AS THE JOURNEY CONTINUES FOR ASH AND COMPANY, IT HAS BEEN A HECTIC TIME IN KANTO.
ALONGSIDE TAKING DOWN THE TRAINER WHO KIDNAPPED CHARLA, ASH AND SERENA REUNITED WITH RITCHIE AND GARY, ONE OF WHOM FINALLY HAS SPARKY BACK.
THEN, AFTER A SHOCKINGLY TOUGH BATTLE WITH SURGE, ASH AND PIKACHU HAD EARNED THEMSELVES NOT ONLY A THUNDERBADGE, BUT ALSO A LIGHT BALL, AS WELL AS A WARNING FROM SURGE ABOUT ONE OF THE REMAINING FEMALE GYM LEADERS NOT EXACLY BEING CHARITABLE WITH HIM.
HOWEVER, A SURPRISE OCCURRED WHEN ASH REURNED TO CERISE LABS, HOPING TO REUNITE WITH HIS FAIHFUL GHOST TYPE, BUT HE WAS NO WHERE TO BE SEEN AND THAT'S NO BECAUSE HE'S A GHOST!
NOW, IN THE SKIES ABOVE THE CERULEAN CAPE, HEY ARE HEADING TO THEIR NEXT DESTINATION!
THOUGH HOW THE LAST TIME THEY GOT THERE FROM VERMILLION ON THE GROUND IN ONE DAY IS STILL SOMETHING NO ONE OF THE ORIGINAL TRIO HAS FIGURED OUT.
"SERIOUSLY!? WHY DO WE NEED TO GO TO CERULEAN CAPE!?" Misty screeched as she held onto Gyarados for dear life.
"Because Dexter says we need to head up that way before we can get Butterfree his lover back." Ash told her as they banked left.
Ash was on Pidgeot, staying close to her back so as not to screw up her aerodynamics.
Serena was on Charla, with Ash's Charizard behind them, as she wanted to have a chance to fly with Serena on her back and help her get ready in case they had to have her rider Charla in a showcase.
That unfortunately meant that Brock had to ride on Fearow.
Who was constantly glaring at him.
"Yeah, I don't like this as much as you do, Sir Stares a lot. But Serena is adamant about this, so we gotta suck it up." Despite not watching where he was going, Fearow had an amazing sense of direction and was able to keep up with the others.
"Feeaaaarooooowwww." Was all that came out of him as he continued to glare at Brock.
"Um, sorry?" He asked before Fearow divebombed to the ground.
"FEAROW! STOP THAT THIS INSTANT!" Serena cried as Charla also streaked to the ground, with Charizard in hot pursuit in case she needed backup.
Pidgeot streaked and then got close enough to them that Brock was able to jump to Pidgeot, while Serena jumped on Fearow's back and began to try and calm him down.
That's when, unlike the last few times she had flown on his back, he tried to buck her off.
"FEAROW! WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO YOU!?" She cried as she grabbed onto his head.
Suddenly, Serena felt like something was attacking her mind, as she began to throw her head around in pain.
"Ash! What's going on!?" Misty yelled as she saw what was going on with Serena and Fearow right now.
"Fearow's never done this! He's loyal to Serena!" Brock pointed out as Ash began scanning the area with his eyes closed, trying to see if there was anything around.
And then the unmistakable color of pink was seen, signifying something was using psychic.
Pokémon or human? He couldn't tell since if a Psychic human was strong enough, they could pass off as a Pokémon.
"Charizard! Aim 45 degrees to the right! Something is using Psychic on them!"
Charizard instead Flare Blitzed the area.
And soon added a new tourist destination of a Charizard crater with a perfect mouth mark.
Serena and Fearow were desperate to try and get things under control.
Whatever it was that had attacked their minds, it wasn't as strong now.
That didn't mean that they could stop now.
Serena felt like something was clawing its way through her mind, like it was searching for something.
And she felt like something else was going on with Fearow's mind, like it was trying to bring out a suppressed memory.
Desperate, she grabbed onto Fearow's head and covered his ears (or whatever it is on a bird) and eyes.
"Fearow! Something is trying to take us down! Block it out!" Fearow began to shake pitch again, though this time it was not to get Serena off his back.
Thankfully, they were close enough to the ground that she could slide off his back as she attempted to block it out when it began to attack again.
Fearow was less lucky.
Given how he did a loop and slammed face first into the ground.
Serena was slowly getting up when a massive wave of Psionic energy really started to push into her mind.
If she could even see right now, she would have seen everyone get blown off course by the same energy.
Charla was with Charizard when the psychic attack blew them away from everyone.
And unfortunately, the Charizard training didn't include emergency crash landing procedures.
So right now, they had a worse sense of direction than Ash when they came to, on the ground all alone.
"Blast it! If only I had managed to catch up in time and grab Fearow, I wouldn't be separated from Serena-san!" Charla growled out, angered at losing her idol.
"Trust me, I know what it's like when you get hit by every attack in the book. That attack was indeed meant to knock us away from them and separate her from us!" Charizard replied as he tried to take off again to search via the air …
Only to have him learn how a ball on a string felt getting pulled back down to the ground and spun around.
"Well, guess we aren't searching from the sky any time soon." The echo from the hole said.
"I don't know if your still conscious, but I got her scent so we can try to get to her by walking." After some grumbling about how he hated walking on his stubby legs, Charizard came out of the hole and started moving with Charla to reunite with everyone.
Ash had just gotten out of the face first landing experience he just had when that psychic shockwave knocked everyone away and out.
Pulling his face out, he quickly checked on Dexter.
"Any damage?"
"NEGATIVE, BUT THE SHOCK OF THE SUDDEN STOP STILL HASN'T DONE ANYTHING FOR MY CIRCUITS. BEGINNING HOMING FUNCTION." With that, the big bulb on the upper left began to blink on and off.
"Do I need to do anything?"
"IT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF YOU WERE TO START SPINNING AROUND SO THAT I COULD GET A BETTER READOUT OF THE AREA SINCE I CAN ONLY SCAN IN THE GENERAL DIRECTION OF MY FRONT."
"Flat or upright?"
"JUST START SPINNING AROUND IN GENERAL DIRECTIONS, WE'LL FIGURE IT OUT FROM THERE, YOU DIRECTIONLESS WIND VANE."
Ash didn't appreciate the comment, but did as he was told, though slowly so that he didn't get himself dizzy.
"SIGNAL DETECTED. POKÉDEX SIGNAL 300 METERS AHEAD."
"We're that close to Serena?"
"UNKNOWN. I CANNOT TELL POKÉDEX SIGNALS APART. SO I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S MS. INFERIOR OR AN OLDER MODEL. RECON IS NEEDED."
Well, it was something at least.
Hopefully, the shaking hadn't woken up Pikachu from his nap in the bag.
He did not want to face an angered Pikachu who didn't have his mate.
Brock and Misty stirred as they had massive headaches.
Last thing Brock recalled was that he had been on the back of Pidgeot when the sudden Psychic wave had shoved him off right into Misty.
"OK. Crash landing. Since when do we actually land correctly?" He asked as Misty checked Gyarados' Pokéball, confirming he was in it.
"Probably when we aren't being the main targets, which is usually once in a Lunala Moon." Misty replied as she looked for a clearing.
"So, how do we get to the others? We don't exactly have any way of seeing Aura the way Ash does, and we don't know if that Psychic whatever is still around." Brock said as he got ready to release Steelix.
"Are you two alright?" a feminine voice asked as they turned around.
It was a young woman around the age of 25, with brown hair, grey pants, a white shirt covered by a researcher's coat, and black heels.
Misty immediately sensed Brock about to do his usual schtick, so she preemptively pinched his ear.
"Don't make me hunt down your Croagunk in Sinnoh, Brock." Brock grumbled something out about how he wouldn't have to do that after the Orange Islands, but Misty just glared at him.
"Sorry, the crash landing scrambled his brains, I'm Misty."
"And I take it he's the new Brock?" The woman giggled out.
"Yeah, my father was the – "Brock immediately screeched to a stop when he registered what she said.
"Wait. How did you know that!?" The woman just smiled.
