A week later Teddy found herself at the park with the kids waiting for Arizona and Mer to arrive, the same park she and Mer met many moons ago, *Her phone rang*
Grey: "Hey where you at"?
Teddy: "By the swings , under the oak trees "
Grey: "Perfect , we see ya"!
"HEY LADIES! Come, Come join the beached whale, have a seat "! Teddy greeted with enthusiasm as she tried to get up
"STOP, you look great! WOW, It sure is busy ! Is there some holiday We don't know about? Run along sweetie. Arizona encouraged Sofia
They all shrugged "Covid"? Mer replied,
"This is a treat , we don't get to do this very often"! Mer commented smiling as their kids ran after to find the older kids playing tag in the park
"This is nice" Teddy agreed stretching her back
"How much longer? Arizona asked
Teddy smirked "I'm overdue, Eviction notice is up, technically he should've been here 3 days ago… I REALLY thought I was going to have him the same day as my last appointment….. but here we are, NO baby "
"You should ask Owen to help " Jo responded
The women laughed
"REALLY?! He's cooked!Healthy…Big"? Mer giggled
Teddy Shrugged "he feels like it, Doctor K says so ….and OH YA way bigger than Allison"!
"Dr. K wants you to go into labor naturally, because of ageee…..? Do you have a C-section planned"? Arizona asked
"More than…and yes to both! Owen and the kids have been super helpful"! the women laughed
"NO Teddy…Owen needs to help you … you know… they say a little sex should pop that baby rght out" Jo made some gestures
"Don't think So, DOES THAT REALLY EVEN WORK"? Teddy laughed
"OH DO NOT be a prude, Teddy, Never hurts to try" Arizona commented
She squrmed "i don't feel sexy"
Arizona was about to comment but JO intercepted "Teddy you don't have to , it was just an idea. For what it's worth you're hot.
"I so do not miss it, AND you guys got a puppy! How exciting for the kiddos !…do you want more after this dude"? Mer asked
"OOOhhhh NO no no , I am DONE! iF i have any say … and believe me … i"ve got fnal say ….this is my last baby, trust me I am making Owen an appointment the same day this dude is born! He has no clue . she laughed
Talking for a few hours the kids gathered around for lunch
"So have you heard from Tom"? Mer asked Teddy
"Tom?…. Who is Tom"? Alli asked
The 3 women stopped in their tracks
"OH! GOSH!i'm sorry,i didn't know" Mer said embarrassed
"He's an old friend, Sweetie… Get your brother, it's time to eat and then we have to go home. *she watched allie run back to get Leo * No I haven't, he moved to Boston and was supposed to help run some part of the foundation but no one has heard a peep from him".
"You haven't told Leo and Allison"?
"No, not appropriate, they were so small when all that happened, a lifetime ago, really ".
"That is strange that no one has heard from him" the two women commented
"Very, last I heard he was still with the Foxx foundation"
A half hour later The kids hugged their chosen aunts and ran off to the car with Teddy slowly moving behind
"See you Teddy, take it easy! Hopefully next park date we'll have a new lil peanut"!
"I HOPE" she groaned but laughed
Arizona and Mer watched Teddy and the kids leave "That poor girl, she's a trooper"
"Guys…. I'm pregnant, not deaf ….I can hear you".
They all laughed "YOU GOT THIS TEDDY"!
Allison had noticed how uncomfortable her mom became talking about this "TOM" .
"Is tom someone you guys work with"?she asked again catching Teddy off guard as she drove home
"Used to baby, used to. We don't need to talk about him".
"Okay" Allison said looking at Leo , Teddy caught their exchange in the rearview mirror
"Honey he was a co-worker before you were born , years ago, many people didn't like him but he and I got along just fine ".
"Did Dad like him"? Leo asked
"No baby. Hey! When we get home, you two need to clean up Birdie's poop in the yard and feed her and then dad will take you three for a walk, okay"?
"Yes, Mom"! They both said in unison
They arrived home and the kids raced into the kitchen blowing past Owen starving from their morning /afternoon activities , Teddy walking slowly close behind .
"HEY ! What!... no love for dad"?!
"SORRY DAD ! FOOD AND Birdie FIRST"! Leo yelled as Owen turned noticing Teddy's exhausted appearance
"Hiiiiii" He said wrapping his arms around her
"Oh! Don't you dare touch me ….It's YOUR FAULT That I am this exhausted , that I can't feel my feet. I'm uncomfortable , I feel like a million pound hippo , my heart…. feels like it's going to explode out of my chest , I can't breathe and I am hot ".
