Vol.2, Ch.27:
The stars were shining brighter than before on a lovely night in Atlas. It was peaceful and quiet as a fellow butler was stargazing with his favorite tea and his telescope. Klein watched the constellation and thought about Weiss Schnee. It had been hectic few days ever since she left, and her father was as furious as ever. Thankfully, with the help from himself and her mother, Willow, it has yet to be discovered who let Weiss out. He hoped it stays that way as he continued to relax and watch the stars.
Suddenly, he caught something in the distant sky of stars that seemed familiar. As he tried to get a good look and zoomed his telescope a little further, he gasped in surprise to see the blue police box that belonged to the Doctor flying across.
Klein: Oh my word! The blue box! It's the flying blue box! *Grabs my camera and looks at the telescope again* What?!
His idea was to grab his camera and snap a shot of the TARDIS to keep it for when Weiss returns but immediately dropped it when he saw a surprise worth watching. The doors of the TARDIS were open to reveal Weiss waving at her butler with a joyful smile. He also spotted her teammates back with her and the Doctor! At long last!
Klein: That's Miss Schnee! That's Team RWBY! And that's him... That's him! YEAH! THAT'S HIM! HA, HA, HA! Go on, girl! Go on, get up there! *Waves back and smiles*
It has been a wild, dangerous, and unbelievable ride for Team RWBY ever since that train crash in Mistral. Even after what they went through here, it didn't prepare them for a much crazier ride. Weiss found the TARDIS but encountered the tyrant known as Krall who was using a black hole known as the Void to destroy every life, stars, and planets in this universe until there was nothing left.
To make matters more difficult, Krall was possessing the Doctor's body and time was running out for everyone. Their first effort came to a disaster and a nightmare when the void destroyed Remnant and killing everyone Team RWBY knew especially their loved ones. They almost died as well but were saved by the Doctor, not theirs but the Original himself. He helped them in confronting Krall and resulted in their Doctor returning to life and killing Krall but the Void was still a problem especially after going out of control.
But right in front of them were two Time Lords who vast knowledge of time and space as it happens that the Remnant Doctor thought of a risky solution to restore the universe and contain the Void but they didn't do it alone as to Team RWBY's surprise, future incarnations of their Doctor appeared just in time as all charged in and contained the Void. When it was done, the universe was full of life once again especially Remnant. The Original Doctor bid goodbye to Remnant Doctor and the girls before leaving and sealing off the crack of the universe forever.
Yang: Anyone else feel drained or is it just me?
Ruby: Nope! Me too! All that running and fighting and saving the universe was ALOT!
Blake: How on Remnant do you even do it Doctor?
The Doctor: Well, we Time Lords don't sleep much at all and are always filled with energy to keep us going. 1 minute nap for you is a 12 hour sleep for me. But even after getting possessed by Krall and what Ruby said, even I feel a bit tired.
Weiss: We should get some rest once we get to our next destination. Now that we have the Doctor back and the TARDIS, it should be easier.
Yang: Must've been pretty cool though, for the original Doctor himself to appear and help out.
The Doctor: A relief and an honor for me. I really thought he died in the Time War, never getting the chance to thank him for saving me not once but twice with the help you five. *Smiles softly* One more lesson needed to make me realize I can be the Doctor and make it my own. Like he said, the Doctor of Hope and Kindness.
The four girls smiled seeing their time lord friend confident, happy, and full of energy like they first met him. After everything they all went through, what he went through, it would seem that this would be a sign for things to get better.
The Doctor: Now that we are all back together, we can now go on more adventures, out into space, back in the past, and...*looks at Weiss* Some alone time.
Weiss blushed red at the thought of getting some dates with her Doctor but not knowing that her teammates are right in front of them with teasing smirks while the Time Lord remained oblivious. All came to a halt when the TARDIS made a full landing.
The Doctor: Ah there we are! Mistral! Well, in the mountains of course. *Looks at the screen* Seems that there's three people out there as well.
Ruby and Yang gasped as they were the first to speed out of the TARDIS to see their Uncle Qrow alongside Maria and Oscar. For the three, it had only been a few seconds since Team RWBY left and now returned.
Qrow: That was...pretty fast.
