Memories Of Her-Ch 21
Shannon wanted to keep Penelope and the baby at the hospital overnight for observation just as a precaution and told her that since she'd just given birth that flying and or riding in a car over a long distance wasn't safe so Penelope asked how long she would have to wait and Shannon had said, "if you are going to fly home it will be at least 3 to 4 weeks and driving would be about 3 weeks".
Derek looked at her and said, "well, we, you, me and the baby can stay here, I mean since we don't have to get back to work there is no real big hurry for us to get home", she nodded her head in agreement and Fran said, "I can stay and help take care of the three of you, I am a nurse ya know?", Derek said, "are you sure momma?", she said, "I'm positive and Penelope needs to get plenty of rest".
Shannon said, "Fran's right, the more rest she gets the better, especially now", Hotch said, "we're on stand down for the next week and we can stay for a few more days then when it's safe for Penelope and the baby to travel, we'll fly back down and get you", Penelope said, "I just hate to put you all to so much trouble".
Dave said, "it's no trouble kitten, we want you, Derek and Hank to all be safe and if waiting a few weeks to travel will help ensure that then we have no problem with waiting", Penelope looked around at all of the happy faces and said, "thank you all so much", everybody gathered close and enveloped her into a group hug.
Shannon smiled and said, "okay, since you and Hank both did amazingly last night I am releasing you both and since you are going to be staying in town for a few weeks, please feel free to call me any time", Penelope, Fran and Derek nodded their heads yes in agreement as Derek reached out and took their release papers into his hand.
Dave said, "I'll go bring the car around while you get the baby, okay kitten?", she said, "okay papa bear", Dave smiled and then turned around and left the room with everybody except Fran and Derek behind her, they wanted to stay with Penelope so that they could help with Hank.
A few minutes later a nurse pushing her wheelchair walked out the front door of the hospital, Derek was behind her and Fran was in front of her carrying Hank in his little carseat.
Fran got the baby situated in the car while Derek helped Penelope and soon they were waving at the nurse as they pulled away from the hospital, a lot had happened over the last week and now was time for her, Derek and Hank to rest up because soon very soon they would have to face the aggravation that would be Sam and Savannah.
