OoOoOoOoO
It had been over an hour since Dr. Carter had left, leaving him alone with his thoughts. Jack struggled to process the revelations she had just made. How could the Asgards attack Earth? This reality defied all logic.
Despite the throbbing pain of his injury, he knew he had to speak to the base commander to get answers. Gritting his teeth, he abruptly tore out his IV, ignoring the sharp pain that followed, and left the room.
The corridor seemed endless, but O'Neill finally encountered a soldier who looked at him with surprise.
"Captain, who is the commander of this base? I need to speak with them," Jack demanded authoritatively.
The soldier, visibly bewildered to see Colonel O'Neill wandering like this, quickly replied, trying to mask his confusion. "The base commander is General Carter, Colonel. He should be in his office."
Jack nodded, absorbing the information with a mix of surprise and relief. "Thank you, soldier," he said before striding determinedly toward the indicated office.
Upon reaching the door, he knocked quickly and entered without waiting for a response. His heart skipped a beat when he saw Jacob Carter sitting behind the desk, bent over some files. A wave of relief washed over him, seeing that the general was the same man as in his own reality. Standing next to him, Sam, dressed in her medical coat, was carefully reading through some documents. Hearing the door open, she looked up, her face freezing when she saw Jack.
"Jacob! I'm so glad to see you," O'Neill exclaimed, a slight smile lighting up his face.
Without hesitation, he quickly advanced toward the general and shook his hand with unusual vigor. "I was so afraid of finding Apophis sitting behind this desk. With everything happening in this reality, I expected anything."
Jacob displayed an expression of surprise mixed with confusion at Jack's familiarity. He rose from his chair to respond to his interlocutor's enthusiasm with a firm handshake. "Colonel, I'm a general here, I remind you that you must respect your superior."
Jack couldn't help but smile. "Sorry, General, it's a bit strange for me. In my reality, I consider Sam's father as a member of my family, not my superior."
This remark disturbed Jacob, but even more so Sam. Her eyes widened, and her fingers tightened slightly on the document she was holding. She exchanged a glance with her father, seeking to understand what Jack had just said.
Jacob furrowed his brow, trying to unravel the situation. "What do you want, Colonel?"
O'Neill took a deep breath. "I want to talk to the Asgards. It's impossible that they are a threat. In the last reality I visited, it's thanks to them that we were able to save Earth."
Jacob was astonished, seeking explanations. "The last reality? Colonel, how many realities have you visited?!"
"Just one," Jack replied, his eyes fixing on Sam with particular intensity. "It would be too long to explain, but this reality was saved thanks to the Asgards' intervention."
Jacob stared at Jack insistently. "Colonel O'Neill, you must understand that they have never wished to communicate with us. They only want our destruction. Leaving the base to try to contact them would be utterly reckless."
O'Neill felt frustration rising in him, but he suppressed it, knowing he had to stay calm to try to convince him. "I understand your concerns, General. But in my reality, Thor is a trusted ally. If there's a chance to reason with them, I must try."
Jack opened his mouth to continue arguing, but Jacob raised his hand, cutting him off before he could say anything else. "You're injured and weakened. Your condition doesn't allow for such a mission. I've ordered the evacuation of everyone from this base to the Alpha site. We don't have time to waste on devising other plans. I ask you to return to rest, Colonel."
But Jack wouldn't accept this answer. "General, I'm perfectly fine, let me act!"
To prove his point, he raised his arms, but the pain from his injury reminded him sharply of its presence. He grimaced, and the movement made his arm, where he had removed the IV, bleed more. Sam immediately noticed the bleeding, her face hardening with anger and worry.
"You should have stayed in bed," she said firmly. She grabbed his arm. "I'm taking you back to your room."
Jack tried to protest, but the determination in Sam's eyes was unwavering. "Carter, listen to me..."
"No discussion," she cut him off authoritatively. "You need care. We'll talk about all this later."
She guided him out of the office, her grip both comforting and unyielding. Jacob watched them leave, his face marked by concern. Jack's words about the Asgards disturbed him. Should he trust this man and allow him to attempt an approach with the enemy? The implications of this decision swirled in his mind as he watched them disappear down the corridor.
Before he had time to really react, O'Neill found himself in the corridors of the SGC.
