"It's really coming down out there," I comment as we make our way downstairs.
You chuckle and look out the front door before turning to me with a mischievous smile. "There's no lightning."
"That's good." I shrug and head to the kitchen, but you call my name.
"Have you ever played in the rain?"
I nod. "Yeah. I mean, not since I was a kid. You?"
"I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. If I didn't want to get wet, I would have been stuck in the house twenty-four-seven." You grin. "Let's go."
"To the Pacific Northwest?"
Your honey-brown eyes roll in the back of your head. "No. Let's go play in the rain."
"Are you serious?"
You nod and beckon me with a finger. "Come play with me, Edward."
I chuckle and follow you out onto my front lawn.
The sight of you stomping around the wet grass and jumping in muddy puddles in your bare feet as the rain comes down takes my breath away.
You're giggling so loud I can hear it over the thunder rolling in, and if I wasn't in love with you before, this moment would cement the fact.
You stop short in the middle of the yard and turn around. Your hair is matted, and your smile is blinding. "Edward, come play!" you call.
We spend the next hour chasing each other around, and at some point, you tackle me to the ground.
Rain continues to fall. You use my chest for leverage, and damn, Bella, you've never looked more beautiful. Soaking wet and covered in mud and lawn clippings.
"I promised you l'd bring a little strange to your life."
"I l—" You cut me off with an enthusiastic kiss.
Right now would have been the perfect time to tell you I love you, but you have other ideas.
"I'm freezing. Let's go shower."
The hot water is just what we need to warm up. You wash and condition your long hair as steam billows around us. I'm thoroughly washing your body when you sink down to your knees.
I lean back against the tile as you take me in your perfect mouth. You work quickly, and I come undone, your name falling from my lips like a prayer.
"Go get dressed," you whisper with a kiss to my chest and pull on a long-sleeved shirt. "I'll see you downstairs."
