Chapter 1: Sharing Old Stories. (Special thanks to Incrediblesfan1 for the request! Incredijet inspired by Kinect Rush dialogue. Evelyn backstory inspired by a work by Undreamtstories on DeviantArt.)
Many of the adults were sitting in the backyard while Karen and Mirage played with the kids.
"I gotta tell you, there's nothing like being back here and with friends!" Bob said as he sat with Helen, Winston, Evelyn, Rogard, Annie, and Dean.
"Isn't it the truth?" Helen asked.
"Well, it's certainly a treat having you guys back." Annie said.
"You know, we didn't get much time to know each other too well last time you guys were here. Why don't you tell us some about yourselves?" Dean said.
"Good point. Well, you know plenty about our superhero selves, but you don't know a lot about us as civilians. Well, after Supers became Illegal, we settled down and had our kids. Bob here always tried to find a job where he could help people, but something would always happen." Helen said.
"Come on, Helen, it's like I told you everytime." Bob said.
"Someone was in trouble." they both said.
"Of course, everytime I used my powers to resolve a situation, it meant a month and a half of trouble for Rick. Had to pay to keep the company quiet, damages, erase memories, and relocate our family. Of course, one of the times he had to interfere was one I honestly can't say I regret too bad." Bob said.
"Why is that?" Rogard asked.
"Well, before I worked for Winston, I worked for Insuricare. The manager, Gilbert Huph, constantly cheated customers out of their insurance money, causing me to exploit loopholes so I could help customers. One day, he called me into his office and he refused to let me step out to stop a mugging. The mugger got away and I got so mad I grabbed him by the throat and threw him through five walls, literally." Bob said, surprising everyone but Helen.
"Did he live?" Annie asked.
"Yeah, but I got fired. I wasn't too upset, though." Bob said.
"You know, Bob, that reminds me of a time when I had to deal with a kid with superpowers myself. I got a call from a small village that had been host to both a Super and a villain with the same power. I went there and met the Super, but for the time me and my troops were there, we had a hard time tracking down the villain. Then, sometime later, the villain appeared, but he seemed scared of us. When we managed to get him to land, we found out it was the same kid who was the hero. He dressed up like a villain just so his hero identity could have someone to battle. When we asked him what made him think of that, he said that every hero needs someone's butt to kick." Rogard said, making everyone laugh.
"You think that's crazy? You haven't heard about what Hogarth did when he was younger." Annie said.
"What's that?" Evelyn asked.
"When he was younger, he was out in the forest and he caught a critter. He brought it home and begged to keep it as a pet. I was reluctant at first, but I agreed to it eventually, provided he kept it in a cage. He did, and he took good care of it. Surprisingly, it was pretty friendly too. But, one day, I came home to Hogarth holding it and chuckling nervously in the middle of shredded furniture. Apparently, he felt sorry for it and set it free in the house. Once that happened, I had him release it back to the forest, which he did with no argument, knowing it was for the best." Annie said.
"What was it? A cat?" Winston asked.
"No, it was a raccoon." Annie said, making Helen's jaw drop.
"So, any interesting backstories from you, Dean?" Bob asked.
"Yes. I don't know if you'll find it humorous, but when I was a kid, my father told me that long ago, he saw something on TV about scrap metal being recycled, and it got him wondering if he could make good art out of scrap metal. As such, I would constantly watch him while he made his art. He always made interesting things. When he retired, I set some scrap metal aside in order to make art, but could never really do anything. Then, when the Giant saved our town, it really gave me inspiration. I experimented for a while before I made my best work yet. Remember the statue of the Giant in the park?" Dean said, which made Bob, Helen, Evelyn, and Winston look at him in shock.
"You were the one who made that?!" Helen asked. Dean chuckled confidently.
"Man, that reminds me of the time you built the first vehicle for us, Evelyn." Winston said.
"Yeah, in studying tech, I eventually got interested in vehicles, wondering if I could make vehicles for us. I had the blueprints, but I didn't have the skill at first. Eventually, I started getting better. After enough practice, I eventually got good with them." Evelyn said.
"Eventually, she started building vehicles like crazy. The Incrediboats are both her works, and she's even working on a jet. Even her suit is her own design. It's made from Omnidroid remains, but she made it herself." Winston said.
"Well, it seems like we all have our fair share of uniqueness about us, don't we?" Helen said.
