Mary was quiet on the way home.
"Are you alright," Joseph asked her gently.
"I find it disturbing that the head Rabbi won't bless girls. What difference does it make; what's between her legs."
Joseph put an arm around his wife.
"A lot of men think girls are unworthy to be anyone special," he explained, "They feel like a girl is in a lower place because Eve ate the apple."
"So did Adam," Mary pointed out.
Joseph chuckled.
"It's true," he said.
Yahsourah started fussing. Mary fed Her.
"What are you doing?" a lady asked.
"I'm feeding my Daughter because She's hungry," Mary replied.
The woman looked irritated.
"In public? Why don't you take Her behind a tree or something?" the woman said.
"Do you eat behind a tree?" Joseph asked, rolling his eyes.
"Of course not"
"So why should our Daughter eat behind a tree," Mary asked.
By that time Yahsourah had fallen asleep.
"You will talk about our child with respect," Joseph told this woman, "Her name is Yahsourah."
"And mine is Debra," the woman replied, "Is there a reason I should talk about Her with respect?"
"Because," Mary replied, "First of all She is a person and second She is going to do great things in Her life."
"Can I hold Her?" Debra's Daughter Deliah asked.
"Deliah you have a limp," her cousin Eve pointed out, "You'll damage Her."
"No she won't," Mary replied, "I'll bring Her over to you."
Mary placed Yahsourah in Deliah's arms and after she took Her Debra watched in amazement as her daughter walked ahead limp free.
"Is She… the one promised," Debra asked in amazement.
"You mean is She the Messiah? She is. She's also three days old. Don't tell anyone," Mary implored.
Debra smiled.
"No I won't," she promised, "But you know eventually everyone will find out about Her."
Mary and Joseph did know that and the very idea terrified them. They didn't know what would happen to Her. Joseph knew he was insanely protective of Yahsourah.
"We know," Mary said, "She's going to be older when that happens."
"Thank you," Joseph added.
The next day Mary heard a knock at the door. She opened the door to see Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar.
"Are you the woman that just gave birth to the Son of GOD," Casper asked.