Ruby and Yang: UNCLE QROW!
The sisters tackled hug their uncle as he happily returned the hug despite being confused about what just happened while Blake and Dalek Khan followed to greet the rest leaving Weiss and the Doctor alone for a moment.
Weiss: This is permantanly our life now.
The Doctor: You and me or the whole crew travelling in time and space.
Weiss: *giggles* Both silly. *Looks at him* This time there won't be any setbacks, nothing in the way, and NO erasing my memories! I remember that very clearly!
The Doctor: Yeaaaaaaah my bad. I was...very scared of losing you and I didn't know what to do exactly at that moment.
Weiss: I know Doctor. But things are becoming different and this time, none of us are gonna face the challenges alone. You just saved the entire universe and brought it back to life. The universe needs you Doctor. My universe needs you Doctor. *punches his arm lightly* So don't ever pull that stunt again because I love you and- MMMMM!
The Doctor wasted no time in returning his answer and feelings to Weiss as he pulls her in for a passionate kiss. A kiss with no setbacks, nothing in the way, and no memory losing which would make it their first official kiss. Weiss wrapped her arms around his neck and letting her leg pop out in fairy tale style before pulling away and having their foreheads connect.
The Doctor: I love you too Weiss. You are my universe as well.
Weiss blushed once again as the two continued to embrace for a little longer before heading out to the others, holding hands. Weiss goes on to greet the three while they all three continued to look at the young time lord.
Qrow: Good to see you again Doc.
The Doctor: Likewise, Branwen. *Looks at Maria* You're kidding...
Maria: I know these prosthetic eyes and my ears don't lie when I recognize someone!
The Doctor: Maria Calavera! Oh, what a joy to still see you kicking around! *Shakes her hand*
Maria: *laughs* Look at you. Haven't aged a single day! Well...I didn't know how you looked like til you made your presence known at Beacon.
Team RWBY: WAIT YOU KNOW EACH OTHER?!
The Doctor: Long story short, yes. I saved her after a very...dangerous incident.
Maria: You're a good man Doctor! Never forget that!
The Doctor chuckled and nodded in response before looking at the young farm boy but something about him felt very familiar. He approached Oscar while Oscar moved back a bit from being startled by the young time lord.
The Doctor: Who are you?
Oscar: W-Well, my name is Oscar-
The Doctor: Who are you exactly? Because you have a presence that matches someone else I knew before.
Ruby: You're right Doctor. He is Oscar but...he's also Professor Ozpin.
The Doctor looked at her in shock then looked at Oscar once again before pulling out his Sonic Screwdriver and making a full scan of the farm boy before looking at the data given.
The Doctor: One heart. Two souls. For a moment, I thought my belief that Ozpin was a time lord and regenerated was true. But it would seem that's not the case.
Oscar: Time lord?
The Doctor: Yes, that's my kind, my people where I came from. I am One of the last of the Time Lords.
The Doctor was relieved knowing that he is not alone because of the Original Doctor still out there in the other universe but he dreaded it as well because he knows that Cinder is a Time Lord as well but doesn't remember one bit.
The Doctor: If there are two souls then that means two minds. So where is he? Where is Ozpin?
Oscar: He...locked himself away after secrets he kept from the group were revealed.
The Doctor: What secrets?
Yang: Dark and shocking secrets that determined the past and possibly the future of Remnant *crosses my arms* And he never had the guts to tell us. Instead, we got it from a genie!
The Doctor: Genie?
Ruby: Yeah, *grabs the Relic* Inside the Relic of Knowledge is some kind of genie. We can say her name but only if we have questions. And we are only down to one.
Maria: She can answer 3 questions every 100 years. Once the last question is used, she'll be in a dormant state for the next century.
The Doctor: And what exactly did she tell you? Not the background or additional details, the most important one.
Weiss:*looks at him sad* That Salem...can't be defeated. She's immortal...
The Doctor did not look amused at what this genie gave to the gang. He knew something that she didn't, that they don't know what's coming and it made him get an idea as he snatched the Relic from Ruby's hand to the surprise of everyone.
The Doctor: Everyone in the TARDIS! We are going on a small trip before I take us to our next destination.