Not an evil smile, but a heartwarming smile.
"You're not as old as the Brock I knew, and I recalled on Pokébook he had finally found a woman." She said as she then walked out in front of them.
"Anyway, I was out here looking for an old friend, when I saw what happened to you guys. Did you manage to get a look at what got you?" She asked as Brock and Misty ran to keep up with her, who was having no trouble outpacing them through the woods despite wearing heels.
"No, but the energy felt like Psychic Energy. Couldn't tell if it was a human or a Pokémon, unfortunately." Brock replied, as he very nearly fell off an exposed root.
"Hmm, there are no Psychic Type Pokémon native around here, except maybe Abra. And they are known to try and teleporting away if they see a Trainer. So, they wouldn't outright send a Psychic wave to people who are flying in the sky." The woman replied, as she flipped over a low hanging branch and landed gracefully on her feet.
"Question not related to that, how are you outpacing us?" The girl turned around with a smirk.
"My husband was a field researcher, and my brother oversaw the Viridian City Gym at one point. I made it a personal challenge to move around as good as them in these, plus you pick up a thing or two when your father is an ex-champion and the Professor of Kanto." She explained as she slid down an exposed root by using the space in her heels to stay steady on the root as she landed on what looked like the breakaway to a beach.
"Sorry for being so delayed, but from the sounds of it you're an Oak. Who are you?" Brock asked as she saw a lighthouse nearby.
"I'm Daisy. Daisy Oak." She replied as she then pointed to the lighthouse.
"And that's where my husband's house is." Brock and Misty, however, were looking at her in shock.
As well as a bit of jealousy from Misty.
'If only THIS Daisy was my sister, instead of Ms. Blonde!' she angrily thought, as they started walking over to the lighthouse.
"Surprised you're an Oak. The last Oak we met had a bit of an attitude problem from being the Grandson of Professor Oak." Brock mentioned, as Daisy let out a laugh.
"Yeah, that might be because his father disappeared into Johto after a mishap in Goldenrod City costed him a good friend." She explained, before seeing a stream of water burst out over the trees.
"And that's one of his old Pokémon that is staying with us! C'mon!" Daisy yelled as she started to run.
Misty and Brock followed closely behind her, worried about their friends if they saw an attack.
(EARLIER!)
Serena had finally been able to partially block out whatever was attacking her mind when she brought out Braixen and Zoroark.
Clearly, whatever it was that attacked them did not or was not capable of using Miracle Eye.
Fearow had been returned to his ball as she and her friends were starting to look around and try and make sense of where they were.
Currently, they began to hear the waves, indicating they were near a beach.
"C'mon! Maybe the Town Map can get a good signal there and we can figure out where we are!"
With that, they began to run towards the sound …
When the plants grabbed them from behind and threw them back.
"KYA!"
With that, the roots suddenly formed a wall that Serena knew Braixen couldn't burn or Zoroark couldn't slash.
"Great. Now how do we get out!?"
"You don't." An icy voice told her, as it sounded like it was behind her.
They whirled around and saw no one. They all knew, however, that it wasn't in their minds since Zoroark heard it as well.
"You have quite the untapped potential, young one. Why use it to protect others instead of using it to get what you want?" It asked as Serena began to hug Braixen, with Zoroark growling and standing in front of them.
"What do you mean!? I would never hurt anyone!"
"Such delicious Psychic potential in you, and yet you had the starting of the wretched Aura users? Well, we can squash that right out." One of the roots grabbed Zoroark by the ankles and threw her away.
"Once we get rid of certain obstacles of course. Such as that despicable Dark Type and the horrid one you call your love." That got under Serena's skin.
"WHAT did you say about Ash!?" She growled out, trying to find the source of the voice now.
"Now, now young one. Come with me and I can show you REAL power. Where having this 'HAPPINESS' will pale in comparison." Serena growled as she tried to look around …
Only to suddenly have something pop up in front of her face.
She leapt a good few feet backwards before this Psychic grabbed her.
"Now then, to try and unlock that power of yours."
All Serena knew at that point was pain, as this …
Thing?
Was pushing her mind to the limit, trying different techniques to do SOMETHING to her.
(BEFORE THE ABOVE SCENE, WITH ASH KETCHUM!)
Ash was really wishing that Oak had programmed a better tracking app in Dexter right now.
He had been searching for 15 minutes (though it might as well have been 2 hours to him, given how time is hard to tell when you're using Aura) for Serena, trying to find some clue as to her location.
Wasn't exactly going well.
"Great, might as well be a plant kinesis or whatever that's called." Ash grumbled as he debated bringing out Greninja, before he sensed the psychic energy trying to pull his ball away.
"DEH! Like Reverse World are you pulling this!" He shouted back before covering his hand in Aura and clipping the ball back to his belt, making sure to get the others covered in Aura as well.
"OK, something clearly doesn't want me to get to Serena. Well, be it Pokémon or human, NO ONE ATTACKS SERENA! ESPECIALLY NOT WHEN I HAVE FINALLY CONFESSED TO HER OR WHEN SHE IS ON THE CUSP OF LEARNING ABOUT HER PSYCHIC DESCENDANCY!" He declared as he then ran up a hill that overlooked the forest.
Quickly looking around he saw several trees moving around in the distance, forming a wall around an area.
"So, you don't want anyone getting in over there? Well, I'm going to snap every TWIG blocking my way!" He declared as he began running towards the area.
And very nearly got his head taken clean off by a root swiping at him.
"Oh, FANTASTIC. What, is there a telekinetic Venasaur around here!?" He questioned …
Before remembering the Venasaur they encountered before.
Another root was about to try and squish him when something punched the root to splinters.
Ash leapt out of the way of the splinters as he tried to keep his eye on where the wall was.
"This would be so much easier if I could bring out Lucario!" He groaned before again dodging an attacking root.
"Alright! Whoever's controlling these, you're not going to prevent me from getting to!"
*CLONK! *
Unfortunately, he hadn't been paying attention to what was above him when leaping and got a concussion promptly.
And a sharpened root was now aimed directly at his face.
"Aw, Reverse World!" He grumbled out before trying to focus his aura in front of him when it shot forward.
Then, a torrent of water splashed the root far enough to his right it impacted the ground.
Before something karate chopped the wood and made a week's worth of firewood.
"OK, close shave, but thanks for saving me." He told his rescuer …
And saw a Poliwrath staring at him.
"Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to disturb you."
"Oh no. These things started attacking me as well." A voice in his head told him as he started looking around wildly to find who it was.
"The Poliwrath who just saved you?"
Ash's palm had a meeting with Ash's face.
Was a good talk on how forgetful he was that Poliwrath learned the move Psychic.
"OK, my stupidity aside, have you seen a blonde haired girl around here?"
"Saw what happened in the sky, I couldn't see who did it, but I did see that the area around her was sectioned off. My psychic can't completely block it, but you can summon your allies again."
Ash needed no more prompting than that.
Lucario, Greninja, and Squirtle were brought out soon enough.
"So, whose stage should I take over?" Squirtle immediately said, once again doing a quote from Pokériders, this one Gaim.
"Can the quotes. Serena is stuck in this place, we need to bust her out! Poliwrath, can you try and help us?"
Poliwrath's answer was firing Hydro Pump at the wall, along with Squirtle using Water Gun.
That moistened the wood up enough to where Greninja could cut through it and Lucario could punch it without using Fire Punch.
"We got an opening! MOVE IT!" With that, the 5 charged into the hole in the wall before it closed.
Behind them, two moving fireballs also bashed their way through the wall before it was able to reinforce itself.
(SAME START TIME AS THE ASH SECTION!)
Pidgeot was not exactly happy right now.
Having Ash knocked off and having no idea where he was, really made her grouchy.
It also didn't help when she couldn't fly up and see where everyone was.
"When I find the user of that psychic, they are in for the death of a thousand pecks!"
Then a massive torrent of water was seen in the air.
"Well, I got no better leads." With that, she skimmed across the ground to get there fast.
And then ran straight into Brock.
"Well, at least we found one of them." He painfully groaned out as he sat up.
"Wish it was Ash himself." Misty moaned out, since Pidgeot clearly had problems with the Psychic.
