luz and Amity nodded in agreement as the bus dropped them off in San Juan. As the group waved goodbye to Ramon they headed out to enjoy the thriving clubs of San Juan.
