(Earth-1320)
I landed in what appeared a snowy forest, most likely somewhere in Canada. "Okay? Now what exactly am I supposed to do here?" I thought out loud. "I believe that's where I come in, man." A voice came from the watch. It sounded kinda familiar. "So, Ace gave me an AI for an assistant?" I said. "He gave you an AI for a partner." He corrected, while emphasizing the "partner" part. "Assistant just sound demeaning." He added. I then realized who he sounded like. Kenan Thompson of SNL fame.
"So, what do I call you?" I asked, noticing he never introduced himself. "Ace wanted the honor of my designation being given by you." He told me. So he's unnamed. Huh? "How do you like the name 'Kenan'?" I asked him. "I like it. Makes me sound like a comedic genius." He says. I grin. He will be fun to work with.
"So, where are we, Kenan?" I asked him. "We are on Earth-1320 in the year 2038." Kenan identified. 2038? So the future. "1320?" I ask him. "Yeah. Ace named it. He really likes naming stuff." Kenan explained. "What's my earth called?" However, before he could answer, a growl was heard. I turned around and saw a creature close to my height. It was humanlike, but had a strange funguslike skin and instead of a nose and eyes, there was a flowerlike shape on its face. It looked strangely familiar. The creature roared and attempted to bite me. Before I could react, my helmet went up and my arm moved on its own to block the bite, while my other arm punched the creature back. "What the?! I didn't even..!" I started to say. "You didn't need to." Kenan chimed in, talking through my helmet like JARVIS or FRIDAY. "Ace designed me to be able to take control of your armor if it were ever necessary." He explained as I, or rather he controlling my suit, dodged another bite. "Fascinating! Now, how about you get me something useful!" I said, as we tried to avoid being chomped. The symbol on my gauntlet glowed and then a flash happened.
When the flash died down, I hadn't changed form, instead, I was know holding a high tech gun of some sort. I recognized it immediately. This was the Cold Gun from the Flash tv show in the Arrowverse. "Okay! Now this is awesome!" I had to say. The creature flung itself and I closed my eyes and fired the gun at it. When I opened my eyes, the creature was completely frozen. "Cill out, why don't ya?" Kenan gave a quip, I playfully rolled my eyes. I then examined the now frozen hostile. "Kenan, what are we looking at here?" I asked. My new partner scanned the creature and pulled up information on my HUD. "It appears to be a clicker. One stage of a parasitic infection that has terrorized Earth-1320 for years." Kenan explained. Clicker? Parasitic infection? Those terms sounded familiar. But from where? I got another look at the "clicker", when the realization hit me. "We're in the world of The Last of Us!" I said. A game buzzer sounded from my helmet. "That is correct! Someone give the man a prize!" Kenan said. I looked at the ice sculpture one more time. "Well, no use in keeping this around." As I use the cold gun to smash the clicker to pieces.
"So, what are we doing here, exactly? Ace didn't just send me to a random earth, did he?" I asked. "He didn't. You have a purpose here. A mission. You're here to save Joel Miller. And with him, Ellie Williams. Save them from those idiots, the Wolves or whatever they call themselves." Kenan informed. The fireflies? I then remembered. Joel would get murdered by Abby, leaving Ellie filled with a desire for revenge. I couldn't allow that to happen. "Point the way." Was all I said.
A map appeared on my HUD and immediately located Joel and Ellie. My watch glowed again and this time, it showed the image of a character I knew all too well. "I always wanted to do this." I said and, like all fans of Ben 10 would do, slammed my hand down on the watch. A silver light flashed and brightly covered the area.
(3rd person POV) Warning: may get violent
Ellie couldn't believe her eyes. One moment, she had just been talking with Dina. The next, she and Joel had been attacked by this group of people, them also having knocked out Tommy. Their apparent leader, a muscular blond woman with a ponytail, was standing over a beaten and bloodied Joel while holding a golf club. "Let us go!" Ellie stressed. The woman doesn't listen and continues to hit Joel until a shot is heard.
Everyone turns to see one of the men, Jordan, standing wide eyed with the back of his head smoking. "Jordan!" One of the girls in the group cried out in anguish. He then fell over dead and behind him reveals the man who shot him. He's wearing a silver armor with a cape and large rifle and a staff on his back. On one arm, he wore what appeared to be a wrist mounted flamethrower. He wore a silver helmet that covered his entire head that had a T-shaped visor. On his list wrist, there was a glowing silver watch. In his right hand, he held some kind of gun, clearly the weapon used to kill Jordan. A brown bag was tied to his belt. (We all know who this is)
"Sorry, I'm late, everyone! I was just taking care of something first." The armored man said, as he put away his gun . "Who the f #&k are you." The muscular woman demanded. "First of all, language." The man said, completely unfazed by her anger. "Second of all, I'm the guy who did this." He said as he chucked the bag he was carrying at the floor as something rolled out of it, the severed head of an elderly black man, one that the woman seemed to recognize. "Issac?" She said, shocked. "How the hell did this guy f #$king kill Isaac?!" One of the others asked. "Would you believe it was my suit that did most of the work?" The man joked(possibly?). Just then, he seemed to hit himself by punching his side. "Okay, fine, my suit did ALL of the work. You happy now?" He says to his watch of all things.