"Not the time you two. Seems that whatever makes this root wall doesn't want anyone to get in or out. And has made it to where Flying Pokémon are unable to get off the ground." With that, the woman with them pulled out a Pokèball.
"FlareFlare, controlled Flare Blitz please!" A shiny Flareon emerged and jammed straight into the wall of roots and opened the passage.
"Thanks, Daisy! C'mon! Serena and Ash might need our help!" Pidgeot did not need to be squawked at twice for that.
She forced everyone onto her back and took off like a bullet along the ground.
No one noticed a black blur leap in with them.
(TIME COALESCES!)
Serena was screaming in agony, as Braixen was trying to help block out whatever was trying to take her over.
"STILL, YOU RESIST! GIVE IN! YOUR 'BOYFRIEND' WILL NOT BE AROUND TO SAVE YOU THIS TIME! LET THE PSYCHIC ENERGY WITHIN YOU TAKE HOLD!" It yelled out, as Serena soon felt … something beginning to stir within her.
"YES! RELEASE THAT UNTAPPED POTENTIAL! DESTROY ALL THAT YOU ONCE WERE!" It maniacally declared as Serena soon felt herself begin to lose hold of her body, as her hands were about to go to her side.
A cloaked figure then walked out from behind a tree and walked closer to her.
"Now to get rid of this pathetic bunch you have caught." The figure coldly said, ready to release all her Pokémon.
"LIKE REVERSE WORLD YOU ARE!" The figure spun around …
And had a nice introduction to the feeling of someone punching you across the face.
Quite the sensation when you're a Psychic.
"You dare!" The figure roared angrily.
Thankfully, it was distracting enough that Serena was able to finally get back in control of her body.
When she looked up, she was delighted to see it was Ash.
"LUCARIO! DARK PULSE! SPREAD IT AROUND YHE AREA!" With that, a black aura appeared in Lucario's paws as he began to spin around.
"No! You will not take this beautiful psychic from me! Alakazam!" With that, the final evolution of the Abra line appeared and sent a Psywave at Lucario.
Just before it hit him, a black blur suddenly intercepted it, and threw a Dark Pulse at Alakazam.
When the dust cleared, it was revealed to be Zoroark.
"You want Serena? You have to go through the both of us!" She declared, as she then sent a Night Daze Alakazam's way.
And then he got double Flare Blitzed from Charla and Charizard.
"SERENA IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE AND YOU'RE SURE AS DUNSPARCE AREN'T MAKING HER RELEASE ME!" Charla roared as she sent a Flamethrower at the figure.
Alakazam tried to do another Psywave, however, a Poliwrath leapt in between them and fired its own Psychic at it.
Then, ghostly energy began to surround it as it got blown back by Pidgeot using Ominous Wind.
And then promptly face planted as he finally got knocked out.
The figure returned him and "glared" at everyone.
"I will find a way to make her mine. And you." It pointed at Ash.
"I know you are her child. I saw her in your memories. I shall see you at the Saffron Gym, Ash Ketchum. Son of Red and Green." With that, it tried to leap away when Charizard blew a Flamethrower at it …
Only to somehow vanish and leave just the cloak behind.
"Any idea what they were on about?" Squirtle asked as he waddled out, a root having pinned him down when he covered Greninja checking on and protecting Serena.
She then got up and walked over to Ash, who was nervous since the Skitty was out of the bag now.
"Ash, is the reason you're not training me in Aura because I'm a psychic?" Ash let out a sigh and turned to her.
"The startup process is similar between the two. You just do it with your mind not your lifeforce. However, it is easier to fool from a distance. I have no clue how that person did it." He was about to continue when he notices the woman and the Poliwrath staring at him.
"I take it you knew my mom and dad?"
Then a level 6 shake quake happened when she zoomed in.
"YOU'RE RED AND GREEN'S KID!? HOW ARE THEY STILL ALIVE!? WE WEREN'T ABLE TO FIND RED'S BODY! WHAT ABOUT HIS OTHER POKÉMON!?" She air horned his ears as she kept shaking him.
"W-w-well, h-h-h-he-e-e-e is currently s-s-st-t-uck-k-k-k leADing Team-m-m-m Rocket!" He answered in between shakes, hoping she didn't try and stir him around.
The woman finally let go and backed off, realizing finally that she didn't want to make him an Ash Martini.
"Is this the friend you were referring to?" Misty asked as she pointed at the Poliwrath who was stuck in a perpetual stare at Ash.
"That would be because he was Red's Poliwrath." Ash then looked at the Poliwrath in surprise.
"Let's go talk with Bill about this." Daisy said as she then began to take everyone to the lighthouse.
(A MEETING WITH BILL LATER!)
"Well, I have no clue that Bill used to be a lot clumsier than he acted last time we met him."
Bill had taken the time travel story well, given how he seemed to know about Celebi and Dialga.
Then, the identity of the Pokémon from last time was revealed as a gigantic Dragonite.
Which was revealed when Bill accidentally tripped and activated the light in the lighthouse.
Which made Daisy tease him nonstop.
After telling him where Red was, Bill revealed a Farfetch'd and flew for Viridian City.
With that, they headed off, and then realized that they would be 4 days early for the Butterfree Mating Season.
Remembering the beach where they had a … weird moment with Team Rocket, they headed there, but Misty headed towards the neighboring city.
"I'm going to go get Horsea and see if I can't get that hag and stop the Tentacool rampage that happened last time."
"Question: why didn't you capture that Tentacruel last time? I know you love them and given how Kasumi has one, why didn't you catch him?"
"Didn't feel right to just do that after he went through all the trouble to tell everyone just how bad things got." Ash shrugged at that, seeing that she was just respecting them after they got mad enough to try and destroy a city.
"I'll come back once it's done. Good luck in the bikini contest, Serena!"
"Wait, a what contest!?"
Unfortunately, Misty had sped off riding her flying Gyarados surfboard for Porta Vista.
"WHY?" Serena spat out, as the only time she had worn a bikini was when she was with Diancie and Bonnie.
"Last time we were here, an incident occurred that we would rather not talk about. In short, we tried to help out a guy trying to get his dream boat, and Team Rocket did something rather awkward that we partially repressed it back in our minds." Serena shivered at what could have done that.
"Kingler isn't in your roster, right?"
"Bag Box."
"OK, just this once, I'll get into a bikini. Only time until we go to a tropical environment!" Ash chuckled, knowing where they were going next on the journey.
"Deal. And then we should head foe Lave- is Fearow OK?" Ash pointed at the brown bird who was falling behind.
"He's been like that ever since we got taken out of the sky." Both she and Ash were on their Charizards since Charla was vehement about keeping Serena safe.
Something which Fearow didn't object to.
Ash thought for a moment, and released Pidgeot.
One look and she was flying next to Fearow, who wasn't really paying attention.
"So, what thunderstorm hit you to make you act this way?" Fearow spun around in surprise at this.
"DAH! WHERE'D YOU COME FROM!?" He squawked as he hadn't seen her coming towards him, even though Pidgeot had not been trying to disguise herself.
"Ash just released me. What's wrong? You weren't this mopey when you got beaten by me in the original timeline." Fearow looked down in shame.
"I was the easiest to manipulate. I wasn't happy that Brock was on my back and that left the door open for that freak to try and take control and get Serena!" He then did something Pidgeot, in all her life, had never seen him do.
He cried tears.
"I'M A FAILURE! I FAILED TO BEAT PIKACHU, I FAILED TO BEAT YOU, I FAILED TO GET MY REVENGE ON YOUR TRAINER IN THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE! I EVEN FAILED MY TRAINER WHEN SHE NEEDED ME THE MOST! I FREEZE UP WHENEVER A THUNDERSTORM APPROACHES! WHAT GOOD AM I!?" He shouted hysterically which got Serena and Ash's attention.
"Funny. I always viewed you as a great rival." Fearow looked at Pidgeot.
"What? You evolved and beat me! You beat me every time we met! How was I a rival at all!?"
"You never did the same tactic twice. You didn't charge headfirst into a fight. And honestly, I think that's where your love of Pokésentai came from. They were often the underdogs in the fights and you yourself were one."
