**Thanks for the comments..Peyton will be pregnant for a few more chapters
A few days later, Brooke and Lucas had just finished taking the twins to the library for story and play time. They decided to visit Karen since her cafe was close by the library.
They stood outside the café for a moment.
"Are you sure you are ready for this Brooke? I don't want to pressure you," Luke said.
"I know in my heart Julian would have wanted the twins to grow up knowing Karen is their grandmother," Brooke replied. "Are you nervous?" she asked him.
"A little," Luke admitted. "A lot I guess."
"I think she will understand," Brooke said.
Luke nodded.
"Hi," Karen's warm voice greeted them as they entered the coffee shop. "What do I owe this surprise visit to?" she asked, seeing them walking in together. Luke was pushing the twins in the stroller as Brooke's hand was still bandaged.
"Mom, Brooke and I wanted to tell you something about the twins," Luke began.
"Okay," Karen said, wiping her hands on her apron.
"This is kind of a sensitive topic," Luke started to explain.
"Should we go somewhere else?" Karen looked around, it wasn't very crowded and her customers seemed preoccupied with their coffees and company or busy on their phones.
"No this is fine, it's good news," Luke told her. He could tell his mom was confused.
"So this goes back to when Brooke was doing IVF to get pregnant and it's kind of a long story–" Luke looked to Brooke.
"The twins are your biological grandsons Karen," Brooke said. Karen gasped, placing a hand over her heart. She looked between Brooke and Lucas as if she'd misheard.
"Luke helped Julian and I with the IVF process," Brooke added.
Karen looked stunned as she bent down to see the boys in the stroller. "Oh my goodness! You're their father Luke?"
Luke looked at the tears welling up in his mom's eyes. He nodded.
"That makes you their biological grandmother Karen. I hope you don't hold this against me for keeping it private. I wanted to be fair to everyone involved," Brooke explained.
"Back then, it seemed like the right way to go mom. None of us wanted to confuse the boys or hurt the people we married," Luke added.
Karen began to cry, "I can't believe it! I can't believe I'm a grandma!"
"We want you to be a part of the boys' lives, we want them to know you as their grandma. It took me a while to come to terms with how things changed after Julian died, but I can't imagine not having you in their life now."
"Thank you Brooke I'm so honored that you've reconsidered. I know this has been so hard on you and you're still mourning Julian."
Brooke nodded, feeling herself holding back tears of her own.
"I will say seeing you two coming here together and knowing these are both of your sons, brings so much joy to my heart. I'd be proud to have you and the twins in my life," Karen said, hugging Brooke, before kneeling to kiss each baby.
Luke reached for Brooke's hand without thinking. Brooke could tell he was relieved by how his mom handled the news and she gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
"I'm not sure if I ever told you Karen, but Jude's middle name is Lucas and David's middle name is Keith. Julian and I chose those names, since Lucas helped us get our two miracle babies."
"They are a blessing!" Karen beamed at them. "I'm so excited to be their grandma and start spoiling them. I hope you'll let me babysit in the future."
Brooke smiled. "We would love that."
"I'm grateful the twins have you both as their parents. They will always be a special bond between you," Karen said.
Luke and Brooke looked at each other, understanding the gravity of Karen's words.
"You and Lily are the best things that ever happened to me and now my baby is a dad," Karen exclaimed, pulling Luke into a hug.
Brooke smiled at him. It meant the world to her that he was stepping up as their dad.

Lindsay sat at the bar at Tric, listening to a cute dark-haired and handsome guy singing and playing guitar. She treated herself to a new cream-colored slip dress and matching heels, happy to ditch the hideous jump suit. She'd managed to make bail by calling in a little favor. The only stipulation was she had to stay over 100 feet away from the woman who had stolen her husband.
After Jake finished his set, he came over to the bar for a drink.
"Hey, you weren't too bad up there," Lindsay said to him.
"Thanks!" Jake responded, clearly flattered. "I haven't seen you around before," he said after ordering a shot.
"I'm an editor in New York. Working remotely for a while," Lindsay flashed him a smile.
"Interesting," Jake commented with intrigue. "Are you here alone?"
Lindsay nodded.
"Sorry to be rude. I'm Jake. What's your name?"
"Lindsay."
"Beautiful name," Jake said, smiling at her with his gorgeous puppy dog eyes. "Would you mind if I buy you a drink?"
"Not at all," Lindsay said, "but non-alcoholic please."
Jake eagerly slid over beside her. "Is there a reason you aren't drinking?"
"I'm late and I'm never late," Lindsay pointed a freshly manicured nail at her stomach.
"Ahh, so I take it you already have a guy your involved with," Jake's face fell a bit.
"I'm sure you can't relate, but my toxic husband is leaving me for another woman he got pregnant."
"Well, first, his loss," Jake said, "and second, as a matter of fact I had a baby senior year in high-school. My girlfriend took off for three years. Only to waltz back into my life with her new husband, twice her age, and basically took our daughter Jenny and turned her against me."
"What a psycho," Lindsay sympathized. "What bad luck."
"Actually, it was the best thing that could have happened to me, getting rid of my ex. All she did was drag me down," Jake told her. He chugged his next drink, feeling his blood boiling over all Nikki's manipulations.
"Maybe I'm better off without my wet blanket ex-husband as well," Lindsay smiled wickedly. "Some things aren't meant to be."
"I'm willing to bet he'll crash and burn without you," Jake said, ordering himself another drink.
"And I'm willing to bet you're much better in bed than him," Lindsay purred.
"Only one way to find out I suppose," Jake grinned like he'd hit the jackpot.
"I do have one rule though," Lindsay said.
"What's that?" Jake urged.
"I want to dance first," Lindsay smiled seductively.
"Sure," Jake stood up, feeling sparks of electricity as he pulled Lindsay close. "Your wish is my command," he whispered in her ear.
Lindsay couldn't help grinning, she liked the sound of that.
