Last time: Cien got measurements for her new robes.

Now: Viran and Kyr acquired the new toys.

Chapter 17- Acquiring the X-Wings

Viran walked through the shipyard with a huge smile on his face as he led the family around. Their X-Wings were ready for pickup and Viran couldn't be more excited to pick them up. Sasha, who was pushing Lana's stroller and walking alongside Cien and Kait, snorted at her husband's excited energy.

"He's like a kid in a candy store," Sasha observed.

"Yep." Cien said.

"All three of them, really." Kait said, noting how excited Oppie seemed as well. And Kyr, though it was hard to tell under his armor.

"You know we could just go do something else if we want to leave them here for a few hours," Sasha stated, looking between them. "Of course that does come with the risk of them buying more ships."

QT whistled at their side with a worried tone.

"Don't worry, QT. We are not getting more droids," Sasha assured the droid as she understood what she said.

Tac whistled back at them in response, and QT sent him a raspberry.

"What are they saying?" Kait asked.

This time Sasha just shrugged. "I know a little of droid speak, but still not enough," she admitted. "So I'm not entirely sure what they said."

Kait looked around at the ships. "I was sort of thinking of buying a ship here soon, do you think they'd be able to help?" She said, gesturing to the boys that were slightly ahead of them. "Or would that be a bad idea?" She asked with a smirk.

"No, that would actually be a great idea," Sasha said, truthfully. "While he may be obsessed with ships, Viran knows a lot of really useful information on what to find and look for when it comes to ship purchasing and maintenance. And I'm sure Kyr and Op would love to help too as they know quite a bit."

"Op has been helping me look while he was giving me lessons on how to fly the last few months. I was thinking one of the Corellian ships but Incom also has a nice little light transport I was thinking would be interesting to look at." Kait said.

"Well ask the guys and see what they think," Sasha suggested, gesturing forward to them. "Maybe we can help you get a ship today too."

Kait nodded and spoke up. "I was looking to get a ship too, do you think they'd mind if we looked at any CL-84s they had in stock?"

Viran skidded to a stop and turned on his heel to face the women following them. "Really? I think I did see one here last time we were here," he said excitedly.

"Told you," Sasha smirked as she leaned against the handles of Lana's stroller.

"I've just seen pictures. I liked it a little more than the CEC ships." Kait said.

"Yeah, Incom is coming out with some really interesting civilian designs." Oppie nodded, remembering when they had been looking at them together.

"I do like my YT though." Kyr said. "After Tac was able to fix all the bugs in the computers."

"Well what are you looking for exactly in the ship? Because that will help me get a bit of an idea," Viran asked, curiously.

She shrugged. "Something w... I could live out of for a while since the marshal assignments seem to keep me moving a lot. Some living space, and a cargo bay section big enough for my speeder bike."

Viran thought to himself for a moment before slowly nodding. "Yeah the CL-84s would be perfect for what you are looking for. Plus they are affordable from what I've seen," he said. "We could all go see if they have one in stock."

"Sounds good to me. Other than looking at the feature list I don't know anything about what to really look for. They're way more complicated than bikes." Kait said.

"Well you have come to the right place with the right people," Viran said, smiling as he gestured to himself, Kyr and Oppie.

"Yeah, since you're in law enforcement you might also want something with a good interrogation room. I know a good supplier who can get you fake blood to throw around in it, so it's more realistic." Kyr said with a nod.

Kait looked at him sharply, and then threw a glance to Cien and Sasha.

"Kyr that might be a little… too much," Sasha said from meeting Kait's gaze before looking at Kyr with an unamused look.

"Sheesh, fine." Kyr said, looking away.

"He's kidding, right?" Kait asked worriedly.

"Uhhh…" Cien started. "Oh, is this the place?" She asked, looking at a building with a lot of ships around it, and two two-seater X-wings with a stark, factory finish off-white base paint scheme parked out front.