Pidgeot and Serena then began to fly closer to Fearow.
"And in all the conflicts we had, you always gave me the toughest fights. You were also a good leader, caring for the Spearow that followed you. You may have had big losses, but you were never weak. You always gave us a run for our money and we had to earn those victories. That alone shows just how strong you are."
Serena then petted his head.
"ALL that happened was that you got caught off guard by that person. We all get unlucky, so you have nothing to feel sorry for." Fearow, while not back to what he was before, looked to be in better shape.
"Heads up. We're coming up on Porta Vista East!" Ash called out as they began to dive towards a beach.
Serena then got a very uneasy look.
"Not looking forward I take it?" Fearow guessed as Serena nodded nervously.
"This is gonna suck."
It did not go as bad as Serena thought.
While Brutella did try to convince them to work for her restaurant, meeting Moe and hearing why he wanted the money convinced Serena.
She just didn't like being made out as just for her looks.
She did, however, decide to take a few hours before the show to be with her Pokémon.
Quickly being told by Fearow that he wasn't a fan of how hot it was right now, and Charla just wanting a break from flying and wanted some sleep, she put their balls into the Box Bag.
"OK, Braixen, Freya, Riolu, Sylveon, Popplio, Sprigatito! Let's enjoy the sun!" With that, everyone began to spread around the beach and do various activities.
Popplio headed straight for the water while Sprigatito followed its feline nature and found a spot away from the water and soaked up the sun.
Riolu and Braixen were working on a routine where Riolu shot off several small Aura Spheres and they played Volleyball.
While trying to avoid the detonation of the spheres when they hit the ground.
Freya and Sylveon just laid down near their trainer as she brought out a book to read.
A Sky Trainer manual.
She had gotten to how to control her legs when she felt a familiar pecking.
"ARCEUS ABOVE, CAN'T I ESCAPE YOUR PECKS FOR AT LEAST A WEEK, FLETCHLING!?" She screamed as Freya just looked in confusion while Sylveon just laughed.
"I would agree on that, Serena. As there was no need for Fletchling to do that." Serena jumped when she saw "Grace" to her right.
"JEEZ! WERE YOU TRAINED BY KOGA!?" Her mother just laughed as RhyRhy began to talk to Freya and Sylveon.
"No, but I always seemed to be able to do that. So, what are ya reading?" She asked …
Before she froze at seeing the book.
"A Sky Trainer? Since when were you interested in battles?" She tried to dodge, which Serena caught.
"More that I'm interested in incorporating them into my Performances. I have 2 Flying Types and plenty of ways to get up in the air. So, it should be safe to do acrobatics." Serena again saw a quick tinge of pain in her face before her mother returned to her normal haughty smile.
"Well, guess I just have to assume that you'll finally stick with something instead of not knowing what you want to be."
"Indeed, but I need to get the right materials to add to my performance dress." She said, bringing out her dress.
"Since when did you have that?"
"Since I went to Rota with Ash. I will admit, I don't think putting wings on this would actually help with the Sky Trainer bit." Grace gently took the dress and looked it over.
"Hardly. This material can't take sudden yanking which is what would happen if you tried gluing or sewing on wings. At least ones that are big enough. Another is that the wings you're thinking of, and Sky Trainer wings are completely different." She then pointed to where Serena's arms would come out.
"The wings on a Sky Trainer suit are designed to go under the arms and spread to the legs. That keeps them from tearing off, and gives enough area to spread the air around and slow down a descent. The wings you're thinking of come off the back. That is not a good idea when it comes to Sky Training as it gives a major weak point that can easily tear off and send you …" Grace immediately cut herself off when she realized how much detail she should not be knowing and the fact that Serena was literally writing at the speed of her talking.
"I mean, that's just what I recall before I took to Rhyhorn Racing. I think you'll know more than me." Serena quickly looked left and right, making sure it was just her, her Pokémon, and Grace.
The coast was clear.
"And I thought the legendary Sky Trainer Y would be better at trying to hide her identity from her daughter. Though the fact I met Croaky might have helped." RhyRhy looked at Serena in shock …
While all the color in Grace's face drained away.
"I … but … that's not …" Suddenly, Grace felt something slap her back …
And then she got conflicting memories.
Ash had been walking around the resort after making sure that Team Rocket was not going to do any sabotage.
Thankfully, he got a message from James saying that he was breaking the chains of his family off.
Thanks to the Fire Stone Serena had given James back on the S.S Anne.
He knew that his mother would be here along with Professor Oak.
Tempting to remind them and just have them believe him here, but he'll let his actions do the work first, get her family back, then remind her.
He then saw "Grace" talking with Serena and giving advice on Sky Trainer outfits.
And then her realizing she almost revealed herself as Y.
Granted, he could tell from the Aura patterns around that Croaky was watching Grace right now.
Then he realized he could safely remind her of the last moments and reassure her that X would return.
So, he managed to touch her back and she began the process of the memory battle.
Finally, Grace shakily stood up, and looked around.
"Well, guess Arceus must love screwing with people. So, Ash Ketchum, I believe you were following my request?" Ash gulped at that, having noticed that she lost her accent a bit, and sounded more like a no-nonsense Serena.
"Yes, Ma'am." He gulped out, not exactly wanting to know what she had planned right now.
"And I see that she has a version of the dress I gave her last time. Care to explain to me why she is now interested in becoming a Sky Trainer when I tried to have her choose her own path?"
Ash held up one finger, then released Clefairy, Odin, Fuecoco, Zorua, and Squirtle out of their balls.
"I SHALL PROTECT THE SUNLIGHT!" Squirtle declared as he then began to practice martial arts moves on the beach, while Popplio stared at him.
"That quote didn't even work for Pokérider Blade!" He yelled at Squirtle.
Then he unzipped his backpack, turned it upside down …
And Pikachu fell straight on his head.
"SERIOUSLY, KETCHUM!?"
"Consider that payback for all the times you zapped me to wake me up." He told him with a smirk.
"NID after all the times RAN. NISurprised that RANAgain!" Ash then turned to Odin.
"I'm sorry, what was that, Odin?"
"NII said that NID all the RAN. I'm RAN NID Again!"
Forgetting about the angry mother for a moment, he rushed over and picked Odin up.
"IT WAS ONLY A FEW BROKEN WORDS BUT I UNDERSTOOD YOU!"
"NEASE PIDOWN!"
Ash chuckled and then set Odin back down on the ground.
"Sorry about that, it's just that I'm getting closer to understanding ya, bud! Let's keep it up!" Odin just shrugged and walked over to Freya.
"OK, so now that I have my memories of the last timeline, tell me, Ash, what's your plan to stop Lysandre this time?" Ash looked over at Y and then back to Serena.
"I would like to talk to you in private about that." He then pointed at a clock that was nearby.
"It's almost time for Serena to get ready for that bikini contest." All sound ceased when Y got him in a neck lock.
"AND WHY EXACTLY IS MY DAUGHTER GOING INTO ONE OF THOSE ACCURSED THINGS?" She growled out while Serena looked nervous.
"BeCaUsE lAsT TiMe, mIsTy WaS tHe OnE wHo DiD iT. AnD wE WaNt To mAkE SuRe tHaT He gEtS To fOlLoW It!" Y looked over at Serena, who nodded at that.
She then let go of his neck and let him breathe again, before having RhyRhy behind him.
"OK, but after this, you are treating her to a nice dinner! And if you don't …"
A nearby pile of rocks got turned to extremely fine Soft Sand.
"That's you."
Gulping ensued, Ash made a mental note for all of that.
"Yes, Ma'am." He mumbled out, then headed off for something.
Y then looked over at the Pokémon hanging out.
"So how many?"
"About 6 confirmed crushes, possibly seven with Popplio." She told her, motioning towards Popplio who was staring at Squirtle as he was doing various kicks and punches.
Ash had been walking around town, passing out sheets for the restaurant they were volunteering at to help him, when he saw who he was partially looking for.
"Hey, Mom!" He called out when he saw the familiar green swimsuit and white jacket.
Then he nearly fainted when Delia used Bear Hug, which was Super Effective on Ash-Type Pokémon.