"Your leaders are dead. They didn't even have time to react. If you guys don't want to end up the same, leave now, and don't come back!" The man threatened. "Do you know what this son of a b#*ch did?! He killed my father!" The woman yelled. "Look, I get it. You're hurting." He started, before one of the other men, tried to charge him. Only to be shot down by the man without him even looking. Ellie then noticed how his gun didn't seem to shoot bullets, but, in fact, lasers. "Do you mind?" The man said with mock annoyance. "We're trying to have a conversation here." He told the now dead soldier. "Now, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted. I know it hurts to loose your dad. I might not have personal experience in the situation myself, but I know if you kill that man, you'll be putting another girl through the exact same situation." The man said. "What girl?" The woman demanded. "Her." He said, looking at Ellie. "I've seen this world's future. If you kill him, it won't heal your pain, it will make it worse. And this girl, you'll be sending her down the same path. She kills all your friends. You both end up with nothing." The man says, cryptically.
"He deserves it! He killed my father!" The woman said once again. "Did you ever stop to think why? It wasn't because he felt like it. It was to protect her. Your father was going to operate on her, thinking the fact she was immune would lead to a cure. He, along with other doctors, wanted to operate on her. But, the operation would kill her. He was quite the idiot." The man said. "Don't f #$king talk about my father like that!" The woman yelled. "Killing her wouldn't have gotten them a cure. The host dying would mean any potential "cure" would die too. Most doctors would know that. He did not. Any father would have done what Joel had." The armored man explained. "So, I almost died for nothing? I got mad at Joel for nothing?" Ellie realized. "Pretty much. But, it isn't your fault, Ellie. And as for you, you really think killing Joel will make everything better. Well, it won't. It will just cause Ellie and Tommy here to be fueled by the same vengeance you were. And they kill each of your friends. Each. And. Every. One. They'll be dead because of you, Abagail Anderson." The armored man declared.
The woman, now identified as Abby, went wide eyed. "How the f&#$k do you know my name?!" She demanded. "That's for me to know. Joel and Ellie, as well as their friends, are under my protection. To get them, you have to go through me. Or more accurately, I go through you." He declared. "You have two choices, Abby. You can drop your weapons, go on, and live another day. Or stay, just try to fight me, and, well, you and your friends will end up worse than these two." The man said, pointing to the dead soldiers.
Abby seemed to contemplate the ultimatum, before simply glaring at the armored man. "Kill him!" She ordered. "You know, I was kinda expecting this." He sighed as he got out his gun again. "May your death be swift, or whatever the hell it is you say." He said.
(Play the Mandalorian theme)
Three soldiers shot at the man, only for the bullets to bounce harmlessly off his armor and he blasted each of them down. A Hispanic man tried to attack him with a knife, the armored man stopped it with a punch to his gut, stunning him. Not only that, but the man activated his flamethrower, completely torching the Hispanic. "Burn in Hell, pendejo." The armor man spat. A man and two woman aimed their guns at him, only for him the reach out and push them back with what looked to be a telekinetic power of some kind. The man looked at his hand, as if he wasn't expecting that, either. As the three were about to get up, the armored man fired off miniature rockets that seemed to whistle from one of his gauntlets, cutting each of them down. "Mel!" One of the soldiers a man with a stubble, cried out. He turned to a dark skinned woman. "This isn't what we signed up for. Let's scram!" He told her as the tried to leave. The men holding down Ellie got the same idea as they tried to make a run for it too, only to be stopped by some sort of force field. "Oh, no! I gave Abby a chance to have you run. But she chose to stay. You decided how you entered, I decide how you leave." The armored man said, darkly. "Just kill him! He's only one f& #king guy!" Abby yelled.
"Please, spare us! Think of how many people Joel killed! Thin of how many people he.." The woman tried to say, before she started gasping for air and was lifted off the ground. The armored man walked to them, his hand stretched out in a crushing motion. "Don't pull that on me, Nora." He said in an angry tone. Nora's eyes widened as he knew her name. "What Joel did was to survive and protect the ones he cared about. Your group, on the other hand, killed for far worse." He finished as he closed his fist, a cracking sound was heard as Nora's body fell to the ground. "We didn't w-want to d-do it!" One of the other soldiers tried to explain. Oh, you didn't, did you? You were just following orders?" The man seemed to ask. The two soldiers nodded, thinking they were in the clear. "I always hated that excuse. It's how people try to justify themselves from horrible acts." The man said, aiming his gun. One of the soldiers pulled out a knife and tried to slash him. The armored man pulled out a metal staff and took out the soldier's leg, causing him to fall to his knees, before being shot by the man's gun. The armored man shot the other soldier before he could react.