"Carter..." he began, but she was not willing to listen.
"No, Colonel! You're incredibly stubborn and irresponsible!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with anger. "Do you really think you're helping by getting hurt even more? It's the last thing we need right now."
Jack tried to respond, to calm the situation, but Sam continued to ignore him. She walked quickly, holding him firmly by the arm.
Seeing that he couldn't reason with her, O'Neill made a bold decision. He grabbed her and gently but firmly pinned her against the wall. His hands slid under the medical coat, finding her hips to keep her from moving. Their faces were so close that Jack could feel her rapid breath against his lips. The touch of his hands made her shiver, her eyes widened in surprise.
"Carter," he said in a firm but soft voice, his eyes plunging into hers. "I want to help you. I can't just stand by and watch you fight without doing anything. It's as much my responsibility as yours."
Surprised by the sudden proximity and the intensity of his words, she remained silent for a moment. She could feel the warmth of his body against hers. Her gaze was fixed on his eyes.
"Colonel, you must understand," she stammered, trying to catch her breath. Her heart was pounding. "We can't afford to lose someone else."
"Staying on the sidelines is not an option for me. I've seen too many battles, lost too many people. Let me help you," Jack murmured.
Sam felt a wave of emotion overwhelm her, torn between the fear of losing him and the burning desire to save her planet.
Jack slightly loosened his grip but did not let her go completely. He brought his face even closer, their noses almost touching. "I promise to be careful."
Sam slowly nodded, her lips trembling as she searched for words. "Alright, I'll talk to my father," she finally said in a barely audible voice.
"Thank you," Jack replied with a reassuring smile. He released her hips, his hands gently sliding up her arms.
They remained like that, their faces still close, time seemed to stand still. Sam could see every detail of Jack's face and feel the warmth of his skin. Her breath became irregular, her thoughts muddled as she lost herself in his eyes. She saw in his gaze a fierce determination mingled with unexpected tenderness. This combination unsettled her, awakening a powerful but inexplicable feeling of attraction in her.
Jack completely let her go, his fingers slowly sliding down Sam's arms, causing shivers along her spine. Sam took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. Her gaze involuntarily dropped to Jack's lips, and she felt an irresistible urge to kiss him, to taste the sweetness of his lips against hers.
As she was about to close the distance between them, a movement in the corridor caught her attention. A soldier was approaching quickly, looking urgent and concerned. Sam straightened up, trying to regain her composure. She gently pushed Jack to distance herself from him.
"Dr. Carter!" called the soldier as he reached them. "You're needed in the infirmary."
"Yes, of course, I'm coming," she replied in a slightly trembling voice.
She took a step back, her eyes seeking Jack's one last time. She finally turned away, following the soldier towards the infirmary. Her thoughts were in turmoil, torn between the medical urgency and what she had just experienced.
Jack remained still for a few moments, watching her walk away. He still felt the warmth of their closeness, the intensity of their emotions. Slowly, he took a deep breath and then headed back to his room.

Colonel Maybourne stood in front of the Stargate, his features marked by fatigue and accumulated tension. The landscape around him was desolate and arid, an infinite expanse of sand and rocks scorched by the relentless sun. The sky, an intense blue without clouds, added to the impression of infinity and solitude of this desert planet.
Dunes of sand undulated as far as the eye could see, dotted with a few rock formations eroded by the strong winds that regularly blew, raising clouds of dust. The oppressive heat made the air suffocating, and no vegetation seemed able to survive in this hostile environment. The only sounds were the whistling of the wind and the occasional metallic clinking of the SG-1 team's equipment.
Maybourne scrutinized the surroundings carefully, making sure there was no imminent danger before giving his orders. He turned to Daniel Jackson, who stood ready, his fingers lightly touching the DHD's keys.
"Captain, enter Earth's coordinates," the colonel ordered firmly. "We have received the general's order to return."
Daniel nodded and began entering the coordinates with precision. Each symbol lit up one by one, the outer ring turning and locking into place with a distinct metal sound. Finally, the Stargate activated, the blue vortex bursting forth at the center, creating a wave of light that contrasted with the bleak landscape.
"SG-1 team, move out," Maybourne said, turning to his teammates. They exchanged determined looks before stepping through the gate, disappearing into the vortex.