He seemed very serious and prepared as if the Doctor saw or heard something that they do not know about yet. They all followed back in with Yang bringing her motorcycle in as well. Oscar and Maria looked in shock at the sight of the TARDIS from the inside.
Oscar: H-Huh?! B-But...*stutters* I-It's B-Bigger...on the inside?!
The Doctor: Always love it when I get those reactions from those who enter for the first time. Coordinates are set so Off We Go! *Pulls the lever*
The TARDIS shakes for a moment as it takes off with no one except for the Doctor knowing where they are headed to or when. About a minute or more, the TARDIS makes its landing as the Doctor heads outside without saying anything. Everyone carefully follows and sees that they are still in the snowy Mistral Mountains.
The Doctor: Ruby, summon her please.
Ruby: O-Okay...Jinn!
The Relic shook and levitated on its own as the blue mist came out and spread around everyone for a moment until the genie of the relic emerged once again. Happy yet surprised that so soon.
Jinn: My, my. You kids sure love giving me some time to stretch and enjoy the outside. Are you here to seek the final question?
The Doctor: Wrong! *Walks to Jinn* In their timeline, the current one you can only grant them one more question. But we are not in the current timeline, we are 100 years into the future of Remnant which means that YOU have 4 questions you can answer. They said you answer 3 questions every 100 years. Here we are!
Everyone looked around in shock to see what looked like they didn't leave the mountains, they did and have only gone forward to the next century. Jinn observed the time lord with amusement and interest as the Doctor looked at Jinn wondering if she truly knows it all.
Jinn: You are much different from these people yet so similar to Ozpin as well.
The Doctor: Ozpin and I are the same and different at the same time. He's a human that keeps reincarnating with no limits and no stopping. Two Souls, One Heart. I'm a Time Lord with Two hearts that can regenerate 11 times into different people. He's human and I'm an alien. He knows the knowledge of Remnant very well for all the years he's been alive, and I know very much about all that is time and space.
Jinn: Hmm. You are a feisty one, I like that. 100 years into the future then, alright I'll grant you three answers.
Yang: *whispers* What is he doing?
Blake: Something only a madman like him can do.
The Doctor: Question #1, how much do you know about Salem?
Jinn: *chuckles* Why tell when I can-
The Doctor: No.
Jinn looked baffled at the Doctor who was not going to hold back even if he was dealing with someone that knew more than him. The rest of the group looked at each other, wondering if this was a good idea or not.
The Doctor: I don't want a backstory, I don't want a visual presentation, No unnecessary details. Only the important ones.
Jinn: Hmm. Quite a hassle you are, boy. Very well, Salem was once human that fell in the hands of the God of Light and Darkness. Her heavy involvement is what led to her downfall to where she is today. From trying to stop the Gods, to trying and killing herself, to gaining her powers, to where she's at now.
The Doctor: Can Salem be defeated?
Qrow: Ozpin already asked that question, why is he doing it if we already told him?
Weiss: Unless there's something we don't know and perhaps even her.
Jinn: Salem is an unstoppable-
The Doctor: No.
Jinn: *looks at him annoyed* Hmm. Salem cannot die for the Gods have created her im-
The Doctor: No!
Jinn: Grrr. You are getting on my nerve boy! What is it do you seek?
The Doctor: A straightforward answer! No sugarcoating. No unnecessary details!
Weiss: Doctor...
Jinn: The answer is very clear, she can't.
The Doctor: *sighs* Prophecies, they never tell you anything useful
Jinn: Are you questioning my knowledge? This is no time to play the fool.
The Doctor: Oh, but I am not my dear. All this information that you have given to those who seek it has either been prophecies of know it all AND of what you have watched throughout history. So that leads me to my final question, Can you see the future?
And there's the bomb that the gang was awaiting. A question that perhaps no one asked because they believed that she could see the future, but the Doctor knows very well. Jinn remained quiet despite displaying an annoyed look at the Doctor.
Jinn: I can see-
The Doctor: No. No. No. Wrong. Wrong. All Wrong! Ladies and Gentlemen, Jinn the one that knows it all. The Relic of Knowledge or so you think? Keep sugarcoating your answers Jinn and I will travel to another 100 years even until the end of the universe itself just to continue questioning you! I will gladly do it if you don't give me the answer I need!