The man then turned his attention to the stubbled man, ominously walking towards him. The stubbled man's blood quickly leaving his face. "Well, Owen. You were the only one here with a conscience. You didn't want to come her. So, how about I give you this chance to leave." The armored man said, as he began to open the force field. "Owen, don't leave! We can still kill him! Kill Joel!" Abby tried to convince him. Owen looked uncertain, before turning to the man. "Sorry, but she needs this." Owen said in a regretful tone as he grabbed the knife of a fallen soldier and charged at the man. The man simply stepped aside and grabbed Owen by the neck and activated a jet pack he was wearing, carrying Owen into the air, and slamming him down, Owen did not get up. Owen simply gave Abby a hurt look before the light left his eyes.
(End Song)
The man stepped over the dead bodies as he walked to Abby. "You're friends are dead. Your father is dead. Even if you did kill Joel, what would you have had afterwards? This is what revenge gets you." The man said in a low voice. "Your father was even hesitant at first, wasn't he? But someone talked him back into to it. Who was it again?" The armored man asked, sarcastically. Ellie could see the muscular woman fuming. "Oh right, it was you, wasn't it. You talked your old man into doing the operation. You lead him to his death." The man said. Abby looked at the man, then at Joel, then her fallen friends, then back at the man. "Walk away, Ms Anderson. There's nothing for you here." He said. Abby's anger was growing even more as she as she raised her golf club. "F#$ k you!" Abby growled as she blindly swung, not knowing if she would hit Joel or the armored man. The armored man took a strange hilt from his belt and a glowing black sword blade came out of it. The sword cleaved through the club like butter, before the man turned Abby around to face him and jabbed the sword through her chest. "I would say I'm sorry it had to come to this. But, to be honest, I'm not. You brought this on yourself." The man said in a hushed tone. He deactivated the sword as Abby dropped to the ground.
The man then walked over to Joel, who was still barley conscious despite his pain. "Whatever you're going to do, just get it over with." Joel mumbled, not being able to see who was above him. "I plan on it." The armored man said as his watch began to glow. The man aimed it at the wounded Joel as he fired. "No!" Ellie cried out. However, instead of hurting Joel, the blast just made him glow blue. When the light died down, Joel looked completely healed, like the previous ambush didn't even happen. Ellie was amazed.
"Can you stand?" The man asked, lending a hand. "I think so." He groaned, as he accepted it. "Who are you?" Ellie had to ask. "Someone who just wants to help. Now let's get you guys out of here." He said as he pressed his watch. A blue portal opened up in front of them. Joel picked up the unconscious Tommy and looked at their mysterious savior. "Where does this lead?" He had to ask. "Somewhere safe. I'll make sure Dina and Jesse get there too" He simply stated. Ellie and Joel followed him through.
(Earth-NEXUS)
The trio, along with an unconscious Tommy, appeared in front of a farmhouse, similar to the one they lived in previously. To their left, out of another portal, came Dina, Jesse, and Tommy's wife(a/n. I forgot her name, sorry). Dina looked at her friend. "Ellie? What the hell is going on?" And who the hell is this?" She asked, eyeing the armored man with suspicion. "Dina, it's okay. He's a friend. He saved our lives." Ellie explained. Ellie and Joel gave a quick explanation of what happened. "Wow!" Jesse stated, amazed. "You're a badass!" Dina complimented the armored man. "Thanks, once again. We owe you." Ellie said, Joel and the now awake Tommy nodded in agreement. "Just fixing a mistake. Glad to help." The man said.
"Where are we, anyway?" Tommy asked. "It's an alternate earth. Ace so" A voice came from the armored man's watch. "Oh where are my manners? The name's Kenan. I'm the brains of this team." His watch said. "Woah? Woah? What the f& #k? An alternate earth? Are you shitting us right now?!" Ellie asked. "No. This is indeed an alternate earth. Here, there was never any outbreak of zombies. Hard to believe that in a world full of zombies, it was the humans that were the true monsters." Their savior said.
As the rest of the group went to see their new home, Joel and Ellie went to talk with the armored man. "Thank you, once again, for saving our owe you a big one." Joel said. The man waved it off. "Like I said. Just trying to do what's right." He said. "Speaking of what's right. Joel, our boss, Ace Xavier, also wanted to correct a mistake from your past". Kenan said as the watch began to glow. "Defender, would you please press that for me?" Kenan asked. The armored man, "Defender" as he was apparently called, did as he was instructed. Another portal opened and out of it stepped a young blonde girl and a dark haired tanned woman. Ellie didn't recognize the girl, but recognized the woman as Tess, an old partner of Joel's who died years ago. Joel on the other hand, it was like he saw a ghost when he saw the blonde girl.