They arrived at the SGC under the watchful eyes of the guards and personnel. General Jacob Carter awaited them.
"Welcome home, SG-1," Jacob said in a grave voice. "Did you find anything useful?"
Colonel Maybourne stepped forward, his face expressing exhaustion and frustration. "No, General, aside from sand, there's nothing on that planet."
Jacob nodded slowly, as if he expected it. "The situation is critical. We must prepare to leave Earth for the Alpha site. We have no other choice."
A wave of murmurs swept through the room. The members of SG-1 exchanged significant glances.
Captain Jackson clenched his fists, struggling against rising emotion. "Run? You mean we're going to abandon Earth?" he cried, his voice trembling with indignation. "We must continue to fight!"
Jacob looked at him with compassion tinged with sadness. "Captain, I understand how you feel, but our priority is to save as many lives as possible. We no longer have the resources or time to resist effectively."
Daniel's gaze burned with determination. "We can't let our planet fall without trying everything in our power. There must be another way, another solution we haven't considered yet."
Jacob sighed. "We've explored all possible options. The Asgards are too great a threat, and we have no allies capable of helping us in this fight."
A heavy silence settled in the room, everyone feeling the weight of the imminent decision. General Carter straightened up. "Go for your check-up at the infirmary. Then prepare for evacuation."
Daniel clenched his fists. Reluctantly, he nodded, a sign of silent acceptance, and turned to the rest of the SG-1 team. Together, they headed to the medical department.
OoOoOoOoO
Major Carter was sitting at her desk, deeply engrossed in the meticulous analysis of an ancient artifact they had brought back from P4X-739. The object was fascinating, covered with mysterious symbols engraved in an unknown metal, with inlaid crystals that seemed to react to her touch.
In front of her, a multitude of sophisticated laboratory equipment was deployed. Oscilloscopes, spectrometric analyzers, and three-dimensional scanners emitted regular beeps. Sam delicately manipulated the object under the electron microscope, noting every detail with surgical precision.
She murmured to herself, adjusting the analysis parameters. "The crystalline structure is remarkably stable... These symbols could be complex mathematical equations or chemical formulas..."
Her fingers tapped on the keyboard, displaying a series of graphs and 3D models on the screen. The crystals in the artifact emitted a slight glow when subjected to different electromagnetic wave frequencies. "Strange... this looks like a form of energy I've never seen before."
Carter took a measuring device and slowly passed it over the artifact. The readings were surprising. "This material reacts not only to electromagnetic fields but also seems to generate its own energy... Energy that could be used to stabilize a passage between dimensions?"
She noted this hypothesis in her notebook, her thoughts bubbling with scientific excitement. "If we could understand how this mechanism works, we might be able to use this technology to reverse or stabilize the effects of interdimensional transport."
Sam activated another device, a quantum scanner, to analyze the atomic composition of the metal. The results appeared in real-time on her screen. "An unknown alloy... containing elements that are not on our periodic table... Fascinating."
She leaned back, reflecting on the implications of her discoveries. "If only we could decode these symbols, we might understand how these elements work together."
Carter stood up and walked to a large cabinet filled with books and documents. She grabbed a thick volume on quantum physics theories, quickly flipping through the pages for any reference that might match the artifact.
Her cellphone vibrated on the corner of her desk, interrupting her concentration. It was a message from Pete. The tenth since the start of the day. She sighed, her face tensed slightly. She opened the message, her eyes quickly scanning the text.
"Sam, we need to talk. I can't continue like this. Please respond."
Frustration and sadness mixed within her. Pete was a good, caring, and loving man, but their relationship was becoming increasingly strained. The demands of her job, the secrets she had to keep, and the constant dangers she faced put enormous pressure on their relationship. Sam began to question the longevity of their relationship.
She put down her phone, her mind torn between her professional duty and her personal feelings. The artifact before her suddenly seemed less important.
She stood up from her desk, taking a few nervous steps around the room. She knew she couldn't keep avoiding the conversation with Pete.
Her thoughts inevitably drifted to Jack. From the beginning, he had always been more than just a colleague. He represented an anchor, a steady force in the chaos of her life. But beyond that, there was an undeniable connection, something deep and real that defied words.