He chuckled softly holding her "Come on , I'll make a lukewarm bath for you and tuck you in you need to rest"
"You're my hero"
1 hour later Owen came back into the master bath "Ready"? he offered his hand
She laughed " You'll need more than a hand to get me up , you need one of those cranes specifically for wide loads "
"Well back it on up, big booty Judy…beep, beep , beep, beep *he teased her* Come on" *he wrapped his arms around her and picked her up
She held onto him "Don't drop me"
"Not going to drop you" He brought her to their bed and sat her down
"OWEN I'M SOAKING WET" She complained
"That's okay, it'll dry, you're stunning *he captured her ear between his teeth and slowly worked down her neck eliciting a gasp* you like"?
"Mmmhmm" her eyes she nodded
he smiled as she groaned as he worked his warm strong hands across every curve of her body she turned her head allowing him to softly kiss her ear "You're absolutely beautiful" he whispered as he grabbed her while kissing her neck
Her heart raced with anticipation suddenly a familiar pain consumed her entre body "OWEN"!
"WHAT?! Teddy…. WHAT"?!
"Contraction"...
"That's all it took…..Really"?!
She nodded breathing through it
"DAMN I'M GOOD"!
"Relax Fabio, he was coming anyways" she laughed
"Hey… we're gonna have a baby"
"WE STILL ARE" she kissed him
"You okay…. What do we need to do"?! he asked jumping out of bed and beginning to run around
"Relax! GET OVER HERE Buddy! you're not off the hook….. you put this baby in me , you have to help get it out".
"I love you" he kissed her laughing
"Yeah love is what got us this * she pointed to her stomach* So stop loving me and HELP ME"!
He looked at her perplexed "Wait, what …are we really doing this" ?!
"Put it in me" she grabbed him
"Teeeeddddyyy …Ted.. Ted… Should we really we doing this… So.."
"Yesss" she hissed
"Oookay…you say stop *He pushed her up against a wall and kissed her tenderly working his way down her throat along her clavicle as she unbuckled his pants and grabbed him silencing him . He sat on the bed staring at her* You look beautiful"he reached for her hand and pulled her ontop of him"
"OWWWWEN" She moaned
He looked concerned "are you sure this is okay? We're not gong to hurt the baby are we
"You're a doctor , no we're not going to hurt the baby" she rocked in a smooth rhythmic motion, his warm big hands massaging her full breasts . She leaned forward her teeth scraping his skin ….every breath she took , inhaling him, eventually softly kissing him ….teasing him
"Altman who knew you were such a tease" ….
"GOOD MORNiNG Beautiful" he greeted her as she walked into the kitchen
She blushed and pretended to be coy "Good morning yourself , handsome" she grabbed him as she took his coffee
"Hey WOAH you can't have that "! He complained
She pouted "Sorry…stop me *she flirted with him* Hungry? She asked Giving him a little more than just a 'good morning' kiss"
He became attentive "FOR MORE…?UGH YA! LETS GO"! He started back to their room
She rolled her eyes "NO….for actual food… don't be gross the children are waking up"
He pressed her up against the sink "you have to admit, last night was incredible"
She wormed her way out "There has been better, *she winked * What would have been incredible would have resulted in my going into labor with my overdue baby….THAT would have been incredible but Nooooooo " She tried to get away
"What does Karna say"? He asked
She Shrugged her shoulders " NOTHING"!
He grabbed her elbow "Let's try again…"
"MOM! EWWW Get a room! MOMMM"! They both jumped as Leo yelled through the house
"Sweetie, I'm right here, what? Why are you yelling so early in the morning"? she walked out of the kitchen drying her hands, Owen following behind
"Can you help me with my Physiology Lab"?
"Sur…"
"HEY HOW COME YOU DON'T ASK ME"?! Owen complained cutting Teddy off
"Sorry dad, mom is a Cardiothoracic surgeon… "

He laughed "Yeah , i googled 'which surgeon is smarter Cardio or Trauma …and google said Cardio" he pointed to the computer screen
"OH YEAH ! THAT'S RIGHT! my boy! THAT I am" she grinned kissing, him he wrapped his arm around her waist
"You alright"? Owen asked
"Hmm? Oh yeah…. Just… I'm just one very lucky mom… OKAY ONTO Physiology …. What do you need help with"? She sat down eager to help
"Cell Membrane and permeability rules". He looked at her opening his notebook
"Oh Good Lord"! She groaned
"OHHHHH YES…. To be in AP Middle school Anatomy and Physiology again again…i mean , to be a youth agan" Owen and Teddy laughed
Leo looked stunned "What?! Is it hard"?
