One Year Time Skip

After they had dealt with Dahlia, life continued on as normal. Nik and Iris raised their children with the love of their families, Elijah and Jenna were officially together and she had turned, Care, Fred and George were engaged, Finn and Sage spent time traveling but always made it a point to come home. Kol had finally convinced Bonnie to officially date him, Sheila somehow liked Kol, who knew that could happen. Rebecca still had her mystery guy, she wouldn't tell anyone who he was but she promised she would soon.

Sirius and Remus loved being grandpas. Henry and Lillian had to be the most spoiled kids on the earth. The magicals had been patiently waiting for the day that they would show their first accidental magic. Sirius was trying to figure out how to make flying brooms, he had given Iris her first and wanted to give her children theirs. Remus of course helped, he worried Sirius would put a rune wrong and blow the kids up.

Iris had contacted the Aunties to help with shopping and decorating for her children's first birthdays. She wanted to give them each what they loved but combine it together for one party. This left Nik and the uncles to babysit.

The kids were in the midst of an intense game of hide and seek, Uncle Elijah had been it and found everyone but them. Every man started to worry when it had been over thirty minutes and they still hadn't found the kids, none wanted to call Iris and tell her they had lost her children. She had the whole momma bear persona down.

Nik had finally broke, "I'm going to have to call her, I've lost our children. She's going to murder me" he starts freaking out.

Fred and George get an idea, "Before you call her" "Let us try something" they began to cast Homenum Revelio all over the house. It took a bit but they had finally come across them.

"Are they invisible" Elijah asks, confused.

"First accidental magic" Nik tells them, he had forgotten it could happen. Thank god he didn't have to call his wife now. Asking the twins to reverse it, they found the children sleeping.

"Guess you were to slow in finding them" Kol jokes, everyone except Elijah laughs.

Of course they didn't keep the incident quiet, Fred and George made sure to tell Iris and she laughed, looking to Nik she asked, "What would you have done if you had actually lost them"

Nik stared right in her eyes and answered, "I would have ran. You would have skinned me if I had" she laughs at him.

They had invited all their family and the few extras they knew. Cares mom, Jeremy, and Tyler. He had finally gotten his head out of his ass and spoke with Nik about becoming a hybrid. The big surprise was who accompanied Rebecca.

Nik was talking with Remus while Iris played with the kids, they had received more toys than anyone their age needed. Becca had been at the party but had stepped outside towards the end, she was going to introduce her secret boyfriend and she had went to get him.

You could have heard a pin drop when they walked back inside. Standing next to Becca was Stefan Salvatore. No one had seen or heard from him since the night they had taken care of Damon and Elena.

Iris was the first to move, standing and walking to him, "Come in and get some cake Stefan. It's nice to see you" she said and brought him further in. Becca gave her a grateful smile. That had been the cue for Nik to walk over. Everyone knew he had a habit of killing her boyfriends, Iris would make sure he didn't.

"Stefan, it's nice to know you are who my sister has been talking to" Nik looks to Becca, "I need to do something, I owe it to you" Becca was unsure of what he meant but Nik looked back at Stefan, "Remember" Stefan paused, looking between Nik and Becca.

"I had met you in the twenties in Chicago" he rasped out, Nik nodded.

"Mikael had found us and my sister didn't want to run, I'm sorry for making you forget" Nik apologizes. Iris grabs his hand and squeezes it.

"Let us introduce you to our kids" Iris said excitedly. The rest of the night was spent talking about what had been going on in Stefans life and talking about theirs.

Iris knew something was bothering Nik, he had been distracted lately. She had finally had enough, "Are you going to tell me what's wrong or just brood about it" she asks.

Nik sighs, looking to Iris and answering, "I need to go to New Orleans, the witches are reaching out for Kols help and he wants me to go with". Iris looks confused.

"Why is it such a big deal, we can go anytime" she says. The look on his face is enough answer, "You're not going without me, without us. How many times have we shown that we are stronger when united" she says softly, moving to sit on his lap.

Niks hands move to her hips, "Luv, its going to be dangerous. I don't want you or our children anywhere near that" he tells her, kissing her.

"Siri and Remy can watch them, we can take a week and go help Kol. We haven't left them for more than a night so a week could be like a second honeymoon" Iris tells him, kissing down his neck.

Nik pulls back to look at her face, "You're sure, I wouldn't want you to think you have to do this" he says, waiting for her answer.

"Nik, our family is important, the kids will be safe with their grandpas, and I can make sure you don't do anything that will get you killed" she says, trying to run when he tickles her sides.

Nik pulls her into his arms, resting his head on top of hers. "It's most likely going to get bloody, I haven't been back since we ran from Mikael. I use to run that city, it was our home" he takes a deep breath, "I miss it but I wouldn't go back without you, Henry and Lillian. You're my home now and I could just let Kol deal with it"

"Let's go help your brother and your city. I have never been so I'm excited to see it" she looks at Nik seductively, "Plus we could have a week of no kids in our bed" she finishes, kissing up his neck.

Nik returns her kisses, starting to pull her shirt up when the door opens. Nik quickly sets Iris to rights.

"Mommy" Henry calls out, "Daddy" Lillian adds. Iris smiles at Niks expression.

"Okay, a week does sound really good" he tells Iris.

Iris had made plans for Henry and Lillian to stay with their grandpas for the week, making sure they knew that they must be on their best behavior. She had to make sure Sirius knew as well. Poor Remus was going to be responsible for all of them.

Elijah had told them that he would meet them in New Orleans with Jenna, Finn was staying at the house with Becca and Stefan. They didn't want to take all protection away from the kids.

They had decided to fly down, renting a car they entered the city around four pm. Their first goal was to find Kol and Bonnie. They knew something big had happened for Kol to call in reinforcements.
