Final Preparations
The results were devastating as the Symbiote invasion hit its peak. Bio-domes had sprung up all over the city, practically covering every district, more and more people were being infected and turned, the Upside-Down monsters were prowling around, seeking victims and the Avengers knew that somewhere out there, Venom was gathering more and more power, aided by Carnage and Scream. The whole hostage taking incident was merely a distraction, to draw the Avengers away from scouting the city, thus allowing this to happen. Venom's dark and dangerous plan had come to fruition at last.
"He practically rules New York now?" Jess remarked in fear.
The others certainly shared her nervousness on seeing this.
"Dammit…" Lucas muttered. "Now what are we going to do?"
Erica was the one who spoke up. "C'mon now guy, we've been in situations like this before."
"As have we." Jake agreed. "Things are bleak, that's for sure, but we can't give up. There has to be a way to put a stop to this."
"Our usual tricks aren't gonna work here." Eddie noted.
Jane nodded. "Yeah, we can't just go around destroying the Bio-domes, not when there are so many of them and I'm sure for each one we take down, another will just be created."
They all knew she was right, but they had to think. They all knew that just because the situation was bleak and just because it looked like the bad guys had won, they couldn't just give up.
That was when they suddenly got two communications at once. An alert that revealed special safe zones had been set up, but needed help. The other was from Dr. Connors who had important information for them, namely something relating to the now complete anti-Symbiote weapon he had been building.
"How are we gonna do this, the way things are right now…?" Mike asked.
Jake shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I have a feeling, we're coming down to a battle we can't ask you to be in...we're talking Venom, Carnage AND Scream."
Will nodded. "I understand, I'm sure we all do, but then-"
"We'll be needed at the shelters, we know where they are." Nancy stepped in. "I say we all go to Dr. Connors, try and put this weapon to use and then those of us without superpowers got to the shelters and take care of the people who need help, let them finish this fight, we know you all can."
The Avengers nodded in agreement, they had a plan. It was risky but so too had been everything that had happened so far. So with careful consideration and making sure they had proper protection, the Avengers went and suited up while their families and loved ones hurried to join them, while preparing to later go and give aid at the shelters. With that all prepared, the Avengers all prepared themselves, sure that the end was approaching, nevertheless they left the base at last, determined to fight and achieve victory.
Moving as quickly as they could through the now ravaged city, the Avengers, their families and loved ones hurried to Dr. Connors lab, for they couldn't help but worry about the man himself. He sounded anxious on the message he sent, as if worried about something. Finally arriving they hurried up to the lab and were frozen in horror to find it looked rather trashed.
"Good, you made it." Dr. Connors remarked as he suddenly stepped up.
"Doc, what happened?" Spider-Boy asked at once.
He shook his head. "I'm sorry, it was Venom, he retrieved the Symbiote you were infected with Spider-Boy. It seems he re-absorbed it and is now stronger than ever."
"He did, huh?" Spider-Boy replied, sounding thoughtful.
This confused the others who were worried by what was just revealed. Regardless Dr. Connors continued.
"That's, that's the bad news." He admitted. "The good news is I got everything I needed from it before he could take it back. The weapon is complete and I also have found a way to expand its effects."
The Avengers all tensed and quickly gathered around.
"What did you find?" Iron-Man asked in hope and amazement.
Dr. Connors revealed the weapon and began to explain it all.
"Alright, so here we go. This weapon just needs to be taken to the top of the Oscorp Tower, they've got a new large range satellite there that I managed to remotely repurpose for our plans. You just need to attach the weapon to the satellite and then activate it." Dr. Connors nodded to the weapon itself. "It is specifically calibrated, using not only data from the Symbiote but also notes regarding their weaknesses. Once activated it will cover the whole city and, with some new additional data from some samples from the Upside-Down creatures, it'll take out the Bio-domes, destroy those creatures and eliminate the Symbiotes, leaving the hosts unharmed and free. It'll even close that gate that I overheard you mention before."
The Avengers shared a look of hope at that.
Dr. Connors wasn't done yet however, there was one small detail however.
"I should warn you however, it won't do everything...Those three Symbiotes, the ones leading this." He warned. "They're too strong for this to affect them."
"Wait so, Venom, Carnage and Scream will still be around." Speed Demon gasped.
Dr. Connors nodded. "Yes but...not Venom but the other two...it will weaken them at least."
Spider-Boy pondered. "So, we can finally take them out without trouble...our biggest problem is gonna be Venom himself, but I'm sure we can handle it, together."
"Together." The others agreed.
Their families and loved ones smiled and nodded.
"Let's do this, we can clear out the city then we'll go and head to the aid stations and help the people who need it." Jane agreed.
The others all nodded in agreement and Dr. Connors nodded and stepped back, hoping that things would indeed be resolved soon. Taking the weapon with them they all left and hurried to get to Oscorp Tower, it was time for them to finish this once and for all.