"Sarah?" He said, not believing his eyes. "Daddy?" The girl said, her voice barely above a whisper. The little girl turned out to be Sarah Miller, Joel's daughter who died during the beginning of the zombie breakout. The reunited father and daughter wasted no time embracing each other in a hug, not wanting to lose one another again. "Sarah! Oh my god! Sarah!" Joel said, his hardened demeanor breaking as he allowed tears to fall. "Daddy! I was so scared!" Sarah said, as she cried into his arms. Tess walked over to Ellie. "You've grown, kid." Tess said. Ellie smiled. "Missed you too, Tess." Ellie, watching Joel and Sarah embrace, felt her heart warm at the sight. She then turned to Defender. "Did you really mean Joel would do anything for me?" She asked him. "Of course. You mean more to him than you will ever know." Defender said. Then Sarah and Joel walked over to them. "So, you're Ellie? Dad's told me all about you. Are you going to be my sister?" Sarah asked. Ellie was caught off guard by this and looked at Joel, who just smiled warmly at her and nodded. Ellie then turned back to Sarah. "Only if you let me." She says with a smile. "Only if you let me." She said with a wink. Sarah smiled brightly and brought her new sister in for a hug. The two also brought Joel into the embrace. Joel looked at Tess. "Glad to have you back, old friend." Joel said.
Though it was hidden behind the mask, Defender smiled warmly at this family moment. He turned and opened a portal, prepared to leave. "I hope you weren't thinking of leaving without saying goodbye." Ellie said. Joel walked up as well, with Sarah by his side. "I can't thank you enough for what you did." He said. Defender could see he truly meant it. "Don't mention it." Defender said, humbly. Defender taps his watch again and brings out a small device. He tossed it to Joel, who caught it. "That's a communication device. If you ever require my aid again, don't be afraid to call." Defender said. "Will we ever see you again?" Ellie asked. "Maybe you will. Maybe you won't." He shrugged. "Who are you, anyway?" Ellie asked. "Call me…the Omni Defender." He said as he entered the portal and disappeared.
Dina then came back out. "Aw. Did our mystery hero leave already? I wanted to personally thank him for saving you guys." Dina said. She then noticed that Ellie was looking at her with a big smile on her face. "Is everything okay?" Dina asked. Ellie kissed her gently on the lips. "Everything's perfect, Dina." Ellie said, love filling her voice. Dina just laughed at this. "I live you, Ellie Williams." Dina said. Ellie looked back at Joel and Sarah, her new family, before turning back to face her girlfriend. "Actually, I'm thinking it's Ellie Miller now." She said with a grin. Tess turned to Joel. "I have the feeling I've missed a lot." Tess said. Joel chuckled. "You have no idea. I'll fill you in." He said. Then Sarah came up to the four. "Come on, guys! Let's go check out our new home!" She excitedly said, pulling her new sister and her girlfriend by the arms, her father and Tess following after. "Okay! Okay! We're coming! Hold your horses!" Ellie laughed as she followed her new sister. She was so happy to be part of a real family now. Joel was happy to start his life over again.
(David Hall/Omni Defender's Bunker)(1st person)
The portal lead me into a bunker that Ace had made for me. I tapped on my watch and the Mandalorian armor changed back into my Omni Defender suit. My helmet retracted as I asked Kenan how I did. "You did remarkable well, David! Just check out the score!" Kenan said as a scoreboard. It showed 100% progress. 100 points gained. 35 XP gained. I was impressed with us. "That's great." I said, before I started feeling a little fatigued. "You know? How about we take a little break? No more missions today. I'm feeling a little..a little.." I didn't get to finish my sentence as I passed out from exhaustion. Kenan just laughed. "Good night, boss." He said, generating a blanket over my sleeping form.
(Breath of Relief. Wipes sweat off forehead)That was a long one! But it was worth it. Hope you all enjoyed this one. David meets his AI partner, Kenan(voiced by Kenan Thompson). He'll be there to help David whenever he needs it. Kenan can also take control of the Omni Defender armor from time to time, to explain how an inexperienced fighter like David can go up against strong opponents in the multiverse. In this chapter, David corrected one of the worst decisions in gaming history. He saved Joel and Ellie and gave them the happy ending they deserved. I don't play the Last of Us games, but I, as well as many others don't like the direction they took. David used Mandalorian(w/Grogu's force powers) to save them as a reference to the fact that Pedro Pascal played both Mando and Joel in the HBO series. The Omni Defender is set for more adventures coming soon. Comment below on what worlds you'd like to see David go to, who is in his harem, what forms he takes, which enemies he fights, and who he recruits.