"Yes, it is," Viran said, immediately turning his attention to the X-Wings. He grinned at them. "Oh look how beautiful they are." He said as he approached them.

Cien looked at them, used to the various squadron markings she had seen aboard the Defiant. "They look… naked." She remarked, with a slight smirk.

"Yeah. Now I understand why they need a paint scheme," Sasha said, looking them over. "They look… weird without any other paint on it. Or even blaster scorch marks and carbon scoring."

"But they will get them soon," Viran said, running his hand carefully along the bottom of the nose.

Tac looked at the ships, and whistled a remark to QT, and she just responded with an excited whistle.

"Ah gentlemen, welcome back," a thick accented voice said from behind them. "Do you like the fighters?"

"Oh, I'm sure they're very disappointed." Cien said quietly to Sasha with a smirk.

Sasha put a hand to her mouth as she tried to suppress a laugh.

"They are gorgeous," Viran said, nearly drooling over them. He looked to the salesman. "So is there anything else we need to do before we can take them?"

"All I need is for you to sign a couple things and then they are all yours," the man said, smiling at them from under his mustache.

"Were you able to get the heated and ventilated seats?" Kyr asked.

"Yes, sir," the man said. "Just as requested. Would you like to check these babies over to make sure they are just what you wanted?"

"Yes, we want to make sure we have everything we discussed, " Viran said seriously even though his excitement to sit in the X-Wing wasn't lost on him in the Force. He was practically radiating it in the Force.

Sasha smirked at that.

"We also need to make sure Tac and QT are able to interface with them before we take delivery." Kyr pointed out.

Tac whistled at him indignantly.

"Well we were only able to bring you guys up to the one-three-six patch." Kyr pointed out to him. "We need to make sure before we get up to orbit and you guys can't plot a hyperspace route."

QT whistled quite indignantly.

"I'm sure you can. But we don't want you guys to be stranded up on orbit, do we?" He asked in reply.

Tac and QT just quietly groused between them in low whistles.

"Hey! My software is completely up to date, unlike you." Kyr growled at them.

Sasha and Viran chuckled at that.

"Alright, I'm going to start looking them over," Viran said as he made his way over to the ladder to climb into the cockpit.

"This is going to take awhile," Sasha said with a sigh. She looked between Kait and Cien. "Should we go look for your ship in the meantime?" She asked Kait.

"Yeah, I guess we can." Kait said.

"I'll go with you guys and let Op and Viran get acquainted with their new loves." Kyr said as he walked over to join them.

Sasha chuckled at that as she turned Lana's stroller around. They all started walking off into the shipyard, looking around at any possible ships that could work or the CL-84s.

"Do you think you'll do any prisoner hauling?" Kyr asked, getting down to business.

"Not often, I don't think I need a jail." Kait said.

"Brig. On a ship, it's a brig." Kyr said, Cien could hear the smirk under his buy'ce.

"Brig, then." Kait said with a not quite roll of her eyes.

"Something like a CL-84 might be good for now, but if this'll be a mobile apartment you might trade up in a bit." He suggested.

"Yeah, I usually get accommodations at the local embassy or hotels, though, so I'm not living on it full time." She pointed out.

"True." Kyr said as they approached the part of the lot where the CL-84s were. They actually had two there. They were like upsized U-Wings, with a larger body frame and S-foil wings that only folded backwards, so they looked like a C shape when they were in action. "These do look nice. Shades might like to play with it when you're on the Defiant."

"Shades just likes to fly," Sasha said simply. "But they are quite nice." She looked at Kait. "What do you think?"

"Bigger than I thought." Kait answered, eyeing it.

Sasha nodded at that. "Wanna take a look around and see if it's something you might get?" She suggested.

"Yeah." Kait said, stepping over to the back of the ship where the loading ramp was open and poking her head in as Kyr accompanied her.

Sasha followed Kait and Kyr around to the ramp, but she remained outside as she looked around at the exterior of the ship.