She realized then that her feelings for Jack were far more powerful than she had admitted until now. He constantly occupied her thoughts, and every moment spent with him seemed to push aside her concerns about Pete. She found herself comparing the two men, and each time, her superior effortlessly came out on top. This realization made her understand that her relationship with Pete could not continue like this. She couldn't be honest with him when her heart inevitably leaned towards Jack.
However, the situation was far from simple. As military personnel, they were subject to strict regulations prohibiting any personal relationship between senior officers and subordinates. This added an extra layer of complexity and frustration to her feelings.
The pressure of the current situation, the imminent dangers, and the overwhelming responsibilities made each choice even more weighty. Sam felt trapped between two worlds, one of her professional obligations and the other of her personal feelings.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her tormented mind. "One thing at a time," she murmured to herself. "Focus on what you can control now."
She returned to her desk, casting one last glance at the phone before diving back into the study of the object. Her thoughts still swirled between her scientific discoveries and her personal dilemmas when she heard hurried footsteps in the corridor. The laboratory door burst open, letting in Daniel, visibly out of breath as if he had run all the way.
He leaned against the door frame for a moment, catching his breath, before straightening up and walking quickly toward Sam. His face was flushed with effort, and his glasses were slightly askew, a sign of his haste.
"Sam! I found something!" he exclaimed, still slightly panting.
Carter looked up from the artifact, her heart racing. She fixed her gaze on him, waiting for him to catch his breath and continue.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm down before continuing. "I think I know how to bring Jack back to our reality."
OoOoOoOoO
Dr. Samantha Carter was examining Captain Daniel Jackson, who had just returned from a mission. She wore her stethoscope around her neck, her movements precise and meticulous, typical of a seasoned military doctor. She took Daniel's pulse, observing his expression carefully and noting every detail in his medical file.
"How are you feeling, Captain?" she asked, attentive to his condition.
"Physically, I'm fine," his gaze fixed on an invisible point ahead of him. "But mentally, it's another story."
Sam nodded, understanding his feelings perfectly. "I know. The idea of leaving Earth for the Alpha site... It's hard to accept."
Daniel clenched his fists. "We have to flee, abandon everything we fought for. It makes me sick."
Sam sighed, sharing his sentiment. "I'm upset too. It's a tough choice, but the general thinks it's the best option to save as many lives as possible."
She took a flashlight and examined Daniel's pupils, making sure he had no signs of concussion or extreme fatigue. "Look up, please."
Daniel obeyed, but his mind was elsewhere. "I still don't understand why we're not looking for another solution. There must be something we haven't tried yet."
Sam paused, hesitating before speaking. "Maybe Colonel O'Neill might have an idea."
Daniel, surprised, straightened slightly. "Who?"
Sam took a deep breath before continuing. "Colonel O'Neill arrived recently, completely unexpectedly. He appeared through the Stargate, seriously injured, claiming to come from an alternate reality where everything is different."
Daniel's eyes widened in surprise. "An alternate reality? You mean he's from another universe?"
"Exactly," Sam replied. "He says that in his reality, the Asgards are our allies and helped us save Earth. His arrival was sudden, and we still don't know how he managed to cross dimensions."
Daniel seemed to ponder this information, a glimmer of hope lighting up his eyes. "If he's telling the truth, it could change everything for us. Maybe he has crucial information."
Sam nodded. "Yes, he might have solutions we haven't considered yet," she admitted, seeing where he was going.
With determined movement, Daniel abruptly stood up from the examination table. He took a step forward, ready to leave the room. "I need to talk to him immediately."
Sam, standing beside him, raised her hand to stop him. "Wait, Captain. I need to finish your exam first," she said firmly.
Visibly impatient, he sat back down with a sigh. Sam checked the last measurements. She took a few extra seconds to make a final check of his vital signs.
Finally, she nodded approvingly. "Everything is in order. You're free to go."
Daniel stood up again. "Where is Colonel O'Neill?"
Sam responded calmly, "I'll take you to him."
She removed her gloves, tossing them into the trash, and took off her stethoscope, placing it on the desk. Taking a deep breath, she motioned for Daniel to follow her.
Together, they left the infirmary and headed to the room where Colonel O'Neill was staying.
Jack was lying on his bed, lost in his thoughts when he heard a knock on the door. Quickly sitting up, he replied, "Come in."