"And how is my little Pokémon Master doing?" She asked, as she rubbed her head against him.
"Currently about to be crushed to death via mom hug." He squeaked out, as Delia finally let go.
"Of course. So how has your journey been, sweetie? I'm sure things have been hectic." Ash took an uneasy smile.
"A Psychic had attacked us near Bill's lighthouse and tries to take over Serena. So, I'm just trying to calm her down before we continue." Delia then had a look that made Ash a bit scared.
"Let me know if you capture that Psychic. I would like to have a mind to mind talk with them." She coldly said, which made Ash gulp.
"NO ONE attacks my daughter-in-law." Ash then took on a crimson hue.
"MOM!"
"Oh, come now, Ash. It's just like when I met your dad, minus certain … circumstances." Ash quirked an eyebrow at that.
From what he remembered; Green had met Red near Celadon City …
And swindled every Poké out of his pocket for useless items for his Pikachu.
Funny way of meeting your future husband.
And he was extremely grateful Serena didn't do any of that.
"Anyway, is she going to join in the bikini contest?" Delia asked, switching the topic given how uncomfortable she appeared to be.
Ash then got a grin, which made Delia a bit nervous.
"Think you could help her out with that?"
Serena had just met Delia, technically being the first time, she met her.
If you don't count time traveling and having a different set of memories at least.
She was backstage now getting ready for the contest …
When Brutella came by and tried to convince her to quit.
She lasted about 10 seconds before getting booted out by an angry Charla.
"OK. Here's hoping I can win this and never have to do this again." She whispered to herself, still not exactly thrilled about the prospect of this.
"I take it you're here to tease Ash while looking your best?" Serena whirled around …
And saw Miette in a black and blue bikini outfit.
"WHAT THE – MIETTE!? WHY ARE WE RUNNING INTO EACH OTHER EVERY OTHER WEEK!?" She screech whispered.
"I don't know. We aren't purposefully trying to run into you guys." She replied.
Serena just shook her head, then began to psyche herself up again.
Miette just smirked.
"Gary was planning on Skipping this place. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to tease him in one of these." Serena gave her a side eyes look.
"I'm doing this because someone needs the money to get his dream boat. Nothing more." Miette shrugged then looked at the counter …
And laughed.
"Looks like we're the next ones up! Good luck." Serena looked up and saw that, indeed, she and Miette were next.
She sighed and steeled herself for the next moments.
"I thank you for helping Serena out with this, Delia. I don't know if she would have been comfortable otherwise." Y told her, making sure Delia didn't know she was Y.
She wanted to wait until she got reminded later for that.
She was also glaring at Ash a couple of times.
And he would then nervously look over at RhyRhy and gulp when his horn glowed.
Thankfully, Delia shot a look at "Grace" and calmed her down.
"Nice to see you again, Ash."
Whirling around, Ash saw Gary and Professor Oak standing there.
"OK, Gary. What the Reverse World?" Chespin then came out and pantomimes playing a violin.
Then Gary grabbed him in the face.
"Knock that off, Chespin! But yeah, Miette is taking part in this show, so I must be here." Gary told them, while making sure Chespin didn't tease him.
"I'm surprised they hit it off so well! And I'm happy Gary has a Kalos partner, too! Always wanted to study a Chespin." Chespin then dug himself into Gary's neck, not liking what he heard.
"Chespin! He's not going to do that kind of studying! And even then, I'm not going to swap you out unless it's for health reasons!" Gary told him, trying to get him off enough to where he wasn't about to fall over.
"Also, Gramps, SHE IS NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" Gary shouted while Oak just smirked.
With that, Gary sat down next to Ash, who saw that it would be a bit before Serena and Miette came out.
"So, why did you enter yourself last time?" Gary then had a look that told Ash he wasn't happy about it.
"Ego. Stupidity. Before I got humbled by you. Take your pick." Ash then began to think.
"Trying to show off your cheerleader squadron and your og self stupidly spending your funding on other things, so you needed to win the money."
"Actually, that's pretty spot on." Gary admitted, as they then heard the megaphone come on.
"AND NOW, TWO BEAUTIES THAT ARE A LONG EAY FROM HOME! BOTH FEOM KALOS, PLEASE WELCOME SERENA GABENA AND MIETTE DESCARTES!"
Ash and Gary had their eyes forward the moment they heard those names.
And both almost lost consciousness.
Miette had come out wearing a blue and black two-piece swimsuit, and her hair let down a bit, as she walked down the runway, and when she got to the end, looked right at Gary.
She then put her hand to her lips and blew a kiss right at him.
Gary lips curled into an extremely awkward smile, and waved at her, while turning from blue to crimson.
"Cheesss." Gary immediately broke out of his stupor and looked right at Chespin.
"Che Che Che Chespin! Che Che Che Che Chespin!" While he couldn't understand him, given the Alola sideways dance he was doing, Gary had the feeling Chespin was suggesting looking at her while she was in a traditional Alola garb.
"You and I are going to be discussing how to not treat ladies, Chespin!" Chespin just curled his lips in a smirk and thumbed over to Miette.
Gary heated up and growled at him, before Oak tapped his shoulder.
"Even he knows. And I'm not referring to Chespin. He is on his way back." Gary then looked at Oak in surprise.
"Dad?" One Oak nod confirmed it.
Before anyone could continue, Serena began walking down the runway after waiting for the go ahead.
She was wearing a red and pink two-piece swimsuit, with a look very similar to what she had during the fashion show in Laverne City.
She had a massive blush on her face, clearly not enjoying it, and just wanting to get it over with.
A bit hard when a lot of folks are liking what they see.
Ash then waved nervously at her, which she took on an awkward smile and waved timidly back.
Braixen was giggling so much she was vibrating on the spot …
When she wasn't waving her stick around making sure Greninja didn't get the drop on her.
"You know he'll find a way." Ash told her, as she literally backflipped to make sure that he wasn't underneath her.
Finally, Serena walked backstage, and the rest came out.
"So, how was it?" Miette smirked at Serena.
"OK, look. I don't feel comfortable in this outfit, and I DO NOT want to wear one again. I will stick to regular swimsuits, thank you very much." She told her, huffing with indignation.
"Poor Ash." Miette whispered.
"Oh yeah? You going to stay in this outfit whenever you're around Gary?" Instead of getting annoyed, Miette put her finger to her chin.
"Only if the place has a beach."
"OK, don't blame me if you start to get sunburned."
Miette just giggled as they then began to wait for the results …
And they both felt something cover their mouths.
"Ches? Chesp Che Chespin Pin!"
"Indeed. When the power comes out, it is in the league of Mega Evolution. Only problem is the fact that your trainer gets hurt too and how much strain there usually is between activating it and maintaining it." Greninja told Chespin, who had become fascinated with the Battle Bond.
"Cheeess … Chespin Ches?" He asked, pointing at himself.
"I do not know. I know of only one other who supposedly had it, and Ash told me of a third. The other one is another Greninja, female but has it. The one Ash told me of was a Chesnaught." Chespin's eyes began to sparkle, maybe it was possible for him to achieve it!
"Hey, you two!" The conversation quickly got derailed when Ash and Gary walked up to them.
"Have you seen Serena or Miette? Miette was the runner up, while Serena won the prize." Greninja and Chespin looked at each other and shook their heads.
Sylveon and Pikachu were running up and down the beach looking for them, but their Quick Attacks weren't finding them.
Pidgeot then flew down and shook her head.
"The contest folks are very adamant about them appearing, and it definitely isn't them if they are –"
"ATTENTION LESSER CITIZENS OF PORTA VISTA!" A particularly raspy voice said through the speaker system.
"THIS IS THE VOICE OF BRUTELLA, THE TURE BEAUTY OF PORTA VISTA! AND I HAVE BEEN INSULTED THAT I WAS NOT NAMED THE WINNER OR RUNNER UP! HOW CAN YOU NOT APPRICIATE TRUE BEAUTY!?" Let's just say that Ash had gotten Sylveon and Braixen with him, alongside Greninja, his Charizard, Pikachu, and Zorua.