"What kind of bike do you have?" Kyr asked Kait.

"An Aratech 720." She replied, looking around the small cargo space that was in the back.

Kyr looked around the space. "Oh, nice." He observed, "this is big enough to get one in. Two might fit if Op got one." He thought aloud.

"How does it look in there?" Sasha asked from the ramp.

"Big." Kait said. "But, I guess if we wanted to get a bike… or two in here it would need to be."

"Sounds good," Sasha called back.

"Can I help you ladies find anything?" A voice spoke up from behind Cien and Sasha.

Sasha turned to see who was talking to them. A salesman approached the two of them with a creepy aura about him. Cien looked at him from where she stood next to Lana's stroller.

"Uh no, we're just looking," Sasha said, shaking her head.

"Are you sure? I know a couple of great large speeders that would be great for the whole family," The sleazy salesman said. "I can show you over to them. They are right over there." He gestured just down the lot from where they were.

"We don't need any help." Cien stated.

"Then are you interested in purchasing this ship?" He asked them both as he gestured to the CL-84. "I can hook you up with the greatest deal on this side of the galaxy."

"We are fine," Sasha said, dismissively. "Thanks."

"Well about this other ship I know of that could work great for you guys, if you want something more sporty?" He asked, still being persistent.

"We are happy with the ships we have." Cien stated darkly, staring him down.

"Uh, okay," The man said meeting her gaze and backing away uncomfortably. "If you need any help, I'll just be over there." He pointed back towards the main office before quickly turning and walking away.

Sasha rolled her eyes. "What a creep."

"Yes." Cien said, pleased with herself that she was still able to terrify people with just a look.

"Sasha, Cien, what do you guys think of this?" Kait asked, poking her head around the corner of the cargo ramp entrance to get their opinion.

"It looks nice and seems functional, but I'm not the expert in ships," Sasha said, shrugging. "If it can get me from point 'A' to point 'B' and does what I need it to do, it's a useful ship."

"It seems functional. It is about the same size as my ship, if it had the cargo bay in back." Cien observed. "I presume it has a shield system and weapons?" She asked.

Kyr nodded. "Yeah, it's got a Chempat shield system and two Taim and Bak cannons." Kyr said, looking at Cien proudly for asking the questions that really mattered.

Kait looked around the ship. "It seems nice but I feel like I need to do a ton of research on this. Before this I've just looked at bikes." She said, pursing her lips as she looked back towards the cockpit.

"We could talk with a sales person and see if you could take it for a little test fly." Kyr suggested.

Kait looked at the cockpit and shied away. "Nah. I've only been flying a few months now, I should wait. Seeing one of these close up is nice though, gives me an idea of what to look for."

Kyr nodded. "Yeah, when you feel like starting to look seriously, talk to Viran. I think the only thing he reads are ship magazines. Op knows his stuff to. Though you might consider something a little bigger than this. A light freighter is a handy size if you're going to be living out of it for an extended period, and you never know when the extra space might be handy in case you do actually need to transport a prisoner or something." Kyr said with a shrug.

"I'll keep that in mind." Kait said with a slightly worried glance.

"Maybe we can take a few photos of it and check with Viran and Op," Sasha suggested, noting Kait's worried glance. "See what they think."

"Sure." Kait replied with a shrug as she started walking down from the top of the ramp.

Kyr stepped out behind her. "No need to rush it. The Shadow was my first ship and I spent a few years looking for just the right mix of everything, and I've had it ever since then. We're happy to help you find just the right one." He offered.

"Thanks." Kait replied. "Yeah, I'm glad I was able to finally see one, especially without some creepy salesperson looming over me."

Sasha exchanged a look with Cien at that. "Yeah good thing," she said, smirking slightly.

"We would have driven them off if they were too obnoxious." Cien said with a smirk.

Sasha giggled under her breath. "Oh yes, we would have."