The door opened to reveal Sam and Daniel. Seeing Jackson, Jack's face instantly lit up. He jumped up, momentarily forgetting his pain.
"Danny boy ! I'm so happy to see you!" Jack exclaimed, approaching him with open arms.
Daniel, completely surprised, tensed slightly. "Uh... sorry, but I think you're mistaking me for someone else. We don't know each other."
Jack stepped back, looking stunned. "Come on, Daniel! You don't remember our first mission to Abydos? Our fight against Ra?"
Daniel frowned, disturbed. "The first trip to Abydos, I went with Colonel Maybourne to meet Ra and create an alliance."
Jack felt the shock coursing through him. "Wait... what?!"
Jack ran his hands over his face, feeling increasingly disoriented. "In my reality, Ra was our first enemy. We fought and destroyed him to liberate Abydos."
Sam, observing the scene, stepped forward gently. "Colonel, our reality is different from yours in many ways. It seems alliances and enemies are not the same."
Jack collapsed onto the bed, taking a deep breath. "How is this possible?"
Daniel, with a sharp military mind, settled into a chair near Jack, his gaze determined and impatient. "Colonel O'Neill, we need to find a solution to defeat our enemies. There must be something in your reality that can help us here."
Jack, his features strained with confusion and fatigue, shook his head. "It's so different. The alliances, the enemies... everything is reversed. In my reality, we fight the Goa'ulds. Here, they are your allies. I don't see how I can help you."
Daniel straightened slightly and hardened his tone. "There has to be something, some information, some strategy... something that could help us fight the Asgards. We need to strike hard and fast."
Jack looked at Daniel with surprise and some dismay. "Where is the Daniel I know? Always ready to find a diplomatic solution to every conflict." He scrutinized his face, seeking a spark of the compassion and intellectual curiosity that characterized his friend.
Daniel clenched his teeth, his jaws visibly contracting. "Diplomacy is useless. Colonel Maybourne convinced me to join the military to annihilate those who threaten us."
Jack slowly straightened up, running a hand over his face as if to chase away a bad dream. "This is a nightmare," he murmured, looking back and forth between Daniel and Sam, desperately seeking an escape. "Please, wake me up."
Jackson clenched his fists, his eyes burning with fierce determination. "Help us destroy them all, Colonel." His muscles tensed, betraying his anger and resolve, as he stared at Jack with an almost palpable intensity.
Jack lowered his eyes, feeling helpless. "I'm sorry. I don't see how to help you."
Daniel abruptly stood up, disappointed and angry, and headed for the door. He left without another word, slamming the door behind him.
O'Neill watched him leave, surprised to see him react so violently. This was unlike him.
Sam approached gently and sat beside him, delicately placing a hand on his arm. "I wish our realities were less different."
"Me too," Jack replied with a slight smile, trying to lighten the atmosphere.
A heavy silence settled in the room, each lost in their thoughts. Sam seemed particularly pensive, her eyes fixed on an invisible point, while her fingers nervously played with a fold of her coat. Jack noticed her expression and, worried, leaned slightly towards her.
"What?" he asked softly.
She hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "How am I in your reality? Am I also very different from what you know?"
Jack shook his head with a smile. "No, you're very similar. Like you, she's brilliant, determined, courageous..." He looked at her for a moment, his eyes lingering on her face. "beautiful."
Seeing the trouble in Sam's eyes, he quickly looked away and continued more cautiously. "She's not a doctor, but a major. She's an essential member of my team."
Sam took a moment to digest this information. She bit her lip slightly before asking another question, hesitantly. "And what is our relationship? Earlier, you said you considered my father as a family member."
Jack crossed his arms and looked away before answering. "I'm close to Jacob and you... well, Sam. We've been through a lot together. Dangerous missions, tough times... naturally, it creates strong bonds."
Sam, her gaze curious and a bit anxious, continued. "Do you and I, I mean she and you... have a relationship that is more than professional?"
Jack felt a wave of unease sweep over him. He ran a hand through his hair, a sign of his nervousness. "Military regulations prohibit members of the same team from having a relationship other than professional," he said softly. "But that doesn't change the affection and respect we have for each other."
Sam remained silent for a few moments, contemplating the complexity of this relationship. "And if there were no such regulation?"