Team RWBY felt their blood freeze and their bodies chill even if they were in the snowy mountains. It's a scary sight when the Doctor, the man full of kindness, hope, and positivity, takes a dark turn just to get what he needs. Everyone felt the chills at the current state of the time lord. Jinn was impressed by this man actions to question her knowledge and even lash at her. She knew there was no way out of this and she respected that.
Jinn: No. I cannot.
Everyone's eyes went wide like saucers and jaws dropped to the ground by this truth. He pushed her buttons to give the straight answers he was looking for and he got the answers he needed. He thanked the genie before she returned inside the Relic before looking back at everyone else.
The Doctor: There's a difference between one who's seen it all and one who knows it all. The one who knows it all has travelled across past, present, and future just to see the changes, the outcomes, the historic events that will be pinpointed in the books. She is right that Salem cannot die. But she was wrong that Salem could not be stopped.
Oscar: Hold on! Are you saying what we think you are saying?
The Doctor: The future is sacred to everyone, especially me. But sometimes, we have to break the rules just to see the fate of one world full of many precious lives. I travelled to the future only once before this. Everything that happens is fixed point in time, one wrongdoing can cause heavy damages such as paradoxes and ripples through time. I cannot tell you how it happens, I cannot tell you when it happens, all I can tell you is that it WILL happen... Salem will be defeated.
Their hearts dropped, felt like they could not breathe at all. They thought Jinn spoiled them the future of Remnant with Salem unable to be defeated or die. She was only right about one thing, and it isn't the most important one. Some of them fell to their knees, tears of fear and joy came across that Salem was going to be defeated somehow and someway.
The Doctor: I saw it happen. I was there hiding to prevent damage in time. Despite all her powers and immortality, she still looked down upon humanity and united; she was defeated for good. Defeated in a Timeless trap! That's why I brought all of you to come and see it for yourself. 100 years into Remnant's future and there is no more Grimm. No more Salem. Many things you know now will be gone but Remnant stays and so does humanity.
The Doctor has returned, and he is still doing what he promised to do when he's not around. Giving people hope, his friends needed that after they believed there was no way of defeating the Queen of Darkness but now, they know she will. They knew it wasn't going to be easy, they understood lives could be lost, damage will come, and many more but if they now knew the truth, there is hope it's going to be done.
The ride back to the present time in Remnant was quiet as everyone had the same thoughts of what occurred and what they learned. No one knew what to say or what to ask. All they did was share looks at each other but the Doctor knew very well what their thoughts were. He will not tell the details of the future but he was going to explain why he did it.
The Doctor: All of you caught in those deep thoughts of what just happened. Look, I can't tell you anything else other than I have gained a new home and grown soft spots for the people of Remnant. Why I did it is very simple than what many of you think. I've already dealt with losing my home, I will not witness losing another.
Team RWBY knew what he was referring to while Qrow, Maria, and Oscar were curious yet scared about this statement. The Doctor looked at Team RWBY with a reassuring look that he's alright explaining this to them.
The Doctor: Earlier, you heard me say I was one of the last of the Time Lords. That's because where I am from, my home planet is nothing more than just a rock with dust and ashes all over. Gallifrey was the name of my planet, and it burned in the Last Great Time War. All this time, I thought I was the sole survivor and the very last of my people. Until I found out there are two more Time Lords out there, the Original Doctor, the good man that saved me in the war after I lost my parents and-
Yang: Whoa. Whoa. Hold up! You said Two more? All we know is you and the Original Doc unless...*looks at him worried*
The Doctor: Believe me, I am not happy about this one.
Ruby: Doctor...what else do you know?
The Doctor: There is...another time lord...and she's here in Remnant as well.
Team RWBY felt that all of this was draining them to death. Just by the tone of the Doctor's voice. They knew this was very bad as the Doctor pulled up one of the screens and displayed what looked like a pocket watch. However, the girls noticed this pocket watch was very different for one reason, it had Gallifreyan writing on it.