He looked over at Gary, who had gotten his Blastoise out with his Umbreon and Chespin, also looking ready.
"We get one more person, then we go save them."
"And who did you have in mind?"
"A certain mother who has a Rock Wrecker."
Serena was getting back to the world of Pokémon after she was clubbed in the head while trying to resist whatever had kidnapped her.
Looking over, she saw Miette was unconscious, though she seemed to have a worse head injury.
"Now, I demand the money for the winner if you want these girls free! OR ELSE!" Said person was yelling into a microphone.
Serena then began to wiggle and try to get up …
Only to realize this person had enough brain cells to tie her up.
She was so used to dealing with Team Rocket.
"Ah, good. You're awake."
Serena turned to the voice, seeing Brutella looking right at her.
"And why did you resort to the way that is going to GURANTEE your diner is destroyed?" Brutella cockily laughed, clearly having no idea what she just brought upon herself.
"Sorry, but your little boyfriend isn't going to be saving you. I worked hard to try and get that money, but for some reason, everyone wants to help out Moe." She was so enraptured with the sound of her raspy voice, she never noticed a dent appearing on the door.
"That money is mine. Whether or not you two are alive, is up to the townsfolk." She said as she was about to return to the loudspeaker …
Only to duck when her door almost crushed her head against the wall.
And found herself face to face with a VERY angry looking Rhyhorn.
"So, you're the one who kidnapped my daughter?" Serena couldn't help but smile when she saw her mother staring down Brutella.
"Sorry, had to make sure that she didn't accidentally get you with the door." Turning around, she saw Ash untying her, while Gary was gently shaking Miette awake.
"OK, mind your own business, lady! Your daughter just cost me a fortune! And your Rock Wrecker here is going to wreck my –"She promptly gulped when Rhyhorn pushed his horn closer to her neck.
"Make sure she stays there, RhyRhy. Once we are out of the building, THEN you can have your fun with her." Brutella got extremely nervous when the Rhyhorn gave off a smirk.
"Is she ok?" Y asked as Ash carried her out bridal style.
"Only had rope and thankfully it wasn't too tight. She is ok." Serena snuggled her head underneath Ash's neck as they continued to walk out.
The last thing anyone heard was a loud crash sound and Brutella screaming.
"Well, I guess Brutella isn't going to be coming back anytime soon." Oak sarcastically said after everyone arrived back.
"I'll be surprised if she doesn't lose her Diner completely. RhyRhy isn't known to hold back when it comes to his family." Y explained, as Serena and Miette were checked over, and once Miette woke up (and slyly put a kiss mark on Gary's cheek), had changed back to their regular clothes.
"Speaking of, did you get that special kit I asked for, mom?" Y then revealed a Pokéblock, Poffin and Puff creation station that could fold up to easily for in a backpack.
"You better start making-" She cut herself off when Serena SOMEHOW made 10 platters of Poffins, one themed to Rhyhorn, another themed to a Fearow, and several just being different Pokémon themes.
With that, RhyRhy appeared and started scarfing down his platter, almost making a massive mess on his face.
Serena then put Clefairy's ball back in the Bag Box PC and brought out Fearow.
"Here's that reward I promised!" She told him, while presenting him the Puffs she had made specifically for him.
He looked at her in shock, which she winked and then did an over the top flare.
"TA-DA!" Fearow stared, then began to happily eat his treat.
"You … haven't won… yet!" A tired voice came out of Brutella's diner.
Everyone looked in surprise when they saw Brutella herself stagger to the front of the diner.
"That money… is mine! And no one … is going to take … it away … from me!" She said, as it was clear that, despite RhyRhy's best attempts, she was still kicking.
"How is it you turned a ton of rocks to Soft Sand and yet she is still in one piece?" Ash asked RhyRhy, who did the Rhyhorn equivalent of a shrug.
Guess she was made of granite or something.
"Now … either you … give me the … money or ... what's that … screeching?" Everyone soon became aware of a scream that was getting louder.
Looking up, they saw someone that looked like Brutella Slam into her and finally put the nail in the Coffin for her restaurant.
"Hello … Nastina." Brutella said as she finally lost consciousness.
"Been a while, cousin Brutella." Her apparent cousin said.
"HEY, GUYS!" A familiar voice was heard from behind.
Looking behind them, they were surprised to see Misty on her Gyarados.
"I see things went relatively well for you in East Porta Vista. How did it go with the Tentacool?" Misty smirked and threw a ball into the air.
Out came a Tentacruel who was glaring at the wreckage of the diner.
"Found both him and Horsea in the same area. With my mastery of Water Pokémon, he evolved fast and we figured out how to both get rid of Nastina and get the folks to help cleanup the bay." Ash rolled his eyes at what Misty said.
"Yeah, and yet you didn't take the chance in Grandpa Canyon to either get a Kabuto or Omastar." Misty glared at him for that.
"OK, what's the next destination!?" Serena quickly cut in, wanting this arguing to stop.
"Well, our reason for going to East Vista both crashed and got caught, and I am assuming Horsea has her memories back?" Misty nodded at Brock.
"OK, good. Next after that we went to a peak where I nearly got possessed by a Ghastly. We are GOING to avoid that." Everyone grimaced at his tone there.
"Next is Butterfree. He definitely wants his mate back and I'm sure he'll pound you if you forget, Ash." Ash quickly pulled out a calendar and nodded.
"That's our next stop. Let's get the flyers out and get over there." Ash said as he swapped out Zorua's ball for Pidgeot's and released her.
"Let's get going, guys! We don't want to be late!" He called out as Brock got on Misty's Gyarados while Serena got on Fearow.
"Tell Moe we said goodbye!" She called out to Y and Delia, with them nodding.
"You guys take care!" Oak called out as they vanished over the horizon.
"Well, they certainly did great. And Ash definitely showed how much he cared for my daughter." Y said as she petted RhyRhy.
"Yup. My baby boy is definitely going to be great." Delia said.
"Just like his father." She whispered where no one heard her.
(WITH TEAM ROCKET!)
"So, how goes the Gym Challenge, you three?" Giovanni asked the Trio, as they had just beaten the Cinnabar Gym.
"Got the badge, boss! And he told us some things in private since he recognized the organization we worked for." Giovanni grimaced at that, knowing that Blaine might be on his way over.
"We did tell him to wait until he met Ash, though. Best to not have him come yet given a certain Archer Project."
"Good. Last thing we need is him ruining my new plan for Mewtwo. Have to make sure that the Executives don't botch it." He said, as he remembered what happened last timeline.
"Anyway, head to Celadon next, should put you on schedule to go past them after Saffron."
"TEAM ROCKET'S PHONING HOOMMME AGAIN!" He just rolled his eyes at that gag as he heard them hang up.
"Matori. Any visitors?"
"We got a group of 4, sir. Old friends from the looks of it." Quickly switching a computer to a security camera, he saw exactly who he expected by this point.
"Boss, you are sure that Ketchup kid was telling the tru – BAPOF!"
"WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE, KEN!" Surge told one of his subordinates, not taking kindly to the insult with the last name.
"Ken, I know you're not the trusting type, but you saw how he battled, you saw how sure he was. And I doubt the kid of Red and Green would be a liar." Al said, seemingly forgetting that Green was a thief back in the day.
"Enough, you two. They might be listening in, so shut up." Harry told them.
With that, the door opened, and they saw Giovanni looking at them.
"It has been a while, hasn't it, Surge." Surge listened carefully and heard the trademark synthesizer scratchiness of a Team Rocket voice changer.
"It has been a while Giovanni, sir. A long time since Silph Co. and since Goldenrod." Giovanni nodded and then checked something real quick.
Surge made sure his friends didn't look, just in case.
"So, how did my son go with you?" Surge smirked, realizing they were in the clear for now.
"Quite well, Red. He used a Bulbasaur, a Squirtle and a Pikachu. Quite thoroughly mopping the floor with me." Red smiled and nodded at that.
A quick check on something and Surge saw him change back.
"So, why are you here, Surge? Come to check up on the Gym? Flint has already done that." Surge then smirked, playing along.
"I've come to rejoin. You were the reason and my loyalty is still to you." Giovanni smirked at that and pressed the intercom button.