Jack looked at her, his eyes searching for the right words. "Things would be different."
A silence filled with meaning settled between them, their gazes locked onto each other. The intensity of Jack's gaze captivated Sam. Unable to resist the surge of her feelings, she slowly raised her hand and caressed his cheek with her fingertips. "It must be strange to see me here, in another context and different."
Jack stared at her intently. "I don't see you differently."
*** Sam felt a slight shiver run through her skin at his words. She brought her face closer to his. Seeing that he did not back away, understanding that he would not protest, she finally bridged the distance between them.
Their lips met in a soft and hesitant kiss. Jack responded at first gently, as if testing the reality of this moment, his lips exploring hers with measured tenderness.
Then, feeling the intensity grow, he gently grasped Sam's neck, his fingers sliding behind her nape to draw her even closer. The softness of her skin under his fingers added a new dimension to the moment. Their bodies pressed against each other, the heat of their embrace spread through their clothes, creating a sensation of sweet and pleasant burning.
Sam felt her heart race as she let herself be carried away by the passion of the moment. Her hand, which had caressed Jack's cheek, slowly descended to firmly grip Jack's shirt, holding him against her with desperate urgency, as if she feared he would disappear.
Jack increased the intensity, his lips moving with palpable hunger against Sam's. His hand that remained behind her neck held her firmly, while his other hand slowly slid down her back, stopping at her waist to draw her even closer. Every movement of their lips, every exploration of their tongues added a new layer of depth to their embrace. Jack could feel every heartbeat of Sam against his chest.
The kiss became more possessive, more hungry. Jack felt desire rise within him, every fiber of his being yearned for more contact, more closeness. Slowly, he made her straddle him. Their bodies adjusted, finding a new closeness, each movement intensifying the desire between them.
Sam nestled against him, her hips fitting his. Jack caressed the small of her back, his fingers tracing soothing circles while creating a delicious tension. Eyes half-closed, Sam let herself be carried away by the sensation of Jack against her, each gesture, each touch brought her closer to him in a way she had never known. ***
OoOoOoOoO
General Hammond, Major Sam Carter, Teal'c, and Daniel Jackson were gathered in the infirmary, their gazes fixed on Jack O'Neill. He was still unconscious, connected to a multitude of medical machines that kept him stable.
Daniel held in his hands the strange device that Jack had touched, the one that had sent him to this other reality. The object was composed of several luminous panels and delicately arranged levers, surrounded by symbols engraved on a metal plate.
Hammond spoke. "Dr. Jackson, it's time to act."
Daniel nodded, determined. He approached Jack and gently placed the object on his chest, then took his hands and placed them on the luminous panels. Then he took another small artifact from his pocket.
Sam, intrigued, raised an eyebrow. "What is that?"
Daniel quickly explained. "This artifact allows us to correctly calibrate the main device. Without it, we couldn't safely activate the device."
Everyone held their breath as Daniel took a deep breath. His hands trembled slightly as he positioned the small artifact above the main device. He activated it by pressing a tiny lever on the side.
Immediately, an electric glow began to pulse from the main device. The light, initially soft and flickering, became increasingly bright and stable, slowly enveloping Jack. The luminous panels lit up with vivid colors, pulsing in synchronization with the electric sparks that danced around him. The symbols engraved on the metal plate seemed to glow with an energy of their own, adding an almost mystical dimension to the scene.
The electric glow intensified, the sparks becoming arcs of energy that crackled around Jack, forming a sort of luminous cocoon. The room filled with a palpable energy, the air crackling under the effect of the electric charge. The beeping of the medical machines became irregular, signaling unusual activity.
Suddenly, the light became blinding, flooding every corner of the room with overwhelming intensity. The team squinted, some turning away to shield their eyes from the brightness. The energy reached its peak in a crescendo of electric crackles, almost deafening.
Then, as suddenly as it had appeared, the light extinguished, plunging the room into semi-darkness. The sparks dissipated, leaving behind a sensation of emptiness. The medical machines continued to beep, their screens displaying flat, continuous lines, indicating the absence of their patient.
Jack had disappeared.
A shocked silence settled over the room, all eyes turning to Daniel. General Hammond, visibly shaken, broke the silence. "Dr. Jackson, what have you done?!"