The Doctor: This looks like a pocket watch to anyone but it's not. Like the TARDIS, it's got a chameleon device to take any appearance to blend in with the public's eye. This TARDIS had the chameleon permanently damaged, so it stays as a police box which I am fine with. This is for the time lords, and it's called a fob watch. It can take out all the memories and knowledge of that of a time lord to disguise yourself as human.
Weiss: Doctor...whoever is it...I sure hope she doesn't have it with them...
The Doctor: But she does if she's on the move alot. It's taken me a while to connect the dots together, to confront her and know the truth now. She's an enemy to all of us, fought against us, caused Beacon to fall...and when she opens that fob watch... the person she is now will no longer exist, it's my concern of who truly is the time lord that's disguised as Cinder Fall.
No sound, no response was made across the TARDIS that you could hear the TARDIS itself loud and clear. Team RWBY knows they just encountered her and fought against her. Weiss now held her fist tight knowing she would almost end Cinder if it wasn't for Raven holding Ruby with her sword on her neck. They all had their bloods boiling in rage at just the thought of her, but fear was growing because now they knew she is exactly like the Doctor and will be a danger to all of them.
Ruby: What'll happen now?...
The Doctor: We stick together, keep Remnant and the people safe, and the next time we encounter her...we'll stop her and take away the fob watch. Whatever comes our way, we'll be ready.
Small smiles came from most of them as the Doctor has returned to his positive mood. Those thoughts went away when a scroll was heard ringing. The ringing came from Ruby as she pulled out her scroll to see Jaune calling to her. The others noticed and gave her the signal to answer the call.
Ruby: Jaune?
Jaune: Ruby! Oh, thank you! I've been checking my Scroll for your signal since we made it to the city!
Ruby: The city? Wait...
The TARDIS made its landing once the heavy thud was heard. The Doctor immediately pinpointed where Jaune's call came from and set the coordinates there.
The Doctor: Alright everyone. Let's head out and Welcome to-
The Doctor looked all cool and confident until the doors opened and noticed a wall right in front of them. Everyone looked confused at the sudden sight of a normal wall while Team RWBY were trying not to laugh to avoid embarrassing their time lord friend.
The Doctor: Huh. Hmm, hang on.
The Doctor closed the doors and headed back to the control panel pressing on a few buttons before pulling the lever for a few seconds then pushing it back for full stop. He walked back to the doors and opened them to give a much better sight of their destination and the townspeople.
The Doctor: Ahhhh that's better. Ahem, everyone, Welcome to Argus.
The whole group was relieved and happy to make it to Argus. A good place for a well-deserved rest after all the chaos that came through and heavy information that kept stacking on them. With Dalek Khan choosing to remain in the TARDIS to guard it and not very a social alien, the Doctor placed a "Closed for Removal" and the group went on to explore the city.
After a bit of walking around, Yang found a small public garage to place her motorcycle and pressed in the cod 3. Once that was resolved, the group continued their walk to find Team JNR until they spotted an orange and pink blur go past everyone until she made a full stop like a cartoon.
Nora: Cute! Boy! OZ! *Points at Oscar*
Before Oscar could prepare himself, Nora made a full tackle to the young farm boy for a hug just as Jaune and Ren find the others. It's all hugs for everyone as the time lord watched with a smile on his face. It's moments like these, people like them that make a family.
Ren: Are you all okay?
Jaune: We were so worried!
Yang: It's been kind of a crazy trip.
Weiss: That's an understatement.
Nora: *looks at Maria* Wait, who's the old lady?
Blake: I'm so glad you're all safe.
Weiss: Seriously...
Nora: Ah! You're gonna love this place! *Looks over and gasps loudly*
The gasp got everyone's attention as Ren and Jaune looked over to what Nora gasped at and they couldn't believe their eyes on seeing the Doctor for the first time in over a year. Team RWBY smiled and watched as their friends approached the Doctor.
The Doctor: Jaune. Ren. And Nora. *smiles* It's so good to see you all of you again.
Nora: *hugs the Doctor tight and sniffs* Welcome back home Doctor.
That simple sentence meant so much to the time lord as he returned the hug to Nora. After hundreds of years of being alone in the universe alongside Dalek Khan, through troubles and struggles, through near death experiences and travelling across the universe, the Doctor finally found his home and his family.