"Matori, would you be a dear and bring in the application papers?"
"As soon as the copy machine is done with the other 3."
"Thank you."
With that, they began to talk about what it meant to rejoin Team Rocket.
(BACK WITH THE GROUP!)
"Alright, guys! We're here and should be on time!" Ash announced to his friends as they then descended back down to the spot they had arrived from last timeline.
Moment he landed, he released Butterfree, who began to look around frantically.
"So, what's the plan? We can probably let Butterfree find Sakura on his own." Misty called out after sliding off Gyarados.
"Well, Ash told me to bring this with us after Porta Vista." Serena said, revealing a yellow scarf.
"Hey, that's the scarf we gave Butterfree the last time." Brock said, as Ash took it and tied it onto Butterfree.
"Oh, she loved the scarf when she saw it. She just thought I was like the others who only showed interest in her due to her colors." Butterfree revealed, as he then spotted his objective.
"Hey, if Serena is interested, she could watch some of the mating dances. Could help with Performance dances." Serena beamed at the idea, as she then saw 3 couples starting.
She then began her note taking sessions all over the ground and on tress when she ran out of paper.
"OK, buddy. Go get her again." Ash told Butterfree.
Another year, another pointless attempt to find a mate.
She had been coming here for 5 years straight by this point.
All she saw were other Butterfree finding their soul mates and never hers.
Oh, that wasn't to say a lot of male Butterfree didn't take interest in her.
Problem: they were more interested in either battling her or just turned on by her colors instead of herself.
It drove her nuts.
So, while she was searching, she wasn't exactly keeping an eye out.
"Good day." She very nearly became a Ghost Type from that as she spun around …
And saw a Butterfree with a yellow scarf.
"Apologies, I didn't mean to scare you." He told her, which surprised her.
Already he was above a bunch of other Butterfree who would pretend to bump into her and then ask her to be their mate.
"It's fine. Just used to others not being as gentle."
"Like purposefully ramming into you?" She looked at him in shock.
He was a new one, having not appeared at all in the last 5 years.
How did he know that?
"Before you ask, would you like one of these?" Her eyes widened when she saw what he was offering.
Lum Berries.
Her absolute favorite berries.
"Are they spiked?"
"You would know, given the last 10 times they tried that trick." Quickly inspecting the berries, she could see that they were indeed not tampered with.
"I know all this because you told me."
"And how could I have done that if I never met you before?" Strangely, the Butterfree held out his hand to her.
"Because this is technically the second time we met under these circumstances. I can remind you of the first time we met, but that is up to you." She looked at the hand, then decided to do it.
She grabbed his hand …
And then YEARS' worth of memories began to flood her mind.
How when she first met him, he was such a rookie at this that he DID try to impress her with his moves, and it got so bad that she SLAPPED him.
Until he selflessly rescued her from being captured by a bunch of morons.
After that, they had many children and reunited with his trainer after he won the title of Monarch.
Then she remembered seeing a black blob eating the world …
Before now.
Now there was only one thing left to do.
"SMOPSY BUG!" She cried as she embraced her mate.
"Better first meeting this time, eh, Sakura?" Sakura then lightly slapped him in the shoulder.
"You and I got work to do to make up for the loss of our children!"
"I know, Googie Bug, but you are not an Egg Machine." Sakura nodded at that and then had a concerned look.
"Is your friend going to have to release you again so we can be together again?" She asked in concern.
Butterfree then motioned with his head in a direction.
"That might be easy if my Trainer's mate accepts you. I'll show you why." Not needing to be told twice, Sakura followed her mate.
Serena had been watching and noting the dancing the Butterfree did when they finally found their mate.
In fact, after doing some diagraming on the ground, she had a feeling she could incorporate it into her Showcases.
Quickly finding a private place to change into her Showcase Dress, she found a great spot to practice in without affecting the Butterfree.
She brought out Braixen, Zoroark, Charla, Fearow, Clefairy and Sylveon to practice.
"Hey, do you mind if you have an audience watch you?" Quickly turning around, she was surprised to see Ash there with Pikachu, Charizard, Lucario, Greninja, Zorua, and Pidgeot.
She then smiled, having a feeling as to why.
"As long as you're careful with where you look. I'm going to be up in the air." She said as she tapped on the rock 'stage noting that she would have to do things verbally.
"Here we are, Sakura. Oh good. She's practicing." Sakura was surprised to see a blonde girl with her mate's trainer, who had stopped to watch her.
He also told her of how he now had a mate of his own.
And she had to admit, if she looked this good with her friends, she wanted to know more.
"Surprised he wasn't dumb enough to let her go."
"Apparently he was stupid enough to where she had to kiss him to breakthrough." Sakura rolled about a thousand of her eyes.
"Of course. So what is she doing?"
"You'll see."
(PLAY SERENA'S PERFORMANCE MUSIC!)
"OK! FEAROW, WHIRLWIND!" While she and the others began to dance, Fearow took to the skies, blasting wind around them to get some of them floating.
"CHARLA! LIGHT FIRE SPIN! GIVE US AN ATMOSPHERIC GLOW!" Rolling around on her sides in the air, Charla had combine the Fire Spin with Whirlwind to make some nice lighting.
"CLEFAIRY! TRY TO GET A STONE EDGE!" Dancing around while performing Metronome, Clefairy did something few Clefairy ever attempted with Metronome.
She focused on getting a specific move, while performing special moves with her fingers while dancing.
Thankfully, her focus worked.
Rocky platforms began to come up as Serena and her ground bound Pokémon leapt up them.
"ZOROARK! BRAIXEN! COMBINE FLAMETHROWER AND NIGHT DAZE!" Twirling her stick, Braixen unleashed a flashier version of her Type's signature attack.
Zoroark did a fanciful martial arts kick onto one of the platforms as she combined it with Dark Energy and sent it at the Flamethrower attack.
Both attacks began to spiral around one another, making a beautiful tornado of light and dark colors.
"SYLVEON! WE'RE GOING UP!" Understanding her partner's meaning, Sylveon used a Fairy Wind underneath her and Serena.
Serena felt herself floating off her feet and going up at a faster rate thanks to the Fire Spin, Whirlwind and Fairy Wind blowing them up.
Serena did a twirl as she landed lightly on Charla's back, while Sylveon did a backflip onto Fearow's back.
The two then leaped at each other, grabbed each other's hands, twirled around then went to the opposite partner.
Ash couldn't stop a blush from occurring on his face, seeing how the beauty of the moves and the beauty of Serena's dress helped bring out her inner beauty.
Pikachu couldn't take his eyes off Sylveon, who looked gorgeous. He couldn't help but imagine her in her outfit that Serena had made for her back in Kalos. The thought alone making him blush.
Which only increased after Sylveon sent a wink at him.
Greninja wasn't as obvious, but he couldn't hold back a smile when he saw how much fun Braixen was having. He knew she couldn't wait to get her performance outfit back.
He also partially wished he could go back to being a Frogadier. He remembered back when they were Froakie and Fennekin. He then reached underneath his tongue scarf, in order to get some annoying itches …
And was surprised to see Frubbles on his hand.
Lucario just kept watching Zoroark. For all the previous Zoroark he met, they were all male. None of them ever showed softness and were like the mirror opposite of a Lucario. So, he didn't exactly have a lot of respect for the line, viewing them as a bit of a knockoff of his line.
That changed when he saw this Zoroark.
She was not a fighter, yet she held her line's most powerful move. She used it more for a spectacle rather than trouncing others.
What impressed him the most was her adopted son.
Sure, he was mischievous, but he was young, and he was sure he could get that out of him. But he also showed just how gentle she could be.
"She's interested, ya know." Lucario glared at Zorua, but noted he was right.
Lucario was like his trainer back in Kalos, he was aware of love, but he didn't exactly know if he felt it towards others, or like his trainer back in the day, was aware of anyone showing interest in HIM.
He was content to just go with the flow right now, not get tied down though.
Pidgeot had to admit, Fearow was adept now. Last time she fought him, he could barely pull out of a dive.
Charizard was completely entranced by Charla right now. The only times he saw her this happy were when he and her were flying alone, or when she was watching Serena.