"No honey it isn't, I just thought you were going to ask about the heart, and had you, I would have broken out into my little song and dance I used to help me remember. No….not hard, it's been awhle since we had to remember every single tiny detail , You study it and apply it
"Okay… CELL MEMBRANE ….. Okay Not going to do the experiment now but we're going to think of a chicken egg….." Owen interrupted her
"Oh NO , I'm so glad we don't have to be in school anymore * Owen chuckled * Son, you are correct, your momma is WAAAYYY Smarter than I, Birdie let's go " Owen called to the puppy
"HEY! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?! STAY"! She laughed
"Mom, Egg"! Leo sternly got her attention
"Right … Egg. if we were to soak an egg in vinegar … the hard shell would come off leaving us with the yolk and white in a soft squishy membrane : THiS MEMBRANE lets ONLY SOME…. Things through so, it is…"? She encouraged him to answer her.
"Semi-permeable"? Leo answered

"These membranes are made up of MANY Different parts, called a fluid mosac can you name them? She asked
He was started to worry "Ugh don't think so"
Teddy Started in "The Phospholipid Bi-layer…Cholesterol and proteins "
Owen interrupted agan "Teddy , that's probably way too far advanced for this class…"
She looked at Leo "Oh….Ya….Right….Leo, did i answer your question"?
Leo laughed "Yes, Thank you mom".
Owen got up to leave "Where are you going "? she asked
" I'm free as the wind blows lady, he asked the Cardio Goddess for help….Not the TRAUMA God, going back to my room " Owen left the room
Teddy gasped "Ouch! Ohh Stop stop this isn't fair, you can't make me laugh anymore, Now I have to pee"
"MOMMMM"! Allison yelled
"ASK YOUR DAD, HE'S SMART TOO!i graduated school already "!
"Huh? *she looked at her mom confused* Was just telling you i was heading out the door for school"
"Oh, okay, bye baby, Good luck on your Math exam today, let us know how it goes "!
She made her way back to her bedroom "about time you arrived " He pulled her robe off
"OWEN! What are you doing"?!
He covered her mouth "Shhhhh for Goodness sakes woman, Leo is going to hear you, we can't scare him yet"!
"What are you doing"? She whispered
"What i apparently couldn't do last night , get that baby out"
She tried to get up "Owen, No, Leo is home…we can't"
"Stop complaining"
"I'm not , it's….enough…" she pushed him away as her pager went off
"Do you have to go in"? He asked pouting
She grumbled "yeah… aortic disecton , ya"
20 mns later Teddy was in the room of a patient "Mrs. Burns, i'm Dr. Altman ,i'm chief of cardio and of your team this evening , i went over your chart … did the physicians at the other hospital have a chance to tell you what is gong on "?
The patent groaned "no i was out of it"
She sat down taking the patient's hand "okay, you have a tear in the lining of your aorta , and we need to take you to surgery to repair that…okay"?
"Is that bad"?
"It's not good, but iam good at my job, we are waiting on a few people to arrive and within the next 30 mns we should be headed to the operating room" she smiled
"Are there risks? Errr that's a dumb question….What are the risks"? Mrs. Burns chuckled
"Yes… there are risks: heart attack, stroke, death… *she squeezed Mrs. Burns hand* BUT YOU ARE HERE…You've come this far , and you have an INCREDIBLE sense of humor. Do you have famly here with you"?
"Have 3 little girls ,they're too young to lose their mom " Mrs. Burns choked back tears
Teddy grabbed a tissue box and set it close to the bed "Listen to me, can you open your eyes… they're not gong to lose their momma".
8 hours later " Job well done , everyone! *Teddy exclaimed exhausted* Send her to Cicu for recovery , i'll be there to check on her in a few".
"DR. ALTMAN We've a 10 year old Cardiac arrest transfer incomng " a nurse yelled
"Serously?! This is the witching hour, anyone know what happened , any details"? she commented
"THERE is NO PULSE ON THS Kid"! An intern yelled
Suddenly the Trama room flooded with staff everyone figurng out where lines were so they could administer medications. Nurses feverouly switching off between compressions She tred to get a wordin
"QUiET *a nurse yelled* Let Altman talk"
She smiled "Can we start a resus epi please dilute it 1/10 "? She watched everyone work , nothing they were doing was showing any signed of restarting the heart.
"Altman this is not going to work, are you calling it"? Someone asked
"Time of death 23:04" she rolled her eyes and left the room
She got home and tried to quietly slip nto the house "HEY , you alright"? He quietly asked
She shook her head "NO, it was Busy, im exhausted… come cuddle with me"? She said somber
He jumped up and helped her up the stairs "You should cancel your meetings tomorrow" he said concerned by how much help she needed and how tired she looked
"Can't, the country is depending on me"she sad as she laid down
"Your family…that baby depends on you too, ya know…" he said quietly as she fell asleep