He honestly loved seeing her like this.
"What do you think, Sakura?" Butterfree asked, as he loved the performance.
"I … she … so beautiful …" Sakura as clearly short-circuiting.
Powerful moves being used to make this?
It blew her mind.
"Had a feeling you would – HEY! THAT CLEFAIRY'S NOT CONCENTRATING!"
It was true. Clefairy, getting pulled in by the spectacle, lost focus on the Metronome for one brief second.
That was all that needed to happen for the platforms to disappear.
Unfortunately, it made things worse when it tried to correct only to accidentally get a Hurricane move.
Serena had just been about to step on Fearow's wing when the wind suddenly forced him to try and correct his course.
That meant that instead of stepping on his back like intended, her foot stepped on his angled wing.
And her Showcase shoes, whiloe being nice and clicky for music, did not include TRACTION.
Serena stumbled off the wing and went into free fall.
Sylveon also completely missed Charla, due to her smaller size being easier to get pushed around by the wind.
Braixen and Zoroark were trying to get things under control, but that left them unable to help their trainer as they were trying to make sure that no wildfires spread.
"SERENA!" Ash cried out as he then got up in ten seconds seeing his girlfriend falling from the sky.
Pikachu, likewise, was in a panic trying to keep track of Sylveon and cushion her landing.
Charizard was flying up with Pidgeot and trying to help Charla and Fearow get back under control, and tried to grab Serena on the way up …
Only to have the winds of the Hurricane knock them off course.
Greninja tried using his tongue to lasso Serena, but he ended up seeing his own saliva when the wind blew it right back into his face.
Lucario was too busy trying to help both Zoroark and make sure that Zorua didn't blow away in the wind.
"OH, ARCEUS TO BITS! THAT CLEFAIRY BOTCHED IT! WHAT DO WE … Sakura!?" Butterfree was panicking until he realized his mate wasn't next to him.
"COME ON. YOU STUPID TONGUE! GET THEM!" Greninja thought in his head, as while he had managed to snag Braixen, that didn't mean a thing if they couldn't get this wind under control and save Serena.
Lucario had managed to get Zoroark and Zorua, but the wind was screwing up their coordination to save her.
Clefairy had finally managed to stop the Hurricane, but the wind hadn't dissipated yet to where she could get a clear idea as to do something.
Ash was struggling against the wind, trying to get underneath Serena to catch her, but he couldn't see clearly because of the debris.
Suddenly, a white streak broke through the wind and shot up.
Serena was in a panic, trying to figure out which way was up and which way was down.
She thought she had been safe with Charla and Fearow, but it was clear that they weren't ready for gale force winds yet.
If she survived this.
She risked opening her eyes …
And saw the ground coming at terminal velocity.
Yeah, she should keep her eyes shut until the end.
With that, she did a small prayer that SOMETHING caught her and prevented her from snapping her neck.
Suddenly, she felt something grab her back, and she jerked upward.
Not like she hit the ground but like something grabbed her on the back.
Serena slowly calmed down as she was gently set back onto the ground.
She fell to her knees, taking a lot of deep breaths given the ordeal, but she was alive at least.
"Serena!" She then got pulled into a hug by Ash, who was clearly bawling his eyes out.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry I was useless!" He kept repeating repeatedly, as her Pokémon came over and hugged her.
"It's fine. We just need Clefairy to focus on his Metronome attack and not lose focus unless we order him to stop." She said as she stood up and quickly checked her dress for tears.
"Thank you for having Charizard catch me" She then saw Ash's Charizard staring at her, "Or rather Charla for that."
"That wasn't either of them."
"What do you mean? Only they could have gotten behind me and stopped my descent that way." Ash then pulled out a mirror …
And Serena saw a pair of Butterfree wings behind her.
"Wow. I never thought your Butterfree would be that strong to get through those hurricane winds." She said with a smile …
Only to realize Ash's Butterfree was still hovering behind him.
"Wait. If he's right there, what Butterfree is on my back?" The wings then moved from behind her and she turned around …
Only to see a beautiful female Butterfree that had a pink body and pink tint to her wings.
"Who's this?" She asked as Ash's Butterfree then flew over to the female and nuzzle her cheek.
Then she put two and two together.
"THIS IS HIS MATE!? THIS IS SAKURA!? OH MY ARCEUS SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!" Serena practically squealed at seeing her, having only seen Vivillion patterns before probably.
She has seen Shinies, but a Butterfree like this that was different from a regular Shiny was a surprise.
The Pink Butterfree then blushed at the compliments, then nervously flew up to Serena.
"Her name was Sakura, right? She's going to leave with your Butterfree soon?" Serena asked, not wanting to take up their time.
"Actually, I was hoping I could go with you." Serena whirled around and looked at Sakura.
"I love Smopsy Bug, but I would like him to travel with his Trainer again. He showed me you performing and while Clefairy needs more training, I was pulled in by what you created." Sakura then flew up and down.
"Please, will you capture me?" Serena stared at her, then looked at Butterfree, who was jittery with anticipation.
She then looked at Everyone else, who were making various motions of yes.
Ash smiled and held her hand.
"Kinda like us, aren't they?" Serena smiled and held out a Love Ball.
"Your wish is granted." Sakura trilled in happiness and went into the ball.
No resistance, immediate ding.
"Congrats, Serena. Your first technical Shiny." She then moved Clefairy to the Bag since he wanted some time to calm down.
"She's only getting sent to Oak's when your Butterfree goes back." Serena told him.
"Agreed, now let's head back to Brock and Misty and tell them –" Ash got cut off when something landed on his head.
Then the light of Evolution occurred and Pikachu, Charizard and Pidgeot were laughing.
Given how he was now getting throat hugged by a Primeape.
"ok wasn't expecting to run into you here until after sabrina but great to have you here, Primeape!" Ash choked out, as Primeape finally got off him.
"Let me guess, time travel."
"AND THE MOST OBVIOUS QUESTION AWARD GOES TO THE BANANA RAGER!" Charizard announced in a faux game show host voice, as Ash just grabbed a Ball and held it out.
"Before you capture me, let me show you a new move!" With that, Primeape glowed a ghostly white, before it went down to his fist and he punched an oak tree to pieces.
"It's called Rage Fist! The more I use it, the angrier I get and the more power I can wield!"
"That's awesome, Primeape! And from what I saw, it's a Ghost Type move! That'll come in handy for the rematch with Sabrina! You want to show those Psychic types a thing or two?" Primeape nodded and then went into the ball.
With that, they headed over to find Brock and Misty and head over to their next destination, Lavender Town.
(SUDDEN CUT TO SAFFRON CITY!)
It was hers.
THAT PSYCHIC WAS HERS!
She had sensed a massive Psychic user's potential and had found it at the cape of Cerulean Bay.
Hoping to make another powerful Psychic, she had separated her from her "friends" and tried to bring it out.
If only that accursed Aura user wasn't her soul mate or had taught her things ahead of time!
Then she would have controlled her easily!
It also galled her to realize that the Aura user was HER son.
The one who had mocked her in Silph Co. and had nearly gotten them killed when fighting Lorelei of the Elite Four before they got their heads screwed on straight.
Red she respected, but not Green.
"I swear Ash Ketchum, when you face me in your Gym Challenge, you will feel the full wrath of the Psychics. And then that pretty little Psychic will be all mine!"
She knew he would have to face her if he ever wanted to participate in the Kanto League.
Her Badge was one of the required ones!
And she was the Gym Leader.
He had to get past HER first to ever get it.
She was about to reach out and try to communicate with the young one …
Only for her right hand to grab her left and hold it down.
"You're still putting up this pathetic resistance? It has been 15 YEARS since I came out, 7 YEARS since we joined Team Rocket, and 2 years since the events of GoldenRod City." She then slowly raised the arm that was fighting her
"GIVE!"
*SMACK!*
"IT!"
*CRUNCH!*
"UUUUPPPP!"
*SNAAAP!*
Forcing her weaker half down, and losing her right arm for the time being, she began to plan out her attack for when they got here.
She would have her prize, one way or another.
All that would be answered is if she even got to keep her mind at the end.
